Sara walked in front of Skarr, a blaster rifle to her back. Skarr had picked it up from one of the many thugs that had tried to storm the room. He didn't want to know how they smuggled the rifle, an old DC from the Clone Wars, into the hotel but it was there.

Sara obviously didn't like the arrangement, she kept looking back at Skarr with a scowl on her face. If looks could kill, Skarr thought, I would have been dead many times over by now. Skarr now felt better, they had been in the tunnel for almost an hour and the motion of walking helped the meds circulate through his system.

Mai stopped for a second and looked back at Skarr, "I smell blood." Skarr looked down and sure enough, his shoulder wound was bleeding. Havock sighed in displeasure.

"Why didn't you say something?" Jaenna growled, who stood behind Skarr. Skarr merely shrugged.

"Well, I'm sure I would have if I hadn't been puking my guts out," he said cheerfully. Karash looked angry, he had already patched enough people up and he slapped a bandage, none too lightly, on Skarr burn.

Ow, that stung, Skarr thought. Verk had kept walking all this time and the rest of the group scrambled up to him. An hour and not a single ambush. Surely, they knew that RAIDERS had escaped. Skarr was suddenly more alert and looked to Sara.

"Did anyone think to check Sara for tracking devices?" Skarr asked. Havock turned and grimaced, that meant no. Jaenna moved in front of Skarr and shoved Sara into the wall. Sara grunted at the harsh treatment, but otherwise said nothing. When Jaenna's hands came into view, she held a tracking device in her hand.

"Well that's not good," Karash muttered and that was when their enemies sprang their trap.

Bright hissed loudly as the trap sprung. Without thinking she ducked out from under Havock's support taking the other woman to the floor with her as bolts of red energy began to fly over their heads. She cringed as her recently treated wounds stretched with her body and pain shot through her abdomen and shoulder. Instead of just hitting the floor, Bright continued the movement till she had rolled back up to her knees. Along the way she had managed to grab one of Havock's customary twin blasters.

She brought the weapon to bear and pulled off a shot, dropping a man who was too slow to bring his weapon up. Bright was not in the mood to be compassionate, and so she would not ask questions before shooting. Even in her current state Bright was a precise shot. She dropped another man as he took aim at Verkur. It was moments later that she noticed Havock at her side firing with the remaining of her blasters.

"It would seem to me that these guys are determined to get that necklace back." Bright said through gritted teeth. Her right arm and hand began to tingle, a sign that numbness would follow shortly.

Havock did not answer as she coolly fired and hit her mark. Bright looked to her left almost surprised to see a familiar face from her past. Where did she come from? She asked herself glancing at Mai. The sergeant couldn't deny that she felt remarkably better knowing she was here to watch their backs.

Taking another look around at everyone around her and the chaos continuing to erupt in spurts. She took down another of the ambushers down and nearly jumped to her feet when she saw Sara slip through the crossfire and take off.

"I don't think so, not this time." She said taking aim and grazing the woman's leg enough to make her stumble and hit the floor. "Mai!" Bright called to the Cathar woman. "Grab her!" She shouted over the din and noise indicating Sara cursing and struggling to her feet again.

Bright couldn't help but grin as she heard Mai let out a low growl and watched as the Cathar sprang to action. The red headed veteran felt a twinge of envy at the grace and speed that Mai possessed. And the fact that she grabbed Sara before the crafty woman could get far made Bright doubly envious. It was chasing Sara that had gotten her wounded in the first place.

The sound of the skirmish dying out brought Bright's attention back to the situation at hand. The service hall was littered with bodies but from what Bright could tell none of them were from RAIDERS. She breathed a heavy relieved sigh and sat hard against the wall.

Havock helped drag the last of the subdued bodies into one of the storage closets in the service area they had been ambushed in. "This is lovely, just lovely."

"At least we still have the necklace." Jaenna shrugged.

The squad leader rolled her head, trying in vein to loosen the tight muscles in her neck. Sara had been re-captured by Mai and was growling in the corner. "Okay we need to find out where these people are from and keep that necklace in our hands, speaking of." Havock motioned to Verk. "Hand it over."

"But..."

"Don't argue, Karash told us how long each of us can hold it. And you only get thirty minutes. Now its my turn."

