Arturus almost bounced off his seat as the shuttle pilot bounced the shuttle down on the floor of the main hanger of the Atrus.  After waiting for the engines to shut down, Art grabbed his bags and headed for the ramp that was being lowered.  Once in the hanger he looked around before heading to Japheth's office to report back for duty.  After the long walk towards the fighter hanger, Art set his backs down outside the office and knocked on the door.

"Come in" Japheth called through the door.  Art entered and walked up to the desk throwing his customary sloppy salute.

"Ensign Arturus reporting back for duty Admiral."  Arturus said as he looked down at Japheth who was sitting at the desk.  Arturus shifted his weight onto one leg and crossed his arms as he waited.

"Welcome back Ensign, I see that your time in reserves has not taught you anymore discipline or respect than you had before you left."  Japheth said as he stood up and walked around the desk.

Arturus laughs. "Respect and discipline...me?  I dont have time for that shit.  Now then where am I being assigned, I need to sack out for a bit, my head is still throbbing"

"Hangover I imagine."  Japheth said as he sat down on the desk and frowned at Arturus.  "Alright Ensign I am assigning you to your old squadron...mostly because its the only active squadron we have left in VEN."

Arturus raises an eyebrow.  "Things that bad Admiral?"

"Unfortunately, however, you are not the only pilot to come back so we almost have a complete squadron ready now.  Kaph has been given shielded Tie Interceptors instead of the Tie bombers they used to fly.  They are our all purpose squadron now."  Japheth said as he reached behind him and picked up a folder.

"Well thats good to know, who do I report to now?"  Arturus asked.

Japheth opens the folder and examines it for a minute.  "Liquid is currently the Squadron Leader but I am moving him up to Training Officer.  I guess since you have been Kaph Leader twice before I might as have you fill his place.  Have him report to me once you report to him...dismissed!"  Japheth said as he handed over the folder and stood up.  Arturus took the folder and headed for the door.  "Ensign!"  Japheth shouted.  Arturus turned around and faced the admiral.

"Yes Admiral?"  Arturus put on one of his sarcastic grins then waited for a second before throwing a sloppy salute and exited the office. Arturus grabbed his bags and quickly made his way down to the Kaph area to report.

----------6 hours later----------

Arturus looked through what seemed like a thickfog.  He could hear someone shouting and his datapad was beeping.  Art slowly sat up and looked at the clock, it was only about 3pm.  "what the hell"  Arturus looked to the entrance to the door and saw one of his pilots standing there.

"Boss the admiral has called a meeting right now in the briefing room." The pilot called.  Arturus groaned and climbed out of bed, he looked down at his wrinkled clothes, he had fallen asleep the moment he had laid down it seemed.  He shifted his gunbelt so that it was centered and then grabbed his datapad and made his way quickly out of the room and into the briefing room.  When he arrived he saw the squadron already there as well as the admiral.

"Nice to see the squadron leader decided to join us."  Japheth said as he glared at Arturus.  "Now then, we have recieved an urgent message from one of our intelligence sources.  It looks as though the New Republic is planning an invasion of a little defended loyal Imperial planet.  The source indicates that the Republic is sending several troop ships and fighters in order to launch a surprise invasion.  VE High Command has ordered us to attempt to either stop the invasion before it starts or to severely reduce the force before it lands.  Once we do that we will attack the targets on the ground.  You will be flying your interceptors and I have left instructions for a ground pack complete with weaponry to be put in the cargo compartment of each fighter.  Should you be shot down in the atmosphere you may have to do a bit of fighting to escape.  The coordinates for the planet are being plugged into your hyperspace computers as we speak.  Any question?"  Japheth looked around the room.

"Admiral any indication what type or how many fighters we will be encountering?"  Vukan asked.

"Except to see X-wings and A-wings for sure, whether or not they send in something heavier to bombard ground targets Im not sure but be prepared for anything.  I have no indication fo numbers.  That reminds me of another thing, we are not sure if the Republic is going to send in any capital ships after the invasion starts in order to secure the system.  If they do report back and you will recieve further instructions during the mission."  Japheth responded.  "anything else?"  He looked around the room.  "Alright men, get suited up and head to your fighters, good luck"  Japheth concluded.  The squadron snapped to its feet and saluted as he left the room.

"Alright you guys lets move out, I want all of you in that hanger ready to go in five minutes!" Arturus ordered as he turned to head out of the briefing room.

Five minutes later, Arturus entered the hanger suited up and ready to go.  He was carrying his gloves, gunbelt and helmet with him.  He looked around and saw the rest of the squadron arriving, it was mission time.

It almost seemed as if everyone arrived at the hangar at the same time. The stomping of boots and the attitudes of each pilot could easily be heard.
A man with short black hair and a beard shadowing his face was already double checking his ship's systems. LoneWolf stood in front of the new tie fighter and casually checked everything listed on his datapad. He kept his head bowed down slightly, shadows concealing his eyes at all times. His entourage of droids did the root of his work while he supervised.
A leather weapon belt remained draped over his shoulder, twin blasters holstered on it, along with a metallic cylinder dangling from one of the hooks on it. The traditional black helmet of a tie pilot sat up-side-down on a console next to him.
The black leather suit easily submitted to his moves making next to no noise at all, it was a flight suit belonging to a veteran. Several patches decorated his sleeve, position, rank, and the eldest being his Aegis Squadron Commander patch (one he wore out of nostalgia).
LoneWolf took a moment to look up from his work, he studied all the pilots in Kaph Squadron, his comrades. Some of the faces were familiar others were not. Part of him was eager to see the effectiveness of this squadron, it was a good mix of old and new.
The pilot darted his eyes from each person and found his commander, Ensign Arturus looked eager to get the mission going as well as himself. The two nodded and LoneWolf went back to work, his placed the datapad down on the console and lifted up his helmet. "Time to suit up."

