Waiting Period

I had a question, which keeps bugging me. I have been in and out of the VE for a while and I think my full service time gained reflects more than the set time by the DJO, cause I had almost a year here I think. In my situation I have just been gone to long and my old profiles were deleted. I could say the names and a lot of old school members are saying "Yeah I remember you." etc, but I have no physical evidence that I have spent 6 months here.

So just thought I'd ask if the built up time would allow me application rights, or if I had to restart all togeather again.

Andrew, to put it in my explanation, I dont think the DJO would allow someone whos been in and out of the VE as you say you have.

I can understand that you have been building up experience in the VE but DJO members are dedicated and even though they have lives of their own (Wife, children, jobs, ect) they still make that small amout of time to put into the VE to make it enjoyable for everyone else.

So my opinion is, no, you would have to start over. Sorry.

I would have to disagree with your KnightWind. Just because someone is unable to chit chat on IRC daily, and stick around for terms longer than seven to eight months does not actually determine their skill as a writer or their dedication as a member. If the DJO chose its member solely on who has been here longest at lengths of time, I think the roster would be even thiner than it is now.

To answer the question, this has been a compilation of time gathered from 99-05. Names used were Jazon Neal, Shawn Tylers, and Substance Ecs Zer0. However each time was required that I create a new profile due to them deleting my old ones, hence why I am currently once again having to generate a new charactor.

Anyway I was told to give it an additional four months last night

and then see. Which I respect that a period of activness is required to join, but it would be nice to find some proof that I have done the requirements, but this'll have to do.

Well I did not say that activity alone would meet the DJOs requirements, one of the most important things about the VE is writing ability and overall it is their choice.

The DJO does not determine membership simply based on the length of time you have been here. That is certainly an aspect, but overall writing skill, and a capacity to evolve that writing skill are generally considered to be more important.

If you have been in and out of the VE a number of times, it will be extremely difficult for Japh and other members of the order to track your writing progress. Also, with such short periods of time available for character development, I doubt you have been able to progress far with your writing style. As such, you haven't really shown your full potential as a writer.

I don't speak for the DJO, but I suggest you pick a character and stay with them. Keep on participating, but in particular, look at showing off your capacity as a writer in squad stories, specialty stories and personal stories that you can post up for comment.

That's the best way to get noticed
