IntroductionQuite a bit to report this week, although it's not all entirely complete. But nonetheless, it's out there for you folks to know.
Vast Empire Task ForcesSome of you may have no doubt noticed the wiki work that I have been going with, namely
this page.
The list is certainly not complete, but I want to expand upon what they are:
A Task Force is the smallest
independent operating unit in the Vast Imperial Navy.It is typically commanded by an admiral and ranged from 14 to 60 ships, depending upon composition.
There are four types of Task Forces:
- Light Task Forces patrolled areas known to be safe with two attack lines, a skirmish line and a reconnaissance line.
- Heavy Task Forces engaged planetary systems that possessed known enemy presences, with either two heavy attack lines, an attack line and a reconnaissance line for situations where the enemy's position and composition was unknown, or with three heavy attack lines and a skirmish line for situations where the enemy was known to be defending a fixed asset.
- Battle Task Forces contained an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. In addition to the Star Destroyer, there were at least three lines, two attack lines and one pursuit line, for an average of 18 ships. The mere arrival of a Battle Task Force, and more importantly, an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, was often enough to put down a planetary revolt or scare off an armed space-threat.
- Bombard Task Forces subjugated worlds in open rebellion that had developed planetary defenses including multilayered planetary shields and large planetary guns with four torpedo spheres, a skirmish line, and a pursuit line.
That aside, let's see how to read the chart, shall we?
- Task Force Name - these are assigned via the Aurebesh alphabet.
- Ship Thumbnail - Gives you a general idea as to what the ship looks like.
- Ship Role - What purpose the ship fills within the Task Force.
- Ship Name and Type/Class - The name of the ship, and what kind of ship it is, usually includes a link to more information.
- Ship Commander - Whom commands the ship. Right now, I am focusing on only giving these to the flagships, but I will eventually have them for everyone.
- Additional Notes - This will typically state what units are attached to the ship. It may also include customization notes.
Realistic Squadron ExperienceThere have been updates to this system since you've last seen it. We will be carrying forth with a four flight squadron at this time, which you are all still technically under. If it is later determined that this fourth flight is not needed, squadrons will be reverting back to the three-flight system.
Here's a
possible arrangement of you folks can be allotted:

And when will the RES be implemented? As of this time, it is planned to be inserted when current stories finish, as to avoid causing confusion when the roster does not show the current story arrangement. That means Viper is looking at about December 12th, and Nazgul is most likely going to have it around January 2nd. So, stay tuned for that

All Naval Personnel StoryComing in the beginning of January, there will be a story involving all of us here in the Vast Imperial Navy. Not only will we pull together both squadrons, but also will we involve every NPC squadron in the First Vast Imperial Wing (the elite wing, if you will). So, expect Aegis, Polaris, Blizzard, and Kaph to make appearances.
This story will change a lot for the Navy and drive many of our future story arcs. Essentially, we are moving forward a month in the Star Wars timeline (the army is doing this as well with their HSC). So, essentially we are actually moving forward in getting out of the year of 9 ABY... after at least 6 years of writing about it. Slowly, but surely we'll get there.
As this story affects our canon to a large degree, I will be directly involved in running it. As of now, it is
not a competition, but that is not unreasonable to assume it
could become one in the planning stages, which are still underway. Most likely it will not, but if Naval Activity can support it, then most certainly we will consider such an option.
But, not only will I be writing along with you folks, so will your Wing Commander, Atrasin. Perhaps other commanders may join in, or at least make cameos. This story serves a metaphor for the dawning of a new age for the Navy, and I'm sure you'll be impressed with the connections and underlying themes by the end.

LogisticsI'm actually still looking for folks to fill the Logistics Staff, if you think you can assist with my duties, by all means shoot me a PM.
I'm ideally looking for folks who know their way around the wiki, but I do have other duties that don't even require looking at the wiki... presuming you don't mind a little repetition work.
ConclusionLogistics just keeps rolling, always busy. If we can't get something where it needs to be, it doesn't need to be there.

This is First Lieutenant Oops, your Logistics Officer, signing off.
