Back when I joined the DJO, it wasn't hard at all. It used to be an option you could literally "check off" to join on the Join Form before we decided to make it explicitly for exceptionally-good writers only. -----------------------

Anakin didn't come before Kadann. He joined a little after me. He joined the DJO as Tylen. Kadann was one of the founders of the VE and the DJO, so there really is no "before Kadann."  -----------------------

Having 'awesome' writing skills involves actively using your spellchecker and making sure things are spelled right, esspecially easy words like 'awesome'.
Additionally, in order to apply to the DJO, you must obtain recommendations from those above you in the chain of command, notably your squad(ron) leader and preferably also your platoon or wing leader and perhaps your division leader (that last one is mostly for Army kids though, as one of the people that reviews DJO applications, I refuse to give recommendations in general in order to keep myself impartial). -----------------------
