New recruit Maroy here, got kicked off Ryloth thanks to that no-good cousin of mine who got the ja'gyn flu just as I got promoted. Anyway, I'm hoping I can put some of my training to good use in the Imperial Navy.

The Vast Empire Navy welcomes you, Crewman.

I am Warrant Officer 1st Class Hunter-Morrell, the Naval Training Executive Officer (or NTX for short) for the Vast Empire Navy, and I will be helping you today.

Now that you have posted a welcome message here on the Naval Academy board, you completed Imperial Initiation and have started Basic Training. BT, as it is called, is mostly Flight School, which prepares you for daily life in a squadron.

The first step in Flight School is to complete Chapter 1, which can be found here.

Our method of writing here in the Vast Empire Navy (and the Vast Empire) is to write in third person. Please do so. If you have any questions, feel free to ComNet PM myself for guidance or hop on IRC and go to the Naval Academy channel which is #VENA. Good Luck.

o    Gender: Female
o    Skin Color: Bright green

Physical Description
o    Living on starvation fare in a barren desert environment for several years has made Maroy very thin and lightweight. Her bright-green skin has a big splotch on the back the same color as her eyes. She has used her dancing skills and her slender body to an advantage numerous times to escape captivity. Her typical off-duty outfit is a ceremonial set of armor, more ornamental than functional.

Character’s Background
o    Maroy was living the dream at first. Born to a higher-up clan, she enjoyed the highest level of comfort, and was never short of anything. That is, until her sister stole a precious metal statue and hid it in their joint apartment. The enraged over-clan member immediately exiled the entire clan to the Brightlands, the side of Ryloth that was locked in eternal sunlight. After killing the girl who had caused the whole mess, the clan decided to devote their remaining existence to ensuring at least one member survived: the criminal’s innocent sister, Maroy. After days of walking, the clan stumbled across an entire convoy of wrecked supply vessels, apparently on their way to nourishing a small colony. Taking advantage of this, and seeing that there was plenty of non-perishable food, the clan promptly set up camp, taking refuge inside the largest vessel. Years went by, and Maroy grew from a young adolescent to a 17-year-old. She had been gripped with a burning desire to leave the planet, so she quickly set to work reading the manuals and figuring out how the ships worked. She discovered she had a remarkable talent for machinery. Normally it was considered petty labor and so was not taught to her. By combining the working parts from all the ships, she was able to cobble together a decent starfighter, complete with twin laser cannons. After saying goodbye to her fellow clan members, who knew their lives were short, she blasted away from the planet- immediately running into a rebel warship. After being taken aboard, she was interrogated, but quickly learning she knew nothing of value, they assigned a guard to her and forced her to repair and upgrade the various fighters that had fallen into disrepair. She finally found her chance for escape a few months later when, believing her to no longer pose a threat, the rebels swapped her large, tough guard for a simple trooper. Distracting her guard with an alluring dance, she led him behind a pile of debris and promptly knocked him out. She stole his ID badge and used it to steal his A-wing fighter. As soon as they realized what had happened, they immediately sent multiple fighters after her. She was very clumsy with the controls, and she quickly lost what little shielding the agile fighter had to missiles. She thought she was doomed, until a imperial strike force suddenly warped in and began attacking the rebel warship. Faced with a greater threat, the rebel fighters immediately withdrew their attack on her. The battle was short but bloody. The rebel fighters were able to hold off the imperials long enough for their flagship to escape with heavy damage, but they themselves did not survive. Upon capturing her ship and learning her story, the imperials gave her two options: enlist in the navy, or serve as a slave. She was much more interested in the former.

Personality
o    Maroy does not have much experience with the galaxy. As growing up in a harsh climate among a few old people is not especially conducive to social interaction, she is typically shy around strangers and doesn’t talk much. She can also be immature and downright childish sometimes, but her mechanical skills more than make up for it. She mostly relies on tricks and stealth instead of brute force, due to her Twi-lek nature.

Ok, here's my bio. Wiki page is done, and my ID Line is: TRN/CRW Maroy/none/none/none/none/none/none/none/VEN/VE.

Few things I'd like to point out. Just how did living in a barren desert environment make you agile and lightweight? The dancing thing is fine, I have no issues with that. The lekku thing is another matter. Lekku are braintails, which means they hold part of the Twilek's brain. Saying that your lekku's size fluctuates would be akin to saying that your head (in real life of course) fluctuates size and just how realistic does that sound? Unless you can find a very, and I mean very, good reason to keep it, I suggest you take that part out.
Maroy wrote:After stealing a large amount of sensitive info, she found her starfighter (which the rebels had been nice enough to upgrade for their own use) and fled the warship as fast as her sublight engines could go. She was pursued by all manner of rebel fighters, but only the outdated A-wings could keep up with her. Despite her clumsiness with the controls, she was able to stay alive long enough for an ISD to show up and obliterate the remaining rebel forces. Recognizing her as an enemy of the rebels, they offered her the chance to join them and help destroy the rebels, which she quickly took.

A few more things here to bring to light. First off, please elaborate on the "stealing the info" part. Second, the whole starfighter things. I have a few points to make about this, the first point being that the Rebels would probably not be able to update your "cobbled together" starfighter, at least not in that time period. They would need at least a few weeks, if not a month to do it, due to the numerous parts that would have to be found that would actually fit the fighter and work in harmony with all the other parts. So that part is out. Also, I don't care how "good" your fighter is, I seriously doubt it could beat A-Wings in a race. The A-Wing is one of the fastest ships in the galaxy, even if it isn't "upgraded". Unless your fighter is equipped with an engine from an A-Wing, you won't be winning any races against those suckers. Not only are they speedy little devils, they're highly maneuverable with blaster cannons that can rotate up and down. That means, unless you're an ace pilot with thousands of hour logged in flight and you're going up against some rookies, you won't win.

If I sound harsh, I'm sorry. I'm not meaning to. I suggest reading up on stuff on Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki.

You're right. In retrospect, most of that stuff really doesn't make sense, especially the lekku thing. That's what I get for trying to write at 3:00 in the morning   I'll fix that up sometime tonight.

Okay, I think it seems a little more plausible now I edited my previous post and my wiki page.

Also, regarding the wiki, are there any rules about uploading pictures straight to the wiki? I like to make 3D renders of my characters and don't really have any other hosting options.

Nope. No restrictions. Well, as long as you don't upload any rated R images, you'll be fine.

Well, that kind of goes without saying I think I'll be spending my valentine's day re-reading the Thrawn-era books (parents have a whole shelf of sci-fi books )

I knew a girl name Maroy once...  But, that was a long time ago...

Welcome to the club!  And good for you!  I'll hopefully be spending it speed dating, as the only good relationship is one that ends quickly.

Lol- that last part was a joke.  Uhhh- enjoy!

Son of a gun. I completely forgot about you, sorry. If you can head on over to the Raptor Training Squadron topic on the Navy Main Comnet and post there, I'll give you your instructions.
