In this case, Atrick, his post was in the right. Nobody really posts in the Dark Jedi Information Booth, and we would've therefore had two topics in Lightsaber Crystals/Colors. It would've been redundant. The DJO boards' "rules" are a little different than the rest of the other divisions. The other divisions have constant topics, and thus old posts are hidden or lowered to the "next page". Old topics like that would be useless to uncover.
In this case, these topics remain in their original places, and not responding to old topics would fill this board with 5+ topics of the same subject. ----------------------- Cleric "Cosmic" Vor'soth

Quote:Not even Anakin Skywalker had the stuff to wield two lightsabers effectively at once. :P
Cosmic, normally I would agree with you or defer to your experience in the VE. That said, I'm most surprised you made such a statement. Anakin was weilding the two lightsabers most effectively against an acknowldged Master of the modern blade art and the old dueling form. Dooku was one of Yoda's best pupils ever. His bust was proudly displayed in the Jedi Archives (Obi-wan was contemplating it when Jocasta Nu approached him). Dooku had to destroy one of Anakin's blades to 'even' the odds and when Dooku/Tyranus finally did lop off Anakin's arm, the close-up shot shows how exhausted Dooku was from the ordeal; it took everything he had. I RL, I have little to no formal training. Like those guys on youtube, I practice at home with toys & boken (a training katana made of wood) whenever I can. When I accepted my friend Ryan's challenge to duel at Celabration IV I was using two lightsabers to his one. Hollow plastic tubus are fairly lightweight so the balance is close to what a 'real' lightsaber would arguably be. I did not hit myself. I did a combo where I had both blades in a reverse-grip, rotating my wrists to the blades a broad spinning arc; aas close to Grievous as humanly possible. Initially I was driving him back. After a half-minute or so recovered and locked blades. When we broke it was a frantic flurry of strike-n-parry, not graceful at all. He is a damn good opponent. But he couldn't land a blow on me. Getting the one glancing strike on him was all I could do; it had taken everything I had to do it, and I doubt I could do it again (with him). In conclusion, while I concede that two-blade styles can be more difficult to master, they are far from impossible to learn. It does take dedication. TX, maybe you should check the dates on these things. This file hadn't been touched in a year and a half. BlackJack Squad-Sergeant, Heavy Weapons

formal training in what, lightsabers? Dude, get a reality check :P If you want to actually learn something, learn a martial art that uses katanas and quit playing with toys... |

Sorry Ibram, I should have elaborated. As I've been sick two weeks running i'm feeling a little brain dead. By "formal training" I ment instruction in such disciplines as Kendo & Fencing. Kendo inherits the futatsu-ken (two-sword-art) techniques from Kenjutsu; Fencing has the Florentine-style using two blades. I have not formally trained in those disciplines but in addition to my independant study I have learned a few things froms friends; many of whom do have proper training & one friend in particular is a both a black belt in kara-te and either 4th or 5th dan in Kendo had his own martial arts studio. Ibram, as a friend, pick your fights more wisely. I try to avoid having delusions of grandeur. That said, there are people out there who take their lightsaber skills quite seriously (honest). Some take it way too seriously and would never leave you alone Remember, we're all here to have fun [background=img] BlackJack Squad[/background] Lance Corporal Baraka "Tank" Kodex TRP/LCP TX-47/2SQD/2PLT/1CMP/1RGT/1BAT/Tadath/VEA/VE [EW2][LoS] Formerly: TRP/PFC TX-47/2SQD/1PLT/1CMP/1RGT/1BAT/Tadath/VEA/VE TRN/PVT TX-47/Echelon/STC Academy/Tadath/VEA/VE http://www.playlist.com/node/6984794 http://www.playlist.com/user/5975941/ http://ossus_moon.tripod.com/ [This message has been edited by TX-47 (edited April 3, 2008 10:34:16 AM)] |

Yes i'm well aware of the people of which you speak - i believe they are called....Australians :P lol
I've had formal training in martial arts, but they didn't use swords or anything, so never learned any of that stuff... "I'm no Physician, but there appears to be a dagger through my chest."

1. This was a long dead topic.
2. This board is for DJO related information, not a discussion on what martial arts we know.
So please, even though the first post was slightly related to the topic, leave the board for what it's meant for and don't spam the DJO boards. Sergeant Major Kairo

Back on topic, if I ever do get to join the ranks of the DJO, I'd like to have a red lightsaber and a blue one. As already established there is some freedom/variety already.
I don't doubt the Master/mentor will influence the initiate's training & how their individual fighting style develops. Either way, it's bound to be a great adventure
