Slouched back in a makeshift lawn chair, Shazam stirred his hot coco; he was the only one in the long white room. For the most part, the ensign practiced clumping up the undissolved mix into the middle of the styrophone cup to give the image of a small island stranded in the middle of an endless bog. Then after about two minutes of playing around, he took a whiff of the concoction and took it down in two gulps. He exhaled as if it were a sigh and felt as if he were relaxed more than he had ever been before. After staring for a good minute more into the empty space ahead, surveying the pallid walls and smooth floors, he stood up and moved to trash receptacle to the right of him. As he did so, a bright white door at the far end of the hall flew open and what looked to be a paperboy ran in at full speed, breathless.

Shazam opened the lid of the trash can and dropped the cup in just as the boy reached him, his little legs were flailing about as if he were running from a pack of bloodhounds. The officer didn't bother to ask why the bridge had brought a young child on board because he already knew the captain of the ship well enough to know that this was his son. The little one held out his hand, bending over to try and catch his breath; he'd run very hard for sure.

A fleeting thought caught the Nazgul SC just before he took the letter... Would have he imagined he were here at this spot three years ago? He gave a slight grin then snatched the folded piece of paper from his hands and removed the captains clay seal placed over the opening flap. He read the letter over twice then ripped it to tatters and released them into the same trash receptacle to this right. The boy had a curious look on his face, but Shazam comforted him with a pat on the back and told him "Lets go see your father..."

*The Bridge of the Strike-Class Medium Cruiser 'Canton'*

The little boy who often times went by the name of 'Post' because of his most frequent chore, headed away from the entrance to the main walkway in the bridge. Instead, he found his way over to a console with a vast array of messaging boards- maybe he was the actual post? Shazam hadn't actually seen the child in at least three years, so he couldn't say he'd known any better. The officer began his assent ion to the upper landing but stopped in his tracks as a friendly voice sounded behind him. "Ensign Shazam... Good to see you."

The SC spun around and met the captains gaze, he hadn't changed much. Although his facial features appeared to have aged with some anxious battles, the rest of him remained the same, short dark hair, rouch tan skin covered for the most part by a clean and neatly pressed uniform- not an officers though. This was a set of dark pants and a white, lightweight shirt of some kind, an expensive brand Shazam probably didn't even know of. These, maybe, were slightly different, but his dark brown eyes were exactly the same. Warm and hospitable, but it did not take away from his seemingly wise air; his sangfroid was impermeable none the less.

"I see your making your son the best of the best," Shazam said and clasped the captains hand with his own firm grip.

"Well, you know, the family always wanted an army man in the family, figured I'd give them what they want..." The two grinned at each other for a moment, Shazam knew darned well how much Henson hated to be told that he should have joined the army instead.

"And I see your having people rip up your letters now," Shazam continued as he retrieved his hand and stuck it in his Nazgul sweatshirt. (A month ago Will had come up with some logo for Kaph's uniforms so Nazgul decided to make some sweatshirts without any insignia- memorabilia was against policy...).

"Well I'd like them burned, but that would set off the alarms..." he said this with a smile as well, but Shazam wasn't sure if he was serious or not. "Anyways, now that we've finished re-evaluating each other, might as well get down to business. I need your group to be ready in the briefing room at eight hundred hours. You have one half hour, Raze Squadron will meet at the same time, so try to make some room. The briefing room is a little smaller than it should be for two squadrons..." Shazam nodded through this and shook hands with his old friend one last time.

Time to go inform the new XO and collect the group...

*A short walk down the hall*

There were maybe two things Shazam liked about medium class cruisers. For one, you only had to go a little over the distance it takes to get to the bathroom to reach where your actually going, and two... Your still in the comfort of a big heavily armed ship. You couldn't help but stroll the halls at a brisk pace, cause you just felt fine.

The officer reached a slightly shantier section of the cruiser about two minutes later, this section was slightly less detailed as the extravagant bridge or mess-hall. Shazam stopped directly in front of a sliding door barely visible in the dim light of the hallway- it was said they kept the lights low so the adjustment to space wouldn't be so dramatic for the pilots.

After looking up and down the hallway for other tenants and spotting none, Shazam gave a sharp rap on the plastic exterior of the door. There was a moments silence where Shazam leaned inward against the door intently, and then a swish of air and the young man flew down wards.

"Spying on me Shazam?" asked Jen Knight as the officer picked himself up off the ground. She was hunched over him, long red hair trailing off her face and nearly resting on his back.

"Spying? HA!" he gruffly retorted. "If I were spying my dear, it'd be on the lovely lady mechanic who's prepping our ships. My goodness," Shazam started in after reaching his full stature... "What a FOX that one is... I mean..." Jen slapped him over the shoulder and shook her head.

"Whadda ya want?" Shazam dusted himself off before answering.

"We have about twenty..." he glanced down at his timer," yes... Twenty-six minutes now to get our team together and meet in the briefing room. I assume they're all at their appropriate locations..." he said with an air of 'Yea Right'.

"Spose we'd better split up? I'll check the lounge," Jen flung her hair over her shoulder and balled her fist together as she always did.

"And I'll check..." Shazam began but Jen interrupted-

"The hanger bay? We're looking for the members of Nazgul squadron, not your wish list Shazam..." She exited through the open door. The SC called out after her-

"WHAT? I'm sure Darius is out there... Or Jack..." Then murmuring quietly," Hopefully not..." And he went the opposite direction to find the hanger bay and make some stops.

(Alright this is your story starter, everyone needs to introduce themselves through these opening post, especially if you didn't get a good chance to in the wing story. Also, be doing something when we come to get you at least, lol. Rock on.)

Standing in the hangar of the ship, Senior Chief Petty Officer Jack Nebulax began to make a few check-ups on his special TIE Aggressor. He hadn't flown the craft in a while, and now was his chance.

Not too long ago, he had almost resigned from active duty. His new wife, Alexia Far'shadow-Nebulax, had urged him to take a long leave for them to be together.

But, his first commitment was the Vast Empire. He was a pilot, and he strived to be the best. Weeks ago, or perhaps months, Jack couldn't remember, he had been removed from his position as Nazgul Squadron's Executive Officer. Jack had tried his hardest to become better, as Shazam had instructed him. Arturus had replaced him, and Art had done a way better job. Then, after Art resigned days ago, Jack felt that he might have to do the same. But he held on, despite his wife's complaints. Then Jen Knight took up the vacant position. Yet Jack still wondered if he could ever reclaim his position.

I'll do my best, Jack thought to himself.

Of course, Jack knew Jen would also do an excellent job. Now, Jack was Flight Three's leader. This time, considering he had an active flight, he would simply lead the best he could. He wouldn't do it to be XO again - for all he knew, he might never be XO again. But Jack was fine with that.

Now, Nazgul Squadron, like most of the Navy, had fallen under hard times. After all, there was a war going on out there between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant. Many people probably left active service to support the Empire on their planet, or perhaps they decided to flee from the war. But fleeing the inevitable was almost impossible; Jack had learned that the hard way.

Perhaps, although he didn't want to think about it, some of those Navy members that had left had become casualities in the growing conflict.

He sure hoped not.

Meanwhile, Jack sat in the fighter's cockpit, eagerly awaiting battle.

I'm back... Jack though to himself.

Darius sat on the hangar floor with droid parts scattered all about him.  He had just purchased a limited TC series protocol droid.  A data pad was connected to the central processor, and the communication between the two computers told Darius that he had his desired personality set for the droid.  His arms shot up in the air, and he let out a triumphant scream.

The young pilot had been around long enough that people were getting to know him slightly, even though he keeps to himself most of the time.  Since a truimphant scream is very uncommon from such a man, people gathered around him as reassembled his new droid.

Out of curiosity, Jack hopped out of his TIE Aggressor and pushed his way through the gathering crowd.  "What's goin' on Dar?" he questioned.

"Check this out!" exclaimed Darius.  He assembled the droid in record time.  Jack hadn't seen him this excited since Veronat, when he was detonating explosives.

Darius flipped the power switch to the on postition and the droid came to life as its eyes flickered on.  The droid took in its surroundings and remarked, "take a picture, it'll last longer," in a tinny, yet sarcastic voice.  Darius grinned ear to ear.

Suddenly, the ecstatic man grabbed a depleted power core that a gaping mechanic was holding, and spread the crowd to make an opening.  "TC, target practice."

The droid replied, "PULL!"  Darius threw the core with amazing speed and distance.  Two laser cannon sprang out of the droids shoulders and fired faster than the blink of an eye.  IN a bright flash, the core was obliterated and its remnants hit the hangar doors, falling to the floor.  A small cleaning droid sprang out from a cubby in the wall and two simultanious shots rang out again in the hangar.

All that remained of the droid was a black scorch mark and its wheels.  "Woops," muttered Darius, as spun his TC-3K6 around and deactivated him.  He plugged in the data pad and began to modify the droids programming.

Once reactivated, Darius showed off a couple other features that were his favorite.  The hangar crew and Jack watched in admiration of the finely built droid.

Meanwhile, a hestitant cleaning droid on the other side of the hanger quickly scurried across to remove its fallen comrade from shining hangar floor.

DJ234 sat in his Custom TIE Anubis watching Darius doing some target practice with his new droid. chuckling softly as he watched something else get destroyed. Getting out of the cockpit and going over to Dar, "hey Dar looks like your having fun" I said with a knowing smile.

