Ahhhh, it feels good to be back here again

Angel, recently returned to Tadath not only from Lopen, but from being imprisoned in Phoenix, strode purposefully down the long corridor. The insignia of sergeant adorned his right shoulder, while an ASL badge hung from his left. Phoenix, apparently, had made quite a character of himself in the Army, meriting insubordination and "conduct unbecoming " charges. So here Angel stood, back to where he started before he even joined the order...sergeant and Assitant Squad Leader of the Raiders.

Flashes of anger and resentment distracted Angel and he walked right past the door to Rizzit's office. Pausing, Angel felt his cheeks flush as Rizzit's presence moved behind him. It HAS been awhile... Retracing his steps, Phoenix straightened his uniform outside the Major's door. Raising his right hand, he rapped the door twice.

"Enter" Rizzit said, his voice rushing out of the room as the door *whooshed* open. The office looked just as Angel remembered it. The large couch pressed against the wall, popcorn machine carefully hidden in the back...and large amounts of unkempt papers littering anything with a flat surface.

Angel took two steps in then threw a crisp salute. "Sergeant Nimiichi reporting as requested." His amber eyes took in the other two humans seated in the office: High General  Fury sat stoicly in the large chair in front of Rizzi't desk, while a familiar looking woman lounged on the couch, a bored look on her face.

"Sergeant...Nimiichi?" Fury asked, raising a confused eyebrow. "But I thought...you Dark Jedi boys are so damn confusing sometimes."

"Apologies General, if you'd like I can explain it all to you, but be warned...its a loooong story." Angel responded, a faint smile passing his lips.

"Please FA, spare us the details." Rizzit said in a decidely sarcastic tone.

Chuckling, Angel turned his attention back to the woman on the couch...I know her...thats... "Mara," Angel said, bowing to the young woman,  "Good to see you again."

The new Raiders SL nodded, a bit a of confusion radiating off her as well. "FA, its been awhile."

Throwing her his best smile, the Dark Knight turned back towards Rizzit. "So why are we all cooped up inside on this fine day?"

"Take a seat sergeant." Moving out from behind his desk as Angel plopped onto the couch next to Mara, Rizzit grabbed a pair of datapads and handed them to the Raider Squad command staff.

Activating the pad, Mara scanned the data and raised a questioning eyebrow, "Moorja?"

"Just keep reading," Rizzit responded, an exaperaated look on his face. "Ever since we took control of the planet and pulled the majority of our forces out it has been rocked by instability. Rouge New Republic cells have been undermining our delciate position there. While the general populace doesn't seem to care who is in charge, these cells have been comitting acts of terrorism, making it increasingly difficult to maintain control there."

Angel 's datapad showed holographs taken of what used to be a garrison barracks. Bodies...or at least pieces of them, littered the landscape. Blood was splattered over the duracrete chunks that once comprised a building.

The Army Prefect joined in the briefing. "As you can probable infer, we can't afford to have a long, drawn out rebellion waged against us there. Moorja is an important staging point for our campaign against the Republic, so neither can we afford to lose the planet. The new planetary governer Grand Moff Kadann appointed will be arriving there today and giving his inagural speech. We're hoping putting a physical sign of our Empire's intention of staying there might discourage these insurgents."

Sitting down on the front edge of his desk, Rizzit chimed in again. "Two factions claimed responsibility for this most recent attack." Shuffling through some papers in his hand, he found the names of the two groups."  The 'Red Crescent' and the 'FFA'."

"FFA?" Mara asked, "Any special meaning to the acronym we should be aware of?"

"The funny thing is," Fury responded with a snort of mild annoyance, "They use their letters as a propaganda machine. There IS no official meaning, its whatever they choose it to be. Everytime they claim an attack, they give a different name, but always with those three letters."

"So either they're bi-polar, have innumerable shake-ups, or they're trying to give the impression that there's many groups acting against us." Rizzit concluded. "Now as far as what your squad is to do, the details of your orders are on those pads, as well as all the intel we've been able to gather about the groups." Rising from his desk, Rizzit continued, "I know this isn't your typical mission, but with Daishi whisking away Wraith squad, and Jester so short handed, we had no choice but to go with Raider Squad because of well...the squad's...other talents"

"As this is so far out of your element," Fury continued, "I've ordered your squad be equipped with a new prototype armor we've dubbed 'Mimetic Armor.' It's sort of like an active camoflauge, always reacting with its surroundings to blend in with them. Also the armory here and on Moorja will be open to you."

Rizzit spoke again, arms folded over his chest. "But just be aware, this mission will not be accomplished by running around shooting everything in sight. We're trying to win over the population, and an Imperial squad running around shooting up their homes is not going to make the best impression."

Angel and Mara both nodded. "We'll requisition our supplies and brief the squad en-route." Mara answered. "Is the planetary garrision also at our disposal?"

"If you need backup they are aware of your position and will respond." Fury answered. "Any other questions?"

"No sir," Mara and Angel answered in unison. Rising from the couch, both saluted Fury and Rizzit, then made their way out of the small office.

