  Kaph Squadron: Atticus IV

The silence within the shuttle was maddening.  Skylla and Max were already on Atticus IV.  Besides C3, everyone else was basically fresh out of the Naval Academy.  His robotic comrade was never much for conversation, so Thaan Sion was left staring at his new pilots and they back at him.  He had not had any time to get to know them between the reformation of Kaph and it being given its orders to ship out.

It had only been a month since he made his return to the Navy.  In that time he managed to reopen the squadron that had been lost to him six months prior in the aftermath of the Battle of Hast.  Still, the damage had been done.  Kaph was no longer the Elite Squadron of the Navy.  It had been reduced to being mostly comprised of arrogant academy graduates that were too old to go back, but too young to know the horrors ahead.  Gone were the glory days of old, the higher ups ended those.  He would never forgive them for that.  Yet he had the squadron he loved back, regardless of the fact that it was but a shadow of its former glory.  Through the help of the three other veteran members of Kaph, he would build Kaph back up into something to be reckoned with.  You can take the pilot out of Kaph but you just can’t take the Kaph out of the pilot.

“Lieutenant, we’re about to drop out of hyperspace,” said the serviceman flying the Lambda Class Shuttle.

“All right, you heard the man, gather your things and prepare to land,” ordered the Commander of Kaph.

There was an ever so slight change of momentum, the cue that they had just dropped back into real space.

“This is Atticus control to the shuttle Harper, please send the proper security codes.”

“Is this really necessary?” asked the shuttle pilot.  “The only way the Rebels would attack your sorry ass little rock would be by accident, and then they’d be mighty disappointed by what the acquired.”

“You will send the proper clearance codes or be shot down,” replied the control officer in a testy manner.

“This bucket of bolts would be long gone before you’d be able to throw together a fighter team to intercept us...”

“Petty Officer, just send him his codes so we can get on with our day,” said Thaan as he ran a hand through his messy blonde hair.

“Yes sir,” said the pilot half heartily.

“Thank you Harper,” said control, “you’re access code has come through green.  Please land in the main hanger bay.”
****

The shuttle set down on a scuffed up floor that had once been gloss black.  The base on Atticus IY was an outpost back during the rein of Plapatine but had long since lost even that much importance.  At some point along the road, the planet was annexed into the Vast Empire Remnant.  The base was converted into a training facility shortly after.  Its purpose was to act as a stepping stone for relatively green squadrons between the academy and front line combat.

The ramp dropped and the grey uniformed passengers returned to solid ground.  The Wookie among the group growled something.

Sion laughed.  “I wouldn’t be surprised; some of the old timers here actually were around before the Galactic Empire fell apart.  I hope you brought something or another to translate for you because most humans don’t take the time to learn how to understand your language.  Otherwise you’re going to be hanging out with the XO or myself a lot.”

A Wookie worked on his parents’ farm as a mechanic.  Having an early interest in tinkering with things, Sion found himself hanging around the hairy being a lot. He accidentally figuring out what Gear was saying in the process.  He never did learn the Wookie’s real name since everyone always referred to him by his nick name.  Crewman Cheenok was not the first Wookie in Kaph.  Etan had been with the squadron for a decent amount of time until he had to leave because of personal reasons.

“Are you all ready to go?” asked Sion.  “Good, I’ll lead you to our barracks then.”

Sion had taken time to study the base schematics on the way over; he knew exactly where he was going.  Everything about the architecture was very boring and conventional.  They really didn’t do a lot of remodeling since the Palpatine Era.  There room was no exception.  Cots laid up against the wall.  The mattresses were rolled up inside large draw string bags on the floor.(CC)  Sion walked through a doorway into a small room and turned the light on.  He returned to his squadron grinning.

“Guess what?  The whole squadron gets to share a bath room,” informed Thaan.  He then went up to the cot nearest to the exit and slid it down to the floor.  “Don’t stand around and watch me, get your beds ready.  You’ll have to report to the store to receive your sheets and such at some point.”

“As the squadron commander don’t you receive private quarters, Lieutenant?” asked one of the new pilots whose name escaped him.

“Now how am I suppose to keep an eye on you all if I’m holed up in my own little room?” replied Sion.  “You don’t have to call me Lieutenant either.  If we’re not in a combat situation, just call me Thaan.”  The green horns seemed to be rather shocked by his utter disregard of military etiquette.  They should have figured out he wasn’t a stickler for such things from the first time they met him and saw he didn’t wear a hat.  “I’m sorry but my XO and I have matters to attend to else where.  We’ll meet again in two hours up on the TIE racks.  Come dressed in your flight suits.  Until then get the lay of the land and stay out of trouble... oh yeah, these beds better be made when I see them again.”

With that, Sion and C3 were out the door, leaving the dumbfounded new recruits to fend for themselves...

OOC:
Well, had to stay up a bit later than comfortable, but I got it done so you guys could start posting.  Just worry about character development for now.  I’ll bring us all back together at the TIE racks when I decide it’s time to move on.  Remember, I want to see two, 250 word posts per week at least.  Enjoy!

As the Shuttle Landed

The Shuttle slowly began its decent towards the landing zone. From the viewports, the outpost on Atticus IV seemed to be a pile of junk. Old technology, broken walls, the place reeked of the Palpatine Era of the Galactic Empire. Seven years had passed since this had been the way outposts were built, since then more thought was put into the way they were arranged. With the Empire broken into remnants, time had to be spent of newer outposts making sure that credits were not wasted. There was no longer the Infinite Supplies that the Galactic Empire had; the Vast Empire and other Remnants had to economically build up their stockpiles.

Upon landing, C-3PX2 walked towards the disembarking ramp. It felt good to be back in Kaph Squadron, it had been too long. As the ramp lowered, C-3PX2 couldn’t help but think what would happen to the squadron. For the most part, Than and himself had the most experience, while the majority of the squadron were fresh out of the Academy. It was going to be a rough fight to strengthen the squadron, but it was a battle C-3PX2 had fought once before, in Viper Squadron.

When the squadron first reopened, His Squadron Commander, himself, and one other pilot were the experienced ones, while everyone else way fresh out of the academy. Though the fires of building a squadron, they build the squadron up, and took the Title of the “Captain’s Own”. This would be similar, but at the same time … a completely different story, a completely different adventure.

They walked off the shuttle and thought the outpost. They were being led towards their barracks. C-3PX2 could see the outside of the barracks, and it did not look big at all. He wondered if all of the squadron would even fit in it. While Unsure, he walked with the squadron inside the barracks. C-3PX2 began to look around the dark room, and then Than turned on the lights. Spartan-Living Quarters was right; the pilots had a Bunk and a Table to themselves. The entire squadron was even going to have to share the same bathroom. It was times like these, that C-3PX2 was glad he did not need all of the Humanoid necessities.

C-3PX2 continued to look around the room, while Than talked with the squadron. He noticed the look on the newer pilot’s faces as they say their living quarters. They were not expecting this at all. This would be interesting, all the changes they would go through. They had just gone from the Vast Empire Naval Academy, founding on the latest in Star fighter and related technology, to a Seven year old outpost in need of refitting.

“I’m sorry but my XO and I have matters to attend to else where.  We’ll meet again in two hours up on the TIE racks. …” Than said to the Squadron.

Than turned towards the door and C-3PX2 followed, leaving the Squadron alone in the Barracks.

“This will be interesting to see how it looks when we get back.” C-3PX2 said, once they were out of hearing range of the people in the barracks.

Max was lying on his bed when he heard the shuttle land. He got up and looked out of the window, in time to see the ramp drop and Than walk out, C-3 clunking after him. Max grinned and lay back down on his bed, knowing Than would have things to sort out. The new recruits filed in, Than behind, reminding Max of a sheerd herding his flock. The notion made him laugh, and he had to conceal his giggle as Than and C-3 left together, and the new pilots began to talk amongst themselves. No one came near Max, but getting to see Than and C-3 again so filled his mind that even if he had cared he wouldn't have done anything. After a minute or two, deciding that the pair had gotten enough conversation time, he left the dorm room and, seeing both standing at the end of the damp, musky corridor, he called. Than turned and smiled, and Max stretched out a hand.

