Background/History Odin An'seth awoke in a cold sweat. He wasn't sure what woke him up but he knew something bad was about to happen. He had always had an uncanny sense of danger. He surveyed the room and saw nothing was amiss but still felt unsure. He layed back in his bed and started to reminess upon his adventures. As far back as he could remember he was always on the move. Him and his mentor Jack Janos. They were always going from planet to planet, sector to sector running from someone or something. Jack would never tell him what it was, he merely said that if they were to stay in one place for an extended period of time they would never leave. "Besides," he would say,"You can't make money staying still." So they lived from one scheme to another. Tricking the rich into "donating" fund for there ventures. "I never steal," Jack would say,"I've never stolen anything in my life. All my fortunes are given to me. They had traveled throughout the galaxy. From the innermost worlds, to the farthest outer rim planets and beyond. They had seen civilizations and cultures the Empire had never even seen. Everywhere they went Janos would teach him to survive under any condition. He would leave him alone in the wilderness for weeks at a time, so he could learn how to thrive independently. "You need to learn to get along without me," is what he told Odin the first time he left him alone at the age of 7, "Because I won't always be there for. A day will come when I am not with you and you need to learn that life and nature are harsh and unforgiving." Janos was all Odin had. He has no recollection of his true family. All Janos would say Is that he found him on a outer rim planet being sold as a slave. " Where did the Slave master say he found me?" " He said he bought you from another slave trader." "Did he say anything else." "Look," he would say," don't go chasing the past because you will never catch it." This was not the only thing Janos seemed to want to keep a secret. Odin didn't know much about Janos's life before he bought him from the slave trader. The first clue Odin got the Janos wasn't telling him everything was the same day Odin first killed somebody. He remembers it vividly. They were at a tavern in a backwater planet when a large man with red hair and a scruffy beard approached them. He began referring to Janos as " The Steel Jackal ". He was obviously drunk but between his slurred, incoherent babble he would make remarks like: " You thought you'd just leave us there to die, while you take all the money." His dark red eyes bouncing from Janos to Odin. " Sir," Janos said in a calm, collected voice," why don't you just settle down sit back in your chair and let my buy you a ..." Before Janos could finish his sentence a second man appeared form behind and grabbed Janos while the bearded man drew his blaster. Odin acted on instinct. He pulled out his weapon and fired three quick rounds through the man. At the same time Janos had disposed of the second man. Once he saw what Odin had done he said that it was for the greater good. Since then he has killed men over financial disputes, bar brawls, or for the " greater good " that Janos spoke of. Over time he began to harden and get use to killing. Eventually he began to expect to kill at least one man everywhere they went. He never learned what the bearded man was talking about. Or who he was. Every time he would ask Janos would say: " I told you not to chase the past." or " Bearded man, What bearded man?" It was behavior like this that led Odin to believe that Janos wasn't telling him alot of things. About his family, and about Janos's own past. He pulled away from his memories by the sound of a loud crack. He jolted from his bed and observed the room in silence. He waited for a second crack but was instead greeted by the sound of two men breaking down a door down his hall. He was able to take one of them down with his E-11 Carbine, but missed the second man and was knocked down. While struggling with the second man he heard the muffled screams of Janos. "Janos!" he screamed. He was able to get the upper had in has battle with the stranger and kicked him off. Once the stranger was off he jumped for his E-11 Carbine. He turned and fired but not before the stranger gut cut a large gash into his chest. Panting, and out of breath he rushed towards Janos's room, hoping that his confrintation with the two would-be assassins had not taken two much time. "Janos!" he caled again, but the night had fallen silent. As he reached Janos's room he waisted know time with the door he found it to be locked. He waisted no time and blasted the door open, but once he was inside he found it to be in perfect order. There was no broken glass, no tables knoced over, and no blaster marks to be found. But the most shocking of all was that Janos was not in the room either. He searched the room with nothing less than magnifing class, but still nothing. "Janos!" he called again, but still no reply. As he was exiting the room he thought it strange that all this commotion hadn't awaken any of the other residents in the inn. Once he stepped out into the hallway, a hooded figure emerged form his room. "Janos?" he said in surprise. But before he could question the hooded figure a was grabbed from behind and knoced out. He awoke in his room the next day with a massive headache. " That must have been one hell of a dream" he said while inspecting his room in disfelief. There was no sign that any of the events of the previous night had occured. The blaster marks in his room had vanished, as well as the ones on Janos's door. But one thing was still the same; there was no Janos. He began questioning the other residents of the whereabouts of his friend, and if any of them had seen the hooded figure from the night before. But they all gave the same bizzare answer. " Sir, you came here by yourself." He grew tired of questiong, and beging for the truth, and soon became furious. He began to make a scene and start to threaten the employs if the didn't tell the truth. " I paint the wall with the back of your head if you don't stop lying." he threatened one of the employees. But then he remembered the hooded figure from the night before. Had that truly been Janos? What was he doing, and where was he now? But it appeared that he would get no answers form the pathetic locals and employees. As he was leaving to continue his search for answers, he was aproached by an Officer of the Empire. He got a strange feeling from the officer, as if he was not a normal officer. He was tall and thin and had a very defined chin. He had a long scar on the left side of his face and wore an eyepatch. " Looking for answers, my wayward friend?" he said with a smirk that made Odin feel like he knew the answer to that question without asking. "Only if you have answers" Odin said in a half irratated tone. " I heard you in the inn." The smirk on his face grew. "Quite the temper you have." " You don't even know stranger" Odin said now getting very frustrated at the whole situation. " Calm down friend, I just want to offer you some advice" "I'm listening" " The hooded man your after," he paused to adjust his eyepatch. Odin had a bizzare feeling about this officer. It was like he had met him befor a long time ago, but he couldn't remember. " Did you ever think that he might be a Dark Jedi?" Odin hadn't thought of that, but there were to many reasons why that couldn't be true. For one if it was Janos in the hood it couldn't be a Dark Jedi. " Either way," the officer continued, snapping Odin out of his thoughts." you should think about joining the Stormtrooper Corps. That would be the best way to find your friend." " First off," Odin said, now amused by the officer's attempt at recruiting him," that had to be the strangest recruitment attempt I had ever seen. Secondly, I doubt I'll be joinning the Army any time soon t sergeant or general.." Odin stopped and relized he didn't even know how he was talking to." I didn't get your name?" "I didn't give it" He said in a sturn voice."Look you either join the Army," he paused to laugh in a dark voice that made Odin feel strange. He could feel something comming like a large group of people. "Or," he continued now looking triumphent," You can go to jail for the rest of you life for the murder of two inicent men." " What the hell are you talking about?" Odin said in an outrage. In what felt like half a second he was surrounded by armed stormtroopers. He had been set up the whole time. But by who is what he had to discover. The began to walk over to him looking very serious. " Look," he whispered," You can die here, in jail, or you can join us and learn the truth about you, Janos, your destiny, and your family. " What do you know about my family" Odin demanded " Nothing. But join us and you could learn." "Doesn't look like I have a choice do I" Odin said as they walked away, surrounded by stormtroopers, to discover his past and future.
