Greetings Kane, and welcome to the VEN. My name is Jegora Fal. I'm the Naval Training Officer. I'll be around to assist you in your training, although you'll probably become more familiar with Shazam, our Training Executive Officer, Tomas and C-3PX2, our current Trainers, and Ibram Tyrol, our only Operator. Any and all of these gentlemen will be more than willing to help you out.
Now, you've already done the first phase of your training; that is, you found your way here. Well done. Now it's time to move on to the next phase of basic training, Flight School.
Flight School can be found at: http://www.vastempire.com/wiki/index.php?title=Flight_School_%28FS%29>Flight School
Flight School is broken down into several steps called chapters. After you complete Flight School, you will take the Aviator's Exam and join a squadron. Along the way you'll create a Wiki page, an Identification Line, file a Report, study tactical maneuvers, and most importantly you will define who your character is.
Now, the first step is Chapter One. This is where you will create your character. A guide to character creation can be found here. This guide will give you all the information you need to get started. When you complete your assignment (creating a character biography), post it up here and one of the staff members will critique it to check for accuracy and flow.

Name: Kane Ahriman Species: Human Gender: Male Age: 21 Height: 5'9" Weight: 190 Physical Build: Muscular and well-defined Hair Color: Silver-gray Eye Color: Heterochromia... One eye blue, one eye gray. Scars: None Kane appears to be your run-of-the-mill 21 year old human male. His height of 5’9” and weight of 190 pounds make him seem unremarkable. The startling feature is his hair. Involved in an accident at a young age on Cato Neimoidia when a valve erupted on a vapor vent above his head, the melanin in the hair was destroyed, leaving a silvery grey color behind. His eyebrows were also affected, although his beard as well as the rest of his body hair retained their natural properties. The beard does shows hints of the destroyed melanin at the edges of the mouth and along the jaw line, but most dismiss the discoloration as old age. The chemicals in the vapor are also responsible for his left eye being discolored, turning a dull gray. His vision isn't affected in the least, although most assume his vision is impaired. He has been known to use that assumption to his advantage. Kane is often mistaken as a brooder, and introvert, and a generally sour person. Although he’d agree with that assessment, the truth is he simply waits for people to prove they are worthy of his trust, and even his friendship. Kane keeps his answers straight to the point and doesn’t sugar-coat, and he will expect the same from everyone he meets. After working to help his family through hardships, Kane has finally found the opportunity to enlist in the Vast Empire Naval Academy to follow in his father’s footsteps of serving the Empire. Kane has always been more interested in the pilot aspect of the service, rather than being a foot soldier. The glory of shooting down a hostile space craft, or the honor of shuttling a respected member of the Empire is something he feels every boy grows up dreaming of. - OOC:

Very good Kane, I like it. Note that while your hair color is unusual you have an explanation for it, so it works fine.
You may continue on to Chapter II. You have an assignment there as well; go ahead and post that here too.

For a fighter pursuing an enemy aircraft but the distance between aircrafts is too great, the fighter can perform a Low Speed Yo-Yo to decrease the range to target. This will decrease the range between the attacker and the defender, but it will also change the necessary angle of attack.
To perform the Low Speed Yo-Yo, the attacker would by diving inside of the target’s turn. This allows the attacking aircraft to gain airspeed, but will reduce the altitude of the fighter. By pitching out of the dive and angling back upwards towards the aircraft being targeted, the fighter has closed the distance but has put himself in a more difficult shooting position. To correct this, a High Speed Yo-Yo may be performed, which has the opposite effect of a Low Speed Yo-Yo by increasing distance but bringing the target into a better line of fire.
For a fighter needing to defend against an attack, the Split S maneuver could be used if enough altitude is present. As the defending fighter begins to turn, he needs to invert his aircraft and perform a dive. This will increase his airspeed and decrease his altitude. Once enough altitude has been lost or airspeed gained, the fighter needs to level his aircraft before inverting once again. The pilot needs to be aware that too much altitude lost or too much speed gained will not allow his aircraft to pull out of the dive. Although with current battlefields, too much altitude lost isn't as catastrophic as it is when performed on a terrestrial environment.

We'll see if we can't get it done within the next day or so.
Go ahead and take your AE, and send a copy to myself and C-3PX2.
Good work so far, and good luck.
