Vermin steps off the tram and looks around as he gets ready for his first day at the Academy. He holds his breath as a officer goes around greeting everyone and handing them a sheet of paper with precise direction on how to go to our rooms, unpack our belongings, make our beds, and what times to be at mess. Vermin was very excited knowing he had made the right choice by joining the Navy and not the Army. After the Petty Officer relieves them Vermin grabs his bag and heads straight for the dorms.
He reaches his dorm room with no problem and takes a look in. "It is quite small even for Imperial standards" he thinks. There are two bunk beds and now he has the feeling that he will not be alone through this venture at the Academy. He looks at the sheet one final time and then begins to unpack his things. He picks up a T-shirt he got at high school. "Man that shirt brings back memories. I wish I never had to leave, but everyone has to be a man sooner or later." Another guy walks in and Vermin waves, but the guy just nods and sits his stuff down. Vermin begins to make his bed.
"How do I do this again. I remember doing it in those camps I used to go to, but I want it to look perfect." Just then a Petty Officer walks in and checks everything. He walks right up to Vermin and looks at him from head to toe. "Tidy yourself up cadet, your Imperial property now." He then looks in the locker and sees his Civilian clothing. "Looks like we need to get you some new threads. Follow me, Cadet." Vermin follows the officer to a building named "Processing" and goes inside. There he sees rows upon rows of shirts, pants, hats, boots, and PT shirts. He tells the lady behind the counter what size he wears and is given one of each. The petty officer then tells him to fall out.
Later that night Vermin is in bed thinking to himself. "Man, for a first night this isn't that bad. I know its going to get worse, but this isn't bad though." He tucks himself in and slowly drifts away.

Welcome to the VE Vermin, I am not presently a member of the Flight School Staff, as I am on temporary Reserves Duty (have had internet problems, but got them fixed, just waiting for them to move me back) but one of the currently active Staffers should be with you soon. Good luck, this is a great organization, and I am proud to serve with them.

Hello Crewman, My name is Stormz, and I am the Training Executive Officer of the Vast Empire Naval Academy. I, along with, and Blue-Leader (Naval Training Officer) will guide you through your trainining period. If you have any questions at all, simply leave your them here. To get you started, I'm going to direct you to the flight school page where most of the training materials are kept. This can be found here. To begin your training, you must create a character in which you will use in the VE. Clicking on the link above directs you to flights school. once there, click on Chapter 1 entitled Character Development. Before going to Flight School, you may want to give Imperial Initiation (II) a quick read - it gives a short, simple, and to the point introduction to life as a pilot in the Star Wars universe. Once you have followed the instructions set out in Chapter 1, please post it here for marking, and we can advance you along to the next stage. During your training, I also recommend you get onto IRC (Or Internet Relay Chat). Most of the Vast Empire's active members frequent the IRC channels, so you will be able to find many friends and possibly a mentor in this place. To get onto IRC, either follow the "JavaChat" link from the main page (It's in the left hand column) or download an IRC client (e.g. mIRC) and follow the instructions in the Main Comnet forum. Vermin is a lanky guy standing at about 6'0" and weighing only 156 pounds. He has brown hair and it is a buzzcut. He fits into his clothes, but got teased for them being alittle baggy. Vermin has blue eyes and has a cut above his right eye from a excapade from when he wasn't in the Vast Empire. He walks around with a bit of a confident swagger and a smile whenever possible. His teeth arn't the whitest color, but he trys to brush when he can. Vermin is also a very hairy guy; he has constant stubble and his arms are hard to distinguish from mud.
Vermin is the guy who will smile and wave if he can. He plays the nice jock guy. He trys to balance the difference between his darker side and his warm, caring side. Vermin is known for having anger issues in the past and has even been in a bar fight or two. He is very violent when the situation calls for it and will leap for a chance of action. On the other hand, he is very polite and well mannered. Enjoys good company and loves music in the background.
Vermin has always wanted to be in the Vast Empire. Ever since he was a young boy he dreamed of being in a starship cruising through the universe blowing up the enemy. Yet as a kid he was a bit of a troublemaker. Leading a group of kids whom always picked on smaller less fortunate kids. One day a Stormtrooper comes to class and explains what it takes to become a soldier in the Vast Empire. From that day Vermin changed his gameplan. He dropped all his old friends and gained new smarter ones hopeing that he would pass the academy exams to become a member of the Vast Empire. In high school he took up sports and ended up becoming captain. He was overly aggresive and ended up cutting himself in the eye resulting in the scar he has now.
He won his high school state final game and celebrated with his friends. That was the last he saw of them because soon after he headed to the recruitment station to sign on the dotted line. A few days later the deal was done. He was a member of the armed forces of the Vast Empire. His dreams were being realized until he changed his mind. He doesn't care about being in the Vast Empire, but rather his next target provided by the Vast Empire. Now he wants the blood of the Rebels on his face and no one will stop him.