Darius turned around and smiled back at his friend "Fun DJ thats an understatement I'm having a blast". Looking like a kid in a candy shop Darius skipped back down to his droid.

"Might as well get back to fixing my TIE" I said while climbing in the cockpit.

DJ has been a hyper pilot always trying to do things first without thinking of the consequenses, it has meesed up the team badly sometimes when I do sometihng wrong.

But that hyper pilot is a good guy doing what he can to help he slowly gains respect. Losing his position as Flight 3 leader has hit him deep now he can only try twice as hard to get it back and make the other's proud of him.

Installing the new Radio I climbed out and went over to Darius once again. "hey Dar sorry to intrupt you but dont you think we should be going to the ship and getting everything ready for take off, i mean we are the pilots after all". Dar Looked at DJ arched an eybrow and said "ya i guess your right man just give me a couple of minutes to finish up everthing and I'll meet you there ok?"

"Sure Dar got it I'll be at my TIE just cleaning up, call me when your ready to leave ok?"

"Ya DJ got it"

Sighing and putting the stuff away he thought 'hmm maybe this mission wont be so bad after all'.

(Just before DJ's post...)

As Jack watched Darius fool around with his new TC-model protocol droid unit, Jack said: "Hold on a sec. Let me get Artoo out here to show you what he's got."

Then, Jack spoke into his mechanical super battle droid right arm. "Artoo, mind if you'd come into the hangar?"

A few seconds later, Jack's R2-series astromech droid unit, R2-X7 came rolling in, beeping away. His droid always went with him when Jack would get transferred to another ship. There were always together when Jack wasn't busy fighting or preparing for a mission.

"So, what's he got?" Darius challenged.

"Watch this: Artoo, active proto-program THX."

Suddenly, a small droid popped out of one of Artoo's hatches. It reminded Jack of a miniature buzz droid from the Clone Wars era. But in fact, it was a simple droid modified for a performance.

As the mini buzz droid moved around, Jack said, "Artoo, program eleven thirty-eight!"

Almost as fast as the small droid had came out, a small hold-out laser pistol appeared in another one of Artoo's pannels. It shot out a stun bolt, short-circutting the small droid's programming. It fell to the floor with a small "clunk".

Darius, along with some people in the crowd, turned to face Jack.

Then Jack said, "Security programming," and smiled.

About a month into active duty with Kaph Squadron, long before Nazgul was ever recreated, there was a battle on a distant planet involving a group of pirates using TIE modified fighters.  While the mission planetside had been executed succesfuly, the skies above held no joy as they were littered with the ships of several poorly trained imperial pilots.  Shazam was among the surivors in Kaph Squadron at the time, some of his friends hadn't even been launched for the battle because the threat of a few pirate fighters seemed ridiculous...  Of course, it was only when the higher-ups had to evacuate emergency fighters into an array of cannons from an unseen battleship, they realized that a few fighters were enough to drown out the bigger, more important ones.

Immedietly following the tragic battle, barelly considered a victory by most of the pilots, a training camp was held on an asteroid not too far from the Naval Academy.  Shazam felt as if he were being down-graded to a simple recruit, but accepted the invitation reguardless.  They were told the camp was optional, but in truth, anyone who didn't desire such training was thought to be an overzealous pilot who would die soon enough anyways.

The training consisted of a week and a half worth of 'flying lessons' where the pilots were thrown into awkward situations.  They started the camp with a simple escort exercise, told only that they were to "Reach Waypoint 5."  After only Waypoint 1, five uglies appeared from out of nowhere and destroyed the so called 'protectors' of the escort ship.  These were wargames, no actual lasers but no simulators either.  The man running the camp was none other than Roger Henson.

As for the reasoning this particular person ran the camp?  He himself had been a pirate for about fifteen years of his life, from childhood until he realized the ways of the Empire.  Unable to persuade his little brother into the same set of logic, he left him behind, thinking eventually he would come and join the Navy.  His father despised him and his father-in-law hated him just as much for siding with the obvious Navy choice, himelf an Army man.  Unfortunetly, during a battle in the outskirts, the Henson brothers were forced against one another, neither knowing who the other was...  Canton was in an unrecognizable ugly, and Roger in a new gleaming TIE fighter.  Roger was the one to tally another kill to his stats that day; he would never learn he had destroyed his own brother...

Roger found it impossible to make contact with his family for fear of questioning from communications advisors on 'seditios acts..'  So, once he was given comission of a ship, he named it "Canton" in the hopes his brother would someday find his way to it.

Shazam knew none of this and did not care that Henson was supposebly a seasoned pilot...  Every person was put into a group for the camp and Shazam's advisor just so happened to be Henson.  After hearing all the stories on the pilot, instead of running from him, he met the teacher head on in every battle, often forcing them into one on one combat; even more often this resulted in the loss of his team and the game.  After an especially rigourous day of training where Shazam nearly killed one of his own in an effort to take down Henson, he was taken aside by the teacher.  Shazam expected some yelling and screaming of sorts, but was completely surprised when he was lavished with compliments.

"Your brave, that's obvious enough.  But you don't need to try and prove it to me or anyone else by losing every game...  You can take most of the people out there, so don't be afraid to defend your position and take others on..."  The slightly older man seemed to have confidence in him, so Shazam changed a little after that.  The following day, and every one after that, the team Shazam was thrown into, won the battle.  Shazam kept himself modest by telling himself he would face someone far greater than himself someday, and only his squadron mates would be able to keep him from certain doom.  This is what he learned from Roger Henson and that is how he knows him on this mission.

**Nazgul Hanger bay, Shortly after the disply of Droid Enginuity**

From a distance, Shazam might have seemed coincidental, but up close, his eyes were trained on specific point.  As Dj began packing his things and Darius cleaned up, the SC of Nazgul squadron slowly made his way across the hanger bay, ship by ship.  This continued for about two and a half minutes until the young blonde with loose straps seemed to take notice of him.  This elicited a single smile; her eyes were covered by a pair of welding goggles and her hair was held back in a kind of bow to keep it from falling over her shoulders.  As Shazam pretended to investigate a scratch on a nearby TIE he thought to himself,"HA, she thinks I'm cute...  Me!?"  He glanced around to make sure of this, then he moved forward again, careful to keep himself concealed behind some kind of barrier, whether it was a fighter, a machine, or even another pilot.  She did not look at him again until he was directly next to her, posing in a pretty self-absorbed fasion.

The blonde sighed, removed her goggles and gave him only a glance.  "I'm not impressed..." Shazam lifted an eyebrow and tried to stretch into an even more awkward position against one of the collumns.  She watched him for a moment, then laughed as Shazam had hoped; if not for this, he would have hightailed it.  She did, in fact, have a weapon ready to go by her side and she looked lethal enough herself.  But he would push on.

"My names' Shazam," he said, getting up to full posture without taking his eyes off of hers.  Dj yelped as he dropped something on himself and Darius ran over to assist him; Shazam's grin stayed steady.

"I know..."  And she turned back to her work, and Shazam glanced backwards to signal for the two squadron members to cut it out for just a minute.

"Might I have the pleasure of knowing Miss Beautiful Blonde's name?"  He came closer still, almost touching the bench her torch was attached to.  She didn't click the trigger so she must have been listening, thought Shazam, but then the fire burst out the spout and he felt some rejection.  He turned to leave when he heard a voice-

"My co-workers call me Trish..."  Shazam turned back around.  She looked him up and down for a moment then said," You are a co-worker..."  Then truly returned to her work, goggles and all.

Shazam nodded and thought to himself," Trish...  What if I wasn't your co-worker?"  Then he put it out of his head and glanced over at Darius who appeared to be swearing up a storm over a broken part.  DJ pointed to the SC and Darius seemed to correct his language with a scowl, then the two of them followed thier satisfied leader to the exit.

(Excellent job guys, almost done with introductions I think.)

*** During the droid demontsration ***

Trevor was sitting against the wal of the hanger, near his stock TIE fighter, eating a sandwich he had picked up in the cafeteria. Suddendly, he heard the sound of blasters firering, and jumped to his feet, pulling his pistol as he got up. He quickly scanned the room, and saw where the noise came from.

O, its just those pilots, what are their names again? Um, Darius and DJ I think. Yeah, thats them. He thought to himself, and considered walking over to get a better look at what was going on. He looked back to where he was sitting as he holstered his blaster, and saw his sandwich on the ground, pieces of nerf meat splayed accross the floor. Damn! I just bought that...O well, it wasnt very good anyway.

He started towards the other pilots, and heard another set of blaster shots, which made him jump again. He didn`t  jump out of surprise, but because the sound of hand-held blaster fire brought back some troubling memories, such as when he lost one of the squadren members from the Hussars. He pushed the thoughts out of his mind, and continued closer to the pilots, and the small crowd that had now gathered around them.

He craned his neck, trying to see above the heads of those taller then him, and finally managed to get closer to the action. A TC series driod and a R2 droid appeared to be showing off their defesnsive capabilities. He was tempted to call his own R5 droid, and show off, but after seeing what the R2 unit could do, he decided against it, because although his R5 was a decent security droid, it would be no match for either of the droids. He walked away from the crowd, and sat back down near his fighter.