"Oh. Two more things I forgot." Rizzit said, "One. Daishi left behind Sergeant Major Stonefish when he whisked away the Wraiths. I'll be assigning him to Raiders because of his experience in black ops and infiltration. And two...Shadow is back. Dismissed."

Saluting once more, Angel his the hatch panel, opening the door. Once outside, Mara turned to him and said, "Just how long of a story is it?"

"Is what?" Angel responded, his mind elsewhere.

"The one you told Fury about."

"Long enough for the flight to Moorja."

"Good, because I want to know my ASL before going into combat. I'll hit the armory, you raise the squad and get them to the ship." Not waiting for a response, Mara turned left and headed off towards the requsition office.

Sighing, Angel distractedly made his way back to the barracks. He wasn't sure if he was ready to be back in the Army again, not knowing the full effects of merging with Phoenix yet. He had left his security blanket, and his heart, back on Lopen. Angel felt like a newborn again, except with the driving force and main support system hundreds of light years away.

Distracted again, Angel almost missed the lift to the floor given to the squad. Taking the lift up, he prepared himself. He hadn't spoken to Cyanus since his return, and really didn;t know how the Krath Knight would respond to the change.

The lift doors opened...to reveal Snipes, standing in the middle of the hallways pounding on a door...in a pink bathrobe and bunny slippers...

New planetary governor Jacob Kellson stood before the small multitude gathered around the newly constructed governor's palace. He had arrived on planet just a few hours earlier, and already had to tell the people that they were now under his control. He had been a relatively minor politician on Tadath, a member of one of the Moff's advisory council, then a provincial judge in  the Vast Empire's courts. None of that could possible have prepared him for this moment. In planetary proportions, a "small multitude" comprised of close to one hundred thousand beings of all different species.

Swallowing his fear, he stepped up to the podium and cleared his throat.

"People of Moorja...welcome to the Vast Empire." Scattered cheers eminated from the crowd. Was Kadann right in choosing me? Pausing for the cheers to settle, Jacob continued. "I am Planetary Governor Jacb Kellson. A few months ago, we were enemies, fighting a bloody conflict which stained the ground you stand on red with blood. That conflict was ended, and now another has begun. Insurgents, bent on distrupting the fragile peace that we have attained, have committed terrorist acts against the Vast Empire."

Pausing for effect, Jacob swallowed hard again, then continued. "Well I am here today to tell you, that the Vast Empire is here to stay. Together we wil bring about an unequaled age of prosperity and wealth to this pla..."

*BANG*

A single shot rang out. Deafening in the relative silence of the crowd.

Jacob Kellson, planetary governor of Moorja lay dead, a pool of blood expanding underneath what remained of the back of his head...

*                                      *

Our orders:

Raider squad is to split into two teams. Squad Leader Mara Jade, and Assistant Squad Leader Jikkyo Nimiichi, will each lead one team. One person will remain as a link to Imperial forces on Moorja, coordinating with the garrison and temporary government. The FTs will use the available intel and each infiltrate one of the two main NR groups. This cannot be attained by blasting everything in sight. Once the cells are infiltrated, the main players must be identified and taken out. How you accomplish this is up to you. The rules of engagement are in effect, and any civilian casualties are unacceptable.

Equipment:
- Mimetic Armor (packed)
- Civilian dress (worn)
- Authentic ID's provided by the Moorja government
- personal choice of holdout, melee and ranged weapons
- secure, encrypted comlinks
- personal micro-holorecorders

"Snipes, what are you doing up already?"

At this, Sniping101 turned around to meet the man in front of him. There was a tone in that voice that the trooper hadn't heard in a long time, one that of a long-lost friend and ally. "Angel...I mean Phoenix!" He cringed, ready to be beaten into a flat cake.

Angel winced slightly at the sound of the second name, and his eyes dulled a bit. A shadow of rage crossed his face, and he seemed enraged for a bit. Soon the darkness passed, and he became a benevolent leader again. "Angel. And it's good to see you again. So again, what are you doing out here?"

Snipes became hysterical and babbled incoherently for around a minute. He slowed down and recapped the situation, "I was dreaming -- Oh, you shoulda seen it! Women and liquor, my best dreams in the whole wide galaxy! -- anyways, I heard taps on the door and I didn't care because my door's so thick. So then when I was about to kiss this really cute blondie, the banging got louder, and this muffled voice was speaking through. Suddenly the door opened and I opened my eyes and saw Cy glaring at me. It's really scary when he stares at you -- I can't find words to describe them, but they felt like they were punching into my mind like a sword, man -- and I got really scared and woke up. He said, 'I told you to wake up, now you feel the consequences,' or something like that and threw...me...out! He walked out all calm-like and locked the door! Oh damn, I left my bottle on the counter!"

Angel and Snipes turned as a multitude of men in robes and slippers arrived grumbling. They all collectively complained about Cyanus' actions. The only one that wasn't there was JR. A door opened and they saw a flash of white slip in quickly. Another figure in pink flew out a moment later, with the man in white walking toward them, Cyanus, knight of the Krath Order. The bathrobe-clad Raiders backed away before his menacing presence.

