  Aegis story - Squadron Introduction

WO1 Chipmunk Man was sitting forward in his new leather chair, the palms of his hands resting on the desk in front of him as he examined the woodwork. Dang, this thing was nice. He tried the various drawers on along the sides, noting the smoothly oiled workings. He could get used to this. Quite used to this. He sat back, taking a glance around his new office. He hadn't expected to wind up in a place like this.

Recruiting for the Navy had suddenly skyrocketed after word of the Vast Empire's drive to recapture Couruscant had spread, and Naval High Command had decided it was time to reopen another squadron. And Chip had been selected as the new commanding officer. When given the option of either naming a completely new squadron or reviving an old, there was only one thing he could think of: bringing back Aegis.

Chip stood, and paced to the starport behind his chair. Hmm, he might have to have his desk repositioned later, so that the starport wasn't behind him and out of sight... Ah well, something to handle later. Chip had other things on his mind at the moment. He stood, gazing out. He'd never expected to stay in the Navy this long. He sighed, and shook his head. When he had first joined up, he had expected to serve the basic enlistment and go home. But his reason for going home had died, and now Chip had advanced to command level. He still carried the ring, on a chain around his neck, and hidden underneath his uniform...

Chip pounded his fist against the wall infront of him. No! He would not think of that. Not of that, not now. There was work to be done. He turned back to the rest of the room, picking up his datapad as he sank back into his chair. He had to grab the desk for a moment; he'd sat down so quickly he'd been afraid the chair would turn over. Chip typed up a message, and sent it to the squadron.

                  To: Aegis Squadron

But being this is a .44 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and will blow your head clean off, you need to ask youself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya? Punk!"

It had been two days since Hunter had arrived on board The Atrus. He had only met his squadron leader in that time. When Chipmunks message arrived, Hunter had been fiddling around with one of his slicing codes, waiting to be given something to do. Simulator Mission. Sounds like fun. Maybe I'll get to see the rest of the squad in action. Hunter saved and closed his program on his terminal. He then locked with a triple layered code, so no one would be able to get into without spending a long time in doing so and without notifying Hunter the second he turned it back on. Hunter then walked over to his closet and pulled out a flight uniform. He then holstered a pistol at his side. He had worn one for the longest time, and he wasn't about to stop now, even if it wasn't regulation. Picking up a datapad, Hunter left his room.

As he moved through the halls of the capital ship, Hunter wondered what he should do for the next hour until he was to be in the briefing room. He decided eating probably would not be the best idea before he went flying. Turning left, he headed in the direction of the cafeteria anyways. Once he arrived, he saw a large amount of people eating and talking. Moving into the line, Hunter started to shuffle down the rows of food. He skipped everything until he arrived at the drinks. He picked one up and left the room. He took a sip and was delighted by the taste. He hadn't bothered to see what he had chosen, since he always liked to try new things.

Twenty minutes later, Hunter was inside the briefing room. I'm still way early, but I can't think of anything to do. Pulling out his datapad, he started to play around with one of his many codes. Whenever he was bored or anxious, Hunter often found himself preoccupying his mind by solving endless codes or other tasks. Fifteen minutes later, Hunter put his datapad down and started to pace. Why am I so anxious? Why? Is it because this will be my first chance to really prove myself to the squadron? Is it because I want to show them I am a good pilot and not just a slicer, that I didn't cheat my way in? What? Hunter sank into a chair and started to reach back into his mind to the place where memories and subconsciousness meet with the consciousness. He dwelled there, blocking everything else from his mind and pondering the answers to his questions.

Hunter had first learned to do this when he was in his early teens. It had happened by accident the first time, but he had been able to do it more and more frequently when he had to solve a problem that he couldn't grasp or escape the galaxy from its harsh reality. He often lost track of time, staying in the state of semi-consciousness for hours on end. He found he was able to think clearer and without distraction. He would only leave this form of a trance if there was an outside disturbance, if he knew he had something to do and had set a form of internal alarm, or after a long period of time. Today, Hunter had decided to set his internal alarm for three minutes before the meeting. Now, he waited.