Chip powered up his TIE. He was in a fairly good mood due to the fact that he didn't have to fly in a death-trap Bomber anymore. If there was one kind of TIE that Chip loved, it was the Interceptor. And now he even had a shielded one to boot! Thee weren't any missile launchers, but Chip didn't much care about that. Engines humming away, he waited for the order to lead Third Flight out of the hangar.
He glanced at the picture pinned to the cockpit control panel. It showed two figures, nearly smudged out by oil stains and heavy handling. On the right side was Chip in is wool Union uniform. The dark blue of the sack coat and sky blue of the trousers were still bright and clean, as the outfit had just been issued. He wasn't sure why, but Sarah had really seemed to like the uniform, even though she disapproved of the military. He had even planned to wear it at their wedding. Of course, all those beautiful plans had been sent awry by the Rebels&
On the left was a pretty girl, about 15 years old at the time that the picture had been taken, in a grass green hoop skirt with long sleeves. Her light brown hair had been braided into one long chain that reached half-way down her back. Most ladies wore some sort of hat or bonnet when outside, but Srah had a sort of hair band made out of small white flowers.
"Okay Three, listen up. When we launch, there aren't gonna be any fancy formation moves, we're sticking to a simple diamond this time. Shaz, take my left wing, Chath on the right. Tiz, you stay back and high. You guys see any troop transports heading planetside, sing out. I still have an old score to settle with the Rebel infantry." And with any luck, Chip just might be able to save a few people on that loyal planet from the fate that he had been forced to suffer.

(OOC: chipmunk plz adjust your post slightly, Vukan's post has been deleted)

The pilots climbed up into their fighters and within a few minutes they left the hanger and entered the hanger of a corvette that was to drop them off at the target system.  Once the corvette arrived, the fighters would deploy and it would jump out of system and wait for the single to come back.  The fighters finished docking and the corvette jumped into hyperspace.

(OOC: Just a quick post to end the confusion, please read this)

Chip wondered how long the corvette was going to be in hyperspace. Did they have time to get out and stretch a little? Ah well. Let's see, he was sure he'd brought along a can of SunDrop. Where'd he put it? A yes, duct taped to the wall next to him. He cut the tape and popped the lid. Things were going to be a little interesting now. Just before shipping out, Chip's flight member Chatham had been yanked out of his TIE and dragged away in cuffs. They'd arrested Vukan too, but for a different reason. Well. Chip would just have to revise his formation plans on the swing of things. Chath had been offensive, but Chip had hoped to help him along and make a better person of him. Oh well. Back to revising...

LoneWolf remained reclined and relaxed in his tie as the two pilots got towed away in bindings. The black helmet on his shoulders briefly fallowed their movement past his viewport and shrugged as he reconfigured the squadron listing.
A calm voice filtered through the helmet, ""Great more holes in this roster we have to worry about.""
The Pilot finished fixing the list then went back to lounging in his seat with two gloved hands clasped on his helmet, as always he was more than ready to go. He impatiently checked the ETA on his heads-up-display then frowned at the couple of more minutes left on the clock. ""Time to go to work."" Toggling the com channel on his voice went to his wing mates, "flight two look lively, we're about to drop!"

Chip rapped his finger tips on the targeting display. Jeez, he just wanted to get going! The most stressful part of battle was not the fighting itself, but rather waiting for the fight to start. Well. He had new formations to come up with anyway. Might as well make use of the little time left.

"Okay three, here's the deal. Tizzir is still new, so I think he should still stay back behind. But instead of flying directly behind me, stay high and slightly to the right. Shazam, you keep your normal spot on the left. We'll look kinda funky that way, but maybe it'll throw the Reb's off some. Keep calm, keep active, and we'll make it through here just fine."

*Well...  Here goes...  Tell  me if I got something wrong before you delete my post Art.  I'll edit it severelly.

Shazam rolled his neck wearilly...  Get out fine he though...
He sat there, continuing to roll his neck when Art gave out the warning to pull out of the jump.  Chip gave them a few extra hints and tips before Art gave the final signal.
Suddenly they were in the darkness of space, a planet just ahead of them.  There was no sence of Rebel resistance in the area.  "Chip, what the hell..."
"I don't know..." he was saying but the sudden roar of engines and rockets filled thier ears.  A rebel dreadnaught jumped in about a kilometer from Shazam's flight.  Suddenly, more ships came out of nowhere, warships, fighters, carriers.
Chip got back to his sences and barroled his fighter around, the rest of the group following formation.  Chip was picking up speed, away from the dreadnaught...  Awekward, Shazam thought.
"Alrighty...  I got an idea, we're ganna rush that dreadnaught and force him away from the other ships.  If we're ganna stop this invasion, we're ganna need to split the group.  They'll be even easier targets if we can scatter the fighters as well.  Shazam, take note of the side you will be turning on, I don't want you getting nailed by enemy cannon fire."  With that, Chip swung his fighter around, heading the team straight towards the dreadnaught.
The dreadnaught was just firing at any random fire since none of the other flighters were attacking it.  Noticing the three fighter wing of tie intercepters, it changed its firing tragectories.
Chip had little need to move an inch because of how badly the dreadnaughts aim was, but Tizzer was having a heck of a time getting out of the way of the bolts that flew past Chip.  Shazam just sat on the left side, waiting for his turn to start spinning and spitting.
The team let off a burst of fire towards the dreadnaught, then flew overhead.  Shazam checked his left side than looped around, cutting in between the dreadnaught and the nearest cruiser.  Chip dived under the dreadnaught with Tizzer close at his tale, the both of them sending rapid fire towards the dreadnaughts left side.  The dreadnaught began to sway away from the laser fire, away from the rest of the fleet.  One of the other wings had copied their antics down and was trying to seperate a nebulon frigate from the pack, trying to get the troop carriers open for attack.
Shazam continued to fire at the small cruiser, then he got a curious idea.  "Chip, remember when we captured that Rebel starcruiser."  Chip was silent on the intercom for a moment.
"Yea...  I don't know if this would be the best time to get into a full scale battle with a ships crew.  We should have known better the last time."  Chip finally said.
"I'm not saying we actually get in there, how about we just take out the engines, then blow the weapons?"  Chip was silent again.  Chip suddenly redirected his laser fire towards the weapons burrowing in the sides of the cruiser.
"We'll wait to blow out those engines.  We wanna get this cruiser as far out as possible before we decide to disable it."  Shazam smirked arogently.
The weapons hadn't been to hard to take out considering the sheilds had been easy to take out on the small cruiser.  The dreadnaught was disabled about four and a half kilometers from the group...