He pulled another sandwich out of his duffle bag, this one being a vegitarian sandwich, and started snacking on it. He sat quietly for a while, watching the other pilots going about their bussiness. He saw Shazam go up and start talking to the good looking blonde mechanic, and heard Darius start swearing about somthing. He looked over when he heard the first swear, and couldn`t help but to grin when he saw DJ point to Shaz. Darius stopped swear and went back to his work.

Trevor was half way through his sandwich before realizing it wasnt very good either, but he wasnt hungry anymore. The thought of an upcoming battle seemed to worry him. Even though he knew he had his squad-mates covering him, he was still nervous about flying in a TIE. He put down his sandwich and closed his eyes, relaxing himself, and pushing all thoughts out of his mind.

As the Nazguls followed their leader, Jack noticed that TC was still laying on the floor.  "Dar, aren't you going to collect your droid?"

Dar gave a small, yet serious smile.  "I thought you would have figured out by now.  Surprises are a rare treat to me."  The buzz droid "buzzed" around its victim in a circle of triumphant glee.  The TC snapped up and snatched the little buzz droid before it could react.  Forcing all of its limbs inside its protective shell, the droid was defenseless.

Jack gave Darius a pleading look.  He was hoping Darius wouldn't damage any of his droids.

TC casually rose up and approched Jack's R2.  The shorter droid started to backup in fear of what would happen next.  "I believe you let this little guy out of his cage," replied TC.  An arm slowly came out of the R2 and TC place the buzz droid gently in it.  "If I were going to destroy you, I would have shot you before my buddy ordered me to get up."  TC strode off to catch up with Darius as the R2 put the buzz droid back in its compartment.

When the protocol droid reached Dar, it started making small talk with Shazam.  Darius cleared his throat, trying to get the droids attention.  "TC!" he abrubtly said.

The droid turned its head around as it walked with the group.  "Yes."

"I'm expecting a couple more deliveries.  While I'm away, I need you to collect them and put them in storage."

"Yessir," TC replied, and strode off back to the hangar.

Darius looked at Shazam, "when do we leave?"

As Darius walked away, Jack replied to TC in his head: Don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from.

Then, Jack let out an approving smile.

Ever since Jack had his original right arm torn off and replaced, Jack had been interested in the Clone Wars-era. He would search for Separatist and Republic relics alike, displaying them off in his quarters.

As for the miniature buzz droid, one of Jack's longtime Auroran Defense Fleet friends had built five of them for Jack's R2 unit. That friend happened to be a great droid manufacturer. Last time Jack heard, he was planning on creating a business.

Meanwhile, Jack was mending to the broken mini buzz droid. Jack knew it could either be repaired or replaced. But, as Jack had found out by R2-X7's sorrowful beeps and whistles, his astromech droid had become emotionally attached.

Great, Jack thought, letting out a soft chuckle.

After Jack told the little droid to head back for his quarters, the Imperial pilot headed back for his TIE Aggressor. Jack would now be ready for any conflict against the enemy. He would strike hard with the Aggressor's bombs, and finish them off with the craft's lasers.

Finally, Jack thought, Nazgul will prove itself. It will become the Empire's equivalent to their "Rogue Squadron" or whatever. Victory is ours.

(Alright, excellent job everyone.)

"About an hour and a half...  Maybe two hours..." Replied Shazam.

Now that he had his game face on, Shazam felt a change come over him.  Normally how he chose to act had a serious effect on his actual feeling at that present moment.  At times, he even seemed by bi-polar, but maybe that was some people hesitated to joke around with him, for fear that the next instant it might be inappropriate.  Most of the time though, those around him could lock onto the attitude he was presenting to the general public, and they tended to copy it.  This is how the four, then five members of Nazgul appeared striding down the hallways.

There were triggers to this seemingly conflicting part of his personallity.  Like most people, scenery had a profound effect, but also how he thought he 'should' be acting.  Unlike most people, he didn't have much for role models because the two most important people in his life weren't much to look up to.  However, he'd seen enough holo-movies over the years to think he was potraying the correct emotion.

Trevor, the 'new guy' in Shazam's eyes, had just caught up to the quad as they entered into the series of dark alleys leading to the breifing room.  So far, the SC hadn't revealed much of what this mission was involved with.  Why?  He'd found over the last couple of months the squadron seemed more attentive if they didn't know anything ahead of time.  Especially Darius...  He would sit in the back, or at times come close to arrive late simply because he thought he knew every twist and turn.  Ironic considering his apparent attention to detail when it comes to ordinary things...

Two hallways down they'd reached a set of steps that seemed very awkward because every single other stage in the ship ended with a lift.  This meant the breifing room was only around the corner, Shazam could already see the golden light permeate the bitter darkness ahead, like the sun melting an ice cube.

"Boys, pay very close attention.  Don't be embaressed to take notes," he said upon reaching the open door, everyone but Trevor listened to this comment.

"It appears the other half of Nazgul Squadron has arrived..." Henson's voice rang out from the center of the small auditorium; he was standing with his body towards what appeared to be Raze Squadron on the far side and the trio of Nazgulians they were meant to meat up with.  Henson had his head slightly lifted in their direction but turned it away as they took thier seats in the midsection of the barely filled stands.

"We are all here.  Excellent.  I shall start with a simple introduction to those who do not know me..." His dark brown eyes peered cooly into the crowd as he removed his hands from the podium and put them behind his back.  "I am Vice Admiral Roger Henson.  You need only to know that my expertise lie in what we are about to embark upon..."  Everyone seemed to glance at eachother as he announced his rank.  It was a little surprising to see a man of such rank aboard a ship of this size in a mission of seemingly little importance.  Shazam hadn't even taken notice of his superior rank when talking to him, or even reading his letter, thus they're was a curious eyebrow lift.  Plus they're was the carefree way in which he dressed, no wonder everyone was surprised, he dressed like a simple ship captain...  Slightly opposing the stereotypical superficial officer, upon closer obvservation one might have noticed his boots were shined and his hair was perfectly trimmed, an idiosyncrasy among almost all officers.

"Now then, as you may..." he glanced at the Nazgul SC," or may have not been told.  This is a recovery mission.  And as you might now be perceiving, a very important..." he put particular emphasis on the last word," Mission."  No one stirred.

"Right, we are venturing as far as Nar Shadda today.  As you probably know, we don't have the resources, or man power to overtake such a planet.  So, we will simply do our best to retreive something..."  The vice admiral slipped his left hand out from under the podium and flipped a switch.  As he spoke, a hologram of Nar Shadda appeared in blue.

"We will arrive just outside of the planet, as will the Sentinal Landing craft.  Nazgul Squadron will run escorts in TIE class fighters while Raze Squadron remains aboard the ship.  Immedietly following our entrance, we shall depart again at a designated meeting point ten minutes out of hyperspace.  If we are tracked and engaged, Raze will assist in the defense of the 'Canton'..."  Henson clicked through a series of movements on the holoimage, the Canton jumping in, then out and Nazgul escorting the Sentinal towards the planet.

"Nazgul will need only to escort the landing craft down to the planet at the designated point, which is with your squadron commander," he guestured towards Shazam once again," and you will defend the area for as long as it takes to get our package out.  We do not expect too much NR air-to-air because their air base availability is drastically hindered due to rogue pirates and other associated crime syndicates.  Thus, the skies belong to those who take command...  And keep it."  The vice admiral had been walking around with his back to the group of pilots, but as he ended his last sentance he clapped his hands together and slowly spun to face each of them.  It seemed as if he spoke to the imperials individually, which was probably the reason for his ability to keep the attention of the entire group.

"What we are likely to face outside the planet is not necessarilly known.  You may encounter any series of uglies, from Die-Wings to Clutches... However, make it past these opponents and you should be fine.  Our knowledge leads us to beleive that they will not invade the actual airspace of the planet for fear of thier own groups' security.  Nar Shadda is a dangerous place for anyone.  Even those who live there.  Keep yourselves aware of all times and remember that there is more at stake than you know.  Call us in on the private frequency when you are ready...  We arrive in an hour and a half...  Fly smart everyone."  And with that, the black pants of the officer swished in a perfect fashion and the man left the room to the pilots...

(Okay, I need to actually read through this thing all the way to correct grammer and spelling errors, but the breifing will stay basically the same.  I'll probably reword and modify the outside writing a bit.  Anyone who hasn't gotten to post yet, you can enter yourself in before the breifing then make a post taking place afterwords.  Lets keep it up.)

An hour and a half eh? Well, thats about enough time for me to fit in a hour of sleep before we fly. Trevor thought to himself as the Vice Admiral Finished his briefing and left them room. Most of the pilots from both squadrons had gathered into small groups and were chatting about the upcoming mission, or from the bits of conversation Trevor picked up on his way out, Just about anything that they could think of. Just as Trevor was walking past on of the groups closer to the door, a hand grabbed his shoulder.

"Where are you going Trevor? Don`t want to stay and talk?" Shazam asked him, removing his hand from Trevor`s shoulder and putting it in his pocket.

"Nah, I`m not in the mood right now. I think I`m just going to take a quick nap before we leave." He said as politely as he could, with a quick smile. "Thanks for the offer though."

"Alright." Shazam replied, nodding his head.

Now, to find my way back to my quarters. Trevor thought, scratching his head, and heading back the way he had come before the briefing. After a few minutes of walking, Trevor found his room, just as he had left it, and gave his R5 a quick nudge as he walked in.

"Wake me up in about 45 minutes, OK R5?" Trevor asked the droid as he pulled off his boots and lay down on the bunk. R5 gave a series of beeps in confirmation of the request, and shut the door before wheeling over to his corner and stopping there.