"Sir," he began, as T took the hand is his. "Back from the dead I see," he laughed, pleased Max to see Than responding in kind.

"How are you Max? I haven't seen you in a long time," Max hesitated before replying.

"Mostly good sir. For all that I complain, I'm getting along well. And you? How was the break? Good to get away for a bit I suppose,"

"You'd think that, wouldn't you?" replied the squadron leader, grinning, as C-3PX2 began:

"Good to see you again Max. I look forward to flying with you again."

"And to you C," answered Max, happy to be back amongst his old comrades. "So.... is this all of the old Kaphies that are still here?" Than glanced around and sighed.

"I guess so Max. Not much we can do about it I'm afraid. Just have to whip them into shape. As long as our Flight Leaders do their jobs correctly. Actually Max, that reminds me. C3, you can return to your quaters now."

"Yessir," replied the droid as he turned. Than turned to Max and said,

"I understand that you were a Flight Leader
while in Nazgul."

        "That's correct sir,"

"And I suppose that you believe such a position is forthcoming to you here?"

"Sir, if what you mean to say is that there isn't an FL position, I understand." Than looked at Max for a second before smiling.

"No Max, what I meant was that there will be a FL position coming up for you. Just not this minute. We have some things to sort out, and new recruits to get. We hope to have an experienced FL with each flight, the rest new recruits. Okay?"

"Yes sir, no problem." Than smiled and began to leave, but Max called after him, "Sir, do you know anything about eats here?!" The man stopped, turned and said,

          "Whatever you can find!"

Rutian, Aslond, made a swift jerking motion with his shoulder. The result was that the quick jab aimed at him managed to slide by without much more than a scraping feeling as the knuckles of his opponent grazed him. The fight was just in its beginning stages but the young recruit didn't really stand a chance. Tested in multiple forms of combat, Stormtroopers never seemed ready to fight somebody that fought with the true intent of not being bested. Sad really, when their training forced them to live or die.

The next blow as actually Rutians. In a snake like movement he whipped his elbow out and struck the larger man in the solar plexus, knocking the wind from him. Rutian took the advantage and continued the push. Using what some would call a 'cheap' tactic he stepped on the man's foot and drove his right knee into his groin. The impact of the blow lifted his mass from the ground. On his descent Rutian brought down the left leg and drove him into the mat.

"As usual, not fast enough, not smart enough. No matter how many times I disgrace you, you never learn." Rutian mumbled as he walked towards the exit of the small gymnasium. Never one for conversation, or social matters in general, Rutian simply left.

Supposedly he was being cleared for active duty and had been taken off guard a week earlier. The Empire decided that once one in his position was stable enough to not be a danger to his squadron members he was released into the loving care of yet another squadron. This time it was some half baked squadron with no real experienced members in the ranks. It was something of a joke to some of the other pilots, but Rutian really didn't care. The more he flew, the closer he got to his blessed freedom, and perhaps could settle down and close his eyes all on his own. Mabye the voices would leave.

Walking around the small base wasn't complicated, and he knew exactly where the quarters of the squadron was to be. There were few that stood in his way any more. Rutian formed a beautiful figure of nobility with his attractive blue skin, well muscled form, and unwavering stance. That was not what got people out of his way. In his eyes was a look of death and hatred, and in his hands he carried his Lyaer'tsa.

Rutian quickly found the barracks nearly deserted, and opted for the next best option: The hangar. Inside, incidentally just turning to face him he found Than, Kaph's Squadron Leader. With a simple nod and a short salute with his Lyaer'tsa Rutian addressed his new leader.

"Petty Officer Second Class Rutian reporting. Transfered from medical insanity custody to Kaph squadron."

C-3PX2 walked through the outpost, wondering and noting the structures age. This base had the design traits of the Palpatine era, an old and no longer used design. There were newer and better designs available to the Constructions crews. This current base offered limited protection against newer tactics developed after its construction. The base was in need of a major refit or rebuilding. Sadly, at the current time, the credits did not exist that would allow the base to get that refit. The pilots and Troopers would have to rely on their skill, and not the base design, to keep them safe.

“Hey you, Droid, Halt!” someone yelled.

C-3PX2 turned to see who it was, to see it was a non-imperial mechanic of the base.

“Where the hell is your restraining bolt? You are not permitted to be out here without one.” The mechanic said as he went to place a Restraining Bolt onto C-3PX2.

“If you wish for Arm to remain attached to your body, you will step away now.” C-3PX2 warned.

“Big words, let’s see you stop me.” The mechanic said as he pulled out a plasma torch to weld the bolt onto C-3PX2.

Without hesitation, C-3PX2 picked up the mechanic and threw him into a pile of barrels standing next to a wall.

C-3PX2 left the area, deciding it may be best to return to his squadron and find out what their orders were while they were here. He began to walk towards the barracks, where he expected the squadron still would be.

Ph'rranix woke up at exactly 4:30 A.M. standard galactic time. He
slowly raised hisself up and looked around, and found no one was awake
yet. He crept out of the dorm room and towards the workout room. On his
way there, he found what appeared to be a recreational room and a
cafeteria. Suddenly alarmed by the growl of his stomach, Ph'rranix decided
to grab a bite to eat before begining he morning exercise.
Unsurprisingly, he found no food which agreed with a Wookie's stomach other than a
protein bar. [So much for breakfast,] Ph'rranoz bellowed to himself.
Upon reaching the exercise room, he discovered another person
already in there. He entered the room to find Than Sion, his squad
commander, vigrously running on a treadmill.

[Good morrning sirr] Ph'rranix growled in a suprised tone.

"Ah, good morning Ph'rranix!" Than replied in an exhausted voice. "It's
nice to find someone who doesn't waste their morning sleeping in," he
finished

[A morrning jog always gets me rready forr the day,] Ph'rranix replied
as he stepped on to his own treadmill. He put his weight and desired
intensity in then pressed the start button and began at a fast jog. A few
minutes later he started running at a full sprint which Ph'rranix kept
at for many minutes. Still in shock by the amount of endurance this
wookie had, Than Sion stared at Ph'rranix as they stepped off their
respective pieces of equipment.

"I have never seen anyone, let alone a Wookie run that fast for that
long," Than said in amazement.

[My morrning rroutine involves a 2 mile sprint sirr,] Ph'rranix replied
in a cold tone. His breathe was still calm for what seemed to be a
very intense workout already.

"Yes, well if you're flying skills match your stamina then you will be
a force to be reckoned with," Than said, "I will see you later." With
that Than Sion left the room and Ph'rranix resumed his workout.

Rocket woke up to find C-3 standing by the only window in the small room of the medical room that he was in.

“Sir” Rocket starts to do a salute.
“At ease crewman” C-3 says also gesturing to the only other chair in the room.

Rocket starts to try to stand up and move to the chair but found that this was harder to do than he thought. Rocket than decides to try and shift into the chair with the least amount of movement possible.

“Sir was the mission a success?”
“It was and we didn’t loss anyone, but that’s in the past right now I have to tell you that you have been reassigned.”
“Sir what about Viper, what’s gonna happen to them?”
“They are receiving new pilots most of the squadron is staying there though.”
“What do you mean by that Sir?”
“Well when you were reassigned they also shipped you to the squad’s base.”
“So that means that I am not on the same plant as Viper?”
“Nope you are on Atticus IV.”
“So how did I make it to VE space?”
“Well from what we heard you make it only a couple of light-years from Viper and they just sent a recovery crew to get you.”
“Okay so than I have been reassigned that means new faces right sir?”
“Yes that does it also means that you have a new wingmate, you will meet him at the briefing that the commander is giving and you’ll meet the rest of the squad.”