Nobody could see his face of course, since it seemed that Cyanus was always dressed in some form of armor and robes. This time it was scout armor. It seemed weird but nobody found the courage to speak up; probably didn't matter either, since the knight seemed to know what they meant to say anyway.

"Did I not say to you to wake up and get ready, since someone was coming to this hall?" Cyanus asked, looking over the motley crew of sleepy marines. He turned to Phoenix, or whoever it was that looked like Phoenix. "And who are you, who looks so much like my late squad leader, Phoenix?" Angel saw him slowly reach for something near the back of his belt, under his white cloak.

"Cy...it's your friend FA -- Angel. Don't you remember?" Angel felt nervous at the situation. What if Cyanus didn't recognize him as a friend, rather, as an enemy? Would he be attacked?

After long thought, and his face seemed fixed on recollection, Cyanus looked firmly at Angel and said, "Yes, I remember. Welcome back Phoen- Angel, from wherever you were. Where did you come from? I truly want to know."

The sergeant smiled. "I'll tell you the story later. The rest of you get dressed and meet me in the hanger in twenty minutes. We've got a job to do. Let's go Cy." Cyanus nodded, and a bunch of clicks on the doors preceded their leaving.

Yep, FA's back, thought Snipes as he headed to his now-unlocked room.

"Angel, I need you here right away," Mara said over the intercom. "Something's come up."

Mara sat in her office in an uncomfortable chair twisting a thick lock of tawny red hair awaiting the two DJ arrival.  The mission rolled over and over in her mind, the conditions had changed and she needed the seasoned input of her ASL and FTL desperately.  Situation escalated and the Raiders job was even more critical, restoring peace would now be more difficult, and might require more undercover work than previously thought.  To make matters more complicated one of her Raiders was being moved to another squad to support another essential mission.  No replacements were made, so teams would have to be changed around.  A loud rap came at her door... knowing it was Angel and Cy she didn't look up from her datapad after shouting enter....  silently like ghosts they entered the room and stood before her desk.

"Please... sit down" Mara whispered rubbing her head to fight the stabbing pain behind her left eye

Looking at her ASL who she needed to get to know all over again, and her FTL who sat in front of her in... scout armor? today... needless to say, the oddities in her squad were plentiful, and somehow it made it that much more fun to work with them.  She looked at the other squads, none had the pink robe personality her Raiders had, few could wear bunny slippers and be fierce killers like her boys could... and do it with style.  So they were the oddity of the VE, they did their job with surgeon like accuracy, they were in and out of a mission in less time than it takes to loose rank around here... impressive to say the least.  She looked at her robed clad scout armor wearing FTL and wondered what he was like under all of those layers.. its hard to know someone with a mask, then again Phoen...Angel was a difficult one too masks were just one difficulty she had to endure, he was entirely a different matter... she thought at first she was chosen for SL because of her abilities to think under pressure and act quickly, now she knew better.. they thought her to be just crazy enough to work with this squad.  She smiled at this thought... Focusing on the not so pleasant task at hand she had to inform Angel and Cy of a few changes.

Picking up her datapad Mara, embaressed, covered the chewed corner  before reading the news of the moment...

"Angel, Cyanus... we have lost a member of our squad.. Otto will now be reporting to the Dragoons, they have a critical mission and he moved there."

Mara paused and allowed the heavy news to settle on them, leaving us short for such a critical mission of their own was a pain, but the fact that the mission elevated just in the past hour made it more difficult.  Looking down at her datapad as if it provided some mysterious answers to the tragic events that unfolded on Moorja... delaying the moment long enough she continued on with the news...

" The new governor of Moorja was just assassinated, we can only assume at this point those responsible are the 'Red Crescent' or the 'FFA', mission stands the same however situation has escalated to a feverous pitch.  We will need to be extremely careful, one slip up of our identities being known and we will be publicly made an example of with our lives I am sure.  We need to earn their implicit trust, this is no quick mission... I anticipate us spending quite some time there establishing our cover before anything happens. Everyone must be completely clear on this, no rushing, no fumbling, this is a chance to do a difficult mission and show ourselves we are capable of something other than mass destruction.  I would like to hear your thoughts on this, and with us loosing one member the fire teams will be restructured again.  I am waiting on garrison to get back with our new identities and any last minute information before we head out"

Mara's emerald green eyes locked with Angels looking expectantly for input...

Angel let the news sink in slowly, hoping it would inspire some great idea from him. Unfortunately, by the time he realized the full implications of what Mara had just told them, his mind was completely flustered.

"Why did they have to take Otto? We needed him for this mission." Cy asked, hints of frustration edging into his voice.

"Apparently he was needed more elsewhere. The addition of Ramon Stonefish and Shadow's return should compensate for his loss somewhat, but we DO need to re-work our plans a little." Mara said, still trying to hid the chew marks on the corner of her datapad.

The com at Mara's desk beeped. "Emperor's black bones what now?!" She exclaimed, stress more than evident in her voice.

