Chapter One Assignment:Character BioName: Dyrra Karr
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Homeplanet: Bespin
Physical Description: If one needed to simply sum up Dyrra's physical appearance in one word, it would be scrawny. He does not have a lot of musculature on his body, which gives him a rather lean and small body to work with. Lifting weights along with the others is somewhat hard for him, as his body is not built for forcing it to develop large amounts of muscle mass. It does make him good for agility and running, and for piloting. But may the Force protect him if he gets into a fist fight. If he isn't running anyway, he is in serious trouble.
He has short brown hair, which steadfastly refuses to stay where he puts it. Dyrra could spend an hour in a bathroom, with gel and water, working painstakingly to get his hair just right into a cool, smooth look. And you would not be in the wrong if by the end of a single hour, it was back to its normal, chaotic mess. His blue eyes stare out from slightly sunken eyes, giving him a kind of weakened, scary look. This has contributed to his skittish, shy behavior. He commonly walks around in a slight defensive slouch, always seeming to be on the lookout for prowling attackers ready to jump him. Even when standing still, he always looks around in short jerks, as if someone is stalking him and a part of his body is always moving. It could be drumming his fingers, to tapping his feet, to constant shifting in a seat. He cannot sit still, especially when he is around big groups of people.
His build is thin and lithe, giving him a smallish but agile look. Similar to a small cat that is feasting on food in a garbage can that flashes from sight the moment your foot hits the street. His chin is very sharp and his eyes glint with the light of insecurity yet intelligence. When he walks, its a jerky set of small steps that get him to where he wants go rather quickly, usually making people have to walker faster to keep up with him.
Emotional DescriptionDyrra is a very spastic person, in that he tends to jerk a lot for no reason. He also has a nervous twitch and seems constantly avoiding people, looking over his shoulder every couple seconds in conversations as if someone was sneaking up on him with a knife. It is obvious within the first few encounters one has with Dyrra is that he is uncomfortable around people, especially his peers, and does his best to hide from them. It is difficult to get him to open up to someone because he has been rejected so many times in his life, that he feels unsafe around anyone whom he doesn't know. Oddly enough, he feels calm around figures of authority and higher-ranking officers. He knows they won't pry into his life, that they probably don't care, and only want him to do a good job. Which is what he really wants to do, do a good job and be proud of it.
For if one manages to get past the barrier he has set up around himself, one will see a very determined, skittish and intelligent person behind those scared eyes you caught a glance of in the cafeteria. He works hard, is able to take nearly anything, and thinks only of his duty. Seeing as he has no aspect of a social or personal life, he has focused his life entirely on military service. He can't contribute in any way but risking his life for the good of the Empire.
When initially spoken to, he is jittery, scared, and stumbles over words a lot. He has a nervous twitch and constantly rubs his hands together nervously. However, upon getting to know him, he is calmer, holding his hands in his lap, although eye contact is difficult until essentially the best friend stage of a friend-friend relationship.
Mental Issue: Self-confidence issues and very distrusting of other people. Also very scared of relationships of any kind.
HistoryThe circumstances around Dyrra's entry into the Empire's armed forces are not well-known. His service records say he was born on Bespin twenty-two years ago. What little speaks of his childhood and family life speak of a rough schism between his father and mother, and the custody of him going entirely to his mother. He never saw his father again, ever, and his mother was forever hurt by the events of the divorce. He did his best to help his mother, but she always rejected his help, stating she could do it herself. She was trying to make sure she could handle being a single mother and take care of her kid. Dyrra did not know, nor understand this, so he was very hurt by this seeming rejection of his mother. He became depressed and talked little in school, though what he did show revealed a smart mind underneath a quiet exterior. He was singled out for his strange behavior and teased constantly. This eroded what self-confidence he had and made him into the emotional shy wreck he is today.
He went to school, did well, graduated and then....vanished from Bespin. He reappeared briefly a couple years ago to attend his mother's funeral when she passed away, but then vanished again. Only to reappear on an Imperial recruiting station, requesting admission to join the Imperial Navy. He passed the admission test and had begun his training a pilot in the Imperial Navy.
