- OOC:
- Haha, just dug up something I found back on my old SW website (Drac will prob remember this...) Back then it was Podracing...
VE Swoop Racing.
Well here's the rules we used back then. It's modified for the VE of course; and it makes it so much more awesome now that we can purchase swoop bikes.
1. Your Application.Players will apply in a specified StoryNet forum (I'll construct it) where they will have a mini profile. It will look like this:

Players could then post it in their VE Profile Bio so that they could update it easier.
2. Now comes the actual gameplay. The game play is divided up into 3 sections. Namely:
Luck,
Skill, and
Racing factors.
2a.
Luck. Luck comes into play at the beginning, after players apply for a race. There may only be as many as 5-10 players per race, so after the players are determined, a mod randomly chooses a number between 1-(however many are playing) on IRC or by PM or something. The five players respond as quickly as possible with their choices. Each player may only choose one number, the closer you are to the chosen number the better of a starting position you have.
-Example. Say the number is 3 (out of 5). The person who chooses 3 will lead at the beginning of the race. Then the person who chooses 2, because it is the next closest other than 4, but it is not an overbid. Next will be 4 because it is the next closest, and next will be 1 because it is not the overbid, and last will be 5.
2b.
Skill. The skill factor is the part where you as a racer try to use all your resources, that you possibly can use, to outdo everyone else. As you post in the race, you use up 2 basic features that dramatically effect your standing in the race. The two features are:
Passing and
Dodging.
-
Passing. Each player has 10 chances to pass the person ahead of them. They do this within their post, and after they are done posting... they state in bold letters at the bottom how many passes that they have left. So if I use a pass to go in front of the person ahead of me, then i have 9 chances left. A player cannot pass two opponents at the same time.
-
Dodging. Each player has 5 chances to dodge obstacles ahead of them. The way that obstacles come into your path is simple. Every time that there is a leader up, he or she may choose to post that an obstacle is coming up. However, if they choose to post an obstacle, they themselves must use a "dodge factor" to go around it. If the leader has none left, then they cannot post an obstacle. Other rules are the same as passing.
2c.
Racing factors. The racing factors are the things that you use that are equipped upon your pod racer that you can use to your advantage. Things such as a small objects to throw at your opponents, or even pit droids. You buy racing factors at the at the imperial store, with ICs. Prize Money ICs are distributed after the race, with the winner receiving the most, and the others as they deserve. Racing factors all come with their own special features, such as adding another "pass" to your benefit, allowing you to get a free "dodge"; or removing dodges from other racers. However, only certain approved items in the imperial store will be allowed for usage in the races.
3. Playing the Game. Players play the game by posting their actions periodically after each other. Since it would be too confusing to have everyone post at the same time, there will be an order to which one can post. It starts with the leader, who can choose to post an obstacle, or who can choose to merely play out his turn. It then falls to the person in second, who may choose to take the lead, or if the leader made an obstacle, to dodge it. Play resumes down the line, until the last player has posted. After the last player has posted, then a lap is over, and the next one begins. There is no set amount of laps within a race, but the minimum for all of them is ten laps.
-Now lets say that Player A has posted his move and does nothing. Player B may choose to pass Player A. That means that the order has been switched up, and now A is behind B. Player A does not go next, instead the player who was not involved in the switch, Player C, will go. This could mean that a player that was at the front of a race could end up at the back. But remember... that is only the case if there are no obstacles in the way. If there are obstacles in the way, then a player may not pass in front, and must dodge... or he/she will be eliminated.
4. Now i will explain the order of play. This is the list which shows what happens during the race.
-A random number is chosen by the mod, and all players choose. Starting order is determined.
-The race begins, and players begin to post after the leader takes off.
-Racers use up their 'passes' and 'dodges', players are knocked out of the race when they run out of "dodges" and hit obstacles.
-The race ends, and the prize ICs are distributed.
Well... thats it pretty much. It was pretty fun back when I played it on my old site, but we didn't have a store or anything back then. If any of you would be interested, then say so, and if any of you have any ideas that would make this better or would make this work out, PLEASE SAY SO!
Maybe we can even get some more items in the imperial store for this if it picks up enough interest... Yea? Nay?