Well this is gonna be fun, yet again something happens to me and I have to deal with it the best way I can. Which reminds me where did the StarViper that I flew go?

I hope you are fine with me putting in that you tell me that i have been reassigned C-3, because you are the only one that my character knows. Ph'rranix left the exercise room sometime later and caught a wiff of Bantha bacon. Suddenly he did a complete 180 degree turn and headed toward the wonderful smell.

[Wherre did you find that?] He asked.

"In the 'fridge, why?" Rocketman retorted.

[I'm hungrry and it smells good,] Ph'rranix coldly replied.

"Well sorry, but this is the last of it." Rocket snarled back. Ph'rranix walked to the refrigerator and found that there was infact, no more Bantha bacon. He did, however, find some sausage that didn't seem to be there before. Ph'rranix took it out and began to unwrap it.

"Stop!" Rocket yelled.

[Why?] Ph'rranix roared in an annoyed and slightly aggravated tone.

"That's one of the other squad members breakfast," he replied with a tone that matched Ph'rranix.

[It's mine now,] Ph'rranix retorted. [Orr do you want to stop me?] he added while stretching to become as tall as possible.

"N-no, that's okay. You can h-have it," Rocket said nervously.

[Glad you see it my way,] Ph'rranix growled back.

Sion entered the hanger as though he was looking for someone.  His eyes scanned the large space until they locked onto a tall, dark haired woman.

“I think I should go into competitive staring competitions,” said Thaan to the attractive woman.  “I got a lot of practice with the new recruits during the shuttle ride over.”

“You seem to get a lot of practice when you’re around me as well,” commented Skylla.

“I think you’re mixing me up with Krius. It’s going to be so odd without him around.”

The woman laughed.  “I think the squadron will do just fine with a little less adult ADHD.”

“You miss him too, you just won’t admit it.  It’s nice to see you again.”

“Yeah, I missed you too.  Being here a week early with only Max as company gets kind of lonely.  You holed yourself up with the rest of the squadron, didn’t you?”

“Yeah, thought I’d use that room as an office instead.  Wouldn’t get one otherwise since this place is tight on space.”  Skylla glared at him.  “Don’t worry; I’ll keep the desk clean.”

The green eyed woman smiled at him.  “That’s a lie; don’t think I don’t know how much paper work you have laying around.”

“Yeah, something like that...Did the fighters all get here in one piece?”

“All 13 of them, including the modified one for Ph’rranix and that Hawkbat that you had your heart dead set on bringing.”

“What, I needed a quick escape route just incase you get angry at me and it has a hyper drive.”

“Who said you’d even make it to the fighter?”

Sion laughed.  “The recruits are going to hate me.  I take them away from their girlfriends and I take mine with me.”

“We could just not tell them,” said Skylla jokingly.

“Yeah, that’ll work.  Speaking of recruits, are the simulators up to current specs?”

“The simulators are just about the only that is post Endor in this base and that’s only because they’re required to as a training facility.”

“The servers are probably up to date as well.  Other than that I’ll agree with you.  They probably should invest in some new stuff.  On the other hand, credits are tight and this place is far out.”

A muscular, blue alien walked into the hanger.  Sion had a hunch about who he was.

"Petty Officer Second Class Rutian reporting,” said the Twi’lek.  “Transferred from medical insanity custody to Kaph squadron."

Thaan Sion returned the salute with no sign of being disturbed by the recruit’s origin.  “I received the transfer orders when the shuttle dropped out of hyperspace.  I was wondering when I’d run into you.”  The commander chuckled.  “Insanity custody, aye.  Working under Evenson can do that, especially lately it would seem.  Heard he was running a tighter ship as of late.  I digress, welcome to Kaph.”

Ph'rranix walked over to the simulator which had been modified for a 7'9" tall Wookie to comfortably fit in and stepped inside. It was still somewhat cramped but he didn't mind. After all, not many species are that large so they don't know the size requirements for him.

Ph'rranix began setting up a warm up with 4 X-Wings against his TIE Fighter. As the battle began, he noticed they where flying somewhat tight. Ph'rranix accelerated to match his first target's speed and pulled in behind him easily destroying the X-Wing. During that small amount of time however, another fighter sandwiched him. After a quick barrel roll Ph'rranix was in a postion to take that pilot out also. A short time later he finished off the other two X-Wing pilots and returned to base.

[I need a drrink,] he said to himself. With that he opened the simulator to find the area just as vacant as when he began. He reached the door and found Rocketman entering the sim room.

"Ah I found some competition," Rocket snarled.

[I suppose so,] Ph'rranix retorted.

"Well let's go then. You verse me," Rocketman snickered

[I don't want to disgrrace you,] Ph'rranix growled coldly. [You may choose the settings.]

“Well lets see you make it back to VE space with a StarViper that I thought would blow up upon getting back to VE space, but enough of that you are in for it now.”

Rocket walks over to the sim to start the boot up so he can twiddle with the settings.

“I hope you like the battle of Endor because that’s gonna be our fighting ground. Also don’t try to jump to hyperspace cause it won’t work I disabled it. Whoever lasts the longest wins okay.”

Rocket starts to bring up the simulator programs looking for the battle of Endor hopping that they have it, so he does not have to go to his room and get it. Rocket finds the program of the battle and starts to upload it.

“Okay I am gonna go easy on you at first I am starting you off at the farthest Empire Capital Ship I can find. Did I mention that not only will you have to survive you also will have to take out an a-wing that has a pretty good pilot in it, and its not me I will have way to many things to destroy so I don’t die right off the bat if you think you can start from where I am just tell me.”

Rocket puts the fighters that he and Stormz will be piloting to Tie Interceptors.

“So you think you can handle yourself in a star fight I guess we will find out won’t we. Also be careful not to let them surround you that won’t look good will it.”

C-3PX2 sat at a table in the room with the Simulators. He watched as some of his squadron mates entered the simulators, where they tested and tuned their skills. Though he did not yet enter the simulators, instead he watched and watched as the pilot in Kaph Squadron did their simulations. Though “waiting” and “watching” are not the best words to describe what he was doing. The truth was he was playing Pazaak in his head, a virtual reality display of a Pazaak game. No one knew this though, adding a slight bit of hilarity to it. C-3PX2, this Chrome Killing Machine, sitting there playing Pazaak. Though he was only going to play one last round before hitting the simulators. The score was tied at two rounds each, the winner of the next round took it all.

He began the game with the opponents turn, who drew their card. They drew a positive three, making their total three, they then ended their turn. C-3PX2 started the same, drawing a Five, taking his total to five. The opponent, drawing their card, a eight, making their total eleven and ending their turn. C-3Px2 drew his card, which was a six, taking his total to eleven, where he again ended his turn. The opponent drew their card for their turn, a Six and then they threw down a card of Two. Their total was now Nineteen, and they would Stand on it. C-3PX2 drew his card, a five, making his total sixteen. He drew another card, a six. He was over, with a total of Twenty-Two. Quickly, he threw a negative two card down, taking his total down to Twenty, the winning score.

With the win, C-3PX2 shut down the game of Pazaak and walked over to the Simulator.

[I'll starrt wherre everr you do,] Ph'rranix said emotionless as he closed the simulator around him.

"Alright, let me know when you need help," Rocket replied cautiously. "Okay, I'm done with the settings. Time for some fun."

They both exited the Star Destroyer and instantly turned in opposite directions. An A-Wing abruptly swept over Ph'rranix TIE Interceptor firing furiously and narrowly missing his left wing. Ph'rranix quickly performed an immelman maneuver to evade the attacker before returning fire which soon led to the destuction of the A-Wing.

[A-wing is gone, now what?] Ph'rranix retorted sardonicly.

"Cover me. I'm in over my head," Rocketman replied nervously.

