With the ESC over I am undetaking a few Wiki projects to create an archive and resource of relevant navy information. My two current projects are the following:
1. Chronicle all Navy stories
2. Upload detailed pilot records
With the second one I am offering a little monetary reward out of my own pocket. For every pilot that joined before January 1st, 2006, if you send me your complete record with dates of all promotions, position changes, medals, etc. then I will pay you 25,000ics. Each person who does this will greatly speed up this process.
On another note, any active member who joined before the period of manditory biographies and has not written one could you please write one when you get a chance. -----------------------

The wiki offers a great chance to keep a record of medal and promotion histories without any actual database. To that end, some sort of template should probably be created to handle that. I may work on that one next week or something after my classes for the summer are over and I have some more free time to fiddle with wikis. My general idea here is that if we're going to record that sort of thing within the wiki, it needs to be somehow standardized. I just don't know if wiki templates are expandable like that (ie: able to hold varying amounts of tabular data). I'd just hafta take a look at all the help docs I guess. -----------------------

I completely agree. Fury has a basic army template for stories. I was going to use that and adapt it by adding in a couple of things and then use that template. For pilot records we'll need a new template; maybe you want to work on that while I work on the story one? -----------------------

Works fine for me. Again, I can't really get to it until at least next Tuesday though. I've got a final tomorrow (Friday) and another Monday. After that I get my -three whole weeks- of summer break. Yay! -----------------------

Pilot records seems to be a big thing around here. The new people should be able to get their information on who is here and what they have done.
Also, I think that we should re-vamp the training situation. Art and I were talking about it the other day on the internet, Art, you remember what you wrote down? Because that was some good stuff, so go ahead and tell Japheth what we had.
Its just a way to make it simpler, but yet, get through to the pilots more and make it a quicker process and make them want to stay. I don't remember the extent to all of it, but good deal. -----------------------

Signatures are the only way I was able to trace mine. Remember that comnet has not always recorded rank at the time the post was made, for a long time it simply displayed whatever rank you were at present, even if the post was old. Thus for some of us, like me, even my first post ever lists me as a Vice Admiral or something in the info box on the left.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to track down all of my promotions...tis not that hard to search around the comnet for a couple of minutes.
But, I've got one problem. My character isn't even in the VE Wiki. I looked under Naval Members, its not even in there. I'm thinking of making a small Aegis Page on there too. -----------------------

Good start, still missing some things. No end of training date, =A= mention, and missing dates for promotions and medals. Nevertheless, this is exactly the information I'm looking for so I hope people use that as a reference for what I want. -----------------------

One of the pages listed something about a Fleet Medal board. We've never had one of those, but I thought it was a neat idea, so I made one on the wiki. I got a few of the awards from general recent posts, but you should all feel free to add yours to the lists. Just observe the same sort of formatting thats already in place.
