Biography: Character Biography of Kaminari

Emon Avierre was born into a working-class family on Lotaith, in the Vast Empires Rheagent system. His parents supported the Empires cause without restraint, and had become members of the few who were actually treated well by the system. Emons father was a mechanic at the Vast Empires main starport on Lotaith, and his mother worked in a drug treatment facility at the local hospital. Emon had one younger sister, Dana, who later went on to become a professor of Imperial history.

Emon seemed to be the odd one out in the family while he was growing up. He had a love for sports that none in his family shared, often competing in track and field events during his school days. School itself was mediocre at best; Emons grades certainly werent going to put him up for a full scholarship.

It wasnt until his mid-teens that Emon discovered his second pastime: street fighting. A pair of Corellian boys had started going to the same school, and Emon quickly befriended them to help avoid trouble with the cliques that were beginning to form. The Rodian and Gran populations enjoyed ganging up on the human teenagers, and tensions often ran high in the schools. One day, a fight broke out, and Emon got to see Corellian street-fighting first hand. He immediately fell in love with the practice and asked the other boys to teach him. They did, and started him down the path to his future troubles and ultimately, his survival.

Emons interest in fighting grew more intense as he got older. His parents took a very hands-off approach to his childhood, stating that as long as Emon didnt flunk out of school, finished his chores at home, and was available for the occasional family event, they would support any legal pastime he wanted to engage in. Most of the time, this meant going out with friends after his school athletics practices (and drinking, when he was old enough), and occasionally getting into street fights. Soon, the occasionallybecame often.

He knew his parents suspected something, but Emon was able to keep the worst of his activities hidden from them. He graduated from school with fair marks, and spent a year at a technical school to learn how to construct and repair mining equipment. During that year, Emon received his first serious injury in a fight.

Up until that point, there were some bruises, the occasional sprained ankle, or maybe a small nick on the arm from a knife that had gotten too close; vibroblades were too restricted to be available to street kids like Emon, and he was very careful to avoid ripped clothing, black eyes, or any immediate sign that hed been scrapping. This time, five young men in a rival school had heard of Emons reputation and wanted to put it to the test. They jumped him while he was in an alley, and left him for dead after stabbing him several times in the stomach. A passerby spotted blood on the ground near the mouth of the alley, and the paramedics arrived just in time. Soon after, Emons parents decided that it was too dangerous for him to stay on Lotaith.

Cepany served as Emons second home. Within a week, he was able to find a job with one of the many Imperial-funded mining projects, and began working as a cargo skiff operator. Since the Provisional Government actively discouraged fighting among the citizens, Emon found another means to gain his adrenaline rush. After several months on Cepany, he had saved up enough money for a used swoop, and set himself up in the amateur track.

A couple of months into the races, some of the older racers gathered for Emons initiation party. There was a tradition among the racers that their real names were never used. One of the group members put forth Kaminari, a name from an ancient native tongue that meant rides on wings of air. The nickname stuck. In a few weeks, Kaminarihad become a minor name on the swoop courses.

About a year after Emon came to Cepany, a riot broke out at a swoop race. Emon was pushed around several times in the crowds, and the scene developed into a huge brawl. The police were called, and Emon found himself in a city prison, facing charges of assault and disturbing the peace. The strict environment created by the Provisional Government ensured that anyone who went to jail would be out of a job for a very long time. When the opportunity for military service came up as an alternative to prison time, Emon jumped at it.

Emon made good use of his technical training to get through the Imperial Navy Technical School and learn the ins and outs of starship repair, much like his father. For the most part, he was stationed on small Imperial cruisers in the system or in the starport on Cepany. He kept in touch with his father through official channels, and spent most of his time trying to keep out of trouble.

Several months later, Emon received a message from his father. Hed discovered a bomb planted on some minor nobles ship on Rheagent, and as a thank-you, the noble had given them a large sum of money. More importantly, though, the noble had offered to secure an invitation for any member of the family to begin starfighter pilot training. If Emon wanted to, the opportunity was his. After a couple of weeks of thought, Emon agreed, and boarded the transport for the Vectra System the next day. When he registered and chose his callsign, Kaminariwas the logical choice; it felt more like his name than his real one.

Now, fresh out of pilot training, Kaminari is flying with Kaph Squadron aboard the Atrus. He has no idea what the future will hold for him, but he hopes hell get to have as much fun as possible.