"what a wonderful day in the neighborhood..."
commented blah as he stared out the cockpit in his interceptor.
"i recomend a compact fly-through of the fighters to break them off. we can blaze through and outrun them, and screwup the formation"
he checked all systems, including the 8-guage shotgun strapped to the floor.
"good to go.." he murmered to himself. "hope i live long enough to spend that 5000000..."

*Here's a twist for you Art...*
Normally, Shazam felt a little stupid running around in ties, but with the new intercepters, it was a pure joy just sitting around breaking formations and cutting down rebel forces.  Of course, his euphoria was soon altered when his fighter suddenly jolted.
It was of course the familier feeling of cannon fire on his hind side, he would have been dealt severe damage had it not been for the new shields...  Oh yes...
Shazam rolled while making a quick pull to his right side, indicating to Tizzer to change positions.  Chip soared ahead, waiting for the others to catch up.
The quick murmer of beeps coming from his right side made a chill go down his back as he checked the radar.  X-wings, and they were quite well equiped, Shazam thought taking notice of the missle lock.  Maybe I can out run them, he thought.  Tizzer seemed to get the idea and the both of them pushed it to full speed, racing towards Chip's tail end.
Shazam's view was suddenly disturbed by the sight of a bulk cruiser soaring through thier path, forcing Chip to pull up and the other two to seperate going oposite ways.  The quick murmer was silenced for the time being.  The stick was rattling in Shazam's hands as he made evasive manuevers around an oncoming rebel freighter.  One of the X-wings broke off towards him.
Shazam would no longer be able to outrun the X-wing do to the hazerdous obstacle course ahead of him.  Shazam slowed to eighty-percent throttle, not wanting to become a peice of goo on the side of a rebel cruiser.
The X-wing began to gain, very gragually, then the quick murmer was there in his ears again.  Shazam dove to his left in-between two cruisers going head to head.  The laser exchange was quite outrageous considering they were only two mini-cruisers; the X-wing decided to go around the mess to avoid being destroyed by the cross fire.  Good, Shazam thought to himself, he could get some more ground time and re-group with his team.
"Chip, go on ahead and stay in that general area...  I'll bring my guy to you.  Maybe we can cross paths or something.  Tizzer, watch for incoming craft as we begin Trans-firing...  I just made that word up..." Shazam smirked to himself.  "It shall be famous," he said as he circled in the interceptor, back around, heading towards the enemy X-wing.  The both of them were too close to get any shots off at all, instead the X-wing slowed just before Shazam had passed him, then looped into a small arch, catching a speed burst in the process.  The both of them excellerating to full speed, they're engines hummed loudly.  Shazam dodged in and out of incoming laser fire, moving along a steady path of descending cruisers.  He hadn't taken notice that the cruisers were getting closer to the planet.  Redirecting his thoughts his flight path, he looked for Chip and his fighter friend.
Ah...  There they were, he thought.  Chip's new interceptor gleamed in the light from the nearby planet.  The X-wing close by was slightly rusted and held no intrigue or beauty.
The two interceptors crossed paths, confusing one of the fighters, and forcing him away from his target.  Tizzer sped after him, looking for his first kill of the day.  Shazam looped around as Chip was being pursued by his unforving opponet.
He had managed to catch up, but whenever he would take a shot towards the fighter, it would jerk away, just in time.  How the hell...
"There is something really screwy about this guy, Chip.  I can't hit him.  I get these perfect shots and then he suddenly slips away." Shazam said sheepishly.
"Okay..."  Chip mustered as he pulled out of a hard dive.  "We're ganna need some interference real fast.  I don't think I can get away from this guy."  Tizzer came from Shazam's left, following suit.
"You want me to jump infront of him?" He said wearilly.  Shazam shook his head," Nope, but I will."
Shazam fell out of the loop, drifting sideways a bit.  "Here goes..."  Chip said, obviously thinking the plan was a bit stupid.  If the X-wing crashed into Shazam, he would be facing instant devestation.  Of course...  If it had been any normal pilot in that X-wing...
Shazam's intercepter flew between the two fighters, the X-wing diving over head only to be confronted by Tizzer's incoming laser fire...  Which didn't touch the fighter.  An escort ship suddenly came into view infront of the X-wing.  And with...  Jedi...  Reflexes, he barreled in perfect form under and around, meters from the ship.

*That's right...  Jedi...  Reflexes...

*Makes his herendious creativity cackle...

