I'm on the Dark Council, so I'm hoping my voice holds a little weight:

Essentially, any Force/Jedi (Dark/Light) related writings is authorized only for those who are in the Dark Jedi Order (and they must stay within the DJO's private boards).

There was only one DJO story that was released to the public, and that was the first 25 pages or so of Talon's Dark Jedi Master journey. There has not been another public viewing since then.

If you want to make "rebuttal argument" or petition, that's fine, but the person to bring that to would be Kadann, as he has the last word on these things.

(Even those who are in the Order do not post/write about their Force sensitivity or draw their lightsabers out in the open)

I understand not letting people know or talk about the DJ but do you have to do private boards? I for one would like to read the stories of them for personal interest and fun. I mean is there real reason to hide the fourms away and not let anyone read them.....besides I hear they are very well thought out and there is a lot of work put into them to keep them hidden away.

I am not sure for all the reasons as to why the DJO boards are kept private, and I feel the same as Specter does and would LOVE to read the stories of the VE DJO.

However- at the same time I understand that we don't always get everything we want to have.

In my own personal opinion, the DJO boards were kept hidden for one primary reason: to have something to look forward to - something to work for/towards.

This strategy worked well several years ago when activity was at its peak - people posted like mad, and those that were chosen by the Order got to read the works from the VE's superior writers. It's different nowadays because things have changed, although I believe the DJO boards are still kept hidden for that same reason.

So DJO & Grunts can't play together?  Even if the rare situation in which the DJO member uses the Force or a lightsaber there are no witnesses [or none left alive] it's a no-no?



Can't even have Jedi kills a Dark Jedi [not DJO's] only to have the platoon C.O. stab the Jedi in the back with a vibroblade?

If the StoryNet is not Official VE Continuity, then why does it matter?

And what of "Down in Utapau"?

what about it dante?

It would most likely be a raider mission it think, and its most likely to have happened beforE DJO members were not allowed to use it in the army or navy.

I hate to go and spark a big argument, but I have to put in my two cents here.

I understand about the secrecy policy, and I completely agree with it. You'll get no argument from me there.

However, the side of me that has to be fair also needs to speak, unfortunately. If the storyboard is considered un-offical, then theoretically he could write about whatever he wants to there. It just wouldn't count for anything, or towards anything.

Thats what I think, anyways. Someone more important than I am may correct me, but again...my conscious was bugging me.

I truly think that is the most idiotic notion I've ever heard in my life.

For the secrecy part, I was never a big fan about it, but not for the same reasons as most of you have which is the viewpoint of a middle-high school student who feels left out of the "cool" clique. Really though, if you want to see what's on the boards, work hard, get a lot better at writing, and you'll eventually get into it... probably. I agree with Cosmic as it being a thing to look forward to if you want to get in, and if you don't want to even join, then stop being a little nancy and complaining about something you don't even care about.

If your main reason for wanting to see it is to read some good Force material, go read the books. There is plenty out their by really good authors to satisfy any person. Authors that aren't just SW fans that happen to write really well.

As for writing on the storyboard, here is my bit.
I) If it is with completely made up characters that are not your VE characters in a totally different non-VE-Canon universe, go ahead and write it. Knock yourself out. Who cares? It doesn't relate to anything and won't impede anything. It will probably just be ignored by those that aren't participating in it. No offense meant by that. People just don't tend to read every random storynet story.

II) If it is with VE characters, then it gets really tricky. From my point of view, a storynet story with your VE character is considered part of what your character has done in the VE universe. So if a DJO member randomly goes and does something and stumbles upon a situation that needs the Force, it would be considered part of what his character did in the VE-canon. Thus, it would have to be approved by Kadann, Talon, and the rest of the DJO HC. In the end, it probably won't happen.

III) If you want to make the complete distinction that this is just a possible story in another alternate universe where it does involve the VE character name and traits but doesn't have anything to do with what your "real" character is doing, than again, I'd say sure, whatever. Though I don't have the final word in any sorts. But most DJO members are probably not going to take the time to bother writing on such a story due to their other duties, busy lives, and actual VE-canon DJO stories they are working on.

This is all just my thoughts on this. But really, there is no one stopping you making up a completely random alternate universe with made up characters that are Force sensitive and go and fight a climatic Force battle with some other made up person and posting it on the storynet, as long as you make it completely obvious you just wrote it for fun and it is entirely non-VE-canon. I may be wrong about this, but I'm sure I've ran across a few stories like this. They are all horrible and badly written, but they are there.

Now, I have spent far too much time writing this. If I offended anyone, oh well. I didn't mean to do it.

I knew someone was going to bring up one of my old posts. And Dante, you've been here way too short of a time to know about that story. You need to get out more.

Anyway, in response to it. That was FOUR years ago. The policy was a little different at that time, only those that were members of the DJO could post about their Force powers. I was even pushing the line a little bit there, and in the future was asked to stop posting about Force powers in regular squad stories. So obviously the policy has changed since then. I have not posted about my Force powers in any other forum than the DJO forums in years.

Once I get the DJO's decision I'll make a final post here with regard to the stories.  With the issue settled this thread will be closed at that time.
