Born in 14 BBY, Gin is the oldest of four children. Unlike the other six members of his family -his three siblings and two parents- Gin's eyes are silver instead of red and his horns are white instead of black, unlike the rest of his family. That is why his parents decided to name him "Gin". The -Zur family is a lower-middle class family; both parents work, but even then they can barely afford all of the expenses that come with a family of six. As such, upon turning ten-years old, Gin's father began to teach him in the ways of Repulsor Lift repair. It was the same trade that he had been taught as a boy, and had payed off well. Gin took to the trade immediately, embracing the technical aspects of it. However, as he grew older he began to crave for more adventurous pass-times.
Gin appreciated the knowledge he had that allowed him to work on repulsorlifts and vehicles, but as he grew more efficient and knowledgeable he began to crave more excitement; he soon became very interested in racing. There was no specific form of racing; swoop bikes, speeders, ships, all vehicles appealed to him. His father took note of this passion and attempted to discourage the growing hobby, but he failed. After being banned from racing or attending races Gin began to sneak out of the house to meet up with friends and hit the town, often times not returning home till late at night and sometimes with injuries. Desperate to put some order into his sons life, Gin's father contacted his brother-in-law, who had some small lee-way in the VE , arranging to have his son join the VE in hopes of becoming a mechanic. If his boy was destined to become a grease-monkey, he should at least have professional training with military discipline. |