Trevor was asleep within seconds. Being the way he was, space travel took a lot out of him, even though it was something he was more used to then travel on a planet. As soon as he was asleep, he began dreaming.

"Hussar 5 to Hussar 4, Come in Hussar 4." Trevor said into the comm of his Y-wing. "I got a pirate fighter on me, and don`t think I can out maneuver him. Requesting help."

Trevor tried to aim the ion cannon on the roof of his fighter at the ugly, but the pirate just kept dodging the blasts. All of a sudden he heard sirens going off inside his cockpit. It was a missile lock! Outmaneuvering a missile in any fighter is a difficult feat, and damn near impossible in a Y-wing. Pulling a hard left, and forcing the nose of his fighter down, He almost managed to shake the missile, but it kept its lock secure.

Starting to panic, Trevor made a hard right and then forced his fighter into a dive. He then cut all throttle and applied the air brakes. The missile shot past him, and lost its lock. It was headed toward the ground, and exploded in a bright flash. Trevor pulled out of his dive, and saw Hussar 4 trying to evade a pirate fighter, which was right on his tail.

Hussar 4 was a very talented pilot, and although not as good as Trevor, he was one of the best in the squadron. He made a tight right while pulling up, and then cut his throttle and applied the air brakes. That was a huge mistake for him, because the pirate, who hadn`t figured out what was going on, ran head on into the rear of Hussar 4`s Y-Wing. The explosion that followed was amplified by the fact that Hussar 4 still had an almost full payload of bombs.

"NO! Damn!" Trevor yelled to himself, and fought to hold back the tears that were building in his eyes.

"Damn...Come on people, thats the last of them. Lets get back to the Liberty for de-brieifing." Hussar Leader said, with a small tremble in his voice.

Just as Trevor was about to turn his fighter around and head for home, he saw two more uglies on his radar.

"Hussar 5 to Hussar 1, We have some trouble still. You guys get going, me and 6 will take care of them." Trevor said into his comm, and then started to warm up his cannons.

Hussar 6 did not seem to be ready for anything, because as soon as the uglies reached them, 6 was destroyed, but not before he took out one of the uglies. That left a one on one for Trevor. Wiping his eyes for his fallen comrade, Trevor fired some quick shots at the ugly. Apparently the pilot was still celebrating his kill, because he didn`t even move out of the way of the shots, just let them hit him dead on, tearing his fighter to pieces.

With that, Trevor turned and headed for home, tears flowing down his face.

Trevor woke up with a start, and sat bolt upright in his bead. He wiped his face with his hand, because it had been sweating from his nightmare. He looked over at R5 and asked for the time. R5 responded, and Trevor realized that R5 had been trying to wake him up for the past 10 minutes.

"Alright, thanks R5, I- I got to go to the hanger now, do some pre-flight checks and stuff." Trevor said with a slight shake in his voice. He got up and grabbed his flight suit and helmet, and walked out the door, and started toward the hanger.

What could that dream have meant? Last time I had it was right before Reaper died, and He was the last member of the Hussars...Maybe I`m next. Trevor thought to himself. No, That can`t be right. Everyone but 4 and 6 were taken out by NR pilots, and we shouldn't see many of them today. O well.

With that, he turned his mind to the mission at hand, and continued toward the hanger.

Shazam felt slightly guilty for thinking of Trevor as the new guy and equally as stupid for trying to make up for it by asking, " Hey, don't you wanna talk!?"  But oh well, he tried.  Jen had gone to show Tokijin where the nearest refresher was while the rest of the squadron, excluding Trevor, remained in the amphitheatre for about twenty five minutes.  They spoke mostly about things out of the VE spectrum, but suddenly found themselves on the mission again.

"You can't tell us anything about what we're picking up?" Gladius questioned in disbeleif.

"I never even said I knew what it was," Shazam replied, kicking his feet up over another seat; they'd formed a small circle amoungst the vacant seats of the breifing room.

"Never the less, you have to know what we're picking up.  Its part of the officer's manuel..." Jack was staring up at the rounded ceiling as he made a fact of Shazam's reply.  "The commanding officer must make the assault commander aware of any and all information reguarding the mission, or that commanding officer can be court martialed..." he stated it mechanically as if this passage were written out on the ceiling.

"Than I don't wanna tell ya." Shazam ended quite honestly.

"You heard it yourselves, its gotta be somethin big.  Otherwise the Vice Admiral wouldn't be here..." Dj noted from the highest portion of the circle.  He was laying across two seperate seats, twiddling with his thumbs.

"Actually. I suppose I should tell you, our future career depends on this mission, so..." Shazam seemed to think on what he just said then continued..."  I think I just underminded the whole idea of not telling you who the subject is..."  He shook his head.

"Who?  We're talking about a person then." Darius caught Shazam's mistake immedietly.  Shazam wasn't very surprised he caught his precipitate error, more so that he would have to tell them what was going on now.  The men had a hard enough time paying attention during breifings, what good could a dead-end thought be to them?

"Alright, close in..." Shazam sat up and put his elbows on his knees, the rest of the group seemed to do the same.  "I will only tell you that the person we are attempting to retrieve is very, very important to the future of the Imperial way.  He, by himself, could completely change the way we look at warfare...  So...  Just fly smart.  We already said we won't have to get on the ground, except Dar and DJ of course..."  It wasn't too much more specific to the group, but they seemed to accept that it was all they would get from the SC.

Shazam glanced over at the holo on the wall; one hour to go.  "Right, we should go get our equipment ready," the SC stood up and stretched his arms high above his head.  What was really bothering him is what the squadron members didn't even have a slight inclination to.  Both Darius and Jack hadn't picked up on yet, so he felt it was well enough kept.  Time to get ready...

(Les keep it goin, guys.)

As Shazam stood up and stretched, Darius took a glance at his leader.  He knew there was a catch, just by looking at the commander's face.

Darius had a secret.  A secret that he planned to let nobody know as long as he lived.  His mother was a Lorrdian.  The special trait that Darius was lucky to inherit was the ability to read emotions through any kind of facial or bodily expression.  He knew when someone was lying, or hiding something important.  He could even read most sabacc faces.  To let this knowledge out, especially now, would cause distrust among his, what he now secretly calls, adopted "family".

"I'm gonna hit the 'fresher before we depart," he announced, as the squadron was leaving the room.

"Alright," Shazam replied.  "Meet in the hangar in one hour."

Darius nodded and left the room.  He walked down the corridor to his quarters, gathered some clothes and a towel, then left for the facilities.

He took his time, letting the warm water and sonic cleanser wipe all of the grime and dirt off of his body.  For once, Darius was relaxed, thinking of the time he lived on Nar Shaada, temporarily.  Of, he could only remember that he had once lived on the Smugglers Moon.  His memory was still patchy after he had an illegal brain wipe from the corrupt Admiral Nevtia.  The now imprisoned Nevtia didn't even correctly do the procedure, thus the occasional flashbacks, and blackouts as memory came back from deep storage.

He stepped out of the cubicle and discovered his clothes were missing.  "This is why I'm paranoid," he muttered to himself.  He erupted in a vertical leap, grabbing the light fixture, and punched out a ceiling panel.  Then, pulling out a dry towel, and a pair of compression shorts, he quickly dried himself and clothed himself: barely.

He burst out of the of restroom, into the corridor, to finding DJ quickly turning the corner with his stuff.  "You requested help Dar?" asked TC.  He was standing next to the door.

"Go gather my equipment and get my holdout blaster out of the refresher.  I need to be ready to go soon."

"Alrighty," the droid chimed, and went to Darius quarters to gather his gear.

Here I come, thought Darius.  He sprinted down the corridor with amazing speed and silence.  The man turned the corner so fast, he ran directly into Jen and Tokijin.  They both stared at the half-naked man, blushed, and got to their feet.

"You've seen it before Jen," said Darius as he sprinted down the corridor.  Tokijin gave Jen a shocking, suprised look.

"Kessel," said Jen, shaking her head embarrassed.  "Long story."

Lucky for Darius, the ship was small.  He closed in on DJ and took one giant leap onto the large, muscular man's back.  DJ didn't know what had even hit him.

Darius dug his thumb into the man's pressure point, managing to pinch it through the muscle, forcing DJ to his knees.  They both laughed and DJ dropped the clothes.  Darius got off and DJ turned around, expecting to see him naked, but saw the compression shorts, and giggling girls at the end of the corridor.

"You are paranoid," DJ said with a laugh.

"Thank you," replied Darius, and turned to go to his quarters.  "Ladies,"  he said politely, nodding his head as he passed the blushing, grinning girls.

Darius dressed in his quarters and gathered all of his equipment.  "Don't get into any trouble, and stay away from Jack's R2," he said to TC.  "Don't let the R2 get you either.  Incapacitate any buzz droid, but do not destroy anything of his.  If the R2 tries anything else, I'm sure one of my modifications that you possess can take care of it.  I just don't want a bill for fifty buzz droids.  Or a new R2 unit.  Call back up if you have to."  TC nodded in acknowledgement, knowing what to do, and what the reinforcments were.

He walked over to his R7 unit in the corner.  "Keep an eye on TC, will ya?"  The small droid beeped in compliance.

With that said, Darius left for the hanger.

(During Darius's post...)