Chip had been in some confusing battles, but this one took the cake. He did know that there was some idiot X-wing on his tail and another on Shaz's. And the one on Shaz's was very, very good. "Okay boys, here's the deal. Tiz and I are gonna head toward Shaz, Shaz, head toward us. Remember how we practiced, everybody. Let's show these Rebel crack-whores how to play chicken." Chip and Tizzir circled wide, giving themselves enough room. When they were about 2 klicks away from Shaz and his tail, they pulled about and started running flat out for their troubled wingmate. The X-wings, not knowing any better, also hit full throttle to keep up the chase. Heh, this was gonna be fun...

About 1.5 klicks away, and Chips HUD targeting display turned bright green. Of course he couldn't fire yet, because Shaz was still in the way, but that would change soon enough.

1 klick. 0.5 kilcks. .25 klicks. "NOW!" Shaz yanked his stick hard right, then back. Chip and Tizzir did the same. They came almost solar panel to solar panel, then were back on their original courses, and blasting away at the Rebel X-wings now in their fronts. Natrually they couldn't stay on this course for longer than a second or they'd collide with the Rebels, but it was just enough time to land several cannon bolts and send the X-wings careening away. Muwhahaha!

"Regroup! Everybody come about and head for that freak who was following Shazam! Take the sucker down!" Chip smacked his Interceptor as hard left as he could, cutting throttle to turn sharper. Once he'd made the turn, he hit throttle back up and made a mental list of what he would need to paint another X-wing on the side of his hull.

Shazam dived the interceptor around the top of the Rebel Cruiser, the X-wing was closing in, the both of them at deadly speeds.  Persperation dripped across the side of his face as he pulled the stick left and right, barreling out of the way of incoming craft every once in a while.  He was always just out of range of the red bolts flying in the empty vacume.
He didn't dare take his eyes away from his view port, waiting anxiously in his seat for warning beeps or radar squeaks...
He made another evasive manuever as shots rang out in the distance of the battle.  They seemed to be circling the arena as Shazam pulled around an allied mini-cruiser, he wasn't sure how much luck he would have in a few minutes.
Shazam looked around for the rest of his flight, they were picking up speed in his direction.  He changed direction and headed towards them like Chip had suggested.  Afraid to fly in a straight line, he darted all over the place, but kept his nose towards the incoming fighters...
The X-wing was becoming a bit anxious too, it's fire was more rapid, and surprisingly...  More accurate.  Whenever Shazam would dart out, the X-wings tragectory for firing was simotanious, meeting his fighter half way...  It was as if he was reading his mind.
Chip was moving faster and faster as they approached eachother.  Then Chip did something a bit uncharacteristic...
The incoming fighter suddenly reared up, but interestingly enough...  The firing from the X-wing ceased for a moment, however, he didn't slacken up one bit.  The nose of the X-wing was as close as evev.  Tizzer headed straight towards him still, full speed.
Chip had went into a large loop and appeared to be attempting a fallback procedure, except he would fall-in with the X-wing instead of another allied fighter.  Tizzer must have thought he was going to play chicken with this guy.
Green laser fire spit out from Tizzer's cannon.  Reflexs served Shazam well, allowing him to steer away form the fire before it reached him.  What the hell?
What Shazam hadn't heard was Chip's fire going off at the same time in the opposite direction.  The X-wing was trapped and took a pounding on it's starboard side.  This was not enought to take out the battered X-wing fighter though.  It's master manuvered around the second volly of shots perfectly, taking into account the lack of speed and sudden lack of thrust.
Shazam didn't waste any time falling in line with Chip, Tizzer following his movements, the group of three hard at work to destroy this master fighter.  They might very well have gotten to him because his engines were losing fuel fast, and the turbolaser in the front was dead.  The shield had also been paralized;  the firing went on.  Five A-wings grouped up and headed towards them at full speed though, forcing them to break off and head away.  The fighter wouldn't be in this battle again...  Atleast not for a while...

Gah! 5 A-wings! Holy bazoli, what had Chip done to deserve THIS horrible fate! This was definitely going to take a lot of evasive manuvers., and Chip's hands were already getting tired from chasing that stupid X-wing.

"Jeez guys, we gotta do something about the bull's-eye painted on this flight. Alright, come about and head for that dang dreadnaght again. If it doesn't hit us, maybe the stray shots will hit the A's." Chip changed channels. "Til'c buddy, you still alive out there? My boys and I could use a hand with these friggin A-wings, and another Interceptor would be greatly appreciated."

"Finn'ly admittin' ya need me, eh? Alright man, I's on ma way."

Five A-wings, that finally stuck to Shazam for a moment...  That's not cool, it sunk in.
The three fighters made sure they had enought space infront and back of eachother for safe manuevering before attempting towards the cruiser.  Shazam's eyes dimmed a little bit...  He felt...  Possessed.
He looked out the right side viewport window, not even attempting to dodge the laser bolts all around his fighter.  A dreamlike state took over for a moment before he came back to his senses, he just wasn't thinking...  He was stiff at the wheel, he had thought.  The roar of cannon fire made him feel fear of being shot though, he pulled and barroled heading towards the cruiser.  The dreamlike state was still slightly in control, he was riding on reflex, he thought.
He wasn't trying to be special or anything, but when the crusier started firing at them, it was like he was sitting back just watching in auto-pilot.  The interceptor just moved aside as several bolts flew past, forcing the stalking A-wings to scatter for a moment.  He neared the cruiser, feeling a slight discomfort come over him just as he pulled out of the kamakazi dive.  The A-wings, afraid to have any new tails, decided to take seperate targets.
Shazam looked wearilly at the radar.  He didn't understand himself, he was just in a sudden gloomy state or something.  Nothing was phasing him at the moment.
Two of the A-wings decided to split off towards him, there was another two on Chip, and Tizzer had only managed to grab one tail.
Shazam continued to glide along, dodging aside the incoming fire, of course, he could only slightly guess where the fire was coming from, but he felt like he knew ahead of time.  He was in the zone, he thought.
The two fighters on his tale were, however, quickly dispersed by another wing of intercepters.  Shazam just had to do his footwork and wait for his tails to be picked off.  It was just that simple...  What the hell was wrong with him...?
He looked down at the floor  quickly, half expecting some kind of oxygen leak...  There was something different, he thought.  He couldn't keep his mind focuseed; he tried his hardest to keep his mind on the current battle.  Maybe it was that super master X-wing from earlier that put him in his Awe-flight mode.
It wouldn't be long before the Rebel ships landed on the ground.