The medic made a scoffing noise. "Great, now you are going to pass out for sure. Anyone else I would just be slightly concerned, you I'm following around with a streatcher."

Skarr walked over to stand next to Mai, just in case Sara decided to move. He was defintly favoring his injury. Havock had to wonder how every mission, especially the ones that should be easy, always ended up with everyone injured. "So what now."

"That woman, I could care less what she knows save one tiny bit of information. I want to know where this scientist woman is. And she just happens to have been in her stateroom. So who would like to ask the lady nicely where her friend is staying?"

Skarr raised his hand, "I will." He walked closer to Sara and grabbed her arm. He made her sit down on one of the pipes and bent down to where their faces were level.

"Now, where's your scientist friend?" Skarr asked as nicely as he could. She stared at Skarr and turned her head to the side in defiance. He sighed, he knew she'd resist. Skarr shifted the DC in his hands.

"If you don't tell us ma'am, I'm going to have to shove this Deece up your thermal exhaust port," Skarr said still as polite as could be.

Sara took the hint, "I'm sure Malerie has recovered her by now." Skarr sighed along with the rest of the squad. This was all a wild bantha chase.

Skarr turned to Havock, "Why would it matter if we find this scientist, we've got the necklace?" Havock only glared at Skarr and now it was his turn to take the hint. He turned back to Sara.

"So where did Malerie take her?" Skarr questioned. Sara seemed to think on this for a little while.

"To the docking bay. We have a transport there." Sara confessed. Skarr turned to Havock and she nodded in approval. Mai grabbed Sara and they began walking again.

“When this is over, I’m going to take my time with you.”

Mai flicked her golden gaze briefly to the woman in her grasp, who was now regarding  her with openly displayed hatred etched across the features of her face. Sara twisted again in a calculated display of defiance, both fists closing where they were securely restrained in bindings, “You don’t know who you’re dealing with.”

“What did I tell you about talking?” Mai snarled back at her, her anger only partly for show. Her captive had been nothing but trouble since she’d first crossed paths with the Vast Empire squad and had proven unusually persistent in her repeated attempts to escape. If Havock hadn’t shown such an interest in the woman Mai would not have hesitated in slugging a few rounds into her chest and ending the whole frustrating charade. As it was she was forced to chase the infuriating woman about every time she decided to make a break for freedom.

“You stupid bitch,” Sara hissed back at her, “You think I’m scared of you? You’re just a lackey, a human lapdog....”

Mai jerked the woman upright and cut her off mid sentence. Her eyes narrowed and her tone became ominously soft as she interrupted, “If you keep talking I will kill you. Believe that. I don’t care about your pathetic life. My comrades have made me endure you thus far but if you dare to continue insulting me you won’t pull another breath.” She shook Sara violently before continuing, “Do you understand?”

Sara face contorted momentarily as she struggled with her anger, before she clenched her jaw and reluctantly nodded. Instant death was a powerful threat. No matter how angry she might have been, survival was always high on the list of anyone’s agenda.

“Mai?” Havock was watching closely from where she had paused at the other side of the service corridor, one hand on the door, “Everything alright?”

Mai lowered Sara, working her mouth into the imitation of a human smile, “Fabulous.”

Havock regarded her for a second, obviously unsure about the tag along member of her squad. She knew virtually nothing about the Cathar woman and her background except from a brief account from Verkur, and a nod of recommendation from Bright.  Bright’s endorsement had been a deciding factor in her decision to allow her to come along. Mai was more than aware of that fact, and quietly grateful of it. She was not at all keen to head back to Tadath and face court martial for disobeying the orders of two superior officers, no matter how utterly moronic both of them had been.

“Alright,” Havock opened the door and briefly examined the corridor outside, “Let’s move.”

The small group followed closely on her heels as Havock lead them out of the maze beneath the hotel and back into the open corridors near the main foyer. Mai pulled Sara closer as she strode behind Verkur, positioning her knife carefully under the woman’s ribs where she could feel the blade. If she tried at all to gather attention to herself and the rest of the squad Mai could ensure that air didn’t reach her lungs for any further dramatics.