Ph'tranix dropped in behind Rocketman's attacker as another X-Wing
swooped in with all four cannons blazing at Ph'rranix's TIE.

[Rrocket, make a High-G turn to the rright and go afterr that otherr
bogey. I will firre as you begin the manueverr,] he said confidently.

"I hope you've got good aim," Rocket responded nervously. "Initiating
High-G turn." With that Ph'rranix fired and watched as his target blew
into thousands of fragments. Suddenly his missile warning sounded.

[Rrocket, he's going for a torpedo lock!] Ph'rranix roared.

"Almost got him. Just don't let him fire or your going to be toast,"
Rocket replied almost in a joking voice. Ph'rranix took a quick look
behind him and witnessed a beautifully executed shot on the X-Wing's main
drive. Immediately the assailant became a brilliant blue-white blaze
then dissapeared.

[Grreat shot!] Ph'rranix bellowed extatically. [Only thrree more pesky
rebels to go.]

"Right, you take the one on the left. I will take the right and we can
mess with the one in the middle," Rocketman said. "Stay with me until I
give the signal then break hard to the left as I break to the right,"
he finished.  The pair remained on their combat spread as they flew
head on towards their targets. "Now!" Rocket shouted. A moment later the
broke their respective ways and set themselves up perfectly for an
attack on their targets. Ph'rranix shot at his target grazing the R2 unit
with one blast and scored a direct hit on the starboard engine with the
other shot. He rolled to intercept the last fighter as his previous
opponent disintegrated.

[On to the last fighterr,] Ph'rranix bellowed in a self-assuring tone.
[How are you coming?]

"He's a sneaky little sucker. But I will have him momentarily," Rocket
retorted. "Got him!" he yelled excitedly. Rocket quickly joined
Ph'rranix in the pursuit of the last fighter. As the pair flew in for the last
kill, Rocket glanced over to Ph'rranix just in time to watch as
Ph'rranix barrel rolled over him and fires while upside down with perfect
accuracy.

"Holy crap!" Rocket shouted in amazment and contempt. "Don't do that. I
almost soiled my britches."

Ph'rranix laughed then responded with a growl of confidence.

"Well let's head back. Good shooting today." Rocketman said as he
flipped over and headed back to base.

Pilot Locker Room: Day 1, 1440 Hours

Thaan Sion zipped up the black flight suit; it felt so good to be wearing it again.  He put his hand upon the black, red, and grey Kaph insignia.  Even though there were new people in the house, he felt like he was finally home again.  Sion pulled the flack armor over his torso and snapped it together.  The Commander slid the black, leather gloves over his hands.  He was proud to have worn them for so long.  The enemy’s propaganda claimed that a TIE pilot was mindless and blood thirsty.  To a large portion of the galaxy he was an icon of evil in the sky, a banshee screaming high above.

The New Republic were terrorists that had managed to establish themselves as a galactic government.  You can call a snake a dove, but it’s still a snake.  They were still the Rebel Alliance, they were still hypocrites.  The Emperor himself may have been a bad man, but at least there was order under his rein.  The Empire fell apart in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, the galaxy went with it.  The New Republic existed to bicker about picking up the pieces.

Sion took his helmet under one arm and picked up his data pad with the other.  He left the room, turned the corner, went through a door, and stepped out on the catwalk.  All the fighters lined up on their racks were a magnificent sight.  Thaan couldn’t wait to get flying again.  As expected, he was the first one there.  Sion sat down upon a supply crate and waited.  First to come was Skylla; she smiled at Thaan and sat down next to him on the box.  C-3PX2 and Max Fargon came in together shortly after.  Eventually the recruits filed in as well.  Kaph 1 stood up and got a good look at them all.

“No matter if you’re returning, a recruit, or a transfer, I’d like to welcome you all to Kaph Squadron,” began the Lieutenant.  “I’m sorry we haven’t really been able to have a meeting before now, there wasn’t much time between the reformation of Kaph and us being shipped out here.  Many of us are still strangers, but in the months ahead we will become closer than brothers and sisters.  Our future is not an easy one; our great nation has been vigorously pushing toward the core.  Preceding the Battle of Hast we were a no name little remnant group.  Before the fires went cold, though, they knew we were a force to be reckoned with.  The fight ahead is going to be as fierce as ever.  We can no longer just send novice pilots into the hot zone right out of the academy.  That’s why we’re here on Atticus, so we can prepare to fight an advanced enemy that loathes us more than ever.  We must train so that we can kill them before they kill us.

“Kaph Squadron was once the most elite fighter group in the entire Navy.  Now it is nothing, a no name squadron among many in the Vast Empire Navy.  For now, that is.  We will not settle for this low existence.  We will regain Kaph’s former glory, fighting tooth and nail if need be.  This squadron has a culture, a culture that is greater than all the other squadrons’.  We are held together not by the rigid glue of militarism, but the nuclear bond of camaraderie.  Good pilots don’t come out of Kaph because of the selectiveness of an elitist commander.  Great pilots are created because its commander pushes all of his men forward with a will stronger than the best durasteel.  We are cultured not because we strut around with sticks up our asses, but because we do things in our own casual way without giving a damn what anyone else thinks.  The other squadrons will feel threatened because we don’t conform to their little box.  You’ll be criticized and taunted because of our non-conformist culture.  Just remember that the only place we need to prove ourselves is in the cockpit.

“It is important that the Kaph Culture is contained within our ranks.  You will practice the proper etiquette outside of our squadron and you will show the outmost respect to your superiors such as Line Captain Money.  But like I said earlier, outside of combat or official military gathering there is no reason for me to lead from a high place.  I have enough self confidence to know I’m in charge without being called ‘sir’ or ‘Lieutenant.’  Only in the heat of battle will I need to be rigid and strict.  I am not above you but one of you.  I am the leader among the men, not the dictator upon his balcony.  Be warned, I may speak softly, but I do carry a big stick...and a gun for that matter.

“Unfortunately, we’re not cleared for flying until tomorrow after twelve hundred hours.  I wanted you all in flight suit so you’d understand that you were filling big shoes.  Many have died in Kaph fighting the good fight against our two faced enemy.  Do not soil their name...

“Over the years the engineers on duty here got bored.  So they ended up throwing together a major construction project...well, major for this base that seems to be having it historic value preserved or something.  Anyway, after it was all done and over with, this stingy little base was provided with the extremely important service of bartending.  I thought we’d go check out their work...dismissed.”

Sion headed toward the exit, leaving his new pilots once again confused by their leader’s tendency to shift between being serious and casual.  Then they came to their senses and quickly followed their Commander to the escape of spirits.  Thaan’s attitude must have been refreshing after the academy and other commander’s preaching of sobriety.

The Lieutenant turned his dishwater blonde head over his shoulder and looked once more at the group of individuals he was tasked to turn into a unit.

“Drink responsibly because I’m still going to make you all get out of bed bright and early, hangover or not,” informed Sion.  He then pressed on, wondering when the last time Corellian whiskey had touched his lips...

OOC:
You guys seem to be mostly moving onto day two so I thought I’d stick this in before the razor edge of the plot line sliced too far ahead.  If you want to continue with your current situations, go ahead.  If you want to reply to the meeting, be my guest.  Like I said before, this story isn’t very structured.  Just so other’s don’t get confused, I would recommend that you label at least the day your post is taking place (day 1 being the same day we got here) if not also the time.  Keep up the good work, guys.

Ph'rranix took decided to familiarize himself with this facility that he will be staying at for so long. He left his dorm and turn down the first hallway to the left was the Cafeteria and to the right was the rec room. Ph'rranix stepped inside to find a pair of squad mates beginning a game of Pazaak in one corner and another sitting in the adjacent corner reading a data pad.

[Nothing interresting here,] he growled to himself as he turned around to leave.