Stang it all! Chip had been cut off from Shaz and Tiz by the stupid A-wings. He wasn't too worried about Shazam, Shaz could take care of himself. By Tizzir was still green, and Chip was terrified that the pilot would panick and get himself plastered. He jumped left and down, then yanked back up and right. A dash to the right and down took him underneath the dreadnaught, which was still pissing itself over being sepparated from the rest of the Rebel fleet.

"Til'c where are you? Tizzir is about done for, would'ja give him a hand, for criminee's sake?"

"Hang on, hang on. I's movin' as fast as I can!"

Jeez, the A-wings were still there. Chip's CMD reported that they were designated Blue 4 and 5. Hmm, Blue 4 must've been catching stray fire after all, as his shields were at 45%. Of course that wouldn't last long if he was left alone, A-wings were notorious for their weak but quick-recharging shields. Screw it. Chip hit full throttle, zipped under another flight of Interceptors, and snapped throttle to zero. The A-wings, also running as fast as they could, went right on by.

Bingo! Chip hit his throttle back up, and laid a lead trigger finger on Blue 4. Two bolts caught the A-wing. Three more. And a last two sent the sucker carrening into the dreadnaught's warhead launcher. A massive fireball erupted as the concussion missles stored inside the hull exploded. Bulkheads ruptured and buckled, crewmembers were blown into the vacuum and flash-frozen, and a major portion of the dreadnaught's air was vented.

"Yes! That thing isn't going anywhere near a landing zone now, ha ha! Alright boys, I'm on my way. Just hang on a minute more."

It didn't take long for the group of interceptors to catch the attention of more rebels, especially after they went out of their way to take down a crusier...
He was a bit sullen from his recent state of mind, but the blast seemed to have knocked him back into his regular sences.  The fighter was beeming with energy as Shazam looped in and out of incoming fighters.  There was a B-wing, which stood out like a sore thumb, then two X-wings.  Rebel fighters had been scattered everywhere and were without the rest of their wings, so they formed flights of thier own.  It was almost impressive how quickly they formed groups and started attacking.
The Two X-wings fell back a little bit from the B-wing, allowing it to fire at will.  The blast coming from this cannon were much fast than the X-wing he had been dealing with before.  One of the bolts touched surface with the side of his hull, glancing off the side it left a dark scar.  Were his shields operating correctly?  No time to think, the X-wings had linked thier fire and were now firing at will.
The group of interceptors mixed patternes in all sorts of directions, not dare to fly near another enemy cruiser, there would be no way of dodging incoming fire from both sides.  Nope, they'd simply run away, Shazam thought.
The group was having trouble turning while dodging the bolts, the B-wing was surprisingly accurate, but the X-wings fire would fly far off of thier course because of the constant jolts and dives of the intereceptors.
Shazam's fingers were itchy on the throttle, so, on instinct, he sped up.  It was an old trick, but maybe these guys wern't such great fliers.
The group increased speed, flying away from the battle Shazam could feel the hum of his engines vibrate all the way into the cockpit, moving his seat back and forth.
Now it was the Rebel's turn to worry, the imperial ships were moving to fast to keep up, leaving enough slack for a quick turn in direction.  As the fighter group began to seperate, Shazam had to jerk the ship less as well.  The fighters were going at maximum speed, enough for Shazam to feel uncomfotable at least.  He could here Chip's breathing on the intercom that he left on.
"Now!" Chip let out, and all three of them jumped the throttle to zero, Shazam flew forward into his strap.  The rebel craft flew overhead perfectly.  Regaining his composure, he jumped the throttle back to max, the interceptor, sleek and new, took very little time to get up to optimum speed.  The group quickly caught up to the rebels, scaring the be-jesus out of the as they neared.  The two X-wings were vibrating as they tried to turn at full speed, Shazam couldn't even guess what type of pain they were experiencing that cabin.  As they turned, the imperial craft met them half way, letting out sudden burst of laser fire that diminised the shields.  The B-wing was flying in so many different directions, that the X-wings were forced to back off even more.  The seperation made the one on the far left an easy target for Chip and Tizzer as he moved unto Chip's wing.  Shazam stayed on his target that bounced around in the middle.  It was taking to long for a single shot so he decided he link his lasers as well...  All he needed was one direct hit and the thing would crumble.  He took his time with the craft, missing a few times.  Finally, the B-wing flew into his fire and was anhilated...  But the X-wing on the right was flying strong.  Taking the hits that offered after the destruction of his companion.  The shields were very regenerative for some X-wing.  The X-wing that Chip and Tizzer were after finally fell to thier power.  The three of them regrouped and went after the last fighter.  The combined streanth of their fire finally won over the shields, and the hull was turned into scrap metal.
Chip, looking around for something new to do, realized that the troop carriers were heading towards the planet...  What the hell, he thought, apparently no-one had bothered to take out those ships.  And no wonder...  Three missle bearing fighters followed one of the troop carriers.  A group of X-wings was on the tail of another, and a Nebulon-B was on the left side, following closely, of two carriers.  They would have to break up the group as always...  But were would they find enough time to take out those ships...

