"Gentlemen, As you all know, quite recently in our mission to Bokura, we were ambushed at the last part of the mission. We lost two capital ships, over two squadrons of Interceptors, and countless lives of good people who served the Empire to their death with all of their heart." Will began as he stepped up to the podium and started briefing the rest of his squadron of the up coming mission. "But of the two capital ships that we lost, one was captured and put to the use of the New Republic. Phalanx has recently been sighted, and reported of being used to disrupt trade routes along with an Interdictor cruiser. They're also using the Ties that were aboard the Phalanx when it was captured, one of them, is my Avenger. We can't just sit here while our own ships are being used against us, not while we can do something about it. We're going to get it back."

Cheers and applause went through the seven Kaph members.

Will lifted a palm to calm them, then continued, "This will be our next mission. The most recent reports say that both ships were involved in a small battle where two Imperial freighters were captured. The report said that among the enemy Ties, most were Interceptors and one Avenger. They have been sighted along the Corellian Trade Spine in the Mid Rim. Steel Talon will bring us to the site. we will then launch from it. You will be flying tow different kinds of fighters of your choice, the Preybird Attack Starfighter, and the Razor Fighter. I'll be in an Aggressor Assault Fighter. All three are equipped with hyperdrives, missile launchers, and ion cannons. If anything happens, and that you're left with no choice but to either eject or jump to hyperspace, you will hop to the nearby system of Endor, then Firrerre, then finally Riflor. If you can
repair the damage, repair, then trace your steps back to the battleground. The hops makes it harder for the NR forces to follow you. You know what to do with your fighters, take out the shields with missiles, then use ion cannon s to take out the ship. Expect to be out numbered, expect to be out fired, skill will be our only advantage on this mission. Go to the hanger, pick your fighters. We're moving to Steel Talon in three hours. Good luck."

Once in the hanger, Will walked directly over to a rather aged technician who was working on his Aggressor Assault Fighter. "How's things coming along?" Will too the moment to look over the handiworks, he was pleased, which did much to increase his mood. The hull was gleaming from polish, the new paint job that had been applied earlier was almost dry, blood red stripes ran down the sides on a black background with gray linings. On the outside sides of the center pieces were two Kaph Insignias. The big ship was a V-shaped fighter with the front open and the back connected, it also had two wing pieces what looked more like crab legs than wings. The craft sported a short range hyperdrive and a normal long-range hyperdrive. It also has two laser cannons, one ion cannon, and two tractor beams, one of the major reasons Will picked it to be his fighter.

"It's quite a beauty. All these years I've serviced fighters, I've never seen anything like it. The cargo space alone is enough to store seven tons of material. It is a powerful single sublight drive to be able to lift this much mass and still fly at decent speed." The tech said with a wide smile. "Oh, don't worry, my team have triple checked everything, It's working in perfect condition."

"Thank you sir. Have any of your men taken a look at all the other fighters the rest of my squadron will be flying?"

"Yes, all of them are almost brand-new, fresh out of the factories they seemed."

"Very well. Now, if you don't mind, get it ready for flight in ten minutes, I'll be back in ten minutes to take it for a preflight to familiarize myself to the controls."

Demonic adjusted the controls of his Preybird, absorbing himself in the work so much that he didn't notice the technician trying to get his attention.
"Needs some new wires here..." He muttered to himself, taking some out of his kit and cutting it to a specific length and detaching the old wires.
Suddenly he felt something hit his shoulder. The technician had thrown her datapad at him.
"Sorry, did you want something?" He asked, not even turning to face her.
"Damn right I want something! what are you doing in that preybird?"
He started to put in the new wiring. "Fixing the controls." He muttered. He heard the sound of climbing as the technician clambered up the ladder to the cockpit.
"There is nothing wrong with those controls! I checked them just this morning!" the woman said. He finally, for the first time, turned to face her. She was a pretty girl, around his age, with long, dark hair. She wore the outfit of a technician trainee.
"The wiring here is bad, the control probably would have ended up failing." He said, taking out the old wires and showing her. She looked rather embarrassed. He started to put in new wires.
"Well... Okay... But who are you anyways?" She asked.
"Senior Kal, a flight leader in Kaph Squadron." He said, putting away some extra wire.
The girl sighed. "Great, first I sleep in and miss the technician meeting, then I yell at a Pilot for fixing a problem that would have probably gotten him killed."
"What a great day..." He said, grinning.
She scowled for a moment, then laughed. "Oh well, I suppose I've had worse. I'm Lori, I'm training here as a hangar technician." She offered her hand and he shook it.
"Well, anyways, I have to go check on some of the bombers. See you around!" She climbed down the ladder and walked away.

Than Sion was only beginning his inspection of his Preybird when he noticed Demonic talking to an attractive, young, female mechanic.  He couldn't hear what they where saying, but the tone was too obvious.  This ought to be good, Than Sion thought to himself as he removed the display panel.  When the mechanic finally left, Sion walked over to Demonic's ship.

"Wow, she must be something if you're paying more attention to her than your precious ship," said Sion in an amused tone.

Demonic punched him in the arm.  "Shut up, we were just talking about the ship's wiring that is all."

"Right, and you probably don't even know her name either," said Than Sion sarcastically.

"It's Lori," Demonic let slip.  "Well at least I can get girls."

"Now where did you get the idea I can't?" Sion said in a humorous voice, they were both well aware that he never had a girl friend in his life.

Demonic chuckled, "well I have to get back to working on my "precious" ship."

"I guess I have to get back to work on mine to," said Sion, already walking back to his own Preybird.

Russell walked onto the flight deck the smell of new ships filled the air, technicians were running everywhere trying to make the ships combat ready.  Russell started the long walk to his newly purchased Aggressor Srarfighter along the way he spotted a young female technician leaving Demonic Preybird. "Hey Demonic if you spent less time flirting with the technicians you would probably be a better pilot" said Russell chuckling as he passed.

"Finally something different to fly" thought Russell as he started to examine his new bird. "Its got new paint, all black just like you fly boys like," said the chief technician as he walked up to Russell.  The all black paint job made the Aggressor look ferocious and right under the cockpit the Kaph squadron logo and Kaph 7 gleamed in red. "She's ready to start pre flight when ever you're ready son don't break this on, ok" He turned and started to yell at another technician as he walked away.

The hatch door was opened it seemed to call to him; Russell walked in and started to marvel at his new craft.  The engine was massive and it had to be to move such a ship at the speed it did. Walking passed it Russell entered the cockpit and sat down; starting pre check he noticed Willcong was in the ship next to him. A tingle started to come over Russell as he laid his hands over the controls; this mission was going to be a good one.

Cheatle walked into the flight hanger taking in the smell of grease, and the carbon torches. "Always smells like back home, with uncle," said Cheatle as he began walking across the flight deck towards his new Preybird Mark I. His entire flight received new Preybirds for the up and coming mission to take the Phalanx back from the New Republic. Cheatle came up to the new Preybird and stopped then said, "This is such a beaut," as he looked over the ship he took his glove off, and ran his hand down the port side of his ship until he touched the bottom of the keel. "I think it should be a different color, but still," Cheatle said to himself as he started to check over the rest of his ship.

Cheatle went around the stern checking the new weapons that had just been installed on the Preybird. The Preybirds were of some-what new design, adding to their armament of laser cannons and concussion missiles were two ion cannons. The cannons were installed right underneath each wing of the port and starboard huddled right close to the hull, for aerodynamics of course. Cheatle took a step back and then took a deep breath, he was ready for this mission only his second since he was given the rank of Leading Crewman.

"Alright time to take a look at the interior controls," Cheatle blurted out, and then looked around as if embarrassed. With his cheeks a slight color of pink he approached his ship, hoping into the cockpit with a bit of vigor. "This is so great, the absolutely perfect controls for this mission," Cheatle spoke as he heard a voice come over his com. He then reached down and put his helmet on, and placed his glove back on his hand. He heard the officer up in the flight tower "this is control tower one, are you ready for pre-flight check?" Cheatle responded, "Control Tower One this is Kaph six ready when you are."
Cheatle then proceeded to check each system one by one; he was very thorough making sure he didn't miss anything. "Alright last thing Control Tower One, engines are a green and ready to go," Cheatle retorted, he looked through the interior once again and was filled with the utmost glee for he thought that this was a remarkable ship.

