    Story 1: Fire Support Tactics

Rokh slowly wandered to the shooting range from the exercise room. Always one to be early to an appointment, the Noghri arrived with ample time to examine any weapons that he might use today.

"Private First Class Rokh," said a voice as he approached the Noghri. "I am heavy weapons instructor Arcame." He immediately spun around on his heel to salute the instructor. Arcame returned the salute before conveying, "At ease." The new recruit lowered his huge arm down to his side still standing at attention. Arcame glanced behind his student and asked what weapon the recruit was inspecting.

"The five hundred Squad Repeating Blaster Riot Gun, Sir.] The recruit replied with no emotion.

"Ah yes, quite the weapon for a squad. What are some of the positive characteristics of this weapon, Private?"

"Excellent maneuverability for confined areas. High rate of fire which will help for cover fire. It is also accurate at range if in the hands of a knowledgeable entity."

"Outstanding Private." The instructor replied. "Let's see if you know how to use it. Pick the weapon up and walk over to the shooting range." Rokh did according to instruction and upon arriving at the target area, the instructor had him aim down range and shoot down range at some targets to get a feel for the weapon. "Let me know when you are ready to begin your test Private." Arcame stated. He took a few more shots then, switched the weapon to safety before leaving the shooting area and returning to the instructor.

"I am ready sir." Instructor Arcame handed Rokh one clip and had him return to the shooting gallery.

"You must shoot thirty of the fifty targets to move on to basic cover fire procedure." With that Arcame started the targets at normal testing intervals and began watching as his student picked one after another off with ease. When the test had been complete the young Noghri managed to hit forty-eight of fifty targets. Only missing them because of not having anymore shots. "Amazing shooting Private. You hit forty-eight targets, passing you with distinction." Arcame pronounced cheerfully.

"Let's move on to basic cover fire."

******

"Cover fire is pretty simple to tell you the truth. Yet, it is very important because it gives your squad mates time to advance or draw out the enemy," Arcame mentioned. "There is a headset in front of you on the ground. Put it on and prepare for your training."

The Private picked the headset up and placed it on his head. Suddenly the black changed to find himself standing just outside of a building, 3 men in Stormtrooper armor stood in a circle with him.

"Ok trooper, I want you to set up your medium blaster behind that barrier just behind me. Be careful, they have a sharpshooter on top of the building. Once in position I want you to provide cover for AW-291 so he can get a clear shot at the assailant."

"Yes, sir," Demented replied. The Noghri dropped to an army crawl and began moving towards the barrier he was instructed to setup at. He arrived a few seconds later and had his weapon setup in a handful of seconds more. He did a rudimentary aim towards where his opponent was presumed to be located and pulled the trigger of his MRB-10 medium repeating blaster. Shots began bouncing off the wall just below the location of the enemy. Out of the corner of his eye he could see his accomplice sneaking up for a better look at the situation. "Almost out of ammo! Get behind cover!" Private Rokh informed to his comrade. AW-291 jumped behind a concrete barrier just as Rokh ran out of shots. He pulled the gun down and quickly reloaded then set back up and began covering his squadmate. A few brief seconds more and AW-291 had his shot. Like a ragdoll the opposing sharpshooter fell from the third story of the building and landed on the ground with a loud thud. The squad leader began walking back toward Demented and suddenly the screen went black. The recruit pulled the helmet off to find Instructor Arcame standing a few feet away from him.

"Good work Private. You are dismissed until further notice." Demented saluted then turned on his heel and left the room.

A few suggestions.

Curse of the choppy sentence: Try to weave your details about whats happening into the general atmosphere rather than listing the events in order. For example:
The Noghri dropped to an army crawl and began moving towards the barrier he was instructed to setup at. He arrived a few seconds later and had his weapon setup in a handful of seconds more. He did a rudimentary aim towards where his opponent was presumed to be located and pulled the trigger of his MRB-10 medium repeating blaster.

Could still convey the same info if written like this:
The Noghri dropped to a his knees and crawled towards the barrier he had been instructed to take position at. He worked quickly getting his weapon set up, not knowing when the shots would start whizzing by him. Checking his aim he settled into a good position based on where be believed his opponent to be. The sweat was pouring off of him in a very un-warrior like way when the faint click of the MRB-10's trigger released under the pressure of this finger.

Well hopefully that helps you understand what I mean, just don't describe every detail like you are giving directions, spice it up a bit.

