In order to apply for membership in the Vast Empire's Dark Jedi Order, an applicant needs to meet, at minimum, the following requirements:

1) At least 6 months of consecutive active membership in a division.
2) Have a letter of recommendation from at least two people above you in the chain of command, preferably your immediate unit commander and either a wing/platoon commander or a member of your division's HC (Navy members note, I will not give referrals in order to avoid bias).
3) A roughly one-page writing sample. This can be in the form of either a link to a topic in which you have heavily participated or a completely independent writing sample, we don't have a preference. We just want some easy way of taking a look at something you've done.

It may take us a few days to take a look at each applicant (especially since we're anticipating quite a few for the next few weeks). It will take time to read over and evaluate writing samples and to make decisions on who we accept or reject. Keep in mind that, if you are rejected, you may reapply after a two month period, but we will likely have expected you to improve in some respect (which we may or may not tell you).

Does leave count as breaking that active member chain? For example, I just got back from a two week vacation, do I have to start fresh?

Angel is correct. Simple leave doesn't count against you, that would be unreasonable. Periods of time spent either AWOL, in the reserves, or retired would.

I think your'e LOR is the only thing that could count.
DJO looks for consistent activity and good writing skills. Well those are two of the things they look at when reviewing your application.

I have another one though, and I figured make one post instead of two.  Does being in the DJO allow you to write about the Force?  Or is writing about the Force unrestricted?  I thought in this era we thought it was a myth (us soldiers and common folk)

People think it's some hokey religion or myth, yes. It doesn't become clear that it is real until someone from the Dark Council inducts you.