Jr's voce crackled over the speaker. "Mara this is JR. Umm...Snipes and Twizted got in a scuffle...and fell down a flight of stairs. According to the med droid, Snipes fractured his distal fibia and two ribs. Twizted broke his right arm. Both are out for the mission."

"You've got to be kidding me." Mara responded, jaw dropped. "About what?"

"I'm not sure. I think Snipes caught Twizted sipping his boos."

"Those two are gonna get it....Thanks JR. Finish prepping and meet us in the hanger." Cutting the link Mara picked up her datapad and resumed chewing on the corner. "So now what do we do?"

Angel smiled, Crazy, just like the rest of us... "Well," he said aloud, "This actually simplifies things for us. We go with two teams of three, Cy can still be the garrison liason."

The Krath Knight smiled slightly, revlieved that his easy job had not been spoiled.

"That was what I was leaning towards," Mara admitted, "But I don't like the idea of three person teams. Seems too small to me.

"I admit its not ideal, but we don't have much of a choice now do we?" Angel asked, raising a questioning eyebrow.

"No..I guess not."

*                                                                  *

As the Raider's command staff approached the entrance to the docking bay of the Dominion Angel pulled Mara aside, ducking into a doorway. Punching her lightly on the shoulder he said "lighten up will you? You're gonna do fine."

A smile cracked on Mara's impassive expression. "You Jedi boys need to keep out of people's minds. You might not like what you find in one...especially mine."

Chuckling Angel leveled his gaze on Mara again. "Seriously Mara. This'll be a piece of cake. Besides, with Cy and I along, these terrorists don't stand a wombat's chance in hell of getting the better of us."

"Well I see this 'ordeal' of your hasn't hurt your ego at all. It's too big to be a carryon, so you're going to have to check it before you get on the shuttle" Mara said mockingly.

"Ouch. Yes ma'am." Stepping back into the hallway Angel motioned. "Shall we?"

After Angel and Cyanus left, JR went back to his room to pack and to get ready for the mission.  Walking into the room he decided to take a quick shower.  As he was showering his mind wandered to the return on Angel.  He wasn't quite sure how he felt about it.  He was glad that he had his fellow squad mate back, plus Phoenix had been a tough SL, and had been unforgiving to many in the army.  JR thought back to when he had first found out about Phoenix and what had happened to Angel.  He didn't quite know what had happened and he still was confused about it.  What he did know was that Phoenix had been there for him and the squad, and had helped them out of difficult situations many times.  Now with him gone, JR wondered if Angel would be able to do what Phoenix had done, because with the difficultly of the mission that they were about to embark on JR knew that they would probably now need that help more than ever.

Stepping out of the shower JR put on the his stormtrooper armour not knowing what kind of mission this would be.  He then packed his reached under his bed and grabbed his case which contained all of his melee weapons.  concealing the weapons into areas that he had added within his armour he grabbed his E-11 and headed for the hangar.  When he arrived he saw that he was the first one there.  He also saw a rack full of civilian clothes with each of the squad members names on them.  There was also a bucket beneath each set of clothes with an note attached.  JR walked towards his name and grabbed the note, on it was a small explanation of the type of clothing on hung above.

This mission will be one in which you MUST be undercover at all times.  The clothes provided are those which are worn on Moorja.  Also we have supplied you with mimetic armour which will make you invisible when worn.  Your squad leaders will brief you fully once they have arrived.
            Fury

JR changed into the clothes that were provided for him of which he chose a fairly ordinary pair of pants, a shirt and a jacket not wanting to draw too much attention to himself.  Knowing that they would be undercover, he removed his E-11 and dropped it along with his stormtrooper armor into the bucket.  He then did the best he could at concealing his melee weapons within his clothes and waited for the rest of his squad to arrive.

Squall stepped into his room to notice that everything was peace and quite.  It had been a long time since there was no activity.  His silence was broke by the humming of his com unit.  A familiar face came up on the screen, it was Mara.

"I have sent along with this message all the information you will need for our mission.  If you missed the briefing, you will be briefed on the spot.  To make a long story short, we are going to Moorja to settle political disputes.  Your supplies for the mission were dropped off in your quarters"

Equipment:
- Mimetic Armor
- E-11/H
- Civilian dress
- personal choice of holdout, melee and ranged weapons
- secure, encrypted comlinks
- personal micro-holorecorders

"Mimetic Armor?  I've heard of it, its suppose to cloak!" Squall thought to himself.

"YES!"

Squall put on the Civilian clothing, and packed all of his things that he would be taking along.  The armor fit in tightly in his pack, but it went in.  He double-checked everything one more time before he left, and then left his room.

******
The hyper time gave Squall a little bit of Leisure, but not much.  He walked into the rec room to find a few troopers playing cards and such, until after they arrrived at Moorja.
Games of Pazaak were being played, and Squall jumped right in.  It was a fun game, and one that could take up a lot of time.  Squall's father had once taught him how to play when he was young, but he had still to learn a few things about the game.

After playing a few games, Squall left the rec room, and preceeded to enter the hanger.  A few of the troopers were there, but a few were absent. There was also a new face, Angel.  He looked exactly like Phoenix, but was different in some way.  Also, another person from another squad was there.