Jaden had now been recovered for about a week, and he was ready to get to know some of the members of the squadron.  Chip, he knew Chip already, but he hadn't talked to him for a while.  The surgery took a lot of time off of his hands, and he hadn't even talked to any of his former squadron mates for about a month.

Things were getting better though, he was the ASL of the newly re-opened Aegis Squadron.  Chip had accepted his application with open arms when he asked to be the Executive Officer of Aegis Squadron.  New recruits were flowing in, and soon enough the squadron would be full.

After showering and putting on his regular clothes, Jaden left his living quarters and made his way to Chips office.  As he arrived, he saw the sign on the door for the simulation.  He barely had 30 minutes to make his way to the simulation area before they began!  Wow, things were really getting rushed...

Jaden arrived about 15 minutes later with something to drink and eat.  He set it out on the table and the new squadron members swarmed over it and started feasting.  Chip smiled at Jaden as he made his way over to the side of his squadron leader.  The simulation would be fun, and it would give the new recruits a taste of what real battle was like, except they wouldn't be under as much pressure as what running a real mission would feel like.  Chip had told Jaden earlier about something, possibly picking out a member to fly against some of the new recruits.  He winked at Jaden when he had said it that day, and the subject came back up in the simulation room.

Chip pulled Jaden closer for a second to discuss something with him......

"Jaden, I have handpicked you to fly against the rest of the people in the squadron today.  I don't know why, I just went off of a gut instinct, and I think that you can really give them a taste of what they need.  Don't really take it too hard on them though, they are still trying to fit into the squadron the same as everyone else....You are flying an X-wing like you requested...we will all be flying Ties...." said Chip

"Alright, lets get this shindig going..." said Jaden

Time to Step it up

"Ok pilots, line up!" said Chip, standing stiff and at attention.

All of the pilots in Aegis Squadron snapped into line and stood at attention while Jaden and Chip looked them over.  Within a few minutes, they had an idea of who would be flying what, and how the formations would run in the simulation.  Jaden and Chip stepped out for a few minutes to discuss some things about the simulation.

"Alright, I have programed you to be the lead of the first Rebel Flight of X-Wings, and give us everything you got.  I want you to show those recruits what flying will be like when we really get out there.  They don't know that you will be flying against them yet, but they will know that it isn't a computer when they see you coming at them.  I'm going to be leading our group of course.  The basic idea, me, Twayblade, Arcanine, Bluman, and Joshua will be flying Interceptors.

It's going to look like we are on a regular patrol of the ship we are escorting, the Impervious.  It's a dreadnaught that has been recently repaired and is making its run back into safe Imperial Space.  You, are going to be leading the attack with 2 Lt. Mon Calamari Crusiers, and their fighter compliment of 1 flight of X-wings.  You will have an extra flight of A-wings at your disposal, but don't call them out until you have to.

Like I said, keep the pressure on until I inform you of anything else.  Just jump over to the secure frequency if you need to talk to me during the mission.  Try to keep your chatter amungst yourself and I low, or else these recruits might pick it up.

Jaden followed Chip as they walked back into the simulator area.  All of the pilots were still standing at attention like before, and looked ready for the mission.  Jaden veered off after Chip had informed everyone of what they would be flying.  He jumped into the simulator at the same time as everyone else, and the pilots had no idea what was going to hit them.  Within a few minutes, the simulation program had been transfered over to everyone, and the mission was on it's way....

Finally, I get to show them what I can do, and I'm even in an Interceptor to do it. I hope the simulator bots are good. Hunter waited a few seconds as the simulator started. The world changed around him, and he soon found himself sitting in the cokpit of a TIE-Interceptor inside a ships hanger bay. Looking down at his screens, Hunter checked to make sure everything was in the green. Then he looked at his objectives. Protect the Dreadnaught Impervious to its destination. Escort it through its last lightspeed jump. Follow the designated coordinates. What flight am I in? Flight one, I'm with Chip. A few seconds later, Chips voice came through the comspeaker.

