Prefect's Report 8.29.10
Greetings everyone! This week we have a number of things going on. You'll be seeing a lot of changes over the next few weeks and hopefully for the better. Times change, and with change the club must adapt - to this point we have not been. That changes today.
Upcoming Events
As I am sure you have seen both our Regiment Commander and our Platoon Commander have been hard at work. Each of them have a fantastically put together competition for each of you. The first of which is a platoon story. I've read Sergeant Major Havock's plans for what she intends to do with her story and it looks great. You'll of course see more when the time is right but it's something to look forward to.
Aside from the Bounties competition that is currently underway Captain Professor has been working with the Navy to arrange the first Imperial Omega Campaign in ten years. I am sure there are many of you unaware of what that is: even among the most senior of veterans in the Vast Empire - there are few left that actually participated in the first one. Even I was not there so I will not even attempt to tell you what it is like only that I am sure that it will be like nothing you've done before. For further information, see the info thread at

This has got to be one of the most popular used categories in my Prefect's Reports. It seems we're always promoting, demoting, or swapping people out. This week is no exception. Today, we have two people stepping down from their positions as Squad Leaders - AND have two people returning to fill those positions.
First and foremost is Iron Horse. As most of the squad knows, their Squad Leader has had her share of Computer Troubles. She decided it was not fair to the squad, the army, or the VE so as of today she has stepped down. Replacing her - will be to most a controversial candidate I am sure. However the decision was backed by the AHC and the VEHC as well as Havock - who will be their immediate superior.
Admiral arturus of the Navy has agreed to come to us in the Army as Squad Leader of Iron Horse. He is doing so mainly as a favor to Sergeant Major Havock and myself but really he just wanted to go where he could be of help. Therefore, he will be taking up the rank of 1st Sergeant in his post of Squad Leader of Iron Horse.
Also, Senior Sergeant Anival Velasquez of Wraith Squad has worked on an arrangement with Havock so that he may step down as Wraith Squad Leader. In his place will be none other than our own First Sergeant Ron.
Congratulations and welcome back to those that will be in new positions. To those leaving us - we are sorry to see you go, but hope that you will return to us at some point. We won't be going anywhere (except ahead in time
)
Awards
I'm very pleased that as of late we are handing out promotions and medals for a number of things. This week is no exception. I have two Emperor's Shield First Classes to award to First Class Kraytirous and First Class Atoll for their increasingly day to day hard work. Thank you and congratulations!
Gaming Squad
Lastly, this may or may not come as a surprise to some of you but I'm afraid that we have closed the gaming squad. It was always in the beta phases anyways (in hopes it would catch on) and activity was sporadic if there at all. With Shazam's retirement, I looked around for a replacement for him but in the end looked at the overall productivity of the project and decided not to focus on that project for the time being. In the future, should someone want to have a gaming focus for their squad (as well as being an actual squad) - feel free to let me know. In the meantime, I would like to thank all of the members that have lent me their time and efforts into getting this project not only off the ground but keeping it going. For now at least though - our time has come to an end.
Closing
This has been a productive week for most of us. More productive than I think a good number of us are used to seeing lately. Let's hope this is a change for the better and will be a sign that things are going to come full swing and we will be back having fun and being active within the not too distant future. Keep up the good work everyone!