Squall walked over to an area where Civilian clothing was set up.  A few of the outfits looked nice, but one really stood out to Squall.  It was black, and had a bit of a red trim around it.  It was a cloak, more flowing than any of the other clothing.  Squall went and put it on, and came back out.

A few people noticed it, and said they liked it too.  Squall walked over to wear his things were, and put the other Civilian clothing back.

A few more people arrived, and soon the hanger was full of people.  All of the Raiders were there, and a few others.  Everyone seemed to be packing up their things, and getting ready to put htem into the shuttle.

After the hyperspace exit, Mara and Angel stood in front of everyone.  They began to brief everyone once again, to make sure everything was understood....

Stonefish sat on his bunk, raking a comb through his iron grey hair. His duffel lay on the bunk behind him, still unpacked. The bunk in the Raiders barracks was hard, feeling unused and new. The lights, sounds and smells were unfamiliar. Stonefish stopped combing his hair and lay the comb down on the smooth, Imperial-issue sheets.

Was this really a good idea? he wondered.

Just then, the holocomm on his table started beeping, the red light flashing urgently with news of an incoming message. Stonefish walked over, sat down and activated the device. The screen sprang to life with an image of a shabbily dressed Rodian.

"Who is this?" he demanded, a little grouchily.

"Parda, I know it's been a few years, but you can't have forgotten me," replied Stonefish.

"Jarrod!" exclaimed the Rodian, "Good to see you again! What brings you to call your old friend Parda?"

"I need a favour."

"You know I owe you, Jarrod, but I have a business to run here."

"I respect that, Parda, I'm not asking for a freebie, but you have to do this for me. I can deposit the credits in your usual account. After it is done, I'll count us as square."

"Okay, Jarrod, what is it you want?"

"I need you to dig up some files that Tycho prepared for me about ten years ago. They should still be in a deposit box in the Bank of Coronet. The code word is 'Lazarus'. Once you have them, transmit them to the government offices on Moorja. They'll be able to take care of themselves after that."

"Okay, and how soon do you need that?"

"I'll pay double your usual fee if you get it done in the next twenty-four hours."

"I can do that."

"Thanks, Parda."

"No problem. Just remember we're square now."

The screen went dead, and Stonefish sat back with a sigh. It was time to put Ramon Stonefish away for a while. The files in question were a virus prepared by an old friend of Stonefish's for just this situation. Once sent, the administrators on Moorja would receive and look at what seemed to be a mundane report about crops and harvests, while the virus kicked in and hunted out the right systems to fiddle with the identities stored in security databases and census data. This way, Stonefish would not have to worry about the identity that his Vast Empire benefactors prepared for him being a little shakey. It would only be a backup. Besides this was no false identity that was being inserted. It was just that no one had seen or heard from Jarrod Traize for around ten years. But the old mercenary was still around, and possibly still wanted. But that was a good thing, since everyone who knew him then knew that he did not like the Empire one bit.

Now for the bait, Stonefish said inwardly, as he walked out of his quarters and toward the storage bays, and his stash.

Mara stood in front of her Raiders with Angel at her right side and Cy on her left... dressed in the outfit of the moment.  She looked over the ragtag group in front of her.  They looked pretty good.  Everyone was in the civilian clothing issued to them.  Mara wore a non descript fawn colored pants and blouse.  Her belt was leather with a bronze color buckle, and her olive-brown scuffed up boots were both comfortable and sentimental. She pulled these boots from a tucked away little place in her rarely used civilian clothing collection.  The boots came from her former life which she rarely thought much about.  Her ever defiant hair was restrained with pins that although made of metal, did not have the same obstinate will as the whisps of copper tinted locks had.  She held her now duct tape covered datapad in front of her.  Going over some last minute checks in her head.  Looking up at her squad she cleared her throat.

"All-right Raiders... last chance to grab anything you missed, we will be gone for a while.  Quick notes.  Otto is gone, he was needed in another squad, he is replaced by Stone Fish.  As for the fireteams Cy, Snipes and JR, you three will be with me.  Twizted, Squall and Fish, you will be with Angel.  Your project for the ride to  Moorja will be to work on your cover identity.  Your names have been issued to you by garrison.  We have a long ride so you have plenty of time to work on a pretty detailed cover personality.  If you need any help or feel that your creative juices are running low Angel, Cy and I are willing to help you out.  We just received news  Governor Jacob Kellson was assassinated.  I don't think I need to say much about how this escalates the situation.  We must move carefully and slowly during this mission.  Our cover characters are a very important key to this and I want to see a lot of thought put into your cover.  If one persons cover is blown it can not only compromise others cover it will most certainly cost your life.  We will not rush anything this mission, I know this is a new concept for us, and we will be stepping out of our element in a huge way, but I am positive you all will do wonderfully."

Mara looked to her fireteam leader, and smiled

"Cyanus will give us an exposition of the Mimetic armor.  I want you all to ask any questions you have on the armor now, I know its new to most of us,  so I want everyone comfortable with this  apparatus."