"You know the objective. Let's make sure The Impervious makes it back into Imperial space. It's making the jump now. The simulator is going to skip the time it takes and have us come out of lightspeed almost emediately after we jump." Chipmunk said through the comlink.

Hunter felt the Dreadnaught around him launch itself into lightspeed. The simulation seemed to pause a second. Then, true to Chip's word, they came out of lightspeed. A new voice came through the squadron's comchannel. "All fighters deploy. We have two Lt. Mon Calamari Crusiers with a flight of X-wings heading right for us. They somehow found out where we were. We're going to try to make a run for it. Keep those X-wings off of us. The Cruisers are far enough away that we should be able to out run them."

The voice was replaced by Chip's, saying "You have your orders. Launch!"

Hunter saw Chip's Interceptor break away from its docking position. Hunter waited as Arcanine launched, then detached himself and pushed the throttle forward. After clearing the hanger bay, Hunter fell into place on the left side of Chip's Interceptor as Arcanine took the right side. Hunter then looked at two of his screens, while keeping a hold of his stick. First he checked to make sure that his Interceptor was completely in the green. Then he checked to see how far away the X-wings were. He then heard Arcanine say "Flight member two, good to go."

Hunter opened into the comchannel and stated, "Flight member three in the green." The rest of the members followed suit down the list.

Once they were finished, Chip said, "Stay sharp. Try to distract them for as long as you can. Take them out if you can. We just need to buy enough time for the cruiser."

Hunter brought his targeting reticule over the X-wings in the distance and watched as the two squadrons of fighters moved toward eachother. Hunter set his laser fire to dual fire and followed Chip. Hunter kept his targeting reticule over his target, watching the numbers scroll down until he was within distance. Then, lightflood the dark abyss of space as the first fighters got within distance of eachother and fired. The dogfight had begun.

"This is Red Leader, break from the attack and engage the enemy fighters" said Jaden as he pulled the stick back, turning the X-wing in an arc.  He had easily positioned the snubnosed starfighter right behind one of the attacking Tie-Interceptors.  Jaden set shields even around the ship so he would be protected from all sides.

"Beeop boop beep," hummed the R2 unit that had been assigned to Jaden's fighter.

"Yes?" asked Jaden

"beep boop beep bhooop," said the Astromech droid.

"Alright, copy that.  2 bogeys coming in from behind.  Set shields full aft and link the laser fire," said Jaden as his targeting redicule went green.  The fighter just moved straight forward, not attempting to dodge anything that was about to hit him.  Seemed to be a pilot with little or no training.

"Wow, when this is over, I'll remind everyone that you never fly in a straight line, or you are toast," said Jaden, barrel rolling into his attack pattern.  He pushed the firing button on the flight stick, and the red lasers shot out from his fighter and connected with the aft shields of the Interceptor in front of him.  The tie pilot was quick to react, as he banked out of the attack into a circling flight pattern.  Jaden brought his fighter into the arc again, and came to an angle where he had a perfect shot.  He pulled the trigger, and the lasers sliced through the shild and penetrated the hull, ripping the solar panels off of the tie interceptor and shooting the debris into space.

"One down, 6 to go, anyone else record any kills?" asked Jaden

One of the bots reported in that he had recorded a kill, but everyone else was under heavy fire.  Jaden checked his targeting computer.  He had chosen to fly an Incom T-65c A2 Starfighter for this mission, but the rest of the computer players were flying the original model, so he had a huge advantage over the bots that were on his side.  He could easily give them any commands he wanted; they were all at his disposal.

Chip and his squadron would have to do a lot better if they were to win this simulation out, unless Chip had something else in mind he hadn't told Jaden about....

As soon as the battle had begun, Hunter fired off a double burst once his target was in range. Hunter locked onto the enemy x-wing so he wouldn't lose him in the battle. Somehow, one of the shots had managed to hit the fighter. Weakening it's shields. Hunter emediately jinked to the right then the left, so the oncoming fire wouldn't hit him. Once the different fighters swept by eachother, Hunter saw the enemies flight leader give chase to one of the members of the squadron. A second later, he also saw two other members give chase to the target. Are they trying to get recognition or something? Heh. I'll deal with this one first. Pulling back on the control stick, Hunter brought his fighter back around in the direction he had been coming from. Everything was inverted now, but that didn't matter in space. Scanning the star field, Hunter found his original target giving chase to one of his allies. Hunter wove his way through the battle, dodging random laser fire and moving in a random pattern.