After Jack had left the briefing room, he ventured back to his quarters for some resting. He was met by his R2 astromech droid unit, who was beeping away crazily.

"What is it, Artoo?" Jack asked his droid.

R2-X7 beeped a short reply, which Jack only caught one word of, since the droid was beeping too fast.

The word was "message".

"Okay, Artoo, play it."

Suddenly, a holo of Jack's wife appeared before him. She seemed worried and a bit upset, almost as if Jack had died in a mission and was no longer living, but just a specter of what he had been.

"Jack," Alexia began, "the reason I'm worried is because you keeping going off on these missions. I know you're going to Nar Shaddaa. Just be careful. You see, not only do you need to stay alive so we can always be together, but also so you can-" Suddenly, the message cut off.

Now Jack needed to know what Alexia had said. But it was mission time. Jack gathered his pilot gear and went off to the hangar to prepare his TIE Aggressor. R2 quickly beeped a question.

"Try to fix it while I'm gone, Artoo. I need to know what Alexia said," Jack said as he ran down the corridor.

Then, when he was near the hangar, he kept thinking about what Alexia had said to him that he was unable to hear.

(Okay, it's an odd post, but it will make sense after we're back from the mission.)

Picking up his bags he looked over to where Darius just went and still noticed that he was still half naked. "hey Dar dont you think you should put some clothes on before you walk out into the hanger". I said

"why would i need to do that DJ". Darius said looking around the room and then looking down at himself.

"well the hanger is pretty cold and the floor is metal so i think it would be a good idea to put at least some shoes on" I mused

"hmm guess your right, but I dont think the girls mind ast all" Dar said while laughing.

"Sure they do Casanova, you go and get some clothes and ill meet you in the hanger say 5 min ok."

"ya DJ ok" Darius said while turning around and walking back to his room.

Picking up my bags i headed out to the hanger. stepping into the hanger i put down my bags and checked if i got everything. pulling out my check list I started to chek the stuff off. Primary weapon check, Secondary weapon check, scouting equipment check, Music check, teddy bear check, pilot gloves check, shades check.

"ok thats everything" I said. looking around the place i noticed that I was the only one there "hmm wonder where everyone is" I asked my self.

Just as I finished saying that Darius walked in the hanger. "hey Dar looking better than before."

"thanks DJ" he said

"well since its me and you driving that thing, I just wanted to let you know that I call driver" I said while laughing

"WHAT no fair i wanted to drive DJ come on man be a pal" Darius said.

" ok ok how about i drive half way and you get the other half deal, plus i got some sick music that i want to play".

"ok Deal, and what kind of music we talking about here."

"you will fin out soon enough." I said with a smile.

"What are you doing?"  Taylsha demanded as she left the refresher stand.  Art was in the middle of the room packing his flight bag.

"Getting ready for a mission."  He said dryly.

"I thought you were on limited duty as a consultant now."  She said rather sternly.  Art's injuries from two missions ago had not completely healed and the intensity of the last mission had set back his recovery.  His still walked with a bit of a limp and had back spasms from time to time.

"I am, but I'm getting tired of being cooped up and doing nothing."  He replied.

"If you took the bacta treatments like the medics recommend you wouldn't have this problem."  She said.  He turned towards her and winced when he put his full weight on his bad leg.  "See?"  She pointed out in a stern yet loving way.  "Besides, you're getting too old for this.  You should be working in logistics or something along those lines, you have the mind for it."  She continued.

"I'm only thirty."  Art replied.  "Besides, I'm feeling much better and want to get back into the cockpit.  I still enjoy flying in combat, even if not as good as I once was."

"You were better when you were half-drunk on missions?"  She demanded, referring back to his earlier career where he would drink before missions.

"Alright enough.  I'll be fine honey.  I'm too young for retirement and not enthused about being a desk officer."  Art said, trying to end the conversation.

"You're wealthy enough to retire.  You could always go back to smuggling."  Taylsha continued.

"And that's not dangerous?"  He asked.

"You're smart enough not to get caught.  Besides, who says you have to smuggle, you can run the operation."

"And you're willing to give up your career for that just so I stop flying a fighter?"  Art asked skeptically.  Taylsha just stared.

"Look, I know you're worried but I promise you that I'll be alright.  Besides, I'm only flying missions.  The training and simulations I am not doing so I am letting my body heal."  Art said soothingly.  Taylsha nodded, kissed him and left his room.  Art finished packing his bag, suited up into his flight gear, grabbed his gunbelt, and headed out for the Nazgul area.

Ten minutes later, he was in front of Shazam's office.

"Come in."  Shazam called from inside.  Art entered and saw Shazam in a half zipped flight suit looking over some papers on his desk.  "What the hell are you doing?"  He asked when he saw Art.

"Need a wing today?"  Art asked.

"I thought you weren't flying anymore for the next while."  Shazam said.  "What changed?"

"Have you ever stopped flying for a while?"  Art asked.

"Yes."

"Did you like it?"  Art continued.

"I hated it."  Shazam replied, a smile creeping on his face.

"Now you know why I'm here."  Art finished.

"Excellent.  Read this."  Shazam said, handing him a synopsis of the briefing.  "We have to be in the hanger in twenty minutes so read quickly while I finish getting ready."

"The way of war is a way of deception. When able, feign inability; when deploying troops, appear not to be. When near, appear far; when far, appear near. Lure with bait; strike with chaos. If the enemy is full, be prepared. If strong, avoid him. If he is angry, disconcert him. If he is weak, stir him to pride. If he is relaxed, harry him; if his men are harmonious, split them. Attack where he is unprepared; appear where you are unexpected. This is victory in warfare; it cannot be divulged in advance. Trevor arrived in the hanger, and at first thought he was alone, but as he approched his fighter he could see DJ and Darius arguing over somthing, one of them with a checklist in hand. Trevor got to his fighter and walked behind oneof the wings, so he could not be seen. He proceded to change into his flight suit, and imerged, helmet under arm, from behind the wing.

He climbed into the cockpit and set his helmet on the floor, and started checking over all the systems.

"Primary blasters, check; Shields, almost non-existant, but check; Engines, check. Looks like most everything is green. Comm system, check." He said to himself aloud, checking for a green light on each item. After he was done checking everything, He climbed back out of the fighter, and sat down, leaning his back against the shiny surface of the TIE`s wing.

Trevor, being a very quiet person, who would much rather listen then speak, chose to stick close to his fighter and avoid the other pilots, whereas a regular pilot would strike up a conversation about past battles, paychecks, or anything he could think of.

Insted of wasting the next 15 or 20 minutes waiting for the mission to start, Trevor pulled his wrist comm out of his bag and powered it on. He set it to record, and started making a short voice message for his girlfriend, who was supposed to be en-route to an Imperial registration building, where she was wanting to apply as a cook on the same home-ship as Trevor.

"Hey honey, hows it going? Any luck with getting the job? Well, I hope you did. Anyways, we are just about to head out, and I just thought I`d message you and tell you I love you, and hopfully I`ll see you sometime soon. Bye."

With that, he selected who to send it to and hit 'Send'. He then powered down the comm unit and shoved it into one of the pockets on his flight suit.

Surprised as he was, Shazam was glad to see Art around despite his obvious difficulties.  His old companion did his best to hide any hint as to what his irritation points where, but the Nazgul SC seemed to know most of them.  There were a few things that he'd gathered from simple observation of his dear freind.  For instance, don't talk about his wife in any suggestive way, not matter how irksome she may appear to be through Art's accounts.  He didn't take too kindly to such a person on the occasion Shazam remembered.  Never had he seen someone weild office politics so well; there were no suspentions, but emotional damage seemed to be done.

Fifteen minutes now, Shazam had practically counted every minute off as he constantly glanced toward the clock on his far wall.  The 'office' he'd been assigned to was about as shabby as a lower-Coruscant restrant's restroom.  The walls seemed to have been matted down with years of bad ventilation no doubt from the nearby kitchen.  In the past few days the Nazgul SQ supposed himself in an oil vat while the rest of the squadron ran around the ship 'exploring' as they called it.  There was a time when you would be reamed for running around the hallways of a new ship, thought Shazam lovingly of his own rookie career.

On his desk, there were several insurence policies.  Normally, insurence is automatic because, c'mon, its the military.  You die, your dead, if you get captured, well your crap out of luck.  These policies were more for the package they were trying to retreive though, which was in itself, very different.

In order to protect himself from neglegence charges, the VEN had already hired a lawyer to present the agreements given to them by the parenting company.  Shazam thought it funny when JMac had given him 'neglegence' agreements, but suddenly seemed to agree it was for the best considering he'd forgotten about twenty seven pages up until this point.

Ten minutes left...  It took three minutes to get down there at a safe 'sprint' and about five minutes to get checked in.  So, two minutes.

He scribbled away with a heavy silver pen he'd found in the overused desk just moments before; seven pages left...  You gotta be kiddin me...  Who'd have known you had to initial and signature so many damned times on a single page, he thought.

He glanced back up at the clock.  Less than a minute...  Shazam groaned and finished up the line he was already slashing though.  He hoped the last three pages wasn't too important as he dropped the pen and picked up the small book he'd just deficated upon with blue ink.

Practically jumping over a foldout chair, the SC zipped up his flight suit the remainder of its path and clung to his papers like it was his most valuable possesion.  Sprinting down the open hallways he suddenly saw Hensons' little boy doing the same coming his way.  Shazam lifted a brow as the youngyun reached him.

