a)Big avatar=big loading time for slower connections
b)what the hell's the point?
c)Big avatars don't look as good

Actually I think they are rather large, as most sites I'm on have them set to 75 px squares, or 100 px squares... Or even as small as 45px squares. And besides if they are too large it detracts from the comnet's more 'serious' club look. (for lack of a better word)