Once he was close to the fleeing ship, Hunter's display showed him that it was flight member 6: Bluman 111. Hunter opened up his channel and said, "I have you covered six. Follow a Sharp Elbow manuever to lose him and that will put him in my sights."

Bluman's voice came through the comspeaker in pauses as he tried to lose the x-wing. "What the hell... is... a Sharp Elbow whatever?"

"Just pull hard right, then left, then right again. Really fast and hard." Hunter said as he honed in his position.

"Alright," Bluman started the manuever and the x-wing began to follow. Hunter linked his lasers into a quad fire setting. Bluman pulled the second turn, but the x-wing stayed with him and tried to hit him with it's lasers. Bluman narrowly dodged them as he pulled hard to his right. The x-wing couldn't keep pace with the slightly more manueverable Interceptor but tried to follow the turn after a few second, placing itself directly in line with Hunter. Hunter fired off his shot as he came down perpendicular with the x-wing. His quad burst directly hit the x-wing's aft wing and lowered its shields drastically. Hunter flew right passed the x-wing. The force of the blow caused the x-wing to spin and lose sight of both Hunter and Bluman.

By this time, Bluman had been able to follow through with a complete turn and target the aft side of the x-wing. Firing a string of shots, Bluman punched through the x-wings shields and landed a few shots on it's hull, before he was forced to vear off from another X-wings fire. Meanwhile, Hunter had pulled up from his downward dive and positioned himself so he was heading for the underside of the x-wing. As the x-wing came back into view, Hunter's computer went wild. An enemy x-wing was trying to get a target lock on him. Hunter broke off from his attack run and swerved left and right, trying to break free from the lock. He was too late though. The computer identified a target lock and that an x-wing had launched an incoming missile. Pulling back in line with his original target, Hunter saw that Bluman had been damaged its aft engines, causing it to only be able to limp away from the battle. Diverty laser power to his engines, Hunter moved forward as fast as he could, but the missile was still gaining on him. Hunter looked down at his display and saw that the missile was only 100 meters away. Hunter looked up and saw the x-wing close by. 75 meters away. 50 meters away. Hunter urged the Interceptor forward. 25 meters. 10 meters. Hunter closed his eyes and leaned forward as if that would make the TIE-fighter go faster. Hunter flew dangerously close the to x-wing's aft wing as he barreled by. The missile hit the x-wing in the next instant, causing the x-wing to become nothing bot burning parts. Hunter let out a sigh as he raced away from the explosion. Clearing his head, he brought his ship back around and into the fray once again.

Taking a quick look at his display, Hunter saw that three of his allies had been destroyed, leaving Chip, Arcanine, Joshua, Twayblade, and himself. Unfortunately, Twayblade and Arcanine had obtained some damage. Looking at the enemy count, he saw that they had been able to kill off two of the x-wings, but the rest still seemed to be in the green. I hope the rest of us can pull of some fancy flying, or that Chip has a plan.

Jaden kept the fighter under control as he veered from his attack course slightly.  He switched over to the secure com line that he and Chip had established before the mission.  It was a line where they could talk and the rest of the squadron members couldn't hear them.

"Chip, you guys look like you are taking some serious hits, Yet, I've only lost two flyboys," said Jaden

"Yea, We need to take these guys out on some more training missions, but I think Hunter and Mallard are really showing some improvement out here.  Twayblade and Arcanine are starting to get the hang of it also.  As for Joshua and bluman, we are going to have a talk with them when we get back.." said Chip

"I totally agree.  I have an idea though Chip, I have this friend I met on one of my missions with Nazgul, from Varonat.  He has survived some of the toughest things ever.  He was in a Rebel Encampment, and he fortunently escaped.  He is one of the best pilots I have ever flown with," said Jaden, "Maybe we could bring him in for a survival lesson for some of these new recruits"

"Well, it looks like a few of our Squadron members are getting in a tangle, Chip out," said Chip

"Jaden out," said Jaden

The mission had been going pretty great since the beginning, with the loss of only 2 fighters, and every one else running at full, they would surely take the rest of the fighters out easily.