Very good effort, Crewman, especially on the wiki page. You have one of the best new member wikis I've seen. I am Drac, an Operator here at the Academy. Always good to see more new faces around here.
One thing you need to change: Earth does not exist in the Star Wars galaxy. As it says, "Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." Please change your home planet to a SW one and remove the state reference from the sports portion, since those aren't used in SW either.
Re-submit with those changes and you should be ready to go.

A Dogfight ---
Vermin has his eye on his opponent; a old Z-95 Headhunter. He was put on this mission to flush out pirates. As the fighters approach Vermin matches the Z-95's speed and course. He prepares to fire his lazers and begins to target so he will be percise. He takes a 75-degree turn to the left and whips up behind his opponent. Vermin is ready to fire a missile, but then the Z-95 takes a deep turn and trys to confront him. The Z-95 lets off a few warning shots to let Vermin know he is all business. Vermin knows what the Z-95 is doing and decides to focus all shield power to the rear. The Z-95 fires a volloy of shots only for Vermin to dodge every shot, but one that his shields deflect. The pirates mouth lays open in awe of the feat that Vermin had accomplished. The pirate then trys the same thing again, but this time he fires up and down. Again he misses and doesn't get a single shot in. He circles around and trys to go around, but Vermin cuts him off. Vermin fires a couple of shots to the Z-95's left wing and engine. One hits the armor of the ship, so Vermin knows that the ship has little to no shielding.
The Z-95 slows down to a halt and Vermin is forced to go ahead. The Z-95 then starts its engines and goes for a rear assualt of the ship again. He fires two shots and a begins targeting for a missile. The first two shots hit Vermin causing the ship to shake and rattle, but besides that everything looks ok. The missile is locked by this point and is ready to fire. The pirate fires the missile and Vermin trys to dodge it. Its getting closer to him as he is trying to figure out what to do. Then he thinks, a barrel roll! That should work, he begins a diagonal push on his control panel and begins to move around in circles. The missile doesn't leave though as it only begins to circle in the same manner. Vermin then remembers about countermeasures and releases it. The missiles blows up in the mess of garbage. Vermin goes back to the task at hand and begins to fire a load of shots directly at the Z-95. The hull can't stand the pressure of the shots and buckles. The pirate dies as Vermin celebrates his first win and his first near miss.
(I tryed to take into account that the Z-95 has very little shields and outdated munitions. I also tryed to make Vermin seem like a novice and also brought out a bit of the anger at the end. Don't know if its 250 words though. I didn't count.) |

Nice post. There are a few things to work on but you can do work on them once you are in a squadron. Here's a quick list:
- Substituting "He" for the name (i.e. The bandit, or his literal name), or callsign
- minor grammatical errors
- Block Form of writing
Like i said all minor things that we all have to work on :P

Anthony "Vermin" Ryder's Report: August 8, 2009
Activity: I joined the VE this week. I finished the first two chapter of the academy and am working on the third right now. The first had me make a bio and I made a mistake that I took care of. The second had me RP a dogfight. This was fun and I had to think about what to post because I didn't want it to be too boring. I also joined the IRC channel and chatted with some members.
Future Plans: I hope to pass my Aviation exam with flying colors and join a good squad. My only concern is my creativity which I will work on in the next couple of posts.
Q/A: I was wondering if this is just forum based RP, or if I am allowed to game and stuff as well?

There is some gaming here in the VE, though not a lot. It's mostly on a personal basis, meaning you'll have to seek out members to play with in the appropriate forum.
