Greetings all. My name is Urbaan, a recent recruit. I am posting here as per the instructions of Droid 17 of the Vast Empire Recruitment Office.
I have been a fan of this universe since I was taken to see Empire in the Theaters by my aunt at the age of 3 (the Tauntauns scared me a bit though). Since then I have RP'd both the WEG and WOtC versions of the pen and paper game, and I am now a Gamemaster for Saga Edition.
I look forward to speaking with all of you, and I can't wait to begin my training.

Welcome to the Imperial Naval Academy (VENA), Urbaan. My name is Jegora Fal, and I am one of your Operators. I, along with Shazam (the Training Officer), Tomas (our Executive Training Officer), C-3PX2 (our final Trainer), and Ibram Tyrol (our senior Operator) will be passing you through the chapters of Basic Training. If you have any questions at any time, click on the Message Center, compose a new message, and put my full name in the recipient spot. Now, you've actually already finished the first portion, known as Imperial Initiation (II)- you simply had to find your way here and make a thread to do that. The second half is known as Flight School (FS)- here you'll learn about the basic of flight, your equipment and what it takes to be an active member of one of our fighter groups. If you'll visit Flight School and take a look at Chapter 1 entitled "Character Creation," you’ll have a good start on the first step of Flight School. Once you've got a bio written up, simply post it here and one of our trainers will be along to post their comments and further instructions. In the meantime, if you're looking to get idea of our club and its members, I highly encourage you to explore the rest of the ComNet and jump onto our IRC server, via either our free chat applet (jIRC) or the downloadable version known as mIRC . Either way, I hope to see ya around.

PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY-Recruit Urbaan: Male Human; 18 Years Old PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Urbaan is a tall, wiry Human who looks thin from not eating enough rather than exercise. He has non-descript brown hair and average features. Urbaan always appears as though he is trying to blend in with a crowd, which he does splendidly until you make eye contact. His eyes are steel gray and seem to pierce right through whatever he is looking at. His hands and feet are worn and calloused. Urbaan favors utility clothing with a faded Bombers Jacket. EMOTIONAL DESCRIPTION: Urbaan almost constantly wears a smirk, unless he finds something very challenging or dangerous. This is because he truly finds most things amusing. He has the rough chuckle of a survivor that doesn’t mesh well with his age. Urbaan does not make friends easily and few people even know his first name, but those he does befriend find him helpful, engaging and funny. He must constantly challenge himself in order to stay focused on what he is doing. As an annoying little personality quirk, he likes to lead conversations into battles of minutia, saying things like “…well that’s all well and good, but first one must posit that you exist in the first place.” or “…look, when you can tell me the actual thrust to lift ratio of an ARC 170, then we can continue this conversation.” HISTORY: Jax Urbaan was born on Coruscant in one of the planets finest hospitals. His father, Aran, was the Chief Financial Officer for one of the city-planet’s largest droid construction companies. Unfortunately, all of the money and influence in the galaxy couldn't save his mother, Shir, when an embolism burst in her brain during labor. Shir Urbaan died of a massive stroke as Jax Urbaan was being lifted from the womb. Aran was devastated by the death of his wife, and his work suffered. His lack of supervision, finally led to the corruption and demise of his company, and the ruining of the Urbaan family. Due to the number of contracts with the Empire that the company had to default on, it’s senior staff found work…hard to find. Aran Urbaan finally moved to Nar Shadda with his son to work as a book keeper for one of the Hutt crime lords. Aran struggled to make ends meet, and thus was not around for his son. He set Jax up with a tutor and told him time and again that intelligence was the key to life (not knowing that his son was already too smart for his own good) and that love was the beginning of the path to sorrow. Jax soon began shirking his studies and setting up confrontations with his father, eventually leading up to an explosive fight where Aran told his son to “Shape up or get out!” A stubborn, 15 year old Jax left that day and never looked back. In Nar Shadda, the best way to stay alive a s a 15 year old boy on your own is to stay busy and stay moving. Jax ended up hanging out at star ports and garages, where he watched people much less intelligent than him achieve freedom through flight. One day, he saw an ad for inter-planet hop pilots and he responded, telling the small company that he was 19 with years of experience. Aside from a few close calls, he turned out to be a fine pilot, and was noticed by the local underbelly. When he was approached 3 years later by a representative of a “nameless organization” for a job running contraband, Jax realized that he was too smart to end up spaced for a load of spice and used his savings to by a ticket back to the nearest Imperial world. Upon arrival he happened to walk past a Navy Recruitment Office and figured 3 square meals a day sounded pretty good to a kid with no money or contacts. He went inside asked if he could take an entrance exam. The rest as they say, is History.