No! Troop ships could not be allowed! The most obsvious targets were the bigger ones, but they were heavily escorted. But several assault transports had been left to fly their own formation, and they would make pretty targets. "Shaz, Tiz, let's take out those ATR's pronto. Concentrate on the point craft, it'll be a little more risky but we might be able to use the wreckage to send the others off course. Til'c, you still out there?"

"I's heah. And I heard what ya said. I got one othah guy with me, we'll take ;em from the othah side, an' sandwich 'em."

"Sweet. Alright people, let's move." Chip and his flight went wide infront and right of the ATR's, will Til'c and his buddy went to the rear and left. They started about two klicks away, then all turned in a converged at once. The combined might of the five Interceptors made short work of the first ATR, with the two nearby taking a respectable dose of stray overshoots. The wreckage wasn't quite what Chip had hoped for, and they circled about to make another pass.

Alright, throttle down to 66%, make the turn, bring throttle back up to 80%. The ATR turrets had gotten range of them now, red bolts zipping past. Alright, line up the targeting reticule...

Two bolts from the rear ATR contacted with Chip's port solar panel, blasting the top photovoltaic cells all over the top hatch and hull. "Jeez! I'm losing power here!" He flipped some toggle switches, rerouting power away from the destroyed cells. Engine power was failling, Chip lowered his cannon recharge rate to maintain speed. Crap, this meant that his shields had been down. How many shots had he taken?

"Alright, I'm alright! I'm just gonna have to watch my power levels is all."

(Note:  Thankyou Chip...  Wasn't sure if you would catch onto my bate that I was giving you.  Alrighty, I can finally post some interesting de-tail...)

Alright...  Now that was just plain weird...  Shazam's shields seem to be defective as well...  Tizzer had just got done saying he was going to rush one of the fighters.  Panic flooded through him.
"Tizzer, wait!" he exclaimed into the intercom.  Tizzer redirected his flightpath away.  "Form away from those fighters from a second."
"What's the deal, Shaz?" Chip asked curiously.
"I think our shields are defective.  Look at your schematics.  Mine says they're working at one hundred percent...  If that's so...  Then how did I get the burn on the side of my hull?" Shazam brought up.  There was silence on the com.
"Same here...  Says one hundred percent.  I think we've been getting really lucky guys.  We're being sabotaged." Chip ended abruptly.
"Lucky you warned me before I got to that guy...  I thought I was operating at full capacity.  I knew I was going to take some hits, but I might very well have been obliterated."  Tizzer said, almost shaking.  Shazam wasn't paying attention, he was looking for other defects in his craft.
"Atrus, this is PO2 Chip, we have a problem.  The shields on our fighters have a defect.  Could I get a report of other similar defects?"  The com fuzzed for a moment.
"A man came in about two minutes ago, said he was having some radar problems.  Nothing like...  Wait a minute.  We have two wing reports of defective shields."  The man on the deck scurried off.  Daishi was on the deck at the time, listening in on the conversation.  He walked over to the com unit," Hello flight thee, this is Daishi.  Could I get a quick recap oin your defect?" He asked.
Chip was a bit taken aback by the mans voice, but replied to the old ally.  "Yes sir...  One of our flight members noticed a connection between defects in our shields system.  We believe sabatoge may be involved.  Foul play might be adrift anyways.  Shazam recieved a cannon burn on the side of his hull, and I am losing power fast all over my ship.  I got hit pretty okay on one of my solar panel sections.  The power is currently being diverted to the other parts."  He reported with detail in his voice.
"Very well, maybe you should come back and get that wing fixed.  Also, it'll give us a chance to check out one of the new interceptors.  We hadn't checked for such a defect.  They're may be others.  For now, full alert."  Daishi pushed a button, allowing all squadrons to hear his voice.  "Full alert, beware of your shields men.  We have reason to believe your shields are defective despite what your scematics say.  We are currently looking into it...  Continue on."
Chip sighed into the com...  "Alright, lets turn back.  They're sending another squad at these guys.  We better check out whats going on with our ships."  With that, he turned his craft sharply, avoiding rubel drifting in space.

no response
upon the conclusion that his flight leader was dead, wounded, dazed, or had a falty comlink, he pulled in front and rolled around a little, stoped suddenly and speed up.....

((can i break off formation and go join shazam and co.?))

(Go on ahead...  I'm ganna make an OOC post like Japh suggested.  This is a bit of a shorter post, and I thought we'd just get along with the story and make our way to the planet.  Post story ideas on the OOC thing.)

