It was a warm, muggy morning on Tadath.  The suns were above the horizon a good clip, and the heat was beating down hard for a winter morning.  For some reason the weather was not constant on this planet at all.

Mako sat outside the simulator smoking an Imperial Lung Blaster and waiting on his new Drill Squad to show.  He looked at his datapad to see what time it was.  Still about fifteen minutes left before they would arrive.

Just enough time left to program the armor inventory and weapons into the prep chamber of the simulator.  He had set quite a scenario into the system for the new troops.  He had also set plenty of alternative scenarios to control the difficulty if things got hairy. 

There were a few advantages to using a simulator as opposed to a real mission.  If things went wrong in a simulator, Mako could freeze time to give feedback, unlike the outside world, which slowed for nothing and no one.

The simulator also provides localized pressure in the suits to let the troops know when they brush against something, or get hit, but will not actually hurt anyone.  This is handy for getting a real feel about the environment as a tangible thing.  If a trooper injures a limb in the simulator, the armor will seize up and immobilize the joint, effectively simulating an injured part without causing real pain.

“I can’t wait to see what this squad can do,” Mako thought.  This was his first mission as a Drill Instructor, and it would be a learning experience for him as well as the troops he was in charge of training.

“A full compliment of troopers is in my hands,” Mako thought. "I had better get them ready for the VE."  He went over the list in his head: Archer, StormTrooper72, Fafrd, Reececr, TheMaad1, NightEyes, and JawaHunter.

This was going to be a lot of fun.  He just hoped that he could guage their level of experience properly.

The troops all arrived at the simulator within the next few minutes, and Mako started the briefing.

Alright guys:  I know that this is not a regular post.  I want to break this story into stages.  As we get in there and it looks like everyone is ready, i will step the posts up, but I don't want to leave anyone behind if they need help.

At this point, I expect you all to make a post of your arrival.  You may want to start somewhere with whatever you were doing before the meeting time. 

A few ideas that you can try if you need help: start at the HellGate Barracks, talk about what types of things your character is expecting to happen, get your gear together (all you have is a uniform and datapad), or maybe talk about how you have interacted with the others so far. 

These are just ideas to try.  You have free reign here.  Just make sure that you get to the barracks and try to write as if you were reading in a book.

It felt great at the HellGate Barracks for the Training. It is also our first day in training. I applied most of my Gleen! polish and my armor show itself! I looked around and there are people from other races also in my squad.

            We are marched to our simulated training environment sector in tadath for training!! with proper enthusiasm we are ready!!

            And our training got started!!

Mako stood milling about as he waited on the new troops.  A young woman walked up with short brown hair pulled back into a ponytail.  Her uniform was crisp and clean, despite a few loose chunks from her short hair.

"Howdy.  I am Mako Sanguin, your D.I."

Howdy.  What am I..a Cowboy?...

"Hello." She said.  "Private Valmet, reporting."

Man... She is pretty.  You need to get used to working with females, Mako man.  You are getting all intimidated.  Don't stutter.

"Welcome to the training...uh...thing.  The simulator.  What kind of mission do you want to do?"

She looked at him a bit oddly at this.

"Just want to shoot people, go through training, get out there into the ranks."

My kind of lady.

Mako tried to look in control.  Putting a stern face on and not looking directly into her eyes.  Those big, beautiful eyes.

Jeez!  Snap out of it.  She has you in some spell.  Can't think about the new recruits that way.  Get off of it, Mako man.

"Understood.  Get suited up.  Your armor has 18 pieces and you will be using an E-11.  The simulator can replicate another weapon for you if you have any preferences.  Anything available in the ICS."

That was formal.

"Yes, Sir"

That didn't go too badly., Mako thought.

As i left the barracks on my way to the simulator i decided to have a little fun. So instead of approaching the simulator head on i snuck up on it and as i got there i saw a female talking to a male.

Her name was velma or something like that. She was a member of my new squad reporting for our mission. The male was Mako, our commanding officer. I thought to myself if he's going to stare at her the whole time we're all going to get killed.

I step into view.

Hello sir. Private Sabersong Reporting for duty.

Hello private.
Suprisingly, his face remained calm, as if he knew i was there the whole time. But i know he didn't, did he?

I await your commands sir.

We're still waiting on a couple of your squad members then we can get started.

Yes sir.
