My name is Ibram Tyrol, and I will be you're operator whilst you train here at the Academy. If you have any questions at all, simply go to the message centre and type in my full name into the recipient's box, along with your queries.

To get you started, I'm now going to direct you to our wiki page, where most of the training materials are kept.

To begin your training, you must first create your character. Having clicked on the link above, you can navigate to the page by clicking on Basic Training, Flight School, and then Chapter 1

Before going to Flight School, you may want to give Imperial Initiation (II) a quick read - it gives a brief introduction to life as a pilot in the star wars universe.

Once you have followed the instructions set out in Chapter 1, please post it here for marking, and we can advance you along to the next stage.

Whilst you train, I also recommend you get onto IRC (Or Instant Rely Communication). Most, if not all of the Vast Empire's active members frequent the IRC channels, so you will be able to find many a friend and mentor in this place. To get onto IRC, either follow the "JavaChat" link from the main page (It's in the left hand column) or download an IRC client (e.g. mIRC) and follow the instructions in the MainComnet forum.

Notable Skills
1.Is a great pilot having spent her life being taught by her father. She has been known to fly circles around some of the NR's best pilots as a young teenager. Though they were never actually shooting at her.

2.Although she doesn't like to fight outside of a Starfighter she is a rather fair hand to hand combatant.

3.When in a ship piloted by someone else, Sage can be rather devastating as a gunner.

4.Having spent the majority of her life with her father traveling the galaxy, she learned how to make major and minor repairs to just about any kind of ship. In fact she find the challenges stimulating and refreshing.


Appearance
Slim and somewhat athletic, Sage doesn't really carry much of a presence about her till she puts on a flight suit. She has marvelous upper body strength while her legs still need a little work they shouldn't be counted out as she can deliver some pretty devastating kicks.

Sage has shoulder length black hair that she almost always has pulled back into a tight tail at the back of her head to keep it out of her face. She does however always have a stray bit of hair that just doesn't like to stay back. Her deep blue almost black eyes have been known to make people nervous as they never seem to stop moving. Because of Sage's natural curiosity she seeks to take in everything she can. She has deceptively delicate features; high cheekbones, a delicate nose that looks as though maybe it has suffered a break in the past, a stubborn chin that says she doesn't back down easily, a full mouth with smiles tucked into the corners, thin expressive brows, and long lashed eyes. She truly is a picture of beauty though she would beg to differ with anyone who suggests it.

When she is angry or in a very serious mood, her features take on a decidedly more rakish appearance that, if anything, heightens her beauty and even her air of suicidal confidence.


Personality
Sage is a mostly happy person, but she isn't truly happy unless she's in a cockpit flying in the deepest reaches of space, in a dogfight, or tinkering with something mechanical. Very outgoing and maybe even a bit naive still in her young age, Sage can be a bit of a challenge to those she meets as she can't seem to truly sit still. As a true Corellian born and raised, she has a bit of a suicidal outlook on piloting. She is generally courageous - or perhaps its just that she has never really feared dying - in the face of great personal danger. She cares a lot about other people even those of other species, to see someone in trouble causes her to leap to the victim's aid in most cases. She is perhaps one of the only people in the VE that will not shoot to kill unless she knows there is any other way.

Sage also has a stubbornness about her that drives people up the wall. Her inability to back out from any challenge has gotten her into some pretty tight spots as a child and as a young adult. In true Corellian style she will fight to the death for her honor and pride. Why she joined the VE nobody knows really as her personality is so completely contradictory to some of the values held so dear for the general community.

Some believe that underneath her outgoing and semi-tough exterior, that Sage is really a lost woman trying to find where her place is in the galaxy. And those believers would not be far from the truth at all. It is really Sage's need to belong and to be needed that has made her the way she is. Though she would never outwardly admit to such a thing.

When Sage is nervous or just generally uneasy, she has a habit of bouncing her left leg. Sometimes its out of irritation and other times its out of just plain panic (which doesn't happen often).

Her natural curiosity for new things, and even familiar things, gives her an air of yearning that always seems to linger even after years. Those who know her best barely even notice this about her, but they do admit that they have seen the effects it has had on others.

Sage has a strong hatred toward the New Republic leaders and her father as they had ordered a bounty on her mother's head. Her strong sense of justice can always be over ridden when she goes head to head with a leader of the former Rebellion, or her father.