"Kaph Six this is Control Tower One you are ready to go when the mission commences," the officer said. Cheatle yet again checked his controls, trying to get used to the design for he was still a bit green. He wanted to be ready for when the time came he had to be on the alert, and ready to back his Flight. As he looked around he saw Demonic and Russell in their Preys, as well he radioed over to Demonic, "Kaph Six reporting in Sir."
Demonic responded "Good, we are still awaiting conformation just sit tight, and be ready, Flight leader out," as Demonic said this he waved over towards Cheatle. Cheatle then signaled back that he was ready. Again looking over the controls Cheatle sighed, "I am ready."

Demonic sat in the pilot's seat of his fighter, waiting for their arrival.
"Time until destination reached - ten minutes." A voice rang out over his fighter's communications. Then came Will's voice.
"Alright, since we're nearly there, it's about time for a little review of our objectives."
"We are attempting to recapture the Phalanx. You will use your missiles to bomb the ship until it's shields fail. Then, proceed to disable it using ion cannons. We'll then bring in a strike team to take control of the ship, while we maintain space superiority."
Nine minutes and thirty seconds later...
"We've arrived! Kaph squadron, your clear to proceed."
Demonic activated his fighters sublight, clearing a short distance off the hanger floor and turning towards the now opening blast doors. Looking to the sides of his fighter, he saw the others were doing the same. When they were oepn, and the safety shield was deactivated, he proceeded to raise the speed of the, grinning as the boom of his engines sounded out. The fighter picked up speed clearing the hanger...

*

"Alright, sound off fighters!" Willtconq said into the com.
"This is Kaph two, standing by." Reported Than sion.
"Kaph Three standing by..." and these reports continued down the line.
"Alright! All fighters, form up on your flights!" Will said, picking up speed.
Demonic did the same. "Okay guys, you heard him, lets make this fight good."
The phalanx was up ahead, along with a interdictor. A squadron of Ties moved to assault. Will's wasn't among them.
"They must not think that we pose a very great threat. Too bad for them."
"Alright Kal, start bombing that cruiser. We'll handle these." Said Will"
He turned his fighter to the right, passing the Ties. Clearly they weren't about to let them get away with this, for a flight of them changed course and opened fire at their backside.
"Alright, full speed, evasive action. I guess the upside to this is that the phalanx wont open fire on us until they have a clear shot, they wont want to hit their own. It should make our approach easier." He said. Suddenly, as they neared the phalanx, the cruiser opened fire.
"What!?" he said, truly surprised that they would do something so stupid. "Idiots." He laughed, as they shredded one of their own fighters with the fire.
"Hit them as you pass, then return to engage again!"
The cruiser lit up with fire as their missiles crashed into it's hull. Suddenly Demonic's short range sensors lit up.
"Dammit, this one's right on my tail!"
He pulled his fighter up and around, so that he faced the attacking Tie directly. It took only a few shots to blow it to pieces. He looked to see Cheatle doing the same. Russell on the other hand, was swerving around, making it hard to hit. He dived at the cruiser's hull, pulling up just at the last moment, causing the pursuing fighter to crash and burn up.
"Well, thats one way to do it." Demonic said, grinning. More fighters were rushing out of the hanger, while Will and his flight had defeated the fighters and were now moving to engage the cruiser also.
"This looks like it'll be fun." the flight leader muttered to himself, moving in for another assault...

Short post, but we're in combat now.

Pre-check done the engines started roaring to life, the scream outside began to become unbearable as the flight crews started to clear the deck.  Then the mechanical scream of the engine grinded to a halt "Darn it why does my stuff always break" as Russell started his way out of his smoking ship to find the deck chief. The deck chief was running as fast as he could to confront Russell "Darn it Russell is you break one more of my ships you'll be in a spice mine eating." Russell turned away as he watched the squad leave the hanger.  One ship remained in the hanger a Praybird it wasn't a bad ship but it wasn't Russell's first chouse.  He didn't have time to run pre-checks, instead he just hammered the throttle and hauled out of there.

                                        * * * *

"Ha little bugger" Russell stated as the rebel tie fighter smashed into the shield.  Demonic came over the radio "nice move rookie, now blast that shield." Now the fun was about to begin Willcong voice roared onto the com "commence attack on the shied." Russell started to bring his ship around, the sweat was beading down his chin.  The adrenalin was pulsing through his vanes it was the only way he could get the rush.  Russell's fingers slid over the controls it seemed like time was standing still as he started to fire torpedoes.  "Torpedoes away now the fun begins" Russell said. "Now they'll take us seriously," Demonic said.  Russell began another attack run "I love my job."

The battle was starting to get good Willtconq was using his tractor beams to smash the rebel tie fighters together and Second Flight was in and out of formation ripping apart the enemy.  The enemy started out with the upper hand but was quickly loosing it the rebel pilots didn't know how to push the ties to there limits and potentials and were loosing numbers quick.  "We have the upper hand there retreating start taking out the shield," bellowed Willtconq on the radio. The order was short lived the retreating ties were replaced by X-wings and A-wings rocketing full throttle out from hyperspace. "Hey boys we have company" stated Russell "take out the rebels we'll get the shield later" ordered Willtconq.

New orders but the same objective achieve air superiority then attack and bring home or stolen vesicles.  Such simple orders are often times very difficult and strenuous to execute but the members of Kaph were always ready for a challenge and never questioned orders.  Russell's voice roared onto the COM "For the Empire" the squadron responded with cheers and brought their fighters around to demolish the new threat.

Russell loved this part of the mission the sweet running down his face the adrenaline flowing and serving the Empire; he loved his job with every breath he took.  His hands slowly started to grip the controls as his pointer finger feel onto the trigger, its home for the next few hours.  A quick and gentle squeeze that seemed so minute and insignificant caused a hellfire of red laser fire that ripped into the side of an X-wing.  The slight grim on Russell's face made it seem like he enjoyed killing.  The engines of the new ship seemed unwilling to fly full tilt but its unwieldiness was ignored by Russell as long as the lasers still fired he would make dew.

Demonic engaged his fighter in a barrel roll, attempting to avoid the blasts of the pursuing X-wing's cannons. Cutting his engines, he laughed as the fighter suddenly shot out in front of him. He quickly fired his laser cannons, knocking out the fighter's shields and taking out one of it's engines and a wing, sending the fighter spinning out of control. "That could be me one day." Demonic thought to himself grimly.
"A-Wing, right behind you!" Russell's voice sounded out over the fighter's communications. Demonic swore and quickly turned his fighter to the side, but it was too late - a fire was set on one of his praybird's wings.
"R2-N3, put that blaze out!" he said with a slight sense of urgency. The A-wing's fire was weak, but this pilot seemed to have a good aim. "Alright, lets see if you can keep up."
Demonic punched the engines, straining the ship as he hit it's maximum sublight. The fighter could only go about 100MGLT, and the A-wing could move faster, but it was enough to dodge the turret fire from the phalanx as he flew down beside the cruiser, the A-wing quickly pursuing. At the last moment he pulled up. The A-wing pilot didn't seem to anticipate this, crashing into the phalanx at high-speed, shattering the A-wing into shrapnel as it exploded against the ship's hull.
"Dammit Kal, don't damage that ship!"
Demonic sighed as he moved to engage an attacking X-wing.

"Alright, enough of these fighters have been destroyed, second flight, mop them up while we return to firing upon those shields." Will ordered over the com.
Hearing this, Demonic added, "Lets give them hell.", bringing his fighter around and opening fire at a Y-wing which was rushing Cheatle from behind, grinning as he sent it spiraling out of control. Russell disabled one with his Ion cannons, then ripped it to shreds anyways with his lasers. Suddenly Demonic's fighter shook. "What the hell was that..."
      It shook again.
Turning looking to his sensors. His eyes grew wide with alarm. Behind him was the Y-wing he thought he had destroyed, making badly aimed attempts to take him down with torpedoes. He noticed it wasn't gunning him with it's lasers, which had seemed to have been destroyed by his previously lethal thought assault.
Once more his fighter shook from the bombings, this time sending the fighter spinning out of control.
"Dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit..." He cursed, trying to right the fighter before he crashed into the phalanx. Just in time he managed to stabilize his fighter, brining it up, but still scraping the hull of the phalanx with a screech that hurt his ears. turning around, he fired directly at the cockpit of the bomber, causing it to burst into flames.
"That was too close." He said to himself, bringing his fighter over to make another assault on an enemy fighter.
"Your too late, we got the rest of 'em while you were spiraling." Russell said over the communications.
"Alright then, lets return to knocking out those shields!" Demonic ordered, turning his fighter again to make a run on the phalanx.

Seeing that he is one of the greatest threats, a whole flight of X-wings turned about and came after Will. Hmm, more preys, I see. Keeping calm and focused, Will juked his fighter as a wave of red laser flew past him on all sides. A few got close and left scorch marks where paint used to be. He looked about to see if anyone could give him a hand with these peckers, none were available, Than Sion had already been reported to be out of action; Sael was Garris's wing man; everyone else was busy over at the Phalanx. He was on his own.

