Are DJO members only aloud to use crystals that give their sabers a red blade, or are other colours alowed?

The blade of my lightsaber now is blood-red. And I have a synthetic crystal, not an organic one.

Also, you can't "choose" the color of your lightsaber to my knowledge.

Well, about choosing the blade color, in the Clone Wars mini-series while on Ilum, it showed green, blue, and purple crystals. But in books and such, I don't believe the crystals have colors. The Jedi really don't care, except for Mace Windu. He ventured out to find a crystal that would produce a purple color blade. For the others, you just stick one in, and see whatever blade color came out.

As for the Sith, they would search for special crystals that produce a red blade. But for the Dark Jedi, I wouldn't know. Hopefully when (and if) I join the DJO, I'll find out. I'd like a dark green blade myself.

My lighsaber has a dark blue blade. It is generated through a very dark sapphire. Logically the color of the gem used will refract to create a blade of a similar color. Of course, there are exceptions to everything, and some people have sabers that use multiple gems, which can result in an unpredictable color.

from my knowledge, you cannot pick your color, unless you want red, which is made by using a synthetic crystal. Normally dark jedi would prolly use their old lightsabers from being Jedi but since I think we're trained as dark jedi, not jedi fallen to the dark side, we could either have organic or synthetic.

To answer the question about a black blade, it's not possible, but in my inexperience I didn't care and I gave Talon black lightsaber blades. I just haven't seen the need to correct it.

In one of the books there was a Jedi trainee who had a lightsaber that could change it's length at the push of a button.  It would be the normal lightsaber size, and when he pressed the button it would double in length.  Is that an option in the DJO?

P.S.

I think that, that lightsaber was in the Jedi Academy Trilogy.  The one where Kyp Durron turns to the Dark Side.

Lightsabres that have multiple crystals can indeed have their length adjusted. By turning gems inside or increasing and decreasing power and light ratios you can change the length of the blade.

As for the color, generally you go by the color of the crystal. A green crystal usually yields a green blade, but this not the case. You can even have odd colors by having multiple crystals, but that makes for a more complicated design and building process.

As for the Dark Jedi, I know I had an orange colored blade, but I choose to make mine with only one crystal therefore it is one length.

I'm the same as heth. Your basic lightsaber DOES use two crystals though. A focusing crystal and a length crystal. Dual Phase sabers have two of the length refining crystals which can be swtiched by some mechanical device (or though the Force if they're fancy)

My lightsaber, as well, is only single-phase. I do not have the capability of increasing/decreasing its length or thickness. My lightsaber style, as mentioned above, is mainly an offensive one and it is because of this that I, like Japheth, rely more on my character's "seemingly-effortless" ability to manipulate objects with thought (telekinesis).

Lightstaffs really are at a disatvantage when battling other lightsabers. It could be useful when the opponant is using a blaster or is unarmed, but they would most likely end up hurting themselves if fighting a competant saberist.

Concerning Black Lightsaber Blades (I know that I'm a little late with this but I just started reading this post ^^):
As Lightsaberblades are made of light and there is no real blacklight, I think it isn't possible to create a black Lightsaber (very dark Colors could be possible though).

Allowed yes. But what needs to be remembered, is that fighting with a lightsaber is NOT like fighting with a sword. You are wielding a blade of light...weightless of course. Adding things like dual blade and using two sabers greatly increases the risk of personal injury for those who use them. The average Dark Jedi does not have the skills needed to wield such weapons, nor do most NEED to wield them. A single standard lightsaber is more than enough for a Dark Jedi to handle.


And as for the black lightsaber deal... UV light is called "Black light" because the core is black. By that it is possible to make a so called "dark saber" but it would have to be a very unique crystal.