Upon going down the next hall he found an old storage room filled with what looked like useless stuff. Much of it had a small mountain of dust. However, after a more thorough investigation Ph'rranix found a few items the he could use. the first was a retractable arm, it was rusty but still worked well. The second was what looked to be a combat droid that was disassembled. Ph'rranix threw all the pieces he could find in a box and darted off to his room to get his equipment bag. Once he had his bag he ran over to a work station and began reconstructing the battered old droid.

******

"Battle Droid A-316 operational," said the droid. Ph'rranix growled an order and the droid instantly turned around and began moving toward the practice range. A few minutes later they arrived to find no one there. Ph'rranix snagged a few targets from the table in the far left corner of the room and hung them up.

[Firre when you'rre rready,] Ph'rranix bellowed. It took the droid only a few seconds to fire at all three targets. leaving a hole through the head of each one. [Imprressive,] Ph'rranix growled quietly. [Let's go show you to the squad commanderr.]

I hope it's ok that I brought a droid in. He's not going to be a regular in the story but I wanted a droid so now I have one

Exercise Room Hallway: Day 2, 0500

Thaan had been rather shocked to see someone else up so early.  Even in the military you didn’t see a lot of people up that early.  Exhausted by all of paper work and stress of the last couple weeks, he turned in the night before rather early.  Consequently, he was wide awake during the wee hours of the morning.  The lack of action he experienced in civilian life made him feel rather wound up.  He took to running a lot to use up his excess energy.  It also acted as a replacement to working hard in the simulators.  The funny thing about it was the fact that even with the increased stamina; he still was as scrawny looking as before.

He immediately hit the showers.  Civilians tended to hate shower rooms because of the lack of privacy.  In the military there was no such thing as privacy so no one ever complained about them.  Sion felt heat dissipate from his body and his muscle relax.  If there was one thing he looked forward to most after a mission it was a long shower.

Kaph 1 opened up his gym locker and pulled out his grays for the day.  For some reason he had always been attracted to the simple uniform, though he never liked wearing the hat.  This time Sion didn’t neglect to put it on, he had a meeting with the base commander who had been stationed here since the Emperor and Vader were calling the shots.  Thaan didn’t want to get on the man’s bad side because you couldn’t get much done without his consent.
***

The Ensign knocked on Captain Ewell’s door.

“You may enter,” said the base commander.

Kaph Leader saluted Ewell.  “Lieutenant Thaan Sion reporting for duty, sir.”

The graying man stood up and returned the salute.  “Please take a seat, Lieutenant.  First off I’d like to welcome you and your squadron to my complex on Atticus IV.  The sad truth of the matter is that only recently have I felt that my work here has had any importance.  The training grounds have given this base an actual purpose to help out with the war effort instead of just leaving it manned as an emergency fall back point.”  Ewell paused for a moment.  It seemed that bitter feeling had come up.

“I might as well skip all the formalities and pretty talk and cut to the chase.  The facts are that you have a reputation that precedes you.  You’re cocky, tactless, run your squadron more like a gang than a military group, and seem to have an issue with navel dress code.  I’m surprised you bothered to actually keep your head covered.  I have every reason to dislike you.  The thing is that we have something in common; we’ve been both screwed over by the higher ups.  We’ve both been shot down from higher places.  You were once a member of the Kaph Big Four, the honorable commander of an elite squadron.  It’s amazing how bipolar your reputation is.  As for me, I was once the captain of my own Strike Cruiser.  Then one of my superiors blamed me for the failure of a major operation in order to cover his own ass.  As punishment, I was made the care taker of this sorry little rock...  You’re a damn good commander even though it seems you’re doing everything wrong.  I just want you to know that I’ll give you all the help I can to return Kaph to its former glory.  Even so, I’ll be watching you, Lieutenant.  As pathetic as this base is, I’m still in charge here.  You will play by my rules or suffer the consequences.  Dismissed...”

"Hey you! Stop," a unfamiliar voice from behind Ph'rranix yelled. He turned around to find Captain Ewell walking toward him. Ph'rranix shuffled around to saluted the commander. "At ease," he said. "Who are you?"

[Leading Crrewman Ph'rrrranix Krrazanrr,] he bellowed still at attention.

"I see. Well Crewman Krazanr, where did you find that droid?" the commander asked.

[I found it in a storrage rroom sirr,] he growled.

"Who gave you permission to reassemble it?" Captain Ewell snorted.

Ph'rranix bowed his head in shame and roared, [No one sirr.]

"Alright, I will give you two options. Either disassemble it and replace it in the storage room, or pay me 1,000 credits for the scragly old thing," the commander responded. Ph'rranix took a moment to decide.

[When do you want the credits sirr,] Ph'rranix bellowed.

"On my desk in one standard hour," the Captain retorted. With that Captain Ewell turned around and headed back to his office. Ph'rranix scurried back to his dorm with the combat droid in tow.

*******

[Herre's yourr one thousand crredits,] Ph'rranix growled. He slapped the money down.

"Ah, good. Here is the right of owner ship," said the commander. "Any further questions or bargains?" There was a long moment of silence before the commander spoke again. "Well then, you are dismissed." Ph'rranix saluted his superior officer and exited the room with the droid right behind him.

[A-316, return to the dorm and powerr down. I will meet you at the melee training room at 1900.] Ph'rranix growled to the droid.

"Acknowledged," replied the A-Series Assassin Droid. A-316 turned around and headed back for the dorm as Ph'rranix began his journey to the simulator room.

Kaph Leader: Day 2

The memories of his meeting with Captain Ewell still fresh, Sion waltzed into the simulator room.  He was pleased to see both C3 and Rocket there.

“So crewman, I heard that you’ve actually seen some real live combat,” said Sion.

“Yeah,” replied Rocketman with the hint of ego that was iconic of young pilots.

“How would you like to have a one on one dogfight with me on the sims?” asked Sion.  “I haven’t been in a fighter for about six months and I’d like to see how rusty I’ve become.”

“I’d be glade to help you out...sir,” said the Crewman.  The sir was added in as another officer entered the simulator room.

“Excellent, we’ll be flying standard VEN Interceptors.  That’s what we’d most likely be piloting in a real life situation, plus we don’t need anything fancy for this.  It will be just you and me, no need for computer controlled ships.  We’ll both start on either side of a moon and work our way toward each other.  Any objections?”

“It looks fair enough to me, sir,” said Rocket.  The other officer was still in the room checking stats on one of the instructor computers.

“Good,” Thaan stuck out his hand.  “May the best man win...”

OOC:
Remember, Rocket, that my character has a tremendously large amount of combat experience compared to yours.  Realistically he would win.  On the other hand, you can prove that Rocketman isn’t completely Academy fodder.

Rose Thorn

Skylla was making her way to the sims when she heard a loud whistle.  She turned around to see the poster boy for all fighter jockeys.  The pilot had slick, black hair; a wide, toothy grin; and a head bigger than his waist.  There was a single truth about men like him, they were handsome on the outside but trash within.

“That must be the finest ass in this system,” said the fighter pilot.  “None of the local girls could hold a glow stick up to you.”

“I’m already taken,” said Skylla crisply.  “I’d recommend that you find some ditz that would actually be turned on by your perverted talk.”

“What, you mean that washed up, sorry excuse for a commander with his salvaged squadron?  Haven’t you heard, Zombie Squadron happens to hold the most promising Academy graduates from the last class.  On top of that, it’s backed up by an experienced command staff.  We’re what’s hot right now.  I just happen to be the XO of this fine fighter group.

“Oh please tell me, where were you at the battle of Hast?” asked Skylla with venom in her voice.

“Well, I wasn’t exactly there... but I’d still be able to take on that scrawny coward who couldn’t handle the heat no more so he left...”

Ph’rranix must have picked up on the conversation because he came darting around the corner.  The wookie was too late to help.  Skylla had the cocky pilot pinned up against the wall.  Between punches she rattled off lines like “he left because the higher ups f@#$!d him over” and “he’s more of a man than you’ll ever be.”