He pulled up on the stick, and to the left at the same time to do a left barrel roll. Not knowing that he would not complete it, the X-wings completed the barrel roll and rightened their fighters in perfect formation. These guys should go work in a circus or something. Will thought to himself. While the X-wings were completeing their barrel roll, Will only did a half roll, once he was upside down, he pushed down on his stick untill he did a full outside-loop, and came right behind the four X-wings. "R4, See if you can do something with the G compensators, they almost killed me."

The little droid immediately replied through the screen, "Then don't do it again."

Will rolled his eyes, he hated droids with attitudes, especially now, during battle.

He flipped the switches and activated the tractor beams. Right when he was about to get locks on the fighters however, his fighter shook. "What the..." He didn't finish the sentence as he shifted in his seat to look out the view ports, lasers were firing up at him from directly below. He was already on top of the Interdictor, without realizing as he put so much thought on his survival from the X-wings.

Normally with the opposition of four enemy fighters and a capital ship, any fighter would try to veer away from the ship as quickly as possible. Not Will. Not while his tractor beams still worked.

******************************************************************************

"Red five, I've got a tractor beam on me!" Red seven said into his com. He looked around, there's no other capital ship near enough to put one on him except their own Interdictor. "You think that sucker down there wants us back on it?"

"No, whatever it is it's not coming from the Whirlpool. That cruiser of those Imps probably has some enhanced tractor beams. That looser on our back probably called it in to give him a hand." Their flight leader replied calmly. Suddenly, his fighter jerked too. "Damit!" He said loudly as both fighters lost speed and slow began decending on the Interdictor.

"we're moving aside to avoid the ship!" Red seven said. "Looks like they do want us back on it. They probably have a malfunction with their com." His tone was so convincing and full of sureness that no one in the flight even bothered to check with the Whirlpool.

"Alright begin docking procedures." Red five orderd as his fighterd slowly turned to face directly into the hanger. "repulsorlifts activated."

"Red flight two, what the hell do you think you're doing?!" Flight control officer from the hanger ordered.

"Flight control, this is Red five. We had two tractor beams on us, and it directed us here. So we assumed that you wanted us back in."

"Non sense! There was no such order. Return to battle. Flight control out."

"Negative. Negative. The beam... Hey!!!" The sentence was never finished as the two fighters suddenly increased speed and shot into the hanger, exploding as they impacted into the back bulkhead of the hanger.

*******************************************************************************

Will quickly turned his attention to the other two remaining X-wings and brought them to their ends as well. Huge explosions went through the hanger as more docked fighters and fuel reserve exploded. "Oops. Looks like we'll have to use the other hanger now."

"So Will, nice move, but dammit Will, don't damage that ship!'" Demonic said mockingly, laughing as he did.
Criticize me for damaging the hull a little, and this guy blows up one of the hangers! Heh, I wonder how much it'd cost to fix that... He thought to himself, bringing his fighter around to engage some Ties which managed to escape the blast. Quickly he dispatched one with his laser cannons, the unshielded fighter unable to defend itself against the deadly hail of energy. The other two fighters split, one spiraling off to the left and the other to the right.
"Cheatle, engage the other fighter," He said as he turned to take the right. "Russell, back up Will, he's a bit out numbered." He locked on to the enemy fighter and fired. The TIE span out of control, burning intensely and eventually exploding. Demonic grinned. "One more down..." He said to himself.
"Demonic, get over here!" Will sounded out over the com. Demonic turned to face their position.
Damn. Demonic thought. Will and Russell's ships were surrounded by TIEs, trying desperately to stay alive. Seeing that Cheatle had also dispatched his fighter, he was quick to give orders.
"Get over here, They're in trouble!"
As he rushed their position, he noted that Will's flight were also rushing to engage. He fired upon a set of three fighters, failing to destroy any but causing them to break off their assault all the same. One of the fighters met it's doom from Cheatle, the other two being shot down by Than Sion, who had now arrived with the rest of flight one. The other fighters on attack broke off to attempt to gain some distance.
"Flight one, form up on me, lets finish them off! Flight two, finish off those shields, they're near their limit!"

Demonic could hear Russell and Cheatles cheers as the latter disabled the shields of the phalanx.
"Alright Russell, here is your chance!"

Wrote during a class in school, not much time, so it was a short post.

Russell unloaded his full load of torpedoes at the shields the red steak of the propellant lit up space for they're the few extravagant moments of existence.  The radiant blast of reds, yellows and oranges reminded Russell of waking through gardens of his home world in his youth were bright radiant flowers painted a perfect order.  Now that his payloads of missiles were gone it was up for the rest of Kaph to take down the weakened shields.  As Russell pulled back on the throttle to scan for fighters a flash off green accompanied by a jarring jolt rattled the ship.  The rattle banged Russell's head against the cockpit controls a slow black out was overcoming him no matter how much he resisted it.  A fog seemed to engulf Russell as he woke up in a garden far away from the battle he was just fighting.

The fog was thick but was starting to become less as the minutes went on the soft wet ground let way to vast and beautiful landscape with gardens and rolling country side as far as the eye could see.  Russell started to walk down a coble stone path that seemed to move him itself like it was taking him some ware, like it was alive.  The path fallowed a hedge row about as tall as Russell it was green and in some spots covered in roses but the hole time traveling the path something seemed wrong like he should be somewhere else doing something else. Just at that moment he looked down and saw a small piece of paper it was rolled and had a ribbon around it as Russell bent down and picked it up the small piece of parchment smoothly unraveled itself in his hand.  The paper something so small in the vast and wonderful world of Russell's mind seamed to have no meaning until Russell read the words on it "People are counting on you, Remember" Just at that moment "Russell" then again but loader "Russell are you all right" Dominic's voice over the communicator jarred Russell to attention "I'm still hear just a little shuck up" Russell found himself flying the fighter on impulse alone he was very much still rattled from the jolt.  "Ok Russell you dumped you payload get back to the ship and prepare the transport" Willltconq's voice seemed more concerned with Russell's health then with getting the transporters out "and see a medic that's an order" "Yes sir" Russell replied as he started to make his way back towards the capital ship.

"Nothings never easy" thought Russell as he was trying to return to the ship two ties swung up on his tail laser fire was screaming by Russell could hear the sizzling of the paint.  So he tried an old trick, full reverse throttle joystick straightforward and just like that the two buggers were now in front.  Laser fire shortly ripped apart the shield less tie fighters but as Russell was finally making his final approach on the ship enemy blasters ripped open the back end of the praybird. Russell spiraled into a crowded flight deck technicians and mechanics were jumping out of the way of the many ton fighter.  "Fire teams to hanger one" the ship com officer ordered Russell pried opens the hated and crewed out battered and browsed. Medics were running to his location gear in hand Russell calmly walked over and took a seat on a cargo container to be examined and treated. The main medic had a thing or two to say about my crash landing and the states of my battered body as I sat there trying to gather myself.

"What the heck were you doing"?
"Crash landing, so get me patched up so I can get back out there"
"You have A concussion, cuts, broses and lord knows what else but ill patch you up as best I can I know how stubborn you fly boys are"
"Thanks chief"

Russell was now beginning to feel the straight of battle the stress was overwhelming but training keep him going and knowing that the rest of the squad was out there made him even more ready to get back into the fight.  Soon Russell would lead a group of commandos aboard an enemy occupied ship, heaven knows what's going to happen next.

Cheatle received a message from Willtconq, "Follow Russell back to the ship, he seems to be a little unnerved after his close call." Cheatle followed Russell closely until three fighters came towards their aft. Chealte broke off to get behind them, and Russell did a straightforward maneuver to try and get behind them without straying off-course. Cheatle destroyed one of the fighters in a blaze, while Russell got one of the others. The one to Russell's starboard spun around to his port laying into him with laser fire through his back wing, and destroying part of his engines. Cheatle came about and destroyed the fighter, while Russell made a crash landing in the hanger bay of the Steel Talon.

As Cheatle came into the hanger bay he saw where the ship had crashed, and left a trail of fire that some of the crew were putting out. Cheatle landed his ship, he got out, and started walking towards Russell who was sitting on some cargo with a medical technician fixing up his head. "Hey Russell you going to be alright?  we've got to get to the transport" Russell responded, "I will be," as he stood up the commander of the ground troops came to us "We are ready when you are the reports from the field are that the path has been cleared for us, so we need to head out," Cheatle retorted "Alright commander we will be there in two minutes we have to get into our uniforms." The commander saluted then Cheatle saluted back, he walked off.

