"Indirect fire can cause casualties to troops, inhibit mobility, suppress or neutralize weapon systems, damage equipment and installations, and demoralize the enemy," instructed General Arcame. The General was conducting another 'class' for Demented. This time on the subject of indirect fire operations.
The Noghri couldn't help but think how useless these tactics were.
No wonder the Empire lost so many troops, they killed them all with their atrocious weapons, Rokh told himself, attempting to at least appear that he was paying attention.
Finally, it was time for Rokh to show how much he'd paid attention. Noghri's weren't known for their handling of large weapons, and Rokh was by no means ready to throw his training from his Clan out the window, but this was his job now.
He looked at the mortar, waiting for him just five meters ahead. "Private, I'm giving you a bit of time to practice. You will be required to hit seven targets with ten rounds of ammunition for your test. Good luck," the instructor said before stepping back. Rokh had absolutely no idea what he was doing with this weapon.
After a few moments, however, the Noghri bent over and began adjusting it in a very rudimentary fashion, attempting to line it up with his first target. Once it was aligned, the Noghri dropped a charge into the mortar, stepped back as quickly as possible and covered his over-sensitive ears before the bomb hit the firing pin, located at the bottom of the mortar.
Suddenly, the ground near him shook and his ears rang from the devastatingly loud explosion as the bomb detonated. He turned around to look where he'd hit. Upon inspection, Rokh noticed he was no where close. He readjusted the mortar again, hoping he'd gotten the compensation correct this time, and dropped another bomb down the tube. Again, it fired and again he missed, leaving another giant hole. This time, he was wide of the target on the left side.
God this is useless. Why can't we just sneak up and remove their head? It's far less stressful, the Private told himself while he adjusted the contraption again. He could hear the General yelling at him, trying to help him 'aim' it correctly.
After some pointers from Arcame, the Noghri reloaded and covered his ears. When the dust settled, he was amazed to have hit his target this time. Overjoyed, Demented moved the mortar launcher, attempting to aim it in the same fashion as before at the next target and fired again. The detonation was much closer this time, and he felt a light shock wave from the after math of the exploding mortar. Shocked yet again, he found he'd dropped his ammunition right on top of his target. Belated, he decided to begin his test while the thought process of targeting was fresh in his mind.
***
Private First Class Demented, also known as Rokh Clan Khim'bar, stood calmly at the test site, awaiting his turn to complete his test session.
I can't wait to finish this absurd test so I can get on to things of use, he reminded himself.
Finally, it was his turn. Demented walked up to his mortar launcher, talking himself through the steps as he'd done the whole time he waited, and prepped the weapon. "Private Demented, you've been cleared for firing. You must hit six of the seven targets to pass. Begin your test when you are ready," Instructed a tall, dark man standing behind him. Rokh got down on a knee, adjusted the mortar's position, aiming at the left most target. Once lined up, he adjusted the height of the launcher, allowing it to shoot further just a few meters. The Private dropped a bomb down the tube as usual and waited for the bomb to hit the ground.
A hole was left right on top of the target and a slight smile came across Rokh's face. Again and again, the Noghri aimed and fired at his targets, smashing a bomb on each of them. The fifth one however, gave him fits, requiring four shells to be used before demolishing the target. This left him with two targets and one shell. The Noghri nervously aimed the launcher again, dropped the shell and watched it disintegrate as it slammed into the ground. He had missed his target and failed the test.
Demented slowly stood and turned from the launcher, knowing he would have to come back and retry this disastrous test.
"You have failed, Private," muttered the instructor. The man gave Demented instructions of when to retake his test before the Nogrhi vacated the testing ground.

- Word Count : 776
- OOC:
- It looks good and I like that the first time you took it you failed, now just add another section a week later or so where you return to the field and pass the test then I can pass you to move to the next stage FAIL