Just as Jaden was pulling the fighter around, an Interceptor clipped one of his S-foils, rocking the starfighter and sending it into a spin.  Jaden checked the ID on the fighter, it was Arcanine.  The fool has run into my ship! thought Jaden, Time to take care of him....

Jaden pulled back on the stick and brought his figher around behind the interceptors.  He checked his system to make sure everything was running normally when he realized that his shields had taken some heavy damage from an encounter from earlier.  He switched some of his engine power over to the shield recharge so that he might be able to last the rest of the flight without going down like the ones before him.

"This is Red 3, I have the enemy in range, commencing attack," said the 3rd AI bot.  He had brought another interceptor down.  Jaden checked the ID; it had been Twayblade that had been shot down.  Jaden kept on the tail of Arcanine as he tried to scurry out of the line of fire, but it was no use.  Jaden switched over to secondary weapons and shot a proton torpedo into the backside of the fighter, ripping it into small pieces.

There were know only a few fighters left.  Chip was leading Hunter and Mallard on their attack run, only to realize that they were the only three left.

"Alright guys, we have to step it up here.  I wan't you all take any shot that you see, but make sure it is going to be a hit.  We are outnumber 3-4, and they have more firepower then we do, but we are faster then they are.  Make hit and run attacks and just keep laying it on them.  Soon enough we should be able to cluster them together and hopefully bring them down, but if that doesn't work, we are going to have to pick them off one by one, which doesn't look like it is going to work in our case."

"Yeah, we will try our best," said Hunter

"Of course we will," said Mallard, in a slightly bumbled voice

Five minutes had passed, since Chip, Hunter, and Malard had formed together. They had been harassing the x-wings steadily, giving the Dreadnaught more time to escape. Unfortunately, the 2 Mon Calamari cruisers had caught up to it. It was holding it's own, and would be able to hold them off if no reinforcements arrived for the rebels. The x-wings were beginning to get annoyed with the superior maneuverability of the Tie fighters. The flight leader had been the only one to lay a hit on them, but their luck has just run out. From out of no where a turbolaser shot flashed through space near the three tie fighters. The dogfight had strayed close enough to the cruiser that they had tried to blast them out of the sky, once and for all. "Ties break."

Hunter pulled to the left out of his position and began to follow one of the weakened tie fighters. Pulling in behind him, Hunter fired into his back while still moving in a random pattern to escape enemy locks and laser fire. The x-wing turned hard to port, but Hunter easily followed and landed another shot into it's rear shields. They followed this pattern for another minutes, until another x-wing pulled in behind him. A second later, that x-wing was followed by Mallard.

Hunter looked to see how damaged the two fighters were and saw that both had only twenty-five percent shields. Unfortunately, Hunter was having difficulty laying a direct shot on his target while trying to evade the x-wing behind him. "Keep tracking him Malard." Hunter said as he pulled hard on his stick and did a tight loop to fall into place next to Mallard. After losing it's target suddenly, the x-wing dove and barrel rolled to get Mallard of its tail. But Hunter and Malard stuck with him and fired a combined shot that annihilated the craft. This did allow Hunter's previous target to escape and recharge its shields slightly.

Hunter tried to find the craft on his display, but it had somehow disappeared. A yell came through the comlink, "He's coming from beneath you. Watch out!" The message was too late though. Hunter's craft was hit and he was sent spinning. Thankfully, he somehow leveled out and checked what had been hit. His engines were showing large damage and were in critical condition. It was only a matter of time before they overloaded and blew. I'm dead either way. I might as well go out with a bang. Hunter pulled hard to port and began to follow a x-wing that was following Chip. He had pulled in right behind the x-wing, but due do to his damaged engines, he was unable to catch up.