She let him go after his nose started bleeding.  He scampered off without saying another word...

OOC:
Thought you all had me figured out now didn’t you?  Thought I couldn’t be in two places at once now didn’t you?  I basically write from the perspective of two characters.  It keeps writing interesting for me.  As for Zombie Squadron, you can assume they’ll become or arch rivals in the plot line.  A note about my character’s reasons for leaving the Navy.  A lot of it seems to hit too close to home with the RL situation.  Please don’t make assumptions.  For example, Kaph really was disbanded, but that happened after I resigned.

Ph'rranix turned the corner to find a pilot released from being pinned to the wall while Skylla was giving him a good beating. He was too late to help either party but was still curious. [What was that all about, Skllya?] Ph'rranix asked.

"Just some block head trying to pick me up again," she replied in an aggravated tone. "And, telling me that my boyfriend is a useless pilot." He looked at Skylla in confusion.

[Who is yourr boyfrriend?]

"Squad Commander Than Sion. Why?" she responded hastily.

[He didn't allow us to brring our girrlfrriens or wives,] Ph'rranix growled coldly.

"Well I suprised him by showing up here," she said cheerfully, almost as if trying to ease Ph'rranix's anger. She'd seen an angry Wookie first hand and didn't bother to see another one.

[I must speak with my Squad Commanderr,] he said very short. She quickly noticed that her attempt to lighten his mood didn't work.

"Whatever," she snapped back. Skylla turned around and stomped off as Ph'rranix walked with a purposeful step toward the sim room.

[Sirr! I must speak with you,] he bellowed in an obviously cold and irritated tone. He Saluted Than Sion as the squad commander stepped out of the simulator.

"Yes, what is it?" Than asked in a bewildered tone.

[I met yourr girrlfrriend just a moment ago. Although it occurred to me that they were not allowed to join us herre at the base. So why do you get to brreak the rrules?] Ph'rranix roared. A small crowd had gathered to witness this upheaval.

"Because she is part of the squad. And I would suggest that you do not speak to a commanding officer in that tone," the other replied sternly. Extremely embarrassed by this new insight that was brought to his attention, yet not wanting to show his lack of pride, Ph'rranix stood there and glared at Than for a pair of heart beats.

[My apologies sirr. May I join you and Rrocketman in the simulatorr?] Ph'rranix growled in a rarely heard, sympathetic tone.

"So long as Rocket has no problems with it, then I see why not" Than said in a pleasureable voice.

C-3PX2 climbed into one of the open simulators. They were nothing special, standard imperial-style combat flight simulation computers. He was going to test his abilities against the computer, droid vs. computer. He started by setting the scenario, he did not want to start with anything insane, just something to test himself. He set the scenario for a six on two simulation, and gave himself the wingman for the team of two. He did this, to test his skill of using elements instead of flights; something that is not seen much in naval squadrons, the use of elements in combat.

“Leet Two, Leet One; Form up on my Starboard wing.” He said to the Wingman over comm.

“One, Two; Affirmative, forming on your wing.” The wingman replied.

“Ok, this is going to get annoying as hell. I am designating you a call sign. Your Call sign is now … Snake.”

“One, Snake; Affirmative.”

“Ok, still annoying. Refer to me with my name, C-3PX2.”

“C-3, Snake. Affirmative.”

“Fraking Annoying, but it will have to do.”

“Begin Simulated Combat.” C-3PX2 said to the computer.

At that time, Six Z-95 Headhunter Star fighters were created in the simulation. The Six fighters Accelerated towards C-3PX2 and Snake, at speeds unmatched. C-3PX2 and Snake on the other hand, in their Sienar TIE Fighters began to brace themselves for the onslaught of enemy fighters that were headed their way. At this time through, one thought was going through C-3PX2’s mind, actually more of a Quote than a thought.

Kaph Leader, Simulator Room: Day 2

The wookie’s angry growls startled Thaan at first, but he quickly remembered who was in charge.  The fact was that the wookie had called him out in public; regrettably he then had to bring his foot down publicly as well.  Physically, Thaan didn’t have much to brag about.  But when it came to his will, it was nearly impossible to shatter no matter how badly the odds were stacked against him.  Again, he hated having to humble Ph’rranix out in the open because a lot of the senior members of the base still held onto the xenophobic ideologies of the Galactic Empire.

He’s going to have to learn to keep his temper in check if he wants to avoid having issues in the future.  Though he does have spirit, which is something you always need when living through such hard times as this cursed war.

[My apologies sirr. May I join you and Rrocketman in the simulatorr?] Ph'rranix growled.

"So long as Rocket has no problems with it, then I see why not" Thaan replied.  The scolding was over, time to move on to more productive means of communication.  He awaited Rocketman’s reply.

Sion chuckled to himself.  So he met Skylla.  That must have been one interesting pissing match.  I wonder how Ph’rranix didn’t notice her at the meeting.  Oh well, it’s all over and done with now...

Rose Thorn

Skylla never was one to back down from intimidation.  On the other hand she didn’t want to get Ph’rranix angry either.  She had the fighting skills and strength to take on most human males, but a wookie was an entirely different story written in another language.  When her attempts to calm down Ph’rranix failed, she walked off with style letting Thaan deal with the problem.  She was just as hard headed as he was, the difference was that she didn’t hold the debating and leadership skills that her boyfriend had.

She was making her way towards the squadron’s barracks.  At some point someone would make an argument about a woman sleeping in the same room as the men.  It really wasn’t that big of a deal if someone took the time to think about it.  There were different shower and locker rooms for males and females.  Plus there was the simple fact that anyone who would actually be interested in coming for her would have their ass handed to them.

Skylla noticed a male Twi’lek leaning up against a wall.  She remembered him from his peculiar introduction in the hanger.  He was staring at the opposite wall as though he was in his own little world.

“Hey Rutian, are you ok?” asked Skylla.

The Twi’lek’s focus seemed to return to the real world.  “Yeah, I’m just fine.  Why do you ask?”

“You seemed to be kind of out of it like you were in a daze or something.”

“Nah, I was just thinking about something.”

From what she saw and heard of Rutian so far, he seemed to have some issues.  Thaan would know better than anyone, being the only person in the squadron with access to the Twi’lek’s files.  Yet he seemed to be the only one who wasn’t disturbed by the blue pilot’s potential lack of mental stability.  On the other hand, Thaan had experienced his fair share of hallucinations in his life time.  Though no one but her and maybe a doctor or two knew about them.

“Most of the other members of the squadron seem to be in the sims room right now,” informed Skylla...

Day 1

During the meeting

Rocket wakes up the next morning and finds out that there is another meeting to go to so he starts going there. He gets there and finds out that there was no meeting scheduled for that day and decides to go back to the simulators.

Day 2

Rocket gets finished from the battle that he fought with Stormzs in the battle of Endor. He then decides to go and explore the base so that if they are under attack he would know where the places the enemy would come in if something did happen. Rocket sees that the base is older than he thought. Rocket finds out that the base is not a base that would be easy to defend.

I wonder if they know that if this base gets attacked that this base would not be able to defend well, but be a good place for a planning base if an another base gets attacked. But this base is good for preparing pilots for battle and for solders. I am just glad I made it back to VE space before something bad happened like meeting a New Republic force or pirates.

Rocket than decides that it is time to get back to his training so that his body stays in shape. Rocket gets to the training room and notices that no people are in the room, so he finds that picking up his training would be easier than he expected. After about an hour rocket decides that he caught up on his training, so he decides that it would be a good time to go find his room and take a shower and have a rest.

At the simulators

Rocket enters the sim room and finds that Stromz is there and also finds that the commander is there, and hears there argument about couples.

I guess that wherever you go there will always be problems about couples. Oh well.

The commander starts to come up to Rocket.