One more thing. Based on what I know of Noghri, and you probably know more, but I would assume them to be quiet and most likely uncomfortable in these training exercises. They would find them frustrating since they would have already been given some kind of training (I think) and probably hate our tactics calling them unnecessary wastes of blaster bolts or something (coming from a society of stealthy knife wielding types). Just make sure you decide what type of Noghri guy you want and stick to it, also I would use this as a chance to explain why in the world he is here of all places.

I know this is a lot, hopefully it helps you for the future stories. You gave the details that were needed to complete the objective so PASS

"Indirect fire can cause casualties to troops, inhibit mobility, suppress or neutralize weapon systems, damage equipment and installations, and demoralize the enemy," instructed General Arcame. The General was conducting another 'class' for Demented. This time on the subject of indirect fire operations.

The Noghri couldn't help but think how useless these tactics were. No wonder the Empire lost so many troops, they killed them all with their atrocious weapons, Rokh told himself, attempting to at least appear that he was paying attention.

Finally, it was time for Rokh to show how much he'd paid attention. Noghri's weren't known for their handling of large weapons, and Rokh was by no means ready to throw his training from his Clan out the window, but this was his job now.

He looked at the mortar, waiting for him just five meters ahead. "Private, I'm giving you a bit of time to practice. You will be required to hit seven targets with ten rounds of ammunition for your test. Good luck," the instructor said before stepping back. Rokh had absolutely no idea what he was doing with this weapon.

After a few moments, however, the Noghri bent over and began adjusting it in a very rudimentary fashion, attempting to line it up with his first target. Once it was aligned, the Noghri dropped a charge into the mortar, stepped back as quickly as possible and covered his over-sensitive ears before the bomb hit the firing pin, located at the bottom of the mortar.

Suddenly, the ground near him shook and his ears rang from the devastatingly loud explosion as the bomb detonated. He turned around to look where he'd hit. Upon inspection, Rokh noticed he was no where close. He readjusted the mortar again, hoping he'd gotten the compensation correct this time, and dropped another bomb down the tube. Again, it fired and again he missed, leaving another giant hole. This time, he was wide of the target on the left side.

God this is useless. Why can't we just sneak up and remove their head? It's far less stressful, the Private told himself while he adjusted the contraption again. He could hear the General yelling at him, trying to help him 'aim' it correctly.

After some pointers from Arcame, the Noghri reloaded and covered his ears. When the dust settled, he was amazed to have hit his target this time. Overjoyed, Demented moved the mortar launcher, attempting to aim it in the same fashion as before at the next target and fired again. The detonation was much closer this time, and he felt a light shock wave from the after math of the exploding mortar. Shocked yet again, he found he'd dropped his ammunition right on top of his target. Belated, he decided to begin his test while the thought process of targeting was fresh in his mind.

***

Private First Class Demented, also known as Rokh Clan Khim'bar, stood calmly at the test site, awaiting his turn to complete his test session. I can't wait to finish this absurd test so I can get on to things of use, he reminded himself.

Finally, it was his turn. Demented walked up to his mortar launcher, talking himself through the steps as he'd done the whole time he waited, and prepped the weapon. "Private Demented, you've been cleared for firing. You must hit six of the seven targets to pass. Begin your test when you are ready," Instructed a tall, dark man standing behind him. Rokh got down on a knee, adjusted the mortar's position, aiming at the left most target. Once lined up, he adjusted the height of the launcher, allowing it to shoot further just a few meters. The Private dropped a bomb down the tube as usual and waited for the bomb to hit the ground.

A hole was left right on top of the target and a slight smile came across Rokh's face. Again and again, the Noghri aimed and fired at his targets, smashing a bomb on each of them. The fifth one however, gave him fits, requiring four shells to be used before demolishing the target. This left him with two targets and one shell. The Noghri nervously aimed the launcher again, dropped the shell and watched it disintegrate as it slammed into the ground. He had missed his target and failed the test.

Demented slowly stood and turned from the launcher, knowing he would have to come back and retry this disastrous test.

"You have failed, Private," muttered the instructor. The man gave Demented instructions of when to retake his test before the Nogrhi vacated the testing ground.

It looks good and I like that the first time you took it you failed, now just add another section a week later or so where you return to the field and pass the test then I can pass you to move to the next stage FAIL