Hunter knew how to fix it though and opened up his comlink. "Good luck guys. It's time to make this fight even." Hunter then pushed all remaining power into his engines and sent his Interceptor flying into the back of the x-wing. The screen went black and the simulator ended for Hunter. That wasn't too bad. I prefer to have shields though when I'm flying on a mission like that...

(OOC: Awesome job man/)

The two Lt. Mon Calamari Crusiers were now on a direct path for the dreadnaught, and were in for turbolaser fire.  Squall gave the heads up, and the barrage began.

Jaden pulled the X-wing up in between the Lt. Mon Calamari's, and he was followed by Red 2, the only remaining X-wing left.  In a last ditch effort, one of the tie fighters had rammed himself into the back of Red 4, causing the X-wings engines to overload and explode.  The Tie fighter had met the same fate.

Jaden had presumed that Chip was one of the fighters that was still in the battle, but he couldn't be sure.  He was thinking that the other pilot flying with him was either Mallard or Hunter, but he couldn't put a point on it.  It was his first time of flying with the new pilots of Aegis Squadron, and both Hunter and Mallard had proved to be excellent tie pilots.

After manuvering his way through the two crusiers and their fire, Jaden spotted the two tie fighters circling around their dreadnaught.  They still had a mission to protect it, but they were low on firepower, and willpower, because of the dog fight.

Jaden transfered half of his shield power over to his engines, and the snubnose fighter picked up to a great speed.  Within a few moments, he was 400 meters from the ties.  As Jaden and Red 2 came up on the rear of the ties, they broke.  The fighter on the left quickly snapped around and began firing on Red 2, and the other fighter managed to give him some fire also.  By the time he had tried to get out of the laser lock, he had already lost most of his sytems.  He had gotten a few meters away before his starfighter exploded, sending shrapnel flying all the way through the battlefield.

Now, both of the ties were after Jaden.  He pulled up and banked to the left, coming up on the starboard side of the second fighter.  He had easily come into lock, and let off a few red laser bursts.  They all managed to clip the fighter, taking it's hull down to 35%.  Before he could finish the fighter off, another came up on his rear and was laying it on pretty heavy.  Jaden transfered most of the shield power that he had left to his aft so that he could protect his rear, but he also kept his throttle steady and followed the tie fighter in front of him.  The tie moved quickly, trying to veer out of his line of fire, but it was no use.  Jaden fired off another volley, trying to bracket the fighter in, and he was successful.  The fighter took a shot to it's left solar panel really bad, and the whole left side of the ship collapsed.  After the destruction of the fighter, Jaden pulled back up to see that the other fighter wasn't there.  It was chip for sure.

(MMk guys, let chip finish the fighter battle off, but you can talk about watching the fight on the screens in the simulation room, or talk about what you were doing after you got killed.)

Hunter took a deep breath as he exited the simulator. Wiping the sweat from his brow, Hunter squinted as he his eyes adjusted to the brightly lit simulator room. He saw that the rest of the already destoryed members were crowded around one of the viewing screens. Hunter then noticed that Jaden wasn't with them. He had found it odd that an older member and a flight leader had been downed early on in the simulator. Then it clicked, Jaden had been flying with the enemy. "That's why it was so hard, but that means that..." Hunter walked over to the viewing screen.

Right as he arrived, hunter saw Malard's Interceptor destroyed. It was down to Chip and the flight leader of the other squadron. "So Jaden was the Red Leader. No wonder a bunch of people got destoryed at the beginning. Three people went after the second oldest member in the squadron at the beginning."

"Tell us about it." One of the members said.

"Sorry, I just find it funny." Hunter said, turning only his left mechanical eye toward the speaker. It was earily uncanny that he could move his left eye independently from his right. The person he was looking at jumped back a pace.

"Isn't that kind of unfare to have a mechanical eye on the battle field?" Hunter had figured out who was speaking by this time. It was Arcanine.

"Maybe, but do you really think the battle field is ever fair? When at war, fare is a point of view. Also, are you really going to begrudge having someone with a little edge to be on your side?" Hunter had said as he watched the battle with his right eye. It had taken him a few years to be able to dual task what he was looking at without getting a headache, but he was still only able to do it for a couple of minutes. Chip and Jaden were duking it out on the spacefield; neither one giving their opponent an advantage.