“Sir”
“Crewman”
“Do you feel like taking a shot at me in the sim?”
“As long as you don’t get mad when I beat you.”

Rocket does not hear when Stormz starts to talk to the commander.

“So Rocket is that fine?”

Crap this is what happens when I don’t pay attention.

“Of course it is.”
“Fine than let’s begin.”
“Sir I wonder if I can have a little time to learn the systems of the Tie Interceptor.”
“How long Crewman?”
“Thirty minutes Sir.”
“Fine Crewman I will be back in thirty minutes.”
“Stormz are you going to practice or are you going to go and workout?”
“I am familiar with an Interceptor so I will go to the training room.”

Rocket goes into the simulator and starts basic controls for an Interceptor. Rocket finds that the controls are almost the same as a Tie Fighter so he could learn the controls faster than he could with the StarViper.

Well at least this is not a Tie Defender because I would not have any idea on how to fly this thing.

Kaph Leader: Day 2, 1030 Hours

I don’t see exactly why Rocket would need to learn the controls of an Interceptor.  Last I remember the “squint” is the primary platform in simulator training and the only thing they do actual flying with in the VENA.  I guess he just needs to shake the dust off after flying a non TIE Class fighter in his last mission.

Thaan felt a bit hungry at this point and decided to get a bite to eat while he had his thirty minutes.  When it came to style, the officer’s mess was just as boring as the rest of the base.  Same gray walls and white lights; though, someone did take the time to keep the black deck polished.  Unlike the enlisted mess, which was made up of long rows of rectangular, benched tables, the officer’s were given smaller, round tables with chairs.  On top of that, the food was better and there was actually music playing, even if it was too Palpatine Era for Sion’s taste.

Kaph 1 knew better than to eat heavily before combat, even in one of the simulators.  He went up to the counter and ordered only a salad, croissant, and a bottle of water.  It was an odd hour of the day for eating, so the mess was rather empty.  Kaph Leader sat down at an empty table and pulled out his data pad.  The nice thing about military bases was that they always had a holonet receiver.  He opened up a news feed.  Thrawn took three more systems and tensions were building up between the Vast Empire and some other remnant, Thaan really wasn’t listening very intently.  A man with short, bleach blonde hair about Sion’s age sat down at his table.

“Heard a new squadron arrived on base just yesterday,” said the man.  “I thought I’d hunt down the commander and introduce myself.”  The officer held out his hand.  “The name’s Blake Valdes, Commander of Zombie Squadron.”

Kaph Leader accepted the hand shake.  “Thaan Sion, Commander of Kaph Squadron.”

“Kaph...I heard it got disbanded.  Too bad, was the most elite fighter group in the Navy.”

“Sadly, it was.  It was reopened very recently and with only four veteran members.”

“So we’re basically in the same boat, experienced pilots training a bunch of snotty academy graduates.”

“How do you know I’m experienced?”

“Sion, don’t try to humble yourself.  You should have learned by now that you have a reputation.  Being an Elite Commander tends to not go unnoticed.  Your leadership style also sticks out like a sore thumb.  Truth is, my men don’t like you, or your squadron for that matter.  They’re all too damn young and arrogant, they look at your rank and see your former positions as some kind of mistake.  Your squadron receives guilt by association.”

“I’ve tended to go unnoticed by the higher ups at times,” said Sion dismissively.

“Exactly, they don’t look at things the way you and I do.  They don’t take time to look at your combat record and what your squadron has done.  They just look at the surface and judge based off that.  The thing is that I’m sick of their attitude of superiority.”  A look of genuine worry passed over Valdes’ face.  “I want someone to humble them so they don’t go off arrogantly and get themselves killed.”

“This isn’t the Elite Kaph of the last generation.  Have you looked at my men’s sim records?  They’re nothing to brag about.”

“I’m not saying you have to hand us our asses.  I just want to reinforce this rivalry that seems to be naturally occurring.  All they need is a squadron that’s an equal match with them, that way they’ll lose their sense of invincibility.”

“How do you know there’s something going down between our two squadrons?”

“Exhibit A, my XO’s mysterious bloody nose.”

“Who did your XO get in a fight with?”

“He claims the wookie, though he looked a little too intact for that to be the case.  So I checked the security camera’s to find out it was that woman in your squad.”

Thaan chuckled.  “Skylla has that way with men.”

“Ringer’s going to get something broken off if he doesn’t stop thinking he can hit on anything with two legs and a rack.  It’s that kind of thinking I want to stop.  I can work their asses from sunrise to sunset, but it’ll take an outside influence to put them in their place.  Might as well be by a ‘backwards thinking’ populist like you.”

“You’re on,” replied Sion.

“I knew you’d say yes.  Now here’s what I got planned for us today...”

OOC:
Wrap up your current situations.  Rocket, Stormz, let’s keep our little simulator battle to a few posts.  The situation has changed, the men upstairs and I are plotting.  I need to get you guys used to structured story writing.

Rocket sets up the basic control systems simulator so he can learn how the controls of an Interceptor work. Rocket sets up the simulator so that after fifteen minutes two fighters would attack him, so he can learn how to handle the fighter in an attack.

Well at least this isn’t as hard as flying a StarViper. I wonder if t can take as much pressure as a Tie Fighter cause if it can’t than what’s the point of making a fighter that has shields and has better weapons then the main fighter. The fact that the Tie Fighter went so long and is still in so good of use is the reason why the tie was made in the first place. The fact that I did not get taught how to fly in an Interceptor is why I am in here right now. I wish that we had Tie’s in this squad, but it’s better that way because there is better shielding in this fighter. I do miss my tie that I was assigned to in Viper, but hey the more people we have come into the VE the more we can defend against attacks from pirates, and the New Republic.

Rocket brings the Interceptor into hyperspace so he can start with learning what is different than in a Tie Fighter. He starts doing basic movements with the fighter so he can figure what it can handle. He finds out that the fighter can handle a decent amount of stress. He also finds out that some of the backdrops of the tie fighter are fixed in the interceptor.

I don’t know why I am doing this for, because every fighter is different compared to another person’s fighter. I wonder is the fact that when they made this if they purposely made new problems with the fighter than the Tie Fighter had. I wonder if they also thought that if they added shields to a fighter it would change how it acts in a space or plant battle. I think that this fighter is good for what it is worth, I would like to stay with this fighter as long as I can.

Rocket finds that when the fighter is put under a lot of stress it can come back to be able to destroy a lot of fighters. He looks at his sensors and sees that two fighters are coming to destroy him. So he flips the fighter around to try and scare the closest fighter into thinking that he is going to run into him. The pilot in the other fighter pulls out to early leading to him getting hit and leading to the engine getting hit. The other fighter pulls around and seeing his buddy get blasted he flips back and starts to get so distance between him and Rocket. Rocket putts engines to full to catch up to him while laying him with laser fire. Rocket catches the fighter because he tried to pull out of a break turn but did not do it causes of one the laser fire hit the engine when he was doing it. Rocket pulls up behind him and launches a missile at him therefore ending the simulator.

Ph'rranix kept a slow pace while he walked toward the training room. A light exercise always helped him to relax before a battle, and this was going to be no easy battle. The recruit was going up against one of the most well-known and decorated pilots in the Vast Empire. Not only that but he has another recruit who will be gunning for him also. The more Ph'rranix contemplated the upcoming battle the more nervous he became.

I need to calm down. He thought to himself. Kaph 3 looked around at the different machines as he entered the room. Ph'rranix decided to use the treadmill for the limited time he had to prepare his body. His normal routine started off with a light jog but he didn't want to expend too much energy so the pilot began at a brisk walk and slowly made his way up to a nice jogging pace a few minutes later. He kept the up his jogging pace for the remainder of his 30 minute warm up. Ph'rranix shut the treadmill off and began his journey back to the simulation room.

*********
[Rready yet?] said the Wookie.

"Why are you that anxious to get your ass handed to you?" Rocket snarled back.