Cy looked at the troops preparing to demonstrate the intricacies of the new toy when Mara touched his shoulder

"Load them up when you are done with them, I need to go over the final checklist and insure garrison has no news or orders for us."

And with that Mara set off to ensure the supplies were all accounted for and that the Raiders would have everything they needed for their sortie.

Cyanus looked over the assembled troops and sneered slightly under his breath. Shortly after Mara left, he began the lecture, while putting the armor on. "The concepts behind this armor are really quite simple: to detect the surroundings and use the micro-display screens to blend into the environment. To cloak, you must push the black button on your left wrist." The Knight lightly pressed the small button on his wrist panel...and faded almost from sight. There was still his outline, to be sure, but that was all that was revealed, unless one puts on infrared sights. Then he was highly visible. At the moment though, none of the troopers carried such gear, being as they are in civilian clothing. Another quick tap and the trooper returned to full view.
"I shall spare you the technical details of this outfit," he announced, to the joy of the squad. Just as soon as they started to cheer aloud he silenced them with his raised finger. "You will read the manuals." A general groan came from the small crowd. Cyanus tossed his mimetic armor into the ship's hold. He had no time for these delays.
"Any questions? Good, I would not have answered them anyway. We board now," he said hastily, turning to their transport shuttle. His ever-present white cloak flapped menacingly in the air while his platinum-colored boots pounded the iron ramp. "Your manuals are inside the door. Get them, or I will get you. As Mara Jade requested, begin creating your personas. From this point on, you will call me Enea Konnu (the White Knight)," Cyanus concluded icily.
The cabin was actually quite roomy for a military transport. There were two rows of soft purple seats. The Krath knight chose a seat up in the front left seat, settling in near the porthole. He could see the Raiders still checking over their equipment and eventually packing the stuff into the cargo hold.
"Geez Cy, that briefing was cold," said Angel softly, settling down in the seat across from Cyanus' own. He showed his subordinate the rather thick manual he'd found just inside the door. "Almost tripped over this doorstop," He chuckled. "So, you thought about your background?"
"Yes, I have," was the plain answer.
In truth, Cyanus was writing it down as he spoke...

    The White Knight...
He was silent as a ghost, deadly as an assassin. He stalks those who would seek to oppress the populace. Starting out in life as a policeman on the now dead planet of Alderaan, he was set to be engaged when the Galactic Civil War broke out.
He joined the Rebellion of course, and was deployed as an agent on Ryloth when the Death Star totally blasted his home planet. This strengthened his resolve but the rebellion's rules prevented his openly attacking the nearby strong Imperial garrison. He soon left the organization and worked for a while as a freelance mercenary. He was still a mercenary when the Empire fell, as the profits proved too much to part with. His pursuit of one target took him to Moorja, where he stalks his Imperial prey. He needs the aid of the FFA to accomplish his mission and collect his reward, so he's on his way to meet the leader in an attempt to gain audience with him...

The containers sat in the cargo bay of the Nubian Yacht, stacked high. Stonefish stood in the harsh glare of the lights and admired his work. Crates of weapons and explosives should provide a good key to getting into one of the terror cells operating on Moorja. Turning, he saw Angel standing in the entrance to the bay with a curious cast to his features. Turning back a stray lock of his blonde hair, he walked over to the greying soldier.

"I was wondering what you were up to down here," he said, casting his eye over the stack of crates, "Now I'm really curious. What are you doing?"

"This is my plan for the Moorja operation," replied Stonefish, "and it's going to need a little...flex in the rules of engagement."

"Oh?" Angel said, quizzically.

"If we want to gain the full trust of the terrorists, we are going to have to become terrorists. Now there are ways and means of avoiding a bloodbath, but a certain level of casualties is to be expected on an operation like this."

"The orders I had from Command clearly said that civilian casualties were unacceptable. There is no room for maneuver there."

"Civilian casualties, yes. But people are going to die between us and closing down these terrorist units. We can minimise the losses with carefully timed and arranged warnings, and by sticking to military targets, we can avoid killing civilians."

"Anyway, your plan?"

"A long time ago, I was in the Stormtrooper Corps. The officer in charge of my unit back then ordered us to massacre a civilian protest. A bunch of hippies with placards having a nice, peaceful march down the street protesting some new law to do with environmentally questionable developments. I refused the order, and was forced to kill my unit before they killed me, or any of those civilians."

"Sounds a little treacherous on your part."

"Well, it was. But at the time, I felt justified. Anyway, after that, I spent a few years working first as a mercenary guard to a smuggler, and then as a smuggler myself. Had quite a reputation back then. Anything, anytime, anywhere. I went under the name Jarrod Traize back then. I'm hoping that some people will remember that name, and what went with it, and if they don't, then we'll just have to educate them. The crates have weapons and explosives in them. For sale, especially to people like the Red Crescent and the FFA, whatever the hell they want that to stand for this week."

"We?" Angel raised an eyebrow.

"Well, I will need a crew for this boat."

"I'm your superior, it should be my boat."

