Sorry everyone, I'm the last person that would post a new subject on the Main Navy, but I felt it important.
I have counted twenty new recruits since February and only less than a hand full remain. And those few seem shaky. Is there something we can do different?
If it might help, I will enlist myself as navy recruiter. In that duty,I will look for new recruits daily and cajole them into active service before Shazam gets his hands on them. Sorry Shaz, but, try as you might, you are still rather intimidating to me to this day. Never mind the new recruits.

Im most likely making a Navy character in the coming days/weeks. Things seem awfully slow on the Army side as of late, maybe working with both sides at once will keep me occupied.
EDIT: Ok, just a heads up to anyone that this might apply to. The newest recruit, Skar Darkanto is indeed me. Just though i better let everyone know, jsut in case it gets into someones heads hes someone pretending to be. Not quite sure why anyone would do that, but hell, warned you anyways.

Cool. We have some things planned for summer and I was gonna ask you why you weren't in the Navy anyways. And, yeah Sol, I like Shazam too just the way he is. But for some he might be intimidating is all I'm saying.
I feel like I am a people person, and feel like I can maybe make new recruits feel a little more comfortable. You know, kinda good cop-bad cop sorta deal. I don't know maybe I'm wrong. I just see so many new recruits come and go and wonder why and if there isn't something we can do different? -----------------------

In all honesty, Shaz's system is supposed to be intimidating. It's common knowledge that the navy expects more than the army (ok, well, when it comes to post length and whatnot) and Shaz's system really helps weed out the people who are able to put up with those expectations. A survival of the fittest, if you will.
And Shazam intimidating? Pfftt. If anything, he's too soft.

Actually, I think we do need some incentives for staying longer than two months. Too many recruits never finish their first story. -----------------------

My job as trainer does not simply start with the joining of a member and end with their entry into a squadron. I stress that the academy's involvement in every character's and member's development is career long and critical for higher status. If you wonder why you haven't moved up after all those months of hard work- take a look at our exams and different training sessions- we have numerous ways for one to climb the ladder.
As for the training and recruiting process- I prepare people and hope that our commander's will be able to ensure their safe passage into a meaningful career here. I'll do my best to get people excited about this place, but there's plenty more to it than a pat on the back from the TO. Hopefully, with the innovations currently under way, we'll be able to make stories more oriented toward new recruits, giving them control and putting them in more compatible situations so they won't fear the pressure or insecurity that you've pointed out. Go out- recruit! No one says you shouldn't, but helping people here is the first step to member growth and stability. Simply talking to these people, getting them interested in what it is they can do- it really doesn't take a whole lot. Hopefully you folks will be able to continue putting up supports for these new recruits- I'm glad to see so many people taking it upon themselves to get things done. Keep up the good work, people. -----------------------

And yes, I agree that it is not solely on you Shaz to keep people here. That is why I have taken it upon myself to personally greet each new recruit if and when I can.
You saw how I tried to talk to Dresh even though he was a Drakin recruit. I didn't know that at the time, but I agree with what you are saying, and that is, that it is all our responsibility to keep a new recruit here. I personally, am going to do my best.
However, I do have one beef, and that is why do you continually fill the Nazgul Squadron first and the Kaph squadron second or not at all.
The Nazgul have one current empty space compared to our four/five. And you fill their empty slot with ? next, while we remain empty.
I'm not bitching, mind you. I can fill a whole squadron with NPC's and fly circles around, well maybe just myself. It just doesn't seem fair sometimes... -----------------------