"Settle down you two," Thaan put in.

[Sorrrry sirr,]

"Simulator is almost ready ladies."

The three pilots climbed into their respective stations, and logged into the sim. Each member gave the all clear signal and the screen before each of them came to life.

Outside the simulator room, things were quiet; it was just a basic day in the Imperial Outpost. Technicians and Workers walked slowly as they normally would. Nothing special was going on today. They all had Jobs to do; repairing Computer Networks, building structures, hell even Guard Duty. They all did their part to keep the base running.

One worker, was throwing Garbage into a Trash Compactor, as one of his friends (a technician) walked over.

“Hey, I have a Question.” The Technician said.

“Ok, I probably have an answer.” The Worker responded.

“What gets Louder, as it gets smaller?” the Technician asked, as the Worker thought it through.

He looked around; he knew the answer but couldn’t get the words out of his mind and into speech. Then it hit him what the answer was.

“You need Help.” The worker said laughing.

“True, but you are laughing too. You may need as much help as I do.”

“I don’t get paid enough to go get help, and neither do you. Go back to work.”

“Fine.” The technician said as he walked over to the simulator room, and opened the door to see three pilots entering the simulators.

Two on one, aye.  How did I get dragged into this situation?

A wide grin passed over Thaan’s face.  It had been so long since he gripped the control yoke of a TIE, even if it was only a simulator.  The screens flashed on to show the speckled backdrop of space, it felt so right to be here.  Kaph 3 and 4 were somewhere on the other side of that moon.  He had a single purpose at this moment, to destroy them.

Kaph Leader equaled out his shields being that the situation was him against multiple adversaries that could make their presence known from any direction.  He transferred energy from the guns to the engines.  Sion didn’t want to have max fire power, he wanted speed.  He hit the furthest right switch on the control yoke, putting the firing setting to stutter.

Kaph 1 distanced himself from the moon’s surface, sacrificing surprise for altitude.  A tingling sensation shot down his spine and into his legs.  Sion’s heart began to beat faster, he could feel the pulsing blood in his chest, neck, and temple.  The adrenaline had kicked in like a drug.  The feeling of ecstasy was wonderful.

He kept checking his radar for red blimps.  Thaan’s body began to shake from anticipation.  He wanted to tear into his prey because it was the only existence he knew within this metal ball.  As far as the Lieutenant was concerned, he was all alone among the digital stars.  A red dot appeared upon his radar display, it was coming from bellow Kaph 1.  The anxiety faded away leaving only serenity.

“Time to have a little fun,” said Sion over the com set.

Kaph leader pushed more power into the forward shields and proceeded to dive, putting him head on with Kaph 3.  Kaph 1 had not intentions to slow down as the gap between him and his enemy rapidly closed.  They were both within range.  Sion began pivoting rapidly in what could only be described as a completely random pattern.  His knuckles were white, but the look upon his face was completely neutral.

If today is the day I die, I might as well go to hell with a bang and take a few for company.

Then Thaan began to fire.  He strafed emerald tracers to the right, forcing Kaph 3 to the left.  He fired down, sending the Wookie up.  Each movement took place in a fraction of a second.  Sion never gave Ph’rranix a chance to influence his own movements, the wookie was too busy staying on his toes.  He kept on firing, secretly narrowing the left and right of the enemy’s pivot envelope.  Then, without warning, Thaan pivoted up, vectored slightly down, hit the fire select switch, and let off four quad bursts into Kaph 3’s shields.  He then buzzed over his opponent at a tremendous speed.  It all happened in only 28 seconds.

Kaph Leader checked his displays, Ph’rranix’s shields were down and he had some nasty hull damage, but he was still in the fight.  He now had a second red blimp on his radar.

“Don’t teach ya that kind of handling in the academy,” bragged Sion.

Such rapid pivoting at high speed was hard to do since the compensation jerks had to be perfect or you’d go flying off in some direction you didn’t want to go.  He spent many hours in the simulators honing that skill.

[That wasn't a verry smarrt movem] the Wookie thought to himself. Kaph 3 accelerated as best he could to gain some ground on his attacker. Kaph leader and his new pilot cut hard to the right at the exact moment, however, Thaan's excessive speed allowed Ph'rranix to make a tighter radius thus bringing the pilot within firing range again. He opened fire on Kaph 1, narrowly missing the left wing. The squad commander rolled to the left as Ph'rranix fired again causing another miss. A few seconds later Rocketman sreamed over Ph'rranix's TIE. Kaph Leader rolled around to begin chasing his other, slightly more cocky recruit.

"School's in session boys. Watch and learn." Thaan equalled out his shields and accelerated, leaving Ph'rranix with nothing more than exhaust fumes to fire at.

A few heartbeats took place before Thaan had Rocket in range. The target reticle turned red. Kaph 1 fired the quad lasers scoring a direct hit on the right bottom corner of Kaph 4's wing on his TIE Interceptor.

During this hasty little conflict going on between the other two members. Ph'rranix managed to regain some sheilding and sneak up on Than Sion. Atleast he hoped to have snuck up. His sensor turned red and just as he fired, Kaph leader dropped toward the atmospere leaving the firefight completely unscathed.

[Damn, I thought I had you.] Ph'rranix roared in an obviously furious tone.

"It's gonna take more than that to bring me down kids," replied the confident squad leader.

Ph'rranix said in a text message to his wingman.

The simulation had begun; C-3PX2 and his Computer Wingman Snake were now ready to go up against the enemy fighters. The combat situation was simple to comprehend, Two Imperial Standard TIE Fighter Craft against Six Incom Z-95 Headhunter Fighter Craft.

“Scanning Area, East.” Snake Said.

“Copy; Scanning Area, West.” C-3PX2 Replied.

The two of them had decided it would be best to scan around, as to be surrounded without knowing it. The Enemy fighters were hiding somewhere out there, most likely in the virtual cover.

“East Scan, Complete; No enemies within scan.” Snake said over comm.

“Copy; Keep an Open Eye. They might still be out there.” C-3PX2 responded.

“Affirmative.”

Simulator Room

The technician walked into the Simulator room, and over to a control panel. He decided to view what was going on in the simulators. He scanned through, and saw the three pilots in competition; he found it interesting, but changed the view over. Then he saw a droid, C-3PX2, sitting in the simulator flying a TIE Fighter Craft.

He pulled out his data pad and took a stylus. He then began to type on the data pad. He was recording what C-3PX2 did in the simulation, but after about a minute stopped typing and put the data pad away. He then took a data chip, and set it in an Envelope.

After doing which, he looked around, and then typed code into the control panel. He slightly Modified C-3PX2’s simulation, adding a time limit onto the simulation.

Meanwhile in the simulation

“West Scan, Complete; Nothing showing on scanners.” C-3PX2 reported.

“Affirmative.” Snake Reported.

C-3PX2 sat in the simulator, and then noticed a time on the screen. He did not understand why it was there, but he knew what it was.

What the how did he get behind me so fast, this is what I get from running my big month great know if I am the first one to get knocked out than I am going to be hearing it from my wing mate for a long time. I wonder what my wingmate is doing right now, get back in focus think okay find your target, and start to attack it.

Rocket get his, but he quickly sees if there is any damage to anything, he finds out that it just got past the shields but did not cause any damage.

Well I know one thing I am gonna take at least one of them before I go. Wait that’s it teamwork alone we would not be able to take him out, but if I can get Stormz to do a temp alliance so we can take down the commander than we might be able to take him out before he takes us out. Now all I have to do is convince Stormz to join up with me and then we can take out the commander. I just hope Stormz likes my idea.

Rocket performs all of the dodging procedures that he can so he can’t be taken out before he can at least try to get Stormz to help him out. Rocket opens up a private channel to Stormz.

“Hey wingmate I got an idea if we team up than maybe we can take him out as in a temporary alliance.”
“So what do you say?”
