Rakysh was born on the homeworld of his species, kashyyyk. He grew up in a village far removed from the usual centres of population, and so did not feel the effects of the Empires enslaving his people, or the subsequent rebellion.
Rakysh was a normal wookiee in many respects, but as he aged, he began to gain an angrier streak that was more prevalent than usual. The slightest misfortune had him cursing life and how unfair it was. He started to argue with his parents about the way that they lived, and more trivial things. Rakysh wanted to embrace the developing galaxy- the few holocasts that he could receive showed the rise of the Empire, and Rakysh wanted to be part of it. Eventually things came to a head, and after a thunderous argument, he left his family to join the Empire.
As he had no money, and no way of getting to a spaceport, Rakysh had to walk to the nearest city, which was many many miles away. It was a daunting task, but his sheer detirmination made him carry on As he travelled through the legendary undergrowth of his planet, he fought off several of the beasts that made it such a dangerous place, and grew tougher. Rakysh became more adept at surviving on his own and living in harmony in the forrest.
After much time, he arrived at a spaceport. There Rakysh worked as a cargo labourer. Eventually, he made enough credits to get off world, and make his way to the nearest part of imperial space. By this time, the empire had split into two parts, and Rakysh joined the Vast Empire by chance more than anything.
The local recruiter on the planet he landed on was surprised that a wookiee would want to be in the storm trooper corps, but was very happy to arrange transport to the training academy. Rakysh passed with flying colours, and was then transferred to Raider squadron. The multi environment ops suited him perfectly- the skills he had learnt in the jungle stood him in perfect stead to take on any of the challenges life was to throw at him. |