"Your policies?" he queried and outstretched his hand.  Roger was really tryin to get his kid into the military way, thought the pilot.

"Yeaaaa...  Can you get that to your dad for me?" the kid didn't seem to aprove of Shazam's innability to keep the conversation formal as he narrowed his eyes.  Reguardless, he nodded his head sternly and accepted the papers, sliding them into a manilla envelope he'd concealed underneath his shirt.  Really, really tryin, Shazam ended his train of thought and began to rush towards the hanger...

(I really wanna get Jen and Tokijin in the hanger as well as Art before we take off.  If Art can't get one in, I'll write him in anyways.  Get yourselves in your ships and get checked off guys, we're about ready.)

TC walked up the ramp into the ship, carrying the rest of Darius' "clothing".  "Here you are," he said as the metallic being gently placed Darius' combat armor and other assorted weapons that he didn't have time to prep before he had to report in.  He didn't really care if he flew or not.  He'd rather sit back and talk with the commandos or clean his sniper rifle.

The pilot quickly took off the clothes he was wearing and changed into his combat thinsuit, black jumpsuit, personal armor, and vest he had just acquired through and recent supply shipment to the ship.  Next, came the missile launcher and wrist lasers, pistol holsters, hidden holdout blasters, several vibroblades, and slung his treasure E-11 marksman blaster rifle over his shoulder.  The other guns and weapons he placed in the pilots locker behind the cockpit.

"Here," he said, handing his droid the discarded clothes.  "Take these to my quarters, fold them nicely, and put them back in my duffle bag."

"Gotcha," he replied.

"And remember what I told you about that R2 unit," Darius said on a more serious note.

TC sassed off, "yeah, i got it."  He turned and walked downt he ramp.

Dawning his black cloak, Darius muttered to himself, "little pow wow talk and we're off."

*After the Briefing*

Tokijin now knew the importance of this mission and she didn't want to screw it up. Whenever she had spare time she was either running the simulator or reading books on the fighters. There was no way she was going to mess up her new life in the Navy.

Tokijin sat down, slumped in her chair staring up at the celling. She felt like she was going to take an exam when the result of everything important depends on how much she studied. She ran over in her head over and over again what Nagzul's mission was and what they had to do. She was getting too stressed out.

She ran her hands through her hair and groaned. It was then that Jen Knight appeared standing next to her and set a reasurring hand on her shoulder.

"Tokijin, don't worry. You'll do fine. Come on. I'll show you where the refreshers are. It'll do you some good at a time like this." Jen smiled down at her, removing her hand from her shoulder.

Tokijin sighed and stood up. She was right. She really did need a time out. She returned the smile and nodded. Jen turned around and started walking out of the amphilthreater assuming Tokijin was following her.

They walked side by side down the hall, Jen explained things to her.

Tokijin felt relaxed now. She knew she had friends. She thought back to her home planet and shuddered. Never would she go back.

They turned a corner and suddenly Darius appeared out of no where and ran into Tokijin and Jen, knocking them over.

"Oof!" Tokijin let out a noise as she hit the ground. She looked up at who had knocked her down to find a barely-covered Darius. She blushed and they both stood up.

"You've seen it before Jen," said Darius as he sprinted down the corridor

Tokijin gave her a shocked, surprised looked and waited for her to speak.

"Kessel," said Jen, shaking her head embarrassed.  "Long story."

Tokijin shuddered, glad he was at least some what covered.

They continued to walk, but in silence and they reached the refresher.

"Thanks Jen. I guess I'll see you in the hanger."

Jen smiled, nodded and walked off, leaving Tokijin to her thoughts.

The hanger bay was very warm as he entered it, Shazam noticed.  He'd come at almost a dead sprint the last two hallways to make sure he could get checked in without holding things up.  The element of surprise was still a notable one that Nazgul would certainly need to use to get through this unscathed.

The SC had his eyes on his assigned TIE Interceptor, but they slowly started to shift to the side of the hanger to check for the mechanic he'd visited earlier.  She wan't there but to Shazam's surprise, Henson was.  Shazam stopped in his tracks and watched as he approached him, still surprised he wouldn't be in the bridge at a time like this.

"I heard you had a fighter open..." he stated rather than asked as he reached him.  Shazam held his hand to his ear to hear as the fighter's engines prowled in the background, no doubt the cause of the increasing temperature.

"I did, yes.  Arturus is on board now, I thought you knew that..." Shazam said, raising his voice a little as he led his old friend to his fighter, still trying to keep from wasting to much time chatting.  "Why?  You wanna fly!" he grinned at the thought.

"I need to be up in the bridge of course, but I do actually have someone who would like to fly with you.  His name is..."  Roger didn't have to say anything else as Shazam laid eyes on the man he hadn't even noticed somehow.

"Warren Dimmias...  I know."  He suddenly forgot about his time restraints and stopped to shake hands with the man.  "I wish I would have known you were aboard, I'd have asked to meet you earlier..."  The dark man smiled, his features weren't as sharp as Shazam remembered from the pictures, but that was probably on account of several things.  His hair was the same though, kind of long and fluffed with some of his partially covering his ears.  It was unlike Shazam's hair in that it was still matted down while seemingly puffy.  The SC noted this as he withdrew his hand...

"I don't have a fighter pilots equipment on anyways.  I'd only drag you down.  But, maybe if you don't mind, I could help fly your Sentinal Landing Craft over there..." his voice was kind of rough at first, but smoothed warmly he indicated the ship Darius and DJ were entering.

"As it happens, we do need a third man.  You should be okay with what your wearing.  Just make sure to buckle-up..." he smiled and shook the man's hand one last time; he felt as if he were meeting a legend...  The smile that was returned to him seemed to have a resolute sadness to it despite his best efforts to seem joyful.  "Introduce yourself to the pilots and tell Darius he can call me if he isn't sure of you.  Glad to have you with us..."  Shazam went to the hatch of his fighter, not a moment to lose.  That out to raise his spirits, thought he as the darkness enclosed around him.  A few lights jumped out at him in the darkness and seemed to direct his hands as he flipped switches and asked for check-ins.

Time to go.

**  Over at the Sentinal  **

The man so well known as 'The Survivor of Decta' jumped onto the entrance ramp of the landing craft as it was just beginning to rise.  Quickly ascending to the level of the two pilots, the one to his right in the pilots seat was surprised and the one straight ahead turned feirce eyes towards him.

"Who are you?" an almost cold voice querried sharply to the him.

"I assume your Darius...  "  Warren noticed he had kept one of his arms behind his back.  "Shazam told me to tell you that if you had a problem with me boarding or was unsure of me that you could call him over the com..."

"You still havn't told us who you are..." the seated at the console said looking up at him; he and Darius seemed to share the same frame of mind at that moment.

"Ah, yes.  I am Warren Dimmias, and I am here to help you pilot this craft to Nar Shadda safely."  Darius seemed to recognize the name and replaced his weapon in the sack he was originally setting in a cabinet.  DJ on the otherhand obviosly recognized him, but for fear of some disapproving look he held back his questions and simply said-

"You can be co-pilot."  Darius thought this strange but then decided it mattered not to him and he hadn't wanted to do much in the first place.

"I suppose that makes me navigator..." Dairus closed the compartment and opened the door leading to the holding chamber.  "We're about to lift-off, grab hold of something..."  Then he allowed it to slide back and took his seat.

"Your not actually intending on playing this thing while we fly, are you?" Dimmias motioned towards the music player and Dj shook his head slightly.  Luckilly he'd already let Darius here whatever music he'd been so enthused about so he wasn't upset about putting it away.  He was just happy to be meeting a local legend.  The man appeared to be strong in the way he sat upright in his seat and buckled up without having to move the belt end around to fit into the outlet.  There was a quick click and he nodded to Dj to start the ship, as if he needed his permission.

"Right, I'm Dj, by the way..."

(Alright, les ride...)

Art walked into the hanger quickly but in a rather stiff posture.  He adjusted his gunbelt as he went to stop it from pressing on the wrong spot of his back.  The crash he had had in the mountain valley two missions ago not only caused three breaks in his leg, it had also caused significant muscle damage to his lower back.  It was healing, just slowly, and it made him stiff and sore most of the time.

After doing a quick visual inspection of his interceptor, Art climbed up on top and dropped down into the cockpit.  Wincing as he hit the bottom, he shook the pain out of his head and preceeded to secure his flight bag.  A few minutes later, he was strapped in with the systems online.

"Nazgul 2 reporting, everything green."  He said over the com.

"Roger Art."  Shazam replied.  Art sat back, trying to get as comfortable as possible.  Unless they engaged in combat, he was going to try and avoid the rigid position usually taken by pilots.  Almost like my drinking days.  Art thought as he waited for the signal to go.  Anytime now...

DJ showed Warren the cockpit of the shuttle and gave him time to familiarize himself with the controls.  He then came out to talk to Darius quickly.  "You hear Art is coming along?"

"What?" Darius quickly questioned.  "I thought he had a temporary office job?"

"I guess not," DJ replied and turned back and entered the cockpit.

Darius pulled out his personal comlink and dialed in Art.  "Hey, this is Darius, you think you can handle this?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine," said Art as calmly as he could.  Darius could tell he was in some pain though.

"Alright, I'll take your word for it.  Darius out."