"I was thinking of that too. Think. Where's the attention going to be? On the person running the show. You're Force-trained. More than capable of doing what you need to do without being visibly in charge. It'll just be a sham anyway. Something for the public, or in our case: the bad guys."

"Okay, I'll think about it."

"Well hurry. In an operation as large as the Vast Empire, it's virtually guaranteed that someone will spill the beans about our little game sooner or later. With my plan, we might just survive that."

"Mara? Can I talk to you for a second?"

"Yeah sure Angel, what up?" The Raider SL replied, leading him into the cockpit of the shuttle.

"Fish came to me with great idea, and I'd like to go with it." Angel said, lowering his voice. "I want to take my fireteam on his yacht to Moorja. That way we wont draw any attention to the fact that all of us came at once then split up."

Shutting the hatch to the cockpit, Mara raised an intrigued eyebrow. "Go on. What is his plan?"

"Well, according to him, before he joined the Vast Empire, he was part of a smuggling ring under the name of Jarrod Traize. Using that name, he'll get us planetside and we'll pose as arms dealers. Spread the word we have merchandise to deal and lure out the groups."

Rubbing her temples in contemplation, Mara remained silent for a short time. Angel waited patiently, knowing full well the difficulty of making such a decision.

"You know what this means, right?" She said finally.

"Yep."

"The planetary garrison will have no records of you. You'll be completely cut off out there. No back up."

"Yep"

Sighing, Mara looked up at Angel, trying to read the man's face. "And you still want to do this?"

Angel nodded, "It takes a lot of variables out of the equation. If no one knows we're there, no one can sell us out."

"Very well then, inform your team. We leave in 15 minutes."

"Thank you Mara, you won't regret this." Angel said, patting his SL on the shoulder. "I promise."

'Yeah well just make sure YOU don't regret it." Mara shouted after him as he left the cockpit. Turning back to the controls she muttered, "Jedi..."

[OOC: Ok Fish, ball's in your court. The rest of my fireteam (Squall and Twizted), still are required to do backgrounds for their characters. You will still be using ID's sent to us from the Moorja garrison. /OOC:]

After reading the manual JR racked his mind for a good cover story.  It didn't take long before he had one that he liked.

    Saryndo Danizen

Saryndo was born in the lower levels of Coruscant, and was abandoned by his family at the age of fourteen.  He was forced to fight in the underground duelling rings to make just enough money to survive.  It was there that he became skilled at fighting with melee weapons.  He continued fighting for three years, however, after getting in a fight with the owner over his winnings Saryndo was banished from the ring.  He then wandered into a bar where he met a smuggler by the name of Dak Onasi.  The two became partners, and good friends.  A months ago Dak was shot down by an imperial trooper while they were on a smuggling run.  It was then that Saryndo swore to destroy the Imperials.  However, not liking the Republic, he decided to come to Moorja where he had heard of terrorists groups that were causing problems for the Imperials, it was there, he decided, that he would make a difference.

The 3 troopers stood in the hanger, as the yacht lifted off.  Squall walked over to Mara and handed her his background story.

Brock Krai'in

Age:20, Gender:Unknown, Political affiliation: Mandalorians, Homeworld:
Concord Dawn, Species:Mandalore, Eye color: Blue

The mandalorians were a race of fierce warrios who were wiped out shortly before the clone wars. The last known mandalorian was Jango Fett. He was killed during the battle of geonosis but was survived through his "son" and
millions of clones. Uknown to the galaxy, a small group of mandalorians had survived and remained hidden on Ord mantell. They had planned to resurface when they had learned the jedi order was destroyed. They detested the
clones, because they consider them direct mockeries of their organization. They knew at the moment they were too weak to appear, so they stayed hidden. A hundred years later, they feel it is time to return but not without some form of support. Brock, the current spokesman for the mandalorians, has  made a deal with an unknown member of the rebuilding republic......

The modified Nubian yacht hung in orbit, parked in orbit awaiting contact from Traffic Control. A dozen other craft were running in similar orbits to Stonefish's ship, which he had named the Lucky Break for the moment. He was still considering the name Darkstar.

He was still sitting in the pilot's chair when the comm crackled to life.

"Attention Lucky Break, this is Moorja traffic control. Please state your business and destination."

"Roger, Control, this is Lucky Break, hauling electronic components for Terium Corporation."

"Transmit your landing clearance now."

"Transmission commencing."

Stonefish and Angel waited as a tense few moments passed while the codes were processed by Moorja traffic control. Stonefish felt a bead of sweat work its way down the side of his face. He knew that he would never get away with that in a face-to-face encounter, and felt glad that it had happened now. The old mercenary in him said that he knew his enemy now, and could beat him. Just as that thought passed, the comm crackled to life again.

"Stand by for customs inspection, Lucky Break, release your controls to our authority."

"Roger, Control, transmitting control codes now."

Stonefish pushed a few buttons and took his hands off the controls.

"So what now?" asked Angel.

"Now, we wait, and hope that the customs agent is dumb enough to fall for what I have planned."

"And if they aren't?"

"Don't worry, they'll fall for it. Has Shadow finished going over his cover story yet?"

