hey guys,
so i decided to post right now seeing i can still work eith my fingers thus far.
today went pretty well, we got lost but didn't have all the digits of the number we needed to call to advise them of our delay, turns out we were a half hour late but it was all good.
So I go down to the docks with my Helper as the officials call our buddies which I had all season so trust wasn't an issue there. Unfortnayely though the club's sprint akyaks had been bright down there on the practice day so all they could do was give me 30 seconds of coahing before the three-minute to start call was called.
A few meters from the start line, I flip, my first one of the day so the rescur boat comes to haul me out of the water and back in my kayak at my request.
So they drop me off a few metres from the start line and the race starts, halfway through I end up flipping again, the same dudes come to fish me out of the water and drop me off at the docks to change into dry clothing before medals were handed out, was only a two hundred mettre race so it was quite short.
get changed, go back out and get my medal, there was n bronze, silver or gold as the Disabled races are mostly for fun and practice so it just says Paddle All 2009 on it with a sort of logo and two sides were of a different colour. One was bronze and the other was gold-ish.
i was number six and had o wear a tight white sort of game shirt on top of thelife jacket which made for a straight jacket when wet and made it hard to remove.
And as for the reaosns for my flips...the little time and zero experience I have with the type of kayak, if oly they could go straight...Things would've been perfect but I wasn't sure of the best technique on how to use the toggle for the rudder that is used for steering those kayaks, your legs are half out in the air so when I turned my ankle your weight shifted slightly which helped alot for a tipping party :P