Shazam sat in one of the Bay offices, half asleep.  Chip sat opposite him, looking through some kind of manuel, while Tizzer was trying to catch his thumb.  An officer walked through the doors, Shazam unaware of who he was at the moment asked," So, how's our ships?"  The officer eyed him angrilly.  Noticing his rudeness to an officer Chip shoved Shazam's side.  "Sir!  Yes...  How are our ships sir?"  He blurted quickly.  The officer took a seat at the desk.
"You were wrong...  Your shields don't have a defect..." The officer said.  Chip and Shazam looked at eachother cautiously.  The officer continued on, noticing their faces," You were wrong about them having a defect that is...  They simply arn't there.  We had a few technicians look into it and you have some kind of electrics problem...  It's like you've got some kind of sticker stuck on your schematics.  It just kind of stays there, leaving a false image."  This news brought a chill down Shazam's back.  They were flying shieldless under the illusion they were atleast semi-protected.  Not cool.
"So..."Catching himself," Sir, how long till we get back into the battle?"  The officer kind of made a shrug.  A questionable look went across his face.
"Well...  I'd say, if you want us to fix up those shield generators for you, maybe fourteen to sixteen hours, due to the lack of manpower and different more important problems at hand."  Chip slackened in his chair slightly, Tizzer looked in a dream state for a moment.
"There is one option though..."  The team perked up at this remark.  "We can escort you onto the planet and you will may be allowed to fly small fighters or maybe some skip speeders..."  He looked for an answer.  Shazam glanced at Chip, Chip glanced at Tizzer, who in turn returned the glance to Chip...  Awkward.
"I suppose if thats the only way to get into this fight, let's do this...  Do you think that our fighters can be brought to the planet?" Chip asked wearilly.
"I'll see what I can do, you'll be the first to hear if we can."
"Okay, so where do we go?"

"allrighty then, if there are no objections from flight leader, i will go bye bye now."
...
no response came across the comlink.
"bye bye now"
blah kicked the throttle up to max and aimed at the planet. he was trying to intercept the transports from above and dive through.
unfourtuantley, there was many fighters and many rebel ships...
thinking quickly, he flipped all systems off and coasted on inertia toward the transports like a meteor.
he sat back and made a mental note to design and install some sorta detachable solid or liquid fuel rocket. would be good for engine failures. also, some sorta manuvering jets that run off of compressed air and are not part of the main systems.

(Feel Free to start from here guys...)

Shazam was once again at his locker...  What shall I bring this time...  Shotguns were always useful, and so were his duel pistols, so maybe he should take them, he thought.  They told him to take whatever he could carry that is...  Shazam latched on a grenade to his belt.  Super, atleast if I get blown off my speeer bike, I'll be well equipped.  He swung his slugthrower over his shoulder, and then pulled out his new repeating pistol, and held it in hand.  No surprises tonight...

(OOC: In light of the fact that Tizzir has asked to be placed in the reserves, I've found a way to get him out of the fight.)

Good God, not this again! Chip couldn't believe it! He friggin' hated atmospheric flying, of any way, shape, or form! But here he was, stuck doing it again. And there was also a chance that he would be forced to play ground-pounder again, something that should have been left to the army stormtroopers. What was it with good navy pilots being sent to do the army's work? Chip sighed. There had to be some way to wiggle out of this. Hmm...

Light bulbs went off. Of course! Chip had his own personal starfighters! And Shazam had one, too! Muwhahaha, perfect! Chip ran to the deck officer. "Sir, sir! I just had an idea! Shazam and I can fly our personal fighters! Shazam has a StarViper, and I own a HLAF 500."

"And you r other flight member, Tizzir? What will he be flying?"

      "Err... Well..."

"Um, sirs? Excuse me, but if it's not too much trouble, I'd prefer to wait for my TIE to be fixed..."

Chip patted the young man on the back. He'd be less worried this way, the fighting was nasty out there and the last thing he wanted was to see Tiz get plastered. No, better to help him gain experience slowly. "No problem. You just wait here, then." Chip turned back to the deck officer. "Sir, regardless of wether or not my flight members come with me, I'd prefer to remain in space than enter the atmosphere. With your permission, I'd like to head back out in my HLAF 500."

what a feeling it is to fall in a dead fighter...
blah drifted past all his deadly enimes, ocuppied by the active fighters. dismissed as a truly dead fighter, this one was just in a coma. as evidenced when blah powered it up, skipped the checklist, and dove for the transports. he screamed down from above like a some sorta bird of prey. and like a bird-of-prey, he used his weapons to their maximum effectivness. he vilontley disasembled a transport's left engine in ball of fire and continued his dive down as he passed the startled transports, taking quick shots at the rest.

Muwhahaha! This was getting fun! At first the Rebels were suprised by the appearance of a personal fighter, but they figured that it must have been some local-yocal from the planet coming to assist in the "liberation" of his homeworld. Then Chip went and dropped a heavy space bomb straight into the bridge of the leading frigate. Boy, that was a pretty kabloom! A nice, beautiful fireball, engulfing many a fudged-up Rebel. Heh heh. Chip figured he wouldn't be allowed another nice cheap shot, but was still determined to kill the sucker frigate. He circled around, locked onto the engines, and dropped a pair of bombs. The rear of the frigate errupted, the engines were blown to smithereens, and the frigate began listing and pulling off at an odd angle.

"Sweet! There's one frigate that won't be bombarding the surface. He he he. Anybody wanna follow me along to hit that modified corvette heading for the atmosphere? I've got a few more bombs, just need a little cover to get in close enought to drop 'em..."

"Til'c heah. Ah'll head in with ya."

"In the words of a great song, '10-4, good buddy.' Heh. Anybody else wanna share some glory? How 'bout you Blah? Coming along? Just stay back and to the right of me, keep the fighters off my tail and see if you can hit some turbolaser turrets. Up for the job?"