"Don't think so, but I haven't heard from him since we left. He's been holed up in his quarters, avoiding doing any work on the engines."

"Damn, we need him compos mentis in around an hour. If he isn't then we could be screwed here."

"I'll go kick him," said Angel, walking out with a smirk.

Stonefish sat back, watching the clouds dash past on the planet below. He considered his story should he be asked by the denizens of Moorja.

Jarrod Traize, formerly F-107 of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps. Slaughtered his squad after being ordered to fire on a peaceful protest, during which his sister was killed by the officer in charge of the squad. After that, he took the squad's gear, sold it and hired on the first freighter out of port as a mercenary guard. Over time he accrued a degree of respect from the other mercs and smugglers for his business ideals. Never breaking a contract. After his boss was killed in an Imperial attack, he took the ship for himself and continued the business for a while, then went into retirement, ambling around the galaxy, but never forgot the buzz of running a blockade. So now he's back in business and with a shipment of weapons for the highest bidder.

The docking clamp latched on to the customs ship with a clang. Stonefish stood by the airlock hatch, watching the panel, and listening to the hiss of air pressurising the small corridor between the two ships. After a few moments had passed, the panel lit up green, and Stonefish opened the airlock door to admit a squat, balding man with jowls hanging down from his big, red flushed face, and a vast paunch which lead him through the airlock hatch. Stonefish looked at him and wondered if he was going to fit through all the hatches on the way to the modified cargo hold.

"Okay then, I'm Inspector Harry Julre of Moorja Customs. I'm here to inspect your cargo. Lead me to the hold," he said.

"Follow me then," replied Stonefish.

The man squeezed and wheezed his way down to the hold, stopped every so often to lean on a bulkhead and catch his breath. He was almost scarlet and sweating by the time they reached the vast stacks of crates in the hold, all stenciled with the logo of the Terium Corporation.

"I didn't realise there were so many," said the official.

"Okay, let's make this a little easier on you then. Pick a stack," Stonefish indicated the stacks of crates, "There's ten crates in each stack."

"Let's look at that one," the fat man pointed.

Stonefish pushed a few buttons, and a loader droid whirred out of the shadows and started moving boxes around, laying the ten crates from the stack in a line in front of the customs official.

"Okay, ten boxes here. Pick five," Stonefish made a mental inventory of the boxes. Five of them contained the illegal weapons parts, five contained electronics components.

The inspector picked three weapons crates and two electronics crates.

"Okay," Stonefish pushed some buttons and the droid moved the five back to the stack, "Now pick three more."

The offical selected two electronics crates and one crate with weapons parts.

"Good," Stonefish had the droid move the other two back to the stack, "now pick one."

The balding man picked out the last weapons crate, which Stonefish promptly put back on the stack.

"Right, let's look in these two then," said Stonefish, walking over and popped the static seals on the two crates. Inside both were carefully packed microchips and circuit boards.

"That all seems to be in order," said the official, "If you could just escort me back to the airlock, you can be on your way."

After the airlock had closed behind the enormous official of Moorja Customs, Stonefish breathed a sigh of relief, and as the docking clamp disengaged, he made his way back to the cockpit.

"That went well then?" asked Angel from his place in the co-pilot's chair.

"You helped?" said Stonefish, suspiciously.

"Not much," grinned the Dark Jedi, "But he was going to be a little stubborn when you changed from keeping the crates to taking them away and back again. I changed his mind."

"Thanks, but I think I could have handled it."

"No problem."

Stonefish turned to the controls and fired up the engines, angling the ship down toward the surface of Moorja. As he entered the atmosphere, the hull started to glow cherry red with the friction, though this soon faded as the ship slowed. Below, a vast forest passed, with great tracts of land laying brown or scorched black from the war.

Soon, the signs of a battered civilisation appeared below them, dotted with piles of rubble, and construction sites with their great yellow- and red-painted cranes towering over the skeletal buildings like a warrior over a vanquished foe. Stonefish took the ship in low and examined the streets.

"Not many people about," he commented.

"They'll all be hiding indoors, hoping that it won't happen to them. Ostrich syndrome," replied Angel.

The vast array of the Moorja City Municipal Landing Grid approached, and Stonefish kicked in the retros, slowing the ship to hover above one of the open pits. The repulsorlift generators whined into life and the sleek yacht slowing descended to stop with a gentle bump on its landing struts.

"Right then," said Jarrod Traize, "Let's go find us some customers."

Mara's story was simple, always best to stay simple in case you get drunk and need to remember your cover... she couldnt pass for some tough hard edge bounty hunter or anything of the sorts... she was too petite and innocent looking to be taken seriously as a killer.  This of course worked to her advantage.

Ena Deirdre was bitter, the most important things in her life were gone... taken from her abruptly.  Her emerald eyes glowed fiercly with hate.  Her family had been on alderaan when they and everyone, everything else was destroyed.  She wasnt a violent person, but she would do anything to avenge the death of her family, even  if it meant killing.  She was looking for people that felt like she did, she wanted to take action, but didnt know how.. so she was looking for a group that could show her how to get even.  She wanted to help destroy the Empire
