He felt him before he saw him. He never felt his presence before.

He must have been pulsing waves of emotion.

Without turning, he finished putting the last few knick-knacks into the last cargo container. After this many years, it was a significant amount of crap and keepsakes that he'd probably never properly get to.

This sudden decision gnawed at him. He didn't want to do it, but he couldn't face the person in his mirror if he did not.

He felt he was letting everyone down. Everyone but himself. It felt selfish.

But also necessary.

"I'm sorry Bob," he finally said. "We've spent every year since Palpatine died trying not be an angry, bigoted Empire. To be told that I have to suffer the opinions of some High Human Culture halfwits is more than I can handle.

"We're spread across a lot of worlds, with a lot of different species. Even silently not confronting people who want to beat, even kill, those who are different is not something I want to live with.

"You've got your Order. I'm got a career path I'm proud of and I'm not about to tarnish it by doing something I can't believe in."

He placed the last box in and turned to grab the sealing device. A load lifter was waiting to take this crate to join the ones already on the Kodama.

He started. Bob was standing in front of him wearing Shadow Guard armor. Fury never even knew he was a member of that ultra-secret organization.

One other thing. Bob had his helmet off and was handing him a lightsaber lance.

"Frell, Bob. Are you trying to get me killed? I'll get executed for even having this thing. I'm gonna miss you too pal, but this is too much!"

Bob opened his left hand, in it was a red focusing crystal. He shoved the lance at him again.

Fury took it. "Thank you Bob. Thank you for saving my ass all those times. Thank you for getting me when i was kidnapped. You've been the best friend I've had around here and I know nothing about you at all."

Bob merely nodded, put on his helmet and left.

Fury placed the lance in the cargo container, sealed it, and let the droid pick it up.

Cleaning droids were already outside ready to get the office ready for the new Prefect.

Yeah, after all these years, it only took a few boxes and some sanitizer to wipe away his legacy.

This would eventually feel good, feel right. But he was doubtful anyone would notice the change much. At this level, as long as someone was in the office, confidence was restored. Cosmic would do at least as good as him, if not better.

It was time to go.

Fury saluted to no one in particular and left his military datapad on the desk. This phase of his life was over.