Shazam had decided to go solo on the surface of the planet in his star viper.  He could here Chip's fun all the way down on the the planet.  To bad he wasn't sending bombs into frigates...  Oh well, stuck here now.  They had put him on a patrol to stop invading fighters.  Of couse, there hadn't been any yet...  Well...
Cannon fire erupted around the viper, Shazam's reaction time was perfect though.  He dropped the fighter to near zero speed.  Turning with the momentum he just created, he aimed his cannons at the incoming X-wings.  Whoa...  Way to many...
He didn't have enought to count, but he easilly estimated about a dozen.  Run away!!
He pushed his throttle to maximum and rushed the incoming fighters, giving them little time to react.  The starviper jumped speeds quickly and also had one of a kind control in skids.
The fighter rushed passed them, leaving air bumps in their paths, shaking thier ships tremendously.  The X-wings made a large loop then broke off into three groups, the one behind Shazam had decided to put themselves into a wide stance.  Clever...
Oh...  But your not that smart...  Shazam dived into the canopy below him, the planet had a warm breeze leaving him a bit breathless...  But as he plunged into the canopy he dropped the throttle in order to keep control.  Pulling the trigger, Shazam watched as trees were dismembered and branches were anihilated.  Cutting a clean path, he pushed the throttle up a little bit being sure to watch his back for quick cheap shots.  The X-wings behind him couldn't follow him in so they made a quick loop to try and stay above him as he jumped throught the trees.  Something caught his eye...
Caves...  Neato, he thought.  Maybe I can hide before they get a chance to shoot from above...  Making his decision fast, he plunged into an oncoming tunnel.  The fighter slowed to a halt inside the tunnel, Shazam switched to boundery radar.  It was a neat little system where it scanned about thirteen yards ahead for oncoming objects...  He didn't want to die crashing into some stupid bolder.  So he wouldn't he thought...
He turned on his com," This is Shazam reporting in, I was just forced into a cave on the planet here...  I'm kind of waiting for these X-wings to get bored looking for me..."  He reported solemly.  He didn't get an answer back, but it didn't seem to bother him at the moment, he was just glad to get away from that group.
Shazam felt around his cabin for the external lights.  Finally, feeling his fingers on the switch...  He flipped it, looking up out of the view port he found a cave opening.  It was man made though...  Hrm.  Is this imperial made?  He wasn't about to ask the com station where the nearest Imperial base was though, it wasn't worth taking the chance if he knew they wouldn't answer.
Maybe I whould just go explore then...

"sorry, maybe later. to low, out of orbit. howz about you take some of these transports out so i can take their escorts?"
his fighter pulled up in a giant loop, with one side in the trasports. perfect for attacking.
((kinda like this one guy in WWII who was the best pilot ever. he could strafe targets by doing continous loops in place, and shoot as he was pointing down))

Indeed...  So, he was stuck in a cave with a stupid lamp...  He had the right to feel stupid...  Right?
He took one more glance around the cavern before venturing futher; he had managed to find some shubery and blocked up the entrance a little bit.  He wouldn't be long he thought.
Holding his lamp at shoulder height, he headed down a narrow path of lime green stone, the light glimmered off the walls as he walked slowly past.  His feet meeting the ground made a spatter noise that echoed all around him.  Shazam made his way to little entrance weaving away from his fighter.  He stopped there for a moment, touching his hand to his comlink, he took a breath and stepped through the chipped area.  Some kind of tool had indeed been used to cut away the passage way.  His estimated it to be about four inches thick around the entrance.
On the otherside of the passageway, green vines hung from all areas, plants with large spaded leaves about six inches in diamter were scattered about the place with little patches of light green soil everyone in a while.  He lifted his head from the ground to look ahead at the surrounding area.  A waterfall hung in the distance, large boulders seemed to be pretruding from the wall as if stuck in place.  The only light seemed to be dim blue light coming from the water fall, natural light though.  Moisture was also thick in the air, making him sqirm uncomfotably in his suit.  This was not his type of comfort spot...  Not yet anyways.  He smirked at the thought.
Without thinking, he continued on, feeling safe for the moment he made swift grab at one of the plants.  He quickly retreived his hand.  His hand stung from paine.  Apparently these plants had thorns.  He craned his head to check the stem of the plant, to his horror he found the plant infested with dark maget looking creatrues with pincers and quite an ugly look across thier faces.  Finding himself in the middle of a moshpit of mass proportions, Shazam leeped with fright at the creepy little creatures.  He hated bugs...  Well, ugly ones that he didn't know much about...
He jogged to the water fall which had been about a quarter mile, kicking his heels up as he went.  He hated bugs, he hated bugs...  He could feel them trying to grab hold and bite him as he went.  Once he finally met the falls' edge, he leaped into the falling water in a vein attempt to dislodge the creatrues.  It had worked!  Warm water fell down all across his body as he stood in a small dug out fall bottom.  The water seemed to flow across a river bed and down into a small creek after it had arrived from the water fall.  He still stood there, quite stunned at the sudden beauty of the place.  He hadn't noticed a slight breeze swaying the bug infest plants; it truly looked beautiful.
Finally over his fear, Shazam took a glance around his new rest stop.  The water fall sprayed out light blue water from holes in the rocks, the water seemed like a blockade to the bottom of the waterfall.  He decided he'd investigate.
Walking through the downpoor of water, he found a large rock based wall with an opening in it.  Too many passages for him to count, he thought wearilly.  Remembering his comlink on his belt, he felt a sudden rage come over himself...  He was an idiot...  He looked down at the broken reciever.  He unlatched it discarded it into the mess of bugs and plants.  He still stood in water.  He walked up a small uprising towards the doorway; water dripped off him, his boots felt quite uncomfortable once he was out of the water.  The water swished inside, making a squinch sound every time he walked.
Once he was through this doorway he made so he had a good view of the place by taking a few steps away from the opening he had just walked through.  The place was full of reflective rocks.  Their sides were flat, catching the light like emeralds.  It was like standing in a mirror house, trying to find a simple way out without trying too hard.  He gave it his best effort to calm down and sort his brain out.  He didn't want to get lost.  He made a mental note.  Mirror room, mirror room, mirror room...