Bio
Childhood
Despite the divide that would later split the Kalas family apart, Sage's childhood was a happy one. She was born on Corellia in twelve B.B.Y. to Blake and Freysha Kalas. Sage's father was a pilot running just about any job he could find to support his family. Her mother was a mechanic that had once had a promising career in the Imperial Navy. Sage's penchant for piloting and tinkering with machines likely comes from both her parents.

When she was five she began to fly around the galaxy with her father, learning how to fly her father's freighter with the ease and efficiency of a seasoned pilot. By the time she was ten she was her father's unofficial co-pilot, helping him with shut down and take off procedures.

When she was twelve, Sage entered into a speeder bike race on Ord Mantell to pass the time from the monotony of the freighter travel. After an intense course of which she survived with only a broken arm, Sage crossed the finish line well ahead of the other surviving contestants, earning her the nickname Speed. Even though her father did not know that she had entered the race at the time he found out real fast when the race was publicised on the Holo Net. He of course punished her for doing what she did. He would later come to refer to his daughter as reckless and unafraid, and a superb pilot. It was shortly after that race that they heard about the destruction of Alderaan at the hands of the Empire.

A Family Divided
After the destruction of Alderaan, Sage's parents began to argue almost every day. Her father took the side of the Rebel Alliance and left to become a pilot for their cause taking Sage with him. Sage's mother, didn't really agree with what the Empire had done but she knew that not all Imperials were like the ones stationed on the Death Star. Freysha fought hard to get her daughter out of her father's grasp. By this time Blake was so deeply ingrained in the Rebellion that he became unaware of Sage's activities. She spent her time in the hangar on Yavin 4 helping the engineers to keep up on repairs and wondering if she would ever see her mother again.

After the Battle of Yavin, Sage ran way in a stolen A-Wing to find her mother. It would not be until she was fifteen before she would run into her mother again, on Corulag. It was a happy reunion for the two until Freysha was shot down on Fondor in front of Sage.

Bounty Hunting in the Outer Rim
It was after that event in her life that Sage took up the mantle of a bounty hunter to hunt down her mother's shooter. This task took her more than a year to complete. Realizing that she may have gotten over her head by taking this task, Sage was ready to give up when she took a job that lead her straight to her target on Bastion. She not only completed the job she had acquired but she also took out the man who shot her mother feeling that the galaxy would be a much better place without him. She was nearly Seventeen years old by that time.

The Vast Empire
She would eventually take on many more hunts that would lead her across the galaxy and eventually to cross paths with some pilots from Tadath. She of course would join up as a VE pilot. Now she's in training in the VE Navy with goals to be one of the best pilots in the galaxy.

The Immelman

The Immelman is a maneuver most often used to gain altitude and reverse direction. This maneuver isn't usually used for attack or defense. It is in fact a high-thrust maneuver that helps to change a fighter's direction and gives more altitude. By pulling the nose up and climbing, a pilot can perform half of a loop. To stop, a fighter only needs to invert and roll. The amount of roll performed effects the fighter's new direction of flight. This causes a fighter to fly in a different direction and a higher altitude. As soon as the fighter's wings are level, the pilot performs another half a roll to regain a vertical position.






The Sandwich

This maneuver is a two person procedure and its the oldest trick in the book. A fighter being attacked from behind and outside the formation goes into attack position. If the fighter is followed by an enemy, the wingman will take a place behind the enemy attacker giving the him/her a great rear quarter shot, of course the shooter must take care not to release a heat missile, at least until his/her buddy is out of the cone of fire.

As I said before, I have no control over where she goes, so it's up to Denethor.

However, there have been a series of requests for Speed to be placed in Viper. As this is a club that focuses on having fun, my guess would be she goes there.

Just kidding. I don't have near enough money to bet on stuff...

Ok guys - stop talking about where Speed is or isn't going. This is not a forum for discussing such things.

Speed - I apologise for not marking your exam. I had forgotten Jeg was on holiday, and i've been quite busy myself. Unless you hadn't noticed, the Navy doesn't exactly have an abundance of members.

Lastly - don't ever try and undercut me and Jeg again. Ever. You're lucky i don't make you re-do the test.

Now, Chief Petty Officer Sicario has marked your aviator's exam. He'll be sending it to me for cross-checking, so your final result should be with you tommorow.

As for placement, as Jeg said, only Denethor can do that, so we must wait for him.