"Well, you do have a point there. I'm Arcanine by the way. I know we know eachother, but I've never really introduced myself."

"Hunter. Ridley is my first name if you want to know." Hunter offered.

"Ridley huh? Interesting name." Arcanine admitted. "So, who do you think is going to win in the sim?"

Dr. Malard had joined them by this time and stated, "Who knows. It could go either way, but hopefully that dreadnaught gets out of there soon, because the cruisers have gotten a lot closer and are weakening it's shields."

Hunter responded, "That's true, but the dreadnaught only needs another two to four minutes. Of course, that can seem like an eternity in there. So, what area of expertice do you know to give you the title Doctor?"

  "Well, I attended..."

Jaden had lost track of the interceptor.  He brought up the targeting computer, but unfortunently, that had been damaged to a large extent when he was hit by Hunter earlier in the simulation.  Jaden thought about taking time to try and repair it, but it was no use.  He would have to fly blind, which he had done before.

Jaden squinted his eyes, looking for the small aircraft to be skimming about the turbolaser fire coming from the Lt. Mon Calamari's and the Dreadnaught.  The Dreadnaught was at 24% shield capacity, and wasn't going to hold much longer against the large cruisiers.  As Jaden looked towards the top of one of the Lt. Mon Calamari's, he spotted the fighter scurry atop the large cruiser, doging everything the crusier was throwing at him.

"I've never seen Chip move like this before," said Jaden, transfering little of what he had left of his shields over to his engine.  He pressed to full throttle, dodging the laser fire coming from the dreadnaught behind him.

"Dreadnaught at 10% shields," reported one of the Lt. Mon Calamari's..

Good, Good, now he doesn't have much time before he loses.  Unless he kills meh, this is over

Jaden snapped the figter up into a right roll, banking off right towards Chip.  The interceptor was coming straight for him.

Oh, head to head Chip?  Thats how you want it?

The fighters grew closer and closer together.  Jaden could get a lock on Chip, because his targeting computer was still malfuntioning.  He slammed his fist on the screen in frustration.

"Dreadnaught shields down, Hull is now at 40%," reported one of the Lt. Mon Calamari's

Just as the transmission was ending, Jadens fighter was rocked and his cockpit view lit up like fireworks.  Chip had gotten a critical shot to his fighter.  Jaden scrambled, trying to check all systems and also get himself out of the lock from Chip.

Weapon Systems-Critical
Engines-40% efficiency
S-Foil 1-Critical
S-Foil 2-Critical
S-Foil 3-Critical
S-Foil 4-Critical
Life-Support-Offline
Targeting Computer-Offline
Shields-Out

Jaden quickly launched a chaff in hopes that he would jam Chips ship up also, and have time to get out before he was toast, but Chip had already made his way around and had started firing.

"Dreadnaught at 4% Hull, 30 seconds until destruction," reported one of the Lt. Mon Calamari's

"Come on, Come on!" said Jaden, hoping he would survive Chips next attack, because he reall wasn't going anywhere fast at 10% thruster capacity.

The ship was rocked once again, and all systems had now failed.  Jaden held his hands over his head as he knew the simulation was over now.  Within a few seconds, the screen went black, and the pod opened up.

He was greeted with Cheers and screams from all of the personel that had gathered to watch the event on the simulation screens.  Chip came out of his fighter and shook Jadens' hand.

"What happened?" questioned Jaden

"You won," said Chip, "I almost had you"

"What do you mean, I was sure that I was killed," said Jaden

"Nope, I would have got you, but those cruisers on your side got to the dreadnaught before I killed you.  Therefor, Mission failed on my side," replied Chip

"Aww dang, well, In flying skills you definently outdid me," said Jaden, "I knew there was no way I would match up against you in that field"

"You did good Jaden.  What we need to teach these recruits now, is survival tactics," said Chip, "I heard that you had someone in mind earlier?"

"Yes, my old friend, Ben...." said Jaden

(This has to do with something I think we could use for the next story...more to come)
