Razor rolled over in his bed and slapped the alarm but the insistent beeping noise continued.  Now curious he sat up in his bed.  It was 0200 hours why would anyone be up right now, much less sending messages with priority and noise alarms.

He got up and looked at his datapad.  He was instantly pumped with adrenaline when he saw that he had a message from General Gremjor. 



Trooper,

I am assigning you a mission.  You are to get to the spaceport by 0330 hours.  You are going to the forest moon of Endor.  On this planet there is a group of renegade stormtroopers.  They are not part of the elite stormtrooper corps as all the troopers going on this mission are.  They will be easy to kill but do not be fooled by this.  They are extremely dangerous.  There are four other troopers going on this mission.  You and Corporal Skarr are the veterans in this type of mission so please help the others.  Private First Class Atoll is the third in command on this.  The hit is on their boss and previously a member of the Army high command, Colonel Delgas Arffan.  You are to assassinate him and plant bombs in the small storage warehouse which contains a cache of proton torpedoes.  This mission unlike all other missions I have sent you on you will wear your armor.  It will help you to better fit in with the other renegades.  These enemies of the empire have space craft and are well armored.  Be careful and good luck. Corporal Skarr has point on this mission.  A dynamic-class freighter is waiting for you at the spaceport



Frak hes sending Skarr and me with a bunch of untried soldiers?, thought Razor.  He did not know how wrong the new troopers would prove him.

Razor set the datapad down and walked to his closet.  He put on his 18 piece armor and pulled a rucksack out of the bottom of his closet.  He set his helmet down on the table and rubbed his horn as he kicked the wall.

A panel of the wall flipped over and revealed Razor's personal armory.  Razor began pulling the tools he would need from his collection. 

His two DC-15Ss went onto his back holster.  He put his Bryar pistol in his hip holster.  His vibroblade went into its holster attached to his back holster by duct tape. He pulled his I77 Plasma Sniper Rifle out and put that into his rucksack then placed a small cache of grenades and other explosives in with it.

Razor looked around the room and realized he was ready to go.  He put on his helmet and sealed the suction around the edge of the helmet.  Then he walked to the spaceport which was only a small way from his home.

When he got there he saw Skarr, resplendent in his killing readiness glory.  They bumped fists and stood in front of the freighter waiting for the rest of the hit squad.

Talohn grunted to himself in satisfaction. He brushed the vibrosword with a cloth one more time, eliciting a soft shimmering sound from it, before setting it down softly. He allowed himself a quick smile before he grabbed up his rifle and set to work on that. Most would call his devotion to the Corps lunacy, especially because while most people were fast asleep, he was busy cleaning weapons. But, to him, it was just duty. Mostly. Nowadays, it didn't matter what he was doing early into the morning. He never slept anymore. Rest was a far off dream.

Beep beep beep

Talohn's head turned to the datapad. He knew that sound. Just another message. He decided that it could wait a bit.

Beeep beeep beeep

Now his interest was piqued. Normal messages just beep once and then stopped. This one seemed to be persisting. It must be urgent.

BEEEP BEEEP BEEEP

"All right, all right." Talohn muttered. He edged sideways in his chair and leaned over to pick up the datapad lying on his bunk. What he saw wiped all thoughts of rest from his mind.

Talohn grunted again. He would enjoy working with Skarr and Razor again. He got up off the chair and walked over to his closet, grabbing the armour from it and scooping up his pistol and rifle. As he holstered them, he was mulling over the thought of working with greenhorns. I suppose this'll test them, he thought. He picked up his vibroblade and swung it, smiling at the sound it made as it parted the air, before sheathing it. As he began to make his way for the spaceport, he just had one thought.

Looks like I'll be cleaning these again.