“Hangar is this way,” Verkur touched Havock lightly on the shoulder, then span down a side corridor and took the lead. The others followed for a few hundred meters, following a series of twisting corridors that lead them further and further away from the bustling section of the hotel and into areas that were obviously utilized by staff members. They paused near a small kitchen for a moment, long enough for Mai to recognize the distinct smell of Dewback ribs, before taking a sharp left and entering a small turbolift. They all crowded in, stamping on each other’s feet as they attempted to cram into the tiny space. Luckily the ride up towards the surface was brief, and they were able to stumble free of the confining lift bare seconds later.

“Stay alert,” Verkur’s small blaster appeared back in his hand, “It’s just around the corner.”

The group complied, weapons appearing from beneath cloaks and folds of clothing as they moved out from the corridor and into a wide hallway towards a rusted looking blast door. Beneath the door a small hangar stretched out into the distance, its duracrete floor gleaming from a recent polish. Apart from a collection of crates and boxes overflowing with what seemed to be spare mechanical parts there were only two ships parked towards the magnetic field to the far end of the hangar. One was a Theta class escort shuttle, the hotel symbol plastered along the edge of both sides of its metallic exterior. The other was a heavily modified Lambda class shuttle, painted in a hideous shade of neon green.

“That’s the one,” Sara spoke up, unnecessarily tilting her head towards the green shuttle.

“No, really?” The dark haired woman to whom Mai had not been introduced gifted Sara with scathing look, sarcasm virtually dripping from her voice. She turned to Havock, “Ayme, this has to be a trap.”

“At least we’re developing a knack for springing them and surviving,” Havock replied. She raised her own blaster and nodded at the others, “Stick close. Let’s see if we can steal this ride.”

Another trap, Skarr thought, Big surprise. The Lambda shuttle was the worst eyesore Skarr had ever seen. He held the DC rifle in his hands. That would make matters easier, a heavier weapon would help against the inevitable armory the enemy would have.

The squad strode towards the shuttle almost casually, despite the weapons they held. There were only a few visible guards outside the shuttle for the moment, but Skarr expected that to change.

Especially when Havock pulled the trigger of her blaster and blew away the first guard with deadly accuracy. The rest of the squad fired, taking out the guards surrounding the shuttle. Skarr could see Sara inching away from Mai and grabbed her by the hair.

"Sorry miss, we can't exactly let you go," Skarr apologized cheerfully. Still holding on to her hair, he fired at the guard coming down the landing ramp. Havock and her squad surrounded the shuttle now.

"Alright guys, we're going in. Skarr, Jaenna, and Karash with me, the rest will stay and guard the shuttle," Havock announced. The squad nodded and the soldiers going with Havock gathered around the loading ramp.

Havock gestured them inside and Skarr took point. After all, he did have the rifle. They immediately encountered three guards and they were quickly dispatched.

"Shall we continue?" Skarr asked, waving Havock onwards.

Allowed to keep the blaster she'd borrowed from Havock Bright gripped it tight in her left hand. Her right, despite Karash's best efforts hung numb at her side. Privately she was glad she didn't have to enter the ship with the squad leader, though she was certain something was going to go wrong.

As if on cue, Bright heard a distinct THUNK! and then THUD! The sound of Havock's voice saying, "Frak!"

That was literally all Bright needed to override any sense of self preservation she had left. She made her way to enter the shuttle but found her arm caught in a strong clawed hand. Looking up into the face of her Cathar comrade Bright just grinned and shrugged, pulling her arm free. "Don't worry about me." She said and entered the ships main entrance with her borrowed blaster drawn and ready.

"Jae! Kill that bastard already!" Havock yelled above the sound of blaster fire.

"I'm getting there!" Jaenna responded. Still to this day Bright was amazed the relationship these two women shared with each other.

Coming around a corner Bright saw the situation for what it was. A trap sprung, that had the Raiders inside trapped and cornered. Karash lay on the floor out cold and apparently bleeding from a head wound while Havock kneeled over him doing her best to staunch the flow and muttering to herself. Jae was in guard position over the two of them firing as fiercely as any wild animal Bright had ever seen. But where was the rookie?

As if in answer to her silent question, Skarr was thrown against the bulkhead cracking his head against it. She shook her head when she saw that the man had no weapon in his hands. Bright decided to make her presence known when a huge mountain of a man came around the bend after Skarr.