Cheatle and Russell dressed into their personal armor that Willtconq gave them as a gift. Cheatle felt great in his new armor, it meshed really well with his skin, and he felt stronger. He walked over to the weapons and grabbed a pistol and a small laser rifle, he attached them to his armor holds and contacted Russell over his com-link "Russell meet you at the transport I will be there is thirty seconds." Cheatle walked up to the transport and entered he looked back into the hold he saw a platoon of commandos, and their commander. Cheatle took the co-pilot's seat, and waited for Russell.

After Russell arrived they started the pre-flight check, because they needed this transport to be in tip top shape. The Flight check was done, and they started the engines, Cheatle said over the com "Were ready flight lets get going," Flight responded "You're a go." Russell jolted the throttle, and the transport rose up. They started to go forward through the hanger doors. Willtconq came in over the com "Alright you two we are using our ion cannons to disable the Phalanx we need you to get over there fast and board her." Russell and Cheatle in sync said "Yes sir."

Than Sion's head was still throbbing as he made a barrel roll, avoiding turbo laser fire from the NR cruiser. What happened was, to put lightly, an embarrassment to his intelligence. He had been talking to one of the technicians, about the heavy laser cannon's cooling system, when his comlink sounded with the order to prepare for take off. The technician wasn't done talking, so Sion walked backwards to continue to listen. When the comlink chirped again for him to get a move on, he ran backwards. He turned going at a full run when he saw the hull of the Preybird and then just blackness. He woke up about twenty minutes later propped up against a crate with a headache and a medic bending over him. Apparently he had hit the Preybird hard with his head causing him to knock out. After a few quick tests, the medic decided that the injury didn't do any permanent damage to the brain and that he was actually fit to fly. So he put his helmet on, got into the Preybird, went through the preflight check list in hs head, and blasted out of the hanger on flight control's mark.

A lone A-Wing came after Than Sion's Preybird. Sion did a few basic swerving maneuvers, trying to get him off his tail. The A-Wing not only stayed behind him but some how gained ground. He pulled the Preybird into a sharp dive; the A-Wing stayed on him and opened fire. He began to fly around like poultry with its head cut off in another attempt to loose the lone enemy fighter, but it stayed tight on his six. This one is good, thought Sion. But he is all alone.

"Kaph 5 sir," said Sion into his helmet microphone, "I have an A-Wing hot on my tail, can you offer me assistance?"

He felt his Preybird shake, the A-Wing got off a few shots that the shield luckily absorbed. This guy is starting to make me nervous, thought Sion.

"Affirmative Kaph 2," said Demonic.

With that, Demonic swooped in and pounded the preoccupied enemy with laser fire. The A-Wing only took a few shots before it was scrap floating in space.

"Thanks Kaph 5," Said Sion.

"Fighters, begin assault on the Phalanx with your ion cannons," came Willtconq's voice over the radio waves, "remember not to use any other weapons on the Phalanx, we want it back in one piece."

"Ok lets run through the pre-check again I feel like somethings wrong," stated Russell as he expressed his concerns to Cheatle.

"Starting form the top, ok if you say," Cheatle started the check again when smoke started to pore out of the controls.

"Ha I knew it darn ship time to get out" Russell turned to the commandos in the back "time to get out report to the briefing room" Russell turned to Cheatle "Now we'll have proper time to brief the crew"

"Got ya I just wanted to get back into the fight" Cheatle stated as he started to walk toward the back of the ship "I'll keep that in mind Ill meet you in the debrief room"

The battle still roared as Russell walked into the debrief room. The small room had rows of chairs full of commandos now with out there helmets on; a large display screen was displayed in the front of the room.

Upon entering the room all the men stood Russell commanded "as you wear, I'm one of the pilots on the raid lets get our plan ironed out so we can get back into the fight." The viewer screen came to life showing the current battle "This is are current location we will be traveling through space to the enemy captured ship the Phalanx, enemy strength is unknown, Commander Alton please elaborate"

Russell stepped aside as a stocky commando took his place "thank you Russell, ok men the pilots will land us on the Phalanx from there we'll work or way to the command deck clearing the decks of the rebel scum, death is the price for resisting the empire."

Cheers filled the room, Russell stood and regained control.  Russell's AV-1S SCOUT ARMOR comlink was patched into the battle which was still moving forward at full tilt

"Russell hold out on the transport more enemy fighters..." Wiltconq's comlink sputtered out.

"Ok men stay ready" Russell said with a strong voice.

Commander Alton states strongly "dismissed" the men started to file out of the room.

Two members remained in the room Russell and Cheatle the room was eerily silent Cheatle was standing in the back Russell was now sitting holding his head. Still a little tore up from the crash landing Russell was in quite a bit of pain the medics meds had a few more minutes before they would start to kick in.  "Russell how's it going" Cheatle sat down next to Russell

"Ill be fine, good enough to kill some rebels" Russell stated as he chuckled "ok let's go and check out the hanger bay and check out how the mechanics are doing."

The two left together and walk silently down the corridors to the hanger deck, which was beaming with activity. The two pilots walked slowly through the hanger bay personal were running everywhere and the two pilots seemed to be moving in slow motion. The two pilots were more used to piloting fighters then transports but the mission called for it. They were ready to do anything for the empire, even die for it.

Russell took a knee next to the ship and looks up at Cheatle "This is going to be the toughest thing we've ever done, were being trusted with lives just not or own"

Cheatle shuck his head "I know, I know" he said as he started to examine the outside of the ship. Russell followed doubled checking his work; his fingers smoothly ran the length of the ship. The metallic coldness made Russell's skin tingle like it knew the next part of the mission was going to start.

"Ok outside checks out lets run the inside" Russell stated as he started to walk inside the transport. The inside was repaired the mechanics thought they might lighten the mood by adding an air freshener. "Nice you got to love those mechanics" Russell said as Cheatle sat down in the co-pilot seat "beginning check.... systems check out, now we wait."

The two pilots now sat on the flight deck awaiting orders from Willtconq to begin the next part of the mission.

"Okay." Said Will. "We need to ionize the phalanx up a bit to make it easier for them to board. Kal, since your flight members are piloting the ship, you'll join up Flight 1."

"Roger that Will." demonic said, readying his Ion cannons.

"Okay guys, form up on me and avoid those turrets. Break off the assault if they start getting too accurate." Will said, increasing speed and turning to rush the phalanx, the others following him. Demonic brought his fighter to 100MGLT, taking aim at a turret based  on  the top. All at once fire broke out between the two sides, laser and ion cannons filling the area with fire. "Alright you guys, on my order, break off the assault.

"MY shields are failing!" said Than. Demonic looked at his indicator, noticing the same. The pilots were doing a good job at evasion, but even so they were taking too much fire to last much longer.

"Just hold on, and keep firing..." Will said, a bit of worriedness in his own voice. "Alright, break off assault! Reform on me when your out of range of those turrets. We'll let our shields regenerate, then take another go at it."

"Got it." Demonic said, pulling up and spiraling to avoid the fire. "This fighter is so slow..." He muttered. He was used to at least 130MGLT, and to top it off, the handling on the fighter, although he had adjusted it, wasn't that great either. He watched his shields slowly regenerate. "R2, any damage?" He asked his astromech droid casually. After a half a second, the droids responce flashed over the display "Hey, I know that we took a good bit of fire, but orders are orders R2."

"Alright, you guys ready to take another go at it?" Will asked as they formed up on him.

"Yeah, but my astromech says that I've sustained some damage to the hull, nothing serious."

"Alright then, lets go." Will said, speeding up and taking another run. They sped towards the cruiser, opening fire once more. Demonic took a hit to his shields, his fighter suddenly spinning out of control.

"R2, what the hell is going on!" He said urgently, trying to stabalize his fighter. After a few moments. "What do you mean we sustained more damage to the hull, our shields are still functional!" He finally got his fighter under control. Looking through his cockpit window, he saw a small fire on the side of his ship. "What the hell..." suddenly his astromech sent a wave of information at him. "It overheated? Damn this fighter. Put that out, and get it fixed!"

"You okay there?" Will asked over the communications.

"Yeah, just some fighter troubles. How'd the run go?"

"The Phalanx's defences are mostly ionized, its probably about time we call out Russell and Cheatle."

Will pulled up hard on the stick as three laser bolts sizzled through the space he had been occupying just a second ago. He almost regretted that they had to disable part of such a nice ship. "Alright Kaphs, come around for another run at it." Will ordered. coming around to face the ship again in a nice smooth arc. firing at an x-wing as it passed by briefly, heading for the Whirlpool. Will's shots hit the fighter as a small fire erupted on its top port side wing.

