Level One: Cover Tactics
Course: Fire Support Tactics

Leon woke up early since it was the day he was to commence his training exercise. He grabbed his helmet and put it on his head then slowly creped out the Storm Platoon base. Even though he really didn’t have to creep out the base he thought it would be good of him not to wake the others up of course. He made his way to the training grounds where the Drill Sergeant was waiting.

"Maci your early?" The Instructor said to Leon

"Yes I know but I cant wait to start my training" Leon said

The instructor showed Leon the position he needed to take. It was at shooting Range number "2". He look on the desk in front of him. On it was a Standard E-11 Blaster rifle which he was used to. He sighed waiting for instructions.

"Alright Private lets begin target Practice" The Drill Instructor barked

"Take up the E-11 and on my mark you will destroy as many targets as you can in 60 seconds, Do I make my self clear?" The Instructor said.

"Sir Yes Sir" Leon yelled

The instructor yelled 3, Leon took up the blaster and it was already aimed at the target by 2. He quickly lined up the shot at 1. "START" Leon began to fire at the target. 1 down, 2 down. He missed a target wasting about 2 bullets but he kept firing.

"Come on Maci you can do this in your sleep" The instructor barked once more.

Leon counted in his head that he had brought down 17 targets within his first 35 seconds. He kept firing until time was up. Leon sighed as he knew that this wasn't his best but it wasn't his worse either. It was simple target practice so hopefully it didn't mean much.

"Hmm about 26 targets in 60 seconds, That's not bad but I KNOW you CAN do BETTER which is what I expect to get out of you" The Instructor said.

"Yes Sir!" Leon said

"Now that's just your basic rifle but Heavy Weapons are much different, more powerful and it needs a real Specialist to do it effectively" The Instructor said.

"Now I'm going to have you a 2 other troopers tackle some droids, But your the main man who will give support fire to your squad mates" The instructor said

2 Troopers appeared with Blaster rifles in their hands and approached Leon.

"I'm Private 1st Class Jacob and this is Sergeant Castor" Jacob Said

"Nice to meet you both" Leon said

The Instructor told them to get into their positions. It seemed as like forever for Leon to get into the right area but it really wasn't far. He just thought it was forever because he was being a little impatient but he tried to stay focus and keep all other thoughts cleared. The Instructor signaled for them to start and blaster fire could be heard from both Castor and Jacob. Most likely Training Droids were deployed.

"Leon we are pinned down out here we need some tactics to take em out" Castor said through the Com.

"On my way" Leon said

As Leon made a dash towards the fire fight he could see a few openings. He reached Castor and Jacob. He pointed towards one of the openings.

"We can flank em from both sides but one of you has to go first so we can give you covering fire, With two people covering the flanker will be less likely to be shot in the back" Leon said.

Castor nodded and offered to go first. Jacob and Leon provided covering fire but the droids seemed to have the upper hand. Leon looked for Castor and saw no sign of him. Then a Ion grenade exploded blasting some of the droids away. Leon signaled Jacob to reach another flanking position and Jacob followed the order swiftly and quickly. Leon provided covering fire once more but it was less difficult now that the droids weren't paying attention to him making it easy to destroy them with ease. As Jacob reached the position he took out the remaining droids. It wasn't over though. More droids appeared from Leon's rear.

"Look out Maci" Yelled Jacob

Leon dashed towards a tree and he was taking heavy fire. Jacob came and took his place and Leon made a move towards another area. He lined up the shots and took down droids with good accuracy. The droids were smarter this time and they all turned to Leon's position. The droids suddenly stopped firing and marched into another direction.

"What?" Leon yelled

"Your training is done for today Private Maci return to Storm Platoon base" The Instructor said over the Com

"You did pretty good today but your tactics are lackadaisical and need a little bit a work because remember that your team mates aren't always there to help you" The Instructor said

Leon nodded and returned all the equipment to the Instructor then he went to sleep. He had more training to do after all.