He was a big one too. He had several blaster shots in his torso and arms many of which were still smoking. Bright squared her shoulders and took aim but waited. When the man opened his mouth to speak, Bright pulled off three shots with deadly accuracy and in rapid succession. The mountain didn't know what hit him. His mouth remained gaping and smoking but through it one could see that the blaster bolts had gone all the way through the back of his mouth and through the very top of his spine.

Skarr lay there shocked for a moment before he turned and saw Bright standing there. Her face was set and her hand was still in position for another shot. The big man crashed to the ground, dead.

Without a word she made her way to Jae's side and took aim at another target and fired. With Bright's help the fire fight was over in moments. Jae lowered her weapon and nodded to Bright. Bright nodded back and then indicated Havock.

"You might want to grab that canister from her. She's quickly nearing the end of her time up and she's the only medic we have left for the moment." Bright couldn't remember ever sounding so logical.

The prone figure laid out before her at the foot of the transport entry ramp, blurred out of focus for the third time since she knelt down to examine him. Karash had taken a nasty hit but it looked like he would survive. They needed to get off the watery grave they were in though.

Having a transport there at the squad’s disposal, was like hitting a fast forward button on the whole mission. At first, Havock thought that they would have to wait several more hours before they could sneak off the hotel and return to the mainland where their ship was waiting. Now they were able to leave without further disruption. The last thing they or the Vast Empire needed was the local authorities pissed off about the covert mission they had just clumsily pulled off. The important thing was that they had the necklace and if they could get to the shuttle they could get it contained and stop the damn radiation from leaking into their bodies and making them nauseous as hell. Or was that just her.

When she looked up to examine the transport she almost fell backwards from the dizziness. She was able to make out the words “TransCorp”, written across the side in basic. Havock tried to focus on the letters and found herself failing miserably then two hands grabbed her seconds before she hit the hanger floor. “Dammit Ayme.” She rubbed her eyes and tried to focus again, she didn’t remember tipping over. Her hands started to push away the new person who was riffling through her pockets looking for the canister. “Woman, how many pockets do you have?”

Someone shook her in a not so gentle way. “Ayme!” Her eyes rolled and finally managed to focus on Jaenna’s face. “You have to be the stupidest smart person I know.” The blue eyes broke contact and nodded to someone near Havock’s thigh. She didn’t have time to refocus before Brightstar stabbed her leg with the anti-radiation meds. “Geeze Bright, you didn’t have to enjoy that.”

“Jaenna, she’s your problem. Please find a way to talk sense into her, one of these days.”

Jae sighed and ran her free hand through her dark hair. “Come on. Time to go, hun.” She helped the still spinning Havock to her feet then laughed slightly under her breath. “You’re a walking disaster, but still kinda cute. Let’s go find you a chair, ya?”

Havock stayed silent, just continuing to stare while doing her best not to lose her lunch on the hanger bay floor.

“Vera! Run!” Mai quickly grabbed the screaming Sara and in a swift motion raised her blaster pistol to the nervous looking doctor that had just entered the room.

Doctor Vera Snyder had her hands raised in submission to the squad of troopers. “Please just let her go.” She pleaded, her eyes were wet with worry.

Jaenna paused at the top of the landing ramp with a still uncoordinated Havock attached to her shoulder. Verkur took several steps forward positioning himself between Sara and Doctor Snyder but out of reach of Mai’s pistol. “Look lady, we are taking this transport and the necklace and there’s noth-“

“I don’t care about the transport or the energy module, take them both. Just let her go.” She stood there with tears now falling from her eyes. She was wearing a coat with the name ‘Knowles Labs’ embroidered on the chest above a pocket. Vera had her brown hair tied back and looked like she was about to throw her smudged glasses across the room. There was nothing threatening about the woman in the least right now.

Verkur stood there with a raised eyebrow. Mai looked at him, waiting for her orders, she didn’t seem to care what they were either way. Bright had knelt by Karash, she was getting him prepped to move into the transport once Havock was settled.  Skarr had his hand on his blaster rifle, ready to finish the job and leave just like everyone else at that moment.

“I let you two go, you can run off and tattle on us. I don’t like those odds lady.” Verk slowly raised his rifle.