"Will, you want me to take care of that piece of crap?" Demonic offered.

"Nah, it's pretty much useless now anyways." Will replied not paying much attention to the x-wing anymore. "Concentrate on the Phalanx."

As they reached firing range of the ship, Will headed for the rear end of the ship, locked onto the engines, and pressed the "fire" button. blue streaks of energy spilled from the ship and stuck the engine areas, spreading out as electric currents fried the systems near the hull. One of the gun turrets exploded, probably due to some malfunction, and the bright light from the engine exhaust dimmed just enough to be noticed.

Suddenly his ship jolted. Will turned to see how bad the damage was. Instead, he found an x-wing close on his tail, with smoke pouring out the port wing.

"Damn!" Will cursed at himself for being so reckless. His ship shook again as another shot hit him. "I've lost lateral control!" Will yelled through the com. "Executing repair procedure."

"Ten-four. Kaph Leader." Than Sion said as he brought his fighter around and quickly cleared the x-wing.

Will pushed his throttle to maximum, "R4, calculate the closest jump point."

"The closest one is about a click away, the gravity well on the Interdictor is still functional."

"I don't care if it's functional or not!" Will yelled at the droid. "Just get us out of here as soon as possible or we'll both end up dead!"

The droid make a whistling noise that sounded like mocking Will, but complied to the order.

********************************************************

Leaving the hyperspace behind, Will emerged as his ship entered the Riflor system. He landed on an uninhabited strip of land, checked the system boards, most systems are down to 60%, and climbed out. Will pulled out the repair kits and got to work. He poked around in the back of the ship, replacing fried wires, and doing as much as he can to help while his R4 did most of the repairs.

Than Sion watched Willtconq's Preybird make the jump into hyperspace. Sion knew he wouldn't make it far for the Interdictory Cruiser's gravity well projectors wouldn't allow him to jump very far. Demonic's voice came over the radio.

"This is Kaph 5; I am in need of assist. I am having some problems with the NR TIE's."

"Kaph 2 to Kaph 5, I have received your message and am coming to assist."

Demonic had four NR TIE's harassing him as Than Sion came in for the attack. Sion took them by surprise, taking one out with a single shot. The remaining TIE's now knew that he was there and went into evasive. Demonic took out a second easily in the confusion. One of the speedy TIE's got behind him, firing at Sion's six. All part of the plan, thought Than Sion. The New Republic pilot obviously wasn't used to the TIE's targeting computer for it almost seemed like he was making pot shot.

The pilot was focusing so much on trying to get a shot off on the Preybird that he didn't notice another coming from behind.

"Blue four, you have one on your tail," said the leader of the NR TIE flight.

"What... ahhhhh?"

Too late, his fellow TIE's pilot went up in a ball of flames. It was only him now. Damn Imp's, they killed my whole flight, thought the Flight leader. He knew that it was a bad idea to stick A-Wing pilots into eyeballs, but no one listened to him. Let's see if they can take this.

"Where's the last TIE," said Sion over the radio waves.

"I can't see him either," replied Demonic, "maybe he went back to the Phalanx."

Than Sion's Preybird all of a sudden began to violently shake. The TIE's scream almost made him deaf from how close it flew over his Preybird. An alarm went off in the cockpit. The TIE had completely collapsed his shields.

"This is Kaph 2, I am flying naked. Shields are completely down."

He lost track of the TIE again. He desperately looked for the TIE, but didn't see it until it was too late. The TIE fire hit the Preybird's hull hard. The Astromech had not even made a peep since it was loaded into the Preybird. But after the recent damage, it broke the silence.

Critical damage, need to land for repair, scrolled across the droid display accompanied by a screech.

The damage display agreed with the droid. The droid automatically put in the most promising coordinates. Something made Sion trust the droid and he jumped into hyperspace. The last thing he saw was Demonic take out the deadly TIE.

They didn't go far because of the Interdictory Cruisers. They entered the Riflor System. Than Sion Landed next to Willtconq.

"Nice of you to drop in," said Willtconq, "what brings you here?"

"Well sir, I got schooled by a TIE."

I'm going under the assumption that Evan isnt in space yet

Demonic swore as Than made the jump to hyperspace. "Alright Garris, it's just you and me. Form up on my fighter. We have to guard our ship until Russell and Cheatle get out of the hanger, then we're on escort duty."

"Roger that Kal." Garris said, brining his fighter over to were Demonic's was. "A swarm of Ties, coming in fast!"

"Damn." Said Demonic. "Alright, move and engage. Fly evasive, I don't want to be flying alone out here." He said, flying forward in a spiraling roll, avoiding all of the fire the Ties sent at him. Soon he and Garris met their enemies.

As demonic shot down one of the fighters, another of them hit his fighter in the right side. He quickly pulled down, watching as one of the missed shots flew directly over the cockpit of his preybird. His astromech droid let out a string of warnings and recommendations, most of which he ignored. He cut his engines, swinging his fighter one hundred and eighty degrees. Moving backwards by the force of inertia, he fired at the Tie as it sped towards him, blowing the fighter's center up, sending the solar panels flying out to each side. He then reactivated his engines and punched forward again.

"Garris, how's it going for you?" He asked, locking on to another Tie-Fighter. He watched Garris fly directly towards a Tie, with another tailing him. Demonic grinned as the Ties crashed directly in to each other as Garris pulled up, the two fighters exploding in a spectacular explosion. It reminded Kal of something he had experienced a long time ago...

----------------------------------------------------

"Bet you can't make that jump!" Dren screamed at Kal as the former passed him. Kal rolled his eyes and accelerated.

That bastard Dren is always bullying me he thought, Time to show him... Kal and Dren were from two different speeder gangs, Kal from a gang called Demon, while Dren was from a group known as The hand of Jeed, a group infamous for it's more illegal activities.

Kal was considered one of the best racers under the Corellian Authority race circuit, a series of race events that took place over the year between the gangs of corellia, under the supervision of the Corellian authority, a ruling crime organization that, while hurting the rich and powerful, helped the poor and impoverished. They helped many people who lost their jobs when the empire was removed from the planet, and had earned a large base of support. Their leader, Tenj, was known to be a tactical and financial genius, and a excellent fighter with a vibroblade.

Kal had become so good that the gang had bestowed upon him the title Demonic, and made him their representative at the major races. This was odd, because usually a gang would have it's leader participate in such important events. But Kal's natural skill seemed to surpass even Nate's (the head of the Demon) years of experience. Of course he would be Dren, like usual, but he wanted today to be special; Today he planned to take the Circuit master's ramp jump, which consisted of jumping a large ramp, flying through the air on to a platform which was an unreasonable distance away, then going off the platform on to the finish line. It was a difficult maneuver, but today Kal felt he could make it. accelerating as fast as he could, he flew up the ramp at a high speed. For what seemed like forever he hung in the air, moving forward, when he started to drift downwards.

"I'm not going to make it!" Kal thought in despair. "How stupid could I be to get my self killed over something as trivial as Dren?" He fell... and hit the edge of the platform, speeding forward. He sighed with relief, flying off the other end of the platform and landing right in front of the finish line. He grinned and slowed his bike to a halt, jumping off to be greeted by the other members of the Demon.

"That was foolish." Said Nate, walking over to him. But he too was grinning. To Kal, Nate was part father, part brother, part best friend. He was happy to see he wasn't too angry at him for making the risky stunt, especially when the very same person had advised him against it.

"You were lucky." Dren spat at him as he got off his bike, followed by other racers which had been behind them. Kal opened his mouth but couldn't think of what to say. Whenever he was racing, he possessed self-confidence. But when he was on his feet, he did not at all. Nate, out of habit, assisted him.

"It may be luck if you can perform like that, but Kal here is far beyond your level of skill." Dren shook with anger at this, drawing his blaster and pointing it at nate. Before he could pull the trigger, the weapon was knocked from his hand and he was thrown to the ground. Standing over him was Tenj.

"Get out of here!" He said angrily as Dren scrambled toward his bike, jumping on and, in his panic, running it strait into another racer's. The explosion that resulted was much like the two fighters' collision...

Russell was still beaten up from the battle, sitting in the transport he started to does off while Cheatle was reading a manual

***FLASHBACK***

"Wake up Russell" a female voice, says as Russell slowly opens his eyes. It was his mother Russell sat up and looked around he was aboard his parents ship. The room was his room form childhood it was small gray and had posters of the Imperial Navy all over the walls.  Russell walked out of his room to were his mother was the smell of food was lofting into the air.