The young pilot wouldn't have usually been so protective, but considering that on that particular mission, Darius was the one that rescued Art, he couldn't help but worry a little.  Darius never accepted any credit for rescuing the older pilot.  He just said that he was doing his job, which was exactly how he felt.  He had explained that you can't pick who gets killed or shot down in war.  He had disobeyed direct orders to go pick up Art, only because he knew he could finish the job without any loss of life.  As a former mercenary, that's all he knew how to do.  That's how the pilot use to earn his money.

Putting his comlink away, a voice came from above, "something between you two."  It was Warren.

"Just saved his life once," Darius replied cooly.  He knew who the legend was, and respected what him for what he did, and what had happened to him.  But, he was going to refused to give him special treatment because he was a legend.

"Who are you, Darius Pursius?" Warren questioned in a quiet, mystical sullen way.

"Stick around.  Maybe you'll learn something," he replied, and turned, and situated himself in the rear turret of the shuttle.

(Sorry for the wait guys...here we go!)

"Kessel," said Jen, shaking her head embarrassed. "Long story."

"Yeah...uh you can tell me about that one later .." Keeping her eyes to the floor, her cheeks grew crimson with each passing moment.

"Yes." Jen suppressed a soft chuckle. "Much later." She closed her eyes, hands massaging her temples.

One of her flight members had just come running down the hall, barely covered, and knocked Tokijin and herself off their feet. Now, she wouldn't have minded if Tokijin hadn't been present. She knew these guys well enough that barely anything they did surprised her anymore...but Darius's words were, unfortunately, quite true. Tokijin just met her friends, and she wasn't sure what the new girl would think. Seeing one of your squadron mates, running naked down the hall, was not something you saw everyday. She dropped her hands in reluctance. Her headache would leave her soon enough. She had other things to worry about. Turning to Toki, she nodded and started toward the refreshers once again.

"You know, the guys usually don't do things like that. At least, not all the time, but it might be something you'll have to get used to." Jen tried smiling, but her muscles fought against her, turning her nice gesture into a look of annoyance.

The girl rose her eyes off the floor to meet the XO's, stuffing her hands into her pockets, almost ripping the inside fabric. "It's ok. It wasn't that big of a deal." Silently, her eyes slid down to the floor once more.

Jen sighed and let her shoulders relax as they reached the refreshers. Maybe later she'd get to jump in too. Having that warm water awaken her tense muscles and to feel clean again, but she needed to head back to her room and ready her things for their next mission. They didn't have too much time till they took off. "Here they are. Make sure to be back in the hanger in half an hour. Your first mission awaits." Jen eyed the girl and nodded, truly smiling. She hadn't been lying when she told Tokijin she would be a fine pilot.

"Thanks Jen. I guess I'll see you in the hanger."

"Cya." Tokijin's determination was already shining through. The girl only had to realize her own potential. Jen took off down the opposite hallway, her room almost in sight. Jen stopped in front of the metal door and clutched onto the frame. Her feet had almost taken her farther down the corridor. "I'm not awake today..maybe I do need that shower." She slid her ID card through the lock and stuck it into her back pocket. Waiting a few moments, she tapped her foot and tried the lock again, this time clicking sound arose and the door slid open. Jen collected some items from her mess of a room, stuffed them into a small bag and grabbed a towel and her flight suit. She had to make it quick, they were leaving in less than twenty minutes and Shazam wouldn't appreciate anyone showing up late..especially his XO.

She stepped out of the refresher and rushed the towel over the curves of her body, the towel growing increasingly damp. The shower was exactly what Jen needed. She was ready for the mission that lay only minutes away. Throwing the wet towel to the side, she grabbed her flight suit and slipped it on.

Walking into the hanger, Jen zipped up the rest of her flight suit. Not a good idea to leave it open..She weaved her way in between ships, watching her reflection stretch and shrink on the outside of the TIEs. Reaching her own Interceptor, she spotted Darius and someone she didn't recognize. Her lavender eyes met his dark ones. She tried to look away but couldn't avoid his gaze. He smiled, but her body stayed still, and as quickly as it started he  returned his attention back to Darius. Jen closed her eyes and shook her head. "Who was that guy.." She shrugged and climbed into her fighter, adjusting in her seat as she buckled up and flipped on the control panel. The lights flashed on and she sat back, clearing her head. This was it. Another mission and she way ready.

Shazam adjusted in his seat for a moment, then rolled his neck before dawning the imperial pilot's helmet.  It always seemed awkward to him in the way everyone else just had life support while he looked like he was hooked to resperators.  Of course, this annoyence had ceased to encumber his flying or hinder his vision as it was quite clear through the little lenses.

In front of him, his gloves had just put on and were already going to work as Shazam issued the check-in.  He waited to hear everyone in the squadron, excluding Darius and DJ of course, then reported in himself.  The thought suddenly occured to him, they didn't have a name for the landing craft...

"Sentinal, we need a callsign for you.  Make one up, hurry up..." Shazam said anxiously; they were only seconds from exiting hyperspace.

"Right...  Um..." Dj seemed to ponder on it like it was a rainy day activity when he was cut off by a calm but definete voice-

"Delta of course..." It was Dimmias suggesting an obvious military alphabet name.  Shazam didn't think on it twice and simply replied-

"Fine."  There was a flash and the stars melded back from streams of white to glowing embers in the darkness.

"Nazgul 1, you are clear." An opperator announced and Shazam disengaged from his holdings to drop out of the hanger like a drop of water creeping off a plant.  As this little speck sped away from its origin, other similar molecules dropped in behind the substance as it continued its descent through the vacumm.  It was rather beautiful as far as take-offs in space go, a single waving line suddenly turning into three rows of twirling tops.  A ship much larger than any of the fighters slowly made its way out of the cruiser and pulled up around it as the fighters made a large loop to return to it.  There seemed to be a halo around the Strike-Class cruiser as the group reapproached- Nar Shadda lay just beyond it, glowing steadilly as if forever undisturbed.

"Alright, flight one...  We're going to make a point to this formation and be the first to intercept any opposing fighters." Shazam pulled back on the controls a little to guide the group over the top of the cruiser; in the bridge Henson was saluting as they passed.  "Nazguls five and eight will be covering the sides while nine and ten cover the back..." Behind Flight one, Jen was seperating away from Tokijin as if to say, "Good Luck..."  Jack and Gladius seemed to be right at home in the back though, and simply glided to their positions.  Shazam finished his shpeal with," Carrier Delta, we will be your escort today. Please keep your seats in the upright positions and make sure your safety restraints are in place at all times..."

(Alright, I gotta go to bed...  I'll edit tomarrow if I must to extend, but lets see if you can work off this I suppose.  Rock on.)

*before Shazam's post*

Tokijin finished her time in the refresher. She had a half an hour. Ten minutes is all she would need and she would make it if she ran. She had forgotten her towel but just air dried for a few minutes and put back on her uniform. She hurried out of the refresher and fast walked down the hall but ran when no one was around.

She reached her room and waited for the door to slide open. She ran inside, grabbed her towel and dried her hair. She pulled out of her uniform and put on her flight suit.

She pulled her hair into a ponytail to get it out of her face. She looked at a clock.

She sighed. "Whew. Still have ten minutes to get to the hanger." She looked at a mirror that hung on the wall by the door. She looked at herself and a smile escaped her lips. She was ready and she could do it. Change had taken over her and she wasn't the scared girl she had been before. Like Jen had told her, her first mission awaited.

She door slid open before her and she ran out into halls where no one was around. She just had an erge to run. To escape her past and head right for the future. She slowed to a stop as she reached the hanger. She looked around at all the people and walked over to her intercepter, jumped in and made sure all systems were a go. She leaned back in her seat as she buckled up. She could only wait now.

Darius explored the line of sight for the rear turret.  To be prepared, he had practice shooting in the simulators.  It had been a long time since he had been in a rear-facing turret.  He watched as the Strike cruisers slowing shrunk against the layout of stars and nebulas.

To pass time, he quadruple checked his gunnery systems, and tried to remember all the constelations that formed from this part of the galaxy.  It wasn't a long time until first contact, but Darius often got bored fast.

"Alright, here they come," declared Shazam from his interceptor.

"What are we looking at sir," questioned Tokijin.

Warren cut in, "according to long range scanners, I've picked up two picket ships, and two squadron of fighters.  Imaging shows that the picket ships and moderately armed with Arakyd concussion missle launchers, and two quad laser turrets.  The fighters are a mix of cloakshape and planetary interceptors."

"Carrier Delta, keep clear of the picket ships," ordered Shazam.  "They will try to intercept you.  Escort, nothing touches that ship.  You are on that shuttle like wingstingers on a piece of fruit.  The rest of the squadron will take care of the rest."

"Enemy fighters coming in hot, three minutes till contact," declared Warren.

"Fly smart people," said Darius.  He prepared himself for the fight.

"Better make haste to get planetside before we get under too much fire," Art noted to the landing craft as he floated out a little ways to cover as much area as possible.

"I figure maybe seven minutes to reach atmosphere at this pace...  How much did you wanna speed up?" Dj queried into the com.  To his right, Dimmias again had an answer-

"All the way of course...  We won't be patroling the skies like the rest of the group so we won't be burning fuel.  The fastest way is the best way in this case.  Until we reach the atmospher of course..." He didn't look at Dj who was actually piloting as he pushed the double throttle forward.  "That outta do it..." He finally turned and glanced at the pilot then smiled innocently.