Very good. I'm going to pass you on to Chapter 2 of your training. That can be found via the Flight School page, as before. When you finish the reading materials you have an assignment in this chapter as well; go ahead and post that here too.

FLIGHT SCHOOL ASSIGNMENT II--Crewman Urbaan
I have picked two maneuvers to analyze from the Defensive and Offensive guide in the Tactical training manual. While all of the maneuvers are worth noting, I have picked these with regard to the Rebel Alliances most prolific fighter/bombers. The maneuvers in question are the Barrel Roll and the Low Speed Yo-Yo.
1. The Barrel Roll: The Barrel Roll is one of the most basic and versatile of flight maneuvers. I bring it into discussion her in the following scenario. I have picked up a Y-Wing in my Tie Interceptor, a slow but sturdy bomber prolific in the Rebellion fleet. Assuming the pilot is good, he will try to use my increased speed to his advantage by initiating a slow arc to the right, thinking that I will overshoot him or have to decrease speed to initiate Lag Pursuit, making myself more vulnerable to any wingmen that might be waiting to take a shot. As I begin to follow to the right, making him commit to the maneuver, I initiate a slight roll to the left, keeping the nose pitched as to spiral around my flight path axis. When the roll is complete, I should be coming in from above and to the left of the Y-Wing, with my Area Off of Tail (AoT) greatly reduced. Scratch one Y-Wing. Defensively I would use this maneuver against an A-Wing or similar craft, rolling to cause him to overshoot.
2. The Low Speed Yo-Yo: The Low Speed Yo-Yo is an Advanced Fighter Tactic used best when it is difficult to over take a target. I bring this maneuver into discussion using the following scenario. A battle has been fought and the Rebels have been routed. An X-Wing on the outskirts of the battle space turns hard and folds its S-Foils in, attempting to use Straight line speed to escape my Tie Interceptor and make a jump to Lightspeed. I am in pursuit but am having difficulty bringing the X-wing into my maximum weapons range. As the enemy begins an arc to the left, I dive into his turn, gaining airspeed. Careful not to dive too far, I pitch back up and slide back on to his tail. My AoT is increased but I am now much closer to my target and can use the Interceptors superior maneuverability to initiate a short High Speed Yo-Yo or similar move to reduce the AoT.

Good work, and I'll tell ya why.
Not only do you present both maneuvers in a clear and precise manner, but you effectively use them in a real combat situation at the same time. Overall, a very good job here.
You may continue on to Chapter 3 of Flight School. Make sure to read and complete accordingly. Also, we require all our members to have an I.D. Line. This I.D. Line allows for precise identification, and are easy to use. You can find more information on I.D. Lines here. Common procedure is to place your I.D. Line in your ComNet signature.
Also, our Wiki is an extremely useful tool. Here you can find information on medals, ships, weapons, history, and perhaps most importantly nearly every character biography can be found here. We strongly recommend creating your own Wiki page. Details on this procedure can be found here.
So, to wrap things up:

Very nice. The Wiki page looks good, your ID line looks good, and your report looks good.
Congratulations on passing Flight School my friend. The final step is to take the Aviators Exam. This can be found on the Flight School wiki page as well.
When you complete the exam, ComNet PM it to Shazam, the Training Officer. He will grade it and get you placed in a squadron ASAP.