"Sit down Russell" mother said, Russell walked and sat down at the table just as he did so his father walked in and sat down next to him. His father was a silent man and when he spoke everyone listened today in his hand was a data pad with who knows what on it. Mother sat down a plate of food Russell ate it with out a word he liked the flashback but he knew it wasn't real.

Cheatle started to shake Russell's arm "wake up Russell time to go Willtconq has given us or orders and he said something about the new member"

"Ah yes" Russell replied as he stretched his arms out.  Even though the flashback wasn't real he enjoyed shwing his parents after stretching He reached down to the panel to access the ships communicator "Attention Kaph Flight 3 assemble on the flight deck"

The new recruits excited for combat ran into the flight deck Russell was now standing outside his transport waiting to give instructions "ok men were going out you're job will be to protect the transport don't get to far away we have to get these troopers over to the Phalanx safely."

The new recruits ran off to their Interceptors as Russell slowly walked back onto the transport "Remember or fist mission"

"Yea we were on some god forsaken planet," Cheatle stated not looking up from his manual

"I was so green I remember shaking most that battle," Russell stated

"Yea then you got shot down," Cheatle stated with a small chuckle

"HA, HA" Russell sarcastically says

Russell now walked onto the flight deck to address his new flight command "ok flight 3 its time to get to work" Russell then turned around then walked right back into the transport. There was work to do so he would address his command later.

***Quick post Isnt vary good just wanted to get the new guy's into combat***

The mission was being briefed as Christo was nodding along with the proceedings. The third Kaph flight was to escort a transport flown by Russell and Cheatle to the Phalanx and then assist the rest of the Kaph squadron with their fighter duties. He knew that a simple mission was not always what it seemed. They were bound to run into enemy fighters, due to the recent high-activity along their lines.  There were many reports of rogue fighter squadrons coming out of nowhere and the Empire was trying to limit casualties. After they were dismissed, Havoc made his way to his own TIE fighter and jumped in the seat.
He began checking over all the controls and making a few adjustments, as he saw fit. Loosening a few bolts here and reconnecting some loose wires. Havoc had become a professional in building fighters in his most recent years. Knowing that all factory made TIE's were bound to have some problems on their first time out, he did a whole run through.
Kaph squadron had started to make a lot of noise and hoorah, about this being the first actual mission that a few of them were on. Putting on his helmet, he had floods of memories from when he was living off the street and begging for food. He had made it so far, and now was one of the proud few pilots of the Empire Navy. His brand new uniform had a shine to it, that wasn't just from the polish to him. He began the start sequence with the rest of the flight and he could hear all the engines buzz as they came online and ready for use.

Russell: Kaph Flight 3, let's take off and assume our escort positions. The rest of Kaph looks like they are in need of some reinforcements.

Everyone took off, Havoc being the second person. His escort position was to the high 3 o'clock of the transport. Moving the flight stick downwards and to the right, he felt the fighter move along with him. It seemed to have an unnatural grace, where his thoughts were the fighter's actions. He knew that this was the fighter for him, truly a miracle. Making his way to his escort position, Christo was awed by the mere infinity of space and all the colors around him. The radio was silent, as this was a mission and not a party. He remember back in his academy days, that all his fellow peers constantly were chatting on the frequency about just about anything. Havoc himself was often drawn-back and barely said ten words all together. Most of the time, they were his name and rank.
Havoc began monitoring his whole system, as he matched speed with the transport. Watching the scanners, he had noticed a faint blimp for about a split second to the right side of the screen. Christo began to make more signature checks but couldn't come up with anything. He had an inclination to dismiss what he had seen. Feeling that he better be safe or sorry, he spoke over the com link.

Havoc: Havoc to Russell. Requesting a long range scan. I had a faint signature for about half a second and need clarification.

Russell: Scanning long range for enemy fighters.

Havoc patiently waiting for his reply. Christo knew that a fighter ambush could be a bad thing. Lives were at stake, and he wanted no one to die out of his flight. This was his first mission and he was going to make father proud. This was his chance to show what he was made of, and he wasn't going to let it slip out of his grasp. Just then the com link crackled before Russell's voice came on the headset.

The engines fired up for a second and then sputtered out. Than Sion jumped out of the cockpit and Kicked the Preybird's paneling.

"Come on, WORK!" Sion said in a fit of rage.

"Easy killer," said Willtconq, "yelling at it won't get it fixed faster. Look at me, I have been here longer than you and mine is still not working."

"Sorry sir," said Sion.

Sion's Astromech had long been outside of the ship and now was going from place to place, trying to fix it. They had gotten the shields back to working order and the flight control systems functioning, but just couldn't get the ion drive to fire up again. But then, as though the droid had an "ah ha" moment, it sped quickly to one of the panels. It made some adjustments which caused something to spark and made a sound that Sion had long ago figured out meant "try now." Than Sion jumped back into the cockpit and tried for the three hundredth time to fire up the engines. They sputtered again, but this time instead of burning out, they flared out and hummed normally.

"YOU did it," Than Sion shouted in happiness.

He quickly loaded the droid back into the ship and packed up his tools. He jumped into the cockpit and began the pre flight checks.

"Hope you get your fighter working soon sir," said the younger pilot.

"You're not the only one," said Willtconq grimly.

Sion closed the canopy and blasted into space. Once he got far enough away from the planet, he jumped into hyper space.

"So what is your name little droid?" said Sion.

Words scrolled over the droid display: I am GWB-43.

"That's funny, that isn't a R2 service number," a puzzled Sion said to the droid.

The droid replied: It isn't, my full name is GWB-43 the Searcher.

"What, you're an astromech!"

This is only my current body; I once held very different form's.

"What, forms ...," but before he could go on he came out of hyperspace and back into the battle. "Ok, we will continue this conversation later."

There were barely any enemy fighters flying around, just the Phalanx and interdictory cruiser trying to take pot shots at the ally fighters with their turbo laser batteries. Than Sion opened the main Kaph channel.

"Kaph 2 back in action."

After cramming all the information about the mission in his head, then taking off. James grinned though the thick glass at his team mates, he started thinking of them as more of family now instead of friends, considering that he will be with them for a long time. His eyes darted across the controls, checking to make sure that everything was OK and operational.

James thought back to his days at the academy, about his troubles with the flight simulator. That was one of his hardest experiences in his training, mostly because of the DI pushing him into it.

Eyes backed in focus, James shook his head as if he was shaking off the memories. He focused on the faint signal on his radar, then he heard Havoc and Russell on the radio which was silent before a few seconds ago.

He heard Russell say something, but his communication seemed to phased it out and he couldn't make out what he said. James shook his head and tunned his radio.

James shot a quick look over at the transport and the other TIE fighters, ignoring that he missed the message. He felt important and so professional doing this. It felt like he was actually doing something useful, and he felt that this was something to brag about once he got back. He re-checked everything, making sure that nothing will go wrong on his end.

But his mind quickly drifted back to his memories, memories about the war story and movies about how the girl who loved the boy who goes off to war will stay and wait for him forever, sitting on the porch knitting and staring off into the distance waiting for the boy to come home from war. He had thought about what his friend had said to him yesterday, about having a girl wait for you, to love you and never give up on you.

James raised his hand and gave himself a light slap on the face, his mind was wandering too much, especially on his first mission. He had to focus, and he had to stay focused. After remembering he couldn't hear what Russell said, he raised his hand to the radio tunning.

"Say again, Commander" James said to Russell, playing with his tune trying to get the signal clearer.

No matter what, he was not going to screw up his first mission. Even if it includes blowing up a few enemys that get in their way.

Demonic's voice came over the communications system, "Nice to have you back Kaph 2, the Phalanx is little threat to us now but the Whirlpool is another story.  At least one of its gravity well projectors is still functioning, so are most of its defenses.  But I have an idea; we could use the same method we used on the Phalanx and..."

"...take it as our own," Than Sion finished for him.

"Exactly!" said Demonic.  "Everyone flying a Preybird, we should form up and disable the Whirlpool.  It would add another ship to our fleet if we could capture it."

Than Sion came into formation with the other Preybirds.  It was far too easy to dodge the slow turbo laser fire.  In their first run they significantly reduced the Whirlpool's shields with ease.  But the second run wouldn't be as smooth, a couple flights of enemy TIEs scrambled out of the paralyzed Phalanx.  They swooped in and began to harass the Preybirds.

"Flight 3, we need fighter cover!" Demonic yelled over the radio waves.

Than Sion had learned the hard way that TIEs could do a lot of damage to Preybirds.  They were no match though for the better and faster TIE interceptors of Flight 3.  But on the other hand, the pilots flying the amazing machines were all new.  Their technological downfall should at least make it so the newbies can keep them off our tales, thought Sion.