“Look I’m just a Knowles lab tech, I built an energy module. That’s it. They made me transport it to TransCorp because they thought they were giving me a vacation or something, I don’t know. Sara she just works for TransCorp, she’s just a security guard. We are nobody. You want the damn thing you can have it, I don’t care.” Suddenly her posture shifted slightly, she seemed to get more confident as she prepared what she had to say next. “If you are going to kill her though, kill us both, and stop debating about it. Just do it dammit.”

Havock chuckled under her breath. “I get it, heh heh.”

Jae looked at her oddly for a second then rolled her eyes and pushed her into the transport getting her secured in a passenger chair. “Stay. Don’t make me sedate you.” She tried to sound serious but the smirk on her face betrayed her. She hesitated but turned and left the very loopy squad leader in the vacant transport.

When she returned Bright was carrying Karash up the ramp and two very important people were missing. "Verk, where in the hell is Snyder and Sara?"

He shrugged, passing a still vigilant Mai and Skarr. "What can they do, I took their comms and we've killed all of their people. Right now its more important to get out of here. And she is in no condition to make this decision so it was mine, its done. Let's go." He brushed past the former squad leader and silently made his way into the transport.

"Does anyone know how to fly this thing?" Skarr did not look happy but he was trying to hide that.

Havock tried to raise her hand and succeeded in only whacking the appendage on the chair she was attached to. "Oooh oohh, I can fly ships. I'm good at that."

"Yes, of course you are dear. Any other volunteers." Jaenna looked around.

"I've got it. I'll also go put this away." Brightstar shook her head at the two women and made her way to the cockpit which also had the containment device designed to hold the energy module.

"Great, lets all find our seats and get ready for a smooth ride home." Verkur smirked and headed towards an empty chair.

A single word resounded from the walls of the cockpit. "Shit." Then a red-head came bursting though the doors. "Problem, big problem."

"What now?" Mai groaned walking away from a computer terminal in the passenger area. She must have been informing whoever she was traveling with of her deviation in company for the journey home.

"Its the damn containment field. I guess the company didn't really trust these ladies, they rigged the containment shell and I just set it off. So now they can track us, we need to move."

"If we can get back to our transport we should be okay though right?" Skarr muttered.

Bright was already back in the cockpit and all the others could do was shrug.

OOC:
We are on their transport, which will get us back to the capital city. We need to ditch this ride and get on ours before the TransCorp guys catch up with us. They will be trying to get us from their transport since we have effectivly subdued Sara and her peeps. So hurry up and get on the RAIDERS transport. By the time we get there Havock will be in better shape, but Karash is KOed for the rest of the trip.

The transport shot out of the landing bay like a bat out of hell. Bright took the ship to full speed, she seemed to realize the urgency of getting to their transport. Skarr sat in co-pilot's seat, watching out of the window.

TransCorp would be after them soon and it was imperative for RAIDERS to be off planet by then. Skarr rubbed his head, it still hurt where it had hit the bulkhead. Havock was in the back stretched out on a bunk. Jaenna was with Karash, making sure he didn't get any worse. Karash was in the ship's small mediacl bay. Verk was somewhere in the bowels of the ship, waiting. And Mai sat in the navigator's chair, behind Skarr.

Bright was locked in concentration with the controls and Skarr watched their sensors. They didn't want TransCorp sneaking up on them. The time to the capital was a tense one, but uneventful, TransCorp must've thought they had everything under control.

City Control gave them no problems, they had been expecting a TransCorp ship and they were put down in a docking bay. Skarr went back into the ship and woke Havock from her small nap. They walked into the med bay to find Karash still knocked out.  Verk and Skarr hauled his strectcher to the landing ramp.

It opened slowly and a cloud of dust flew in. Among the dust was something else, a blaster bolt. TransCorp, it seemed, had found them.

"Guys, they've found us!" Skarr shouted.

Havock laid in the cot for a few seconds. There was no telling what they would find, and they had to get the module from its containment on the TransCorp ship to the RAIDERS transport. She rolled her feet to the floor and rubbed her eyes. A small figure easily walked in and sat next to her on the cot.

"Feel better, dumbass?"

She chuckled, leave it to Jaenna to know what to say even if the majority of the squad would never understand the two of them. "Yes, all except my head. Which feels like it got hit by a passenger transport."

"Serves you right." Jaenna nudged Havock with her shoulder.

"Ha, yea, love you too."

