Alright, so in my browsing of the Wiki pages and making changes and adding some (in etan's case), I came across something that distressed me and concerned me: age advancement on VE.
Sorry, Than, but I must use you as an example. Than's wiki page says that he is 18 years of age, yet he has achieved the rank of Ensign after being a member of the VEN for a bit over a year.
So, how would we advance ages in the VE? -----------------------

We need to set ages as DOB's instead. and set those in relation to the battle of yavin. I believe Raigen was born 9BBY making him 18. -----------------------

It's not really a set-in-stone thing. You look at the stories your character has been in and guess time spent in that. I've been here for almost two years and my character is still the same age. -----------------------

This was posted by Fury a while back on 14 Nov 2005. He places us at 9ABY. That means you should all take your character's age and figure out the birth date accordingly. I don't know if they use months in the SW universe. -----------------------

Im just upgrading my characters age as I age. probably the youngest sergeant ever  (most likely not) -----------------------

I arbitrarily added about 15 years of age to my character at one point (when I suddenly jumped up to an NHC position) because it just didn't make sense to me for someone so young to have so much authority. -----------------------

I can only recall adding two years to Shazam's age one time. I haven't had the opportunity to write with him recently, so keeping up to date on it hasn't been a primary, but for those active members who continue to post- use your best judgment. The change Japheth made to his is an excellent example of how years affect a members placement in the Imperial Navy. Art is another good example though- he put stress on the fact that his character was very old for being a fighter pilot- it's part of what made him unique within a squadron and further motivated his character to move up in the galaxy. -----------------------