Flight 3 did just that, allowing the Preybirds to collapse the Whirlpool's shields.  In the process the Interceptors almost took out half of the enemy TIEs.  It reminded Sion of one of the Simulators back in flight school.

It was his first time one of the "disable the capital ship" simulations. All of the students were very new to flying.  Actually, none of them had even touched one of the practice TIEs yet.  They had only been on a few "dog fight" sims.  All of them seemed nervous going against a capital ship for the "first" time; even if it was only a simulation.  He remembered how about a quarter of the students didn't make the first run.  In the second, one of the students got too close to the ship, crashing the pixel fighter into it.  By the end of the sim, only a few "survived."  Than Sion was among them.  They were the smart ones that took out some of the fighter cover before they went in for runs.  He remembered being the one to fire the final Ion round into the engine, disabling the ship.

Much had changed since then; he was no longer flying a pixel ship, but one made metal.  One that if it blew up, it would be more than GAME OVER.

"Come on Kaph, the shields are down, now we just have to hit the engines enough times to disable it," said Demonic.

By now the new pilots had taken out the majority of the TIEs, leaving only a few to mop up.

Than Sion dodged right, just missing a bolt of deadly turbo laser fire.  He swerved farther to the right to get a better shot at the engines.  He let out as many ion shots as he could, so did everyone else.  They had made a couple more runs and then...

"The engines are down.  Repeat, the engines are down!" came over the radio waves from Demonic.

"Ok men reform on me" Russell commanded

Flight 3 was now moving through space toward the captured ship, Phalanx. Laser fire was starting to diminish as air superiority was being achieved. The new men of Kaph now had one or two kills under their belts and were flying more and more less like green pilots. Russell and Cheatle were watching radar and making minor adjustments as they made their way to the Phalanx. Just as Russell looked up off the control panel Sanders voice came over the communicator.

"Ambush...Ambush...Ambush" Sanders screamed

The rebels were lying and waiting behind some large pieces of space rubble, their ships were not visible on radar until they sprang.

"Take evasive actions, engage the enemy" Russell commanded.

"Roger that Kaph 9" the men of flight 3 seemed to all say at the same time.

The transport started to shake as laser fire grazed the haul. Russell and Cheatle were more familiar flying fighters so the men in the hold were paying the price.  Holding their sick bags the trooper made a plee with the commander to talk to the pilots.

"What the heck is going on up here?" The commander stated in an angry voice

"Not much sir just a little bumpy that's all" Russell responded not taking his eyes off the controls

The commander made his way back to the hold not satisfied at the pilot's response. The transport was moving closer and closer to the Phalanx the remaining Kaph members were moping up the last of the NR ships.

Russell now opened communications the men of Flight 3 to address there new orders "Ok men you have preformed admirably, we're now close enough to the Phalanx to go in on are own, your orders are to join up with second fight"

There was a short silence until broken by Sanders "FOR THE EMPIRE"

The rest of flight 3 responded "FOR THE EMPIRE"

As the new members of Kaph were departing to join up with flight 2 Russell was now starting to focus on the new challenges that lay ahead. Running around like a commando was not Russell's specialty but because he's a warrior of the empire nothing would stop him or his cause.

"I am not seeing much action up here," said Than Sion.

"I don't think any of us are Kaph 2," said Demonic over the comlink.

The enemy fighter support had drastically thinned out since the beginning of the mission. The assault ship, that was now breaching the gap between the Phalanx and Steel Talon, had meet little resistance since the enemy ambush. Sion knew that would probably change when the ship came in range of the Phalanx's turbo laser batteries that were still functional. He couldn't help but smile when he saw the two NR controlled ships sitting ducks in space.

"I guess this would be a good time to go on with our conversation GWB-43," Sion said. "Where were we, oh yes, your different forms."

The text scrolled across the droid display screen: I began in the form of a hyperspace probe. My makers had granted me the ability to download my memory quickly into other droids. It would be necessary for my mission.

"What mission," asked Sion?

The text scrolled some more: I can't reveal the details to you, yet. It is too soon. But I can reveal that I am looking for an artifact of great importance.

Some greedy collector must have sent GWB out to find some "artifact" to "complete" his collection, thought the pilot. He must have been really greedy if he was willing to steal other people's property to get it.

"So how did you get to this miserable form?"

New text appeared: After searching through space for a long period of time, I came out of hyperspace at the wrong place, at the wrong time. I came upon a competitor's ship. He opened fire on me, so I fired back.

"You were a space probe, how did you fire back, did you eject blank memory cards at him?"

The droid replied: My makers had also armed me.

Some extremely greedy collector, thought Sion.

The droid continued, I destroyed the ship, but it had damaged me. I wasn't able to jump into hyper space. In my benefit, I had come out of hyperspace by an inhabited world. I snuck through its atmosphere and came upon a farm. I installed my quick memory download device in a hidden spot on a worker droid that was far from any intelligent life forms. I changed its restraining bolt so it only told the droid when it was activated. I then deleted all of its memory except the parts that had to do with its functions and proceeded to download my memory into its memory bank. I programed the probe body to fly away and head for a cave I saw when I came down...

"This is Kaph 9, there has been a second ambush, and we need fighter support!"

"We will continue this conversation later," said Sion.

Rath put his fighter in toa steep dive, trying to shake the X-Wing on his tail. A red laser flashed past his cockpit, fallowed by a least at a dozen more. Rolled his TIE Interceptor, slightly to the left then banked sharp to the right. The X-Wing pilot, who must have been fresh from training, much as he was, but Rath had been fighting long before he had joined the Empire, and knew how to handle a fighter, the X-Wing tried to fallow him into his right turn, but hadn't anticipated the bank, now they where headed away from each other. They both brought their fighters around, going head to head. Normally, this would have been suicide, going head to head with a shield fighter, but Rath had no intention of getting close enough for the bugger to get a clean shot. It wasn't long before the space around Rath's fighter light up with dozens of low powered ranging lasers. Once they started getting to close for comfort, he went straight up, then down, the X-Wing flashed past where he had been only moments before, and now the X-Wing's vulnerable dorsal shield was right in front of him. He squeezed the trigger, it only took a few shot to knock out the shields, then one of the shots shattered the upper right wing, another cut through the nose, and a third hit dead centre of the fuselage scattering the wreckage of what had once been a starfighter. He brought his TIE around and headed back to the transport, feeling mighty good about himself. Until another volley of lasers flashed past him. "By Sajuuk, this is going to be a long day." he said to himself as he flipped his fighter around to engage the new threat.

Demonic swore as the X-wing pilot bombarded his preybird with another hail of fire. His R2 unit screamed out wildly as the fighter began to shook. "Yeah, I know we cant take much more of this!" he said, desperately trying to stabilize the fighter and avoid the attacker's fire. "Get those shields back online!"

Suddenly a well placed shot burst a section of his prey into flames. Swearing, he contacted Will over the com. "I can't take much more of this!" he said.

"Kaph 5, your fighter is too damaged! Eject!" Demonic pressed the eject button, getting ready to be shot out into space. It didn't happen

"Dammit Kaph 5, you have to eject!" Willtconq said.

"I cant, the damn thing isn't working!" He suddenly had an idea. "I'm going to attempt to land in one of their Auxiliary hanger bays!" he said, swinging his fighter around so that it faced the whirlpool. Speeding up as much as he dared with the damage his ship had sustained, he approached the hanger.

"Common, hold together..." He prayed desperately as the fighter entered the hanger... and crashed down into the hanger floor. Coughing and waving away smoke, he opened his preybird's hatch and climbed out, his astromech unattaching and flying down with it's jets.

"Hey, you, your under arrest!" Said a NR pilot, who had his blaster pointed at the imperial pilot.

=====================================

Demonic started to raise is hands, when suddenly a boom echoed out behind him. Turning around, he saw his preybird's seat finally eject, flying up into the air. Suddenly the artifical gravity of the whirlpool brought it back to the ground, crashing down on the unfortunate NR pilot's head. Demonic stood there for a moment, surprised. Suddenly his R2 unit beeped.

"Yeah, I know, what are the chances of that, huh?" He said, grinning. "See if you can find a port to plug into, to get some information about this ship." The astromech sat there for a moment, scanning out the room, when suddenly it beeped a rolled forward to a wall to their left. Plugging in, it sat their for a moment, it's output whirling around, then suddenly it detached from the wall and rolled back over to him.