A loud noise cut off any further conversation between the two. They both turned with little surprise towards the doorway, Havock sighed, "Ah well, back to work then?"

Jaenna nodded soberly. "Yea I guess so."

She quickly collected her weapons that had been left on the table in the small passenger room. The transport had proven to be much bigger than she thought at first glance. Not that it mattered, they wouldn't be taking the thing anywhere beyond the Capital City's hanger bay. The RAIDERS transport was parked a good 500 meters across the tarmac from where they over looked a sea of TransCorp goons heading towards them blasters already flying bolts.

Havock took a peek out the entry ramp and immediately slammed herself flush against the wall to avoid getting shot. "So this is not their diplomatic corps then I take it."

"Gee what was your first clue." Jaenna knelt at her feet so she could fire off a few shots towards the impending stampede.

"Shame, I figured you could negotiate for us."

"Sometimes I really think you like being shot at."

Havock shrugged. "It's a living."

"Ladies, not to interrupt, but we do have a situation here." Verkur was against the opposite wall but aligned himself in a blind spot so the TransCorp mercs couldn't reach hit him.

"Bright?"

The red head snapped her attention to the squad leader on the opposite side of the entry ramp. "Right, I have the energy module. I set a countdown on my datapad so I don't end up being carried like you and Skarr. If we can get across this blasted hanger bay we'll be fine. The transport has a containment field designed for this thing."

Karash's prone form had been moved about half a meter behind Bright's position, he didn't look to be waking from his slumber any time soon. Fantastic, so we need to carry him.

"Mai, have anything that will level the playing field?"

The cathar woman made a low rumbling growl. She swiftly reached behind her into her pack and pulled out a detonator of some sort. Havock could see her smile slightly as she chucked the devise into the hanger with little ceremony, then pulled back ducking from the blast. "Oh shit."
Havock grabbed the still shooting Jae by the shoulders and yanked them both to the floor just as the flashbang went off, causing the transport to shake slightly.

Jae looked oddly at Havock as they both laid on the floor. "Seriously, you can tell me to duck yanno."

"Maybe I just like tackling you, yanno." She smirked and grabbed Jaenna by the arm as they both stood up. "Let's move. Skarr, Bright get Karash."

They made it half way across the hanger with bolts randomly flying around as they ran. Havock stayed close to Skarr and Bright as they awkwardly carried Karash. Then a new bank of blaster bolts soared through the smokey air towards the confused TransCorp mercs still trying to get their vision back and the dashing RAIDERS.

"And those would be the police." Verk pointed towards a collection of cargo sitting out prepped to be put on one of the transport ships. The luggage was just bulky enough to adequately cover the squad from the new firefight.

"Well here's the good news, they are all distracted." Brightstar smirked and looked at the tired faces around her.

Verk smiled. "That they are."

Havock glanced over a rather ornate piece of luggage. She pushed back the thought that people really shouldn't spend so many credits on something has silly as luggage. She shook her head and watched the scene before her. The mercs were dropping from the stun bolts they couldn't see beyond a blurry light flying towards them seconds before they fell to blackness.

"Go."

They all ran, ducking behind other various crates or ship loading equipment littered along the otherwise open path to the transport. Jaenna, who was by far the fastest runner, darted up to the transports door and frantically pushed buttons to get the ramp open. Mai scampered up behind Jae, "need some help with that?"

Jaenna scoffed, "no." She growled and cursed a bit as a bolt exploded a bit too close to her hands for comfort, before half turning quickly in Mai's direction. "You could cover me."

"Right." Mai hissed.

The door finally released and began to lower just as the rest of the group arrived. Bright and Skarr ran through immediately to get Karash and the module secure. Havock continued to cover fire as she stood at the open hatch. "Time to go ladies." The three troopers turned and jogged through the ship leaving Jaenna to secure the hatch.

Havock dove into the pilots chair and quickly started the ignition sequence.

"You sure you're okay to fly?" Brightstar came in behind her and sat in the co-pilot's chair doing what she could to assist.

"Yes. The module?"

"Secured."

Havock slammed her fist into the final button and smirked as the engines fired. She could see a group of police pointing and yelling at the transport uselessly. She glanced at them one final time before turning the helm towards the stars and pushing the throttle for all it was worth.