Dj scratched his head then said," Heading towards vector two-five.  Try to crowd us on the right if you must," he said as the two squadrons approached at a threatening rate.  Just ahead, right after they'd passed the cruiser, the planet had come into full view.  In some ways, it was reminiscent to Coruscant with the glow of lights all around the planet, but Nar Shadda seemed to be less great in the same way.  Its buildings were sleezy and not very well coordinated with those surrounding it, a very obvious detail as they could even be seen from space.  The spires peirced the skies and seemed to absorb the nothingness around it as it began to grow in the viewports of the imperials.

"Alright, Flight one, you are authorized to use missles if they're impossible to miss with.  We still need to conserve because as you may have guessed, it's ganna be kind of a long day.  If we can be in and out within an hour and a half, we'll be ahead of schedule." Shazam spun around about a hundred meters in front of the landing craft.  Just ahead of him were three seperate lines, similar to that of Nazguls, attempting to curve in front of them.  Shazam seemed to turn the controls of the sentinal with his own as he guided them at a slightly sharper angle.  By doing so he was slightly minimizing his own weapon's envelope and increasing the size of his opponets, but if they could beat them out, he would be satisfied.

"Nazgul one, it looks like they're going to try and bar us.  Look, they're continuing straight ahead rather than trying to engage us...  Looks like trouble."  Shazam appreciated the commentation little as he realized they would have to engage reguardless of the fact they'd had a head start.

"Alright, Delta, go back to your original course, we're going to try and dive right though them.  Nazguls four and eight, you'll be taking our position as we turn to engage the barricade.  Nazguls nine and ten, go on ahead and take Flight two's..." Shazam cut off as he threw his hands to the controls to align with the now forming line of planetary fighters.  Not quite what he expected in fighter craft, but just the same...  He'd rather not think of them as normal starfighter pilots.  Pirates get a little more desperate than your average aviator, he reminded himself and steadied his hands.

"Hold your positions..." Shazam said as he jumped the throttle to maximum to get some more distance in between himself and the escort.  Dead on in front of him, three seperate fighters began they're run, slowly picking up speed and the two outsides switching with eachother from time to time.  After Shazam was about two-hundred and fifty meters from the landing craft he began a continuous looping motion about the center point- the foolish pirate right in front of him.  Twirling all the while, Shazam switched to missles and awaited a barrage of fighter fire.  Behind him, Nazguls two and three were waiting patiently, not entirelly sure what they're SC was doing.

The colors on the fighters ahead of him suddenly became clear as they began opening fire, not taking too much interest in his looping patterns or his speed.  The two lines that were originally with them had gone they're seperate ways to try and pursue the fighters from a different angle.  They had no interest in the Sentinal until the fightes were good and gone.

Shazam dropping from his usual loop, pulled into the twelve-o'clock of his nearest enemy and got his missle lock as it tried to play chicken with him.  Nearly being fried didn't bother him as much as nearly losing his missle lock to avoid the bolts.  Keeping his speed he let off a single projectile...  There was maybe five seconds where silence overcame everything else, then a shake as the missle colided with the shields of the craft.  Shazam pulled up hard, then barreled to face downwards upon his foes as he past, then pulled up again, this time actually going down...  Basically, he'd pulled a drop manuver over the his oppenets to try and gain a position.  He noticed his desired effect as the two fighters surrounding the center one pulled out a little ways to avoid any reverberations on their own craft.

Art and Trevor pulled together as the two outside pirates tried to form up and focus they're fire on the center of the Nazgul formation.  Shazam had just finished his hard loop to fall in behind the foe he'd just weakened substantially.  The fighter seemed to understand the imperial had come up behind him, just awakening from the bombardment, because he was now trying to lead Shazam astray.  Something he knew would force him off his tail.

The Nazgul SC broke off noticing his plot and decided to pursue his other two pirates heading for the landing craft.  Art and Trevor must have been doing something correctly because the enemy fighter to the right was suddenly losing speed and seemed to be shuddering.  Shazam guessed that Dar had given it a little love tap on its way out.

"Alright, Flight one...  Lets form up and take these guys down.  Everyone else, deny these people the pleasure of collecting our ships..."

(Les go.)

*** During the Launch ***

Trevor donned his helmet and gloves, and powered up all the TIE`s systems. He awaited clearance, and as soon as he was acknowledge, he detached his fighter and drifted into space, close behind Shazam and Art. He looked to his left and could just see the tips of another Interceptor`s wings through the split wind of his Interceptor. It was either Jen or 'the new girl', Tokijin, but he couldn't tell which. He saw the carrier float lazily past them, and then Shazam started issuing orders.

""Alright, flight one...We're going to make a point to this formation and be the first to intercept any opposing fighters. Nazguls five and eight will be covering the sides while nine and ten cover the back... Carrier Delta, we will be your escort today. Please keep your seats in the upright positions and make sure your safety restraints are in place at all times..." He said, guiding the flight over the top of the cruiser, and around, in front of the carrier.

As Nar Shadda came into full view, Trevor was slightly amazed with its dirty splendor, and tried to forget about the times he had spent on that wretched planet, including the times he had almost been killed. HE noticed her was slowly drifting out of formation, and tightened up a little. He looked off to the right and could see what he presumed to be enemy fighters forming up, in a pattern similar to Nazgul`s. When they started getting a little closer, Shazam gave some more orders, telling Him and Art to hold their positions, all the while speeding up to engage the enemy fighters.

"Whats he doing Art?' Trevor questioned over the comm. "Should we really let him go in and do that alone?"

"I`m not sure, but whatever it is, He can handle himself. I`m sure of it." Art replied, sounding a small bit confused, but confidant in Shazam`s ability.

"Yessir." Trevor said, floating his TIE along side of Art`s, And awaiting more orders from Shazam.

*** After Shazam`s posts ***

Trevor was closing in on the pirate on the right, which was now slowing down, and his fighter was 'wobbling' from a hit he had received from Darius. I wonder if his shields are down...Only one way to find out i guess. Trevor thought to himself, as he let loose a few bolts from his fighters cannons. The green streaks of energy flew through the void with incredible speed, and struck the fighter in the rear, causing some plumes of smoke and visible damage, which meant that his shields were depleted. Trevor let loose a larger amount of fire, which quickly reached it target. The fighter he was aiming at suddenly pulled away from its crew mate, and made a large, looping right hand turn. Trevor left formation to pursue it, and was on his tail in no time, firing in short bursts. He had let three of four volleys go before the craft started erupting in spots of flame, and on his fifth it exploded from the rear forward. Trevor could feel the heat from the explosion, which was almost immediately snuffed out by the vacuum of space.

He returned to formation, and followed close to Art and Shazam, who appeared to have destroyed the third fighter while Trevor chased down the second.

Not much action back here, Darius thought to himself.  Most of Nazgul was engaged too close for comfort with the intercepting enemies.

A planetary fighter zoomed behind the transport and instinct took over.  Darius was abel to squeeze off one shot before in went out of sight.  Green energy burst out of his turret, making direct contact with the fighter.  There was a bright flash and a popping sound, and the fighter flew out of sight.  We'll see how long he lasts.

He watched his radar screen, and watched as Trevor pulled up behind the fighter and it blipped out on the screen almost instantly after Trevor locked on.

He began watching the screen and noticed something was pulling in very close to them from behind.  He looked through the viewport, but couldn't see anything.  The shuttle shuddered violently.

"The picket ship is right on top of us!" yelled DJ into the com.

"Evasive manuevers!" Shazam yelled back.  "We're tied up here!"

The other picket pulled up next to its partner and the shuttle was no longer flying on its own.  "They've got a tractor beam lock on our fuselage," exclaimed DJ.

"Can you get the rear of the shuttle facing one of the picket ships?" questioned Darius is a calm, emotionless voice.

"No problem," interupted Warren, matching Darius' calmness.

Slowly, but surely, the shuttle started pitching forward.  "Hold it here," answered Darius.  "Now, dumped all the energy as you can into my turret without overloading it.  We've only got one shot, or they'll shred us apart."

"Ok, doing so," replied Warren.  Darius watched as the energy monitor went from a green 100%, to a red 200%.  He carefully aimed at the concussion missile launcher that projected out of the armored ship.  As he locked on, the missile turret swung around and locked onto the shuttle.  "That's interesting," he muttered to himself and fired immediately.  The ship shook as he fired the turret.  "Engine at full power, and pull up!" he yelled before the laser even hit the picket ship.  It lurched and began shuddering.  The hold the two ships had on the shuttle weakened substantially and the Nazgul pilots let out a woop of celebration as the burst past the other picket ship.

Darius unleashed a fury of shots at the undamaged picket ship.  It's shield collapsed and one shot make contact with the hull.  It slowly steered to an intercept course.  "We'll never outrun that thing!" cried DJ in fury.

"Wait for it," said Darius, as he unstrapped himself and ran into the other compart.  They didn't see, but they felt it, as the first picket ship suddenly burst into flames, enveloping the other one that was taking off.  The ball of flame intensified as the other picket ship exploded.  Darius was now in the cockpit.  If he would have stayed to see that spectacular show, he would have been blinded for sure.  "Good flying," he said clapping both pilots on the shoulders.  There was no smile on his face, but inside, there was an overwhelming joy of knowing that he was going to live longer, for the time being.  He turned to get back into his turret, and Warren turned around, "excellent shooting pilot."  Darius kept walking.