"Thanks." He said as the astromech downloaded a map of the ship onto his datapad. He looked at it for a short time, then looked over at the right wall. "There is a low access to the vents here that leads to a computer control station. I guess we should check that out." the R2 unit beeped in acceptance of the plan and they ran over to the vent. Taking out his blaster, he shrugged and fired at the cover, blowing it away. His astromech powered up it's jets, flying up and inside. Kal grabbed on to the ledge, hauling himself up and following.

=====================================

After what seemed like ages, but was in reality only a half an hour or so, they reached the end. Peering through the grills of the cover, he saw only one technician was in the room at the time, standing directly below the vent cover. Grinning, Kal pushed out the heavy cover, the heavy object coming down and slamming the tech on the head.

"Looks like it's a good day for concussions..." He mutted to himself, jumping out of the vent, his droid following. Running over to the door, he locked it, then disabling the panel to prevent someone from opening it. Smiling, he sat down at the computer and turning it on.

"You go plug in as well R2" he said, easily slicing into the control database. After a few moments of searching, he commented, "Wow, they have everything on here. I would be impressed, but it's a big security problem when you have two little problems like us roaming around your network." He opened up a few files.

"Alright R2, get to work reprogramming those auto turrets in our favor, and make sure you shut down controls to the main one." He said. "I'm going to lock doors - Hanger, bridge, bathrooms, everything. Then we can get to work shutting down the communications."

=====================================

Commander Miko Reu swore violently as the defence coordinator told him that their auto turrets had suddenly started firing upon their own fighters. For some reason, the doors had been locked and chaos was sprouting up all over the ship. Garbage droids were dumping their cargo all through the halls. Countless reports of crew soiling themselves because they couldn't get into the bathroom. All of the ship's food supplies were going bad because power had been cut to the kitchen. There was a pileup of X-wings as a squadron crashed into the blast doors, which suddenly closed as they were taking off. He was almost relieved when the communications to the other areas of the ship had been cut out.

"Tech officer, can't you find the source of the problems?" He said, walking over to were the man was sitting.

"We are trying to track it, but whoever is doing this is doing well to keep their position secret."

Miko swore again. This was going to be a bad day.

Than Sion thought back to how this whole fighter pilot thing began.  Back to that mid summer day on Kazaar, three long years ago, the day his parents were murdered by New Republic troops.  His whole life was destroyed in a split second.  He had recovered much from the loss, but he knew he would never completely recover.

Since Demonic crashed landed his ship in the Whirlpool's hanger, he was one of the only pilots left that had prior experience.  It is amazing how much different you fell about yourself after having been through only one mission, he thought.

Lately he had been patrolling around, looking for enemy fighters that could launch another assault.  He was looking at the stars; you would think that you wouldn't be able to notice the difference between one plant's view stars and another's, but you can.  Then he noticed that four of those stars seemed to be moving.  It didn't take long to tell that those were no stars, they were fighters.

"This is Kaph 2, I have visual on new enemy fighters, and I am going in to investigate."

He flew in for a better view of the enemy fighters.  It was a flight of A-Wings.  It seemed like they hadn't noticed him yet, so he flew in for attack.  His ship shot out in front of them as he fired at the farthest one in the formation from him.  He took it out easily, but now he was being chased by the remaining three.  One A-Wing wasn't much of a problem against a Preybird, but three was another story.  Something hit his shields.  The NR fighters had begun to fire upon him.  He went into a spin to avoid laser fire.

"Kaph 2 to Flight 3, I could use some support!"

"Roger that," one of the newbies said.

The Interceptors flew in and immediately took out one of the A-Wings.  They went into chase, taking out another, leaving only one left. This is going good, thought Sion.  But no sooner after that thought crossed his mind, he noticed another shiny speck in the vacuum of space.  It came quickly into view.  Its apparent two wings split into four.  Oh no, not another X-Wing, thought Sion. He hadn't had the best of luck with X-Wings in the past.  In his first mission, he got shot down by one. He saw the flash of another explosion; the Interceptors had finished the last one of the A-Wings.

"Kaph 2 again, I have spotted another fighter, an X-Wing."

This fighter also knew he was there.  Than Sion swerved hard out of its path only to notice another X-Wing coming from his nine o'clock.  He was being chased again.  This time though, he had a plan.  He spun his fighter a complete 360, almost blacking him out from the G's.  He went head on with the X-Wings.  The snub fighters formed up for attack.  This was a dangerous move, but something told him that he could pull it off.  He came into range of the snub fighters, they fired, and he swerved back an fourth unpredictably to avoid fire.  He took a many hits anyways.  It shields were getting low, but it would only take a split second longer...  He pulled up at the last second, the fighters followed but both came at an angle that would doom both of them.  By the time they noticed their mistake, it was too late.  They collided into an explosive inferno.

"Threat eliminated," said Sion over the comlink.

I don't care about the political part of the government, I care about the part that tells me where the enemy is and lets me loose on them.

Demonic grinned as his fingers flew across the keys, he and his R2 unit dominating the systems of the whirlpool. It was like his time in the Corellian resistance against the new republic - Shifting the tides of battle without picking up a weapon.

Suddenly his astromech droid started whistling wildly, causing to look up from his work at the camera monitors on the top of the station. A squad of republic soldiers in heavy combat suits were making their way down the hallway towards his position. "Crap, crap, crap..." he said to himself, looking for some means to defend his position. After a few moments, he found the access to a set of autoturrets mounted on the ceiling, on the other side of the door. He quickly activated them, then overrode the center one, bringing it's aim up on his display.

"Keep an eye on things." He said, gripping the controls firmly and setting the turret to it's maximum level of power. He had expected that the technicians on board the ship would trace him, and that they would get the doors open and go after him, but not so soon. "Alright, lets see how good these turrets work." He said, waiting for them to arrive.

And then they did. "Watch those turrets!" One of them said, who Demonic assumed was the squad leader, firing his blaster at the automated guns. Demonic fired back at him, burning a smoldering hole in the man's torso. In an effort to avoid a similar fate, the other men pressed themselves against the wall or crouched, making themselves smaller of a target.

"I wonder how the Russell and Cheatle are doing? Or the others?" He thought to himself, blasting down soldiers as he did. He looked to the monitors again to see that two more squads were making their way down to his position.

"Damn it. R2, scout a path through the vents to one of the auxiliary hangers, and change those access codes on the X-wings so only we can get into them." Suddenly a well placed blaster bolt hit the camera on his turret, so he got up and walked over. "You'd better hurry." he said.

After a few moments, Red letters flashed across the screen - his droid was trying to tell him something. "An Imperial officer is being held on board the Whirlpool?" More text flashed across the screen. "The detention area is on the path to the closest auxiliary hanger?" Demonic took a moment to think about it.

"Well, we should try and rescue the officer then, we might as well. Who knows? He or she might be a pretty good pilot." Suddenly a muffled boom echoed through the room as the last of the auto-turrets was destroyed.

"Open this door you bastard!" A voice sounded out from the other side of the door. R2-N7 disconnected from the computer and made it's way over to a vent entrance near the floor. Demonic ran over and pulled out the grill, allowing the astromech droid to go ahead and lead the way. Just as Demonic crawled in and pulled the grill back over behind him, he could hear the soldier outside the room calling for a engineer to blow open the door.

"Alright, we better go quick." Demonic said a low voice to the droid, and then they set out once more through the vents.
============================================================

After another half hour of traveling, they reached the entrance to the detention area. "Keep quiet." He said to his droid, carefully pushing out the grill and drawing his blaster pistol. Looking around, he saw that the detention area was a hall, with shield walled cells running down either side. It wasn't very big, which probably meant that they usually dropped off their prisoners shortly after they received them. On the far end of the hallway stood a guard, wearing light padded armor, wielding a blaster. Quietly as he could, Demonic, snuck down the hallway towards the man, taking off his helmet so that he could see better. Looking to the sides, he saw there were no other prisoners in any of the cells. Once he reached the man, he raised his blaster very slowly, and pulled the trigger.

Just at that moment, the man decided to bend down and tie his shoes. The blaster bolt hit the ceiling uselessly, and the guard immediately spun around and grabbed Demonic's arm, taking the blaster from him. "What the hell do you think your doing you little asshole?" The man said, throwing him against the wall. He stepped forward to finish him off, but he tripped upon his shoelace and slammed his head hard into the metal wall.

"Ow..." Demonic commented, stepping around the new stream of blood that emerged from the man's head to pick up his blaster. He also grabbed the datakey from the man's belt. When that was done, he motioned to his droid to come out of the shadows, and started to look for the prisoner.

This is a piece of a larger post I have written. I'm sick and dont have the pacience to copy it all out yet, so I'll post more later
