Not only is this the best way to promotion, it is the best way to act. Be polite. They've been here longer.
Don't suck up, don't be a whiner, and be optimistic and on time with posts. (not the material, but if you promise to post, post, or give a darn good reason why not)
Send your weekly report in. Always. Period. Good activity and such will be included in your report to your SL and then he or she will make their report to their commanders and so forth.
