(OOC:  Here is the beginning of the Naval Story.  We are starting with the standard space fight, we will not be finishing with it.  Be ready.  Remember, write realistically, you are not superman, you cannot shoot down 2000 ships and take no damage.  5 kills in a career is considered spectacular.  Also, this is war, and in war, people die.  Feel free to kill of AWOL members as well as any NPCs that you wish to bring in to fill out your squads.  Lastly, I will be paying 100,000 ICs out of my own pocket to the person with the most GOOD posts, meaning that they must have some substance.  May the Force be with you.)

The battle for Ugron was going well.  The fleet had dropped in just as planned, quickly reducing the its defenses to floating ash.  Now they had only to wait for the planet's capitulation.

In silent orbit around Ugron, JMac couldn't help but feel satisfied with himself.  Between the force, his piloting skills, and the Wraith, he was basically unstoppable.  Or at least invisible, which was basically the same thing.

"So, Liquid, you wanna tell me again why we had to bring in both the offensive fleet, and most of the defensive fleet," JMac asked.  "We could have taken this with just our squad.  They didn't even have any capital ships!"

"We really thought this was going to be a tough one," Liquid commed back.  "A large chunk of the Rebel's Second Fleet was supposed to be stationed here.  It looks like our intell was wrong again."

As if on cue, the space around them boiled, spewing force ship after ship.  JMac's radar picked up several ImpStars, a large assortment of smaller ships, and three interdictors.

Admiral K3R's stern voice blared over the comm. unit: "All right, it looks like we have a fight on our hands.  Kaph, Polaris, Viper, keep all fighters away from the Atrus.  Sting, Venom, Nemesis, see what you can do about those interdictors."

(Lets see some post ppl!)

LoneWolf stormed down the corridors of the Imperial Flagship The Atrus. His black flightsuit matching his hair and even his eyes by the look they gave. The resigned flight leader of Polaris hesitated as he entered the hangar.
Technically he wasn't issued a fighter since he had given up position in Polaris. He pondered things as he quickly ascended to the loading levels of the facility.
He hadn't gotten any rest from his last personal quest but it didn't stop him from wanting to get out in the fray.
The pilot passed by his previously issued fighter and walked over to his personal choice; his custom VF-4 Lightning III. He jumped down to the canopy and played with the still familiar switches and toggles the fighter had. It briefly brought nostalgia to his senses but he squashed the thought in an instant and prepped the alien fighter for take off.
In a heartbeat the engines whined to life and the Imperial recalled every nook and cranny the ship had. LoneWolf double checked his warheads and found a full payload of missiles. Grinning he recalled how he left it loaded from his last exploit with the nimble craft.

The Imperial jumped as he got a clear to take off, and chuckled as he shot out of the hangar.
Stars filled his concealed cockpit and he noticed the green bolts jump from Imperial to Rebel ship. He practiced the fragile controls of his fighter in a barrel roll. LoneWolf was almost startled to see that he dodged a few shots aimed at him.
The veteran brought his fighter in a loop and began the elegant dance that was dog fighting.

[OOC: What the hell.  /OOC]

Daishi had been away from the VEN for a VERY long time but he still knew what needed to be done.

Daishi had been waiting impatiantly for nearly a minute while the TIE Horror was outfitted with missles instead of the normal torpedo load it carried.

The TIE Hooror was not particullary frightening to behold until the sixteen missles it could fire at once came screaming toward a target.

The targeting system still hadn't been reliably adapted to target multiple enemies with one launch but once in a while it seemed to accept the idea.

The techs signaled he was ready to launch and shortly thereafter was given launch clearance from control.

Daishi was more acustomed to veiwing his battles from a holoprojection of the battle and issuing commands that way.

A quick snap roll allowed Daishi to avoid the brunt of a barrage of fire from a trio of X-wings that seemed to have decided that they'd try and blast fighters as they came out of the hanger.

Good tactic if you could evade the fire of the mothership long enough.

So far Daishi was the only represenative from Raptor on the field of battle but he knew his presance could still make quite an impact.

"A squadron of X-wings is taking turns trying to burn our fighters as they come out of the hanger.  I'll need assistance to keep them clear."  Daishi radioed as he watched the X-wings trade out after suffering some minor hits.

Overall the line seemed to be holding fairly well but slowly Daishi noticed more and more fighters were begining to slip through the perimiter.

"Drat too many problems to deal with all at once."  Daishi muttered to himself as he started to loop around to try and break up the X-wing squadron.

G5 was jolted from his rest by a the first blast to the shields of the Atrus. His first thought was that it was just his luck to be onboard during the Navy's first action in months. Then he realized it was his luck, and he might as well take advantage of it. His StarViper was in the hangar bay, and there were enemies outside. Nerf herding really was boring, anyways.
The Navy was short staffed, so no one thought twice about taking the time to prep and load a retired pilots fighter. Within 5 minutes of calling down to the hangar he received the call to launch. As the Viper broke the magnetic field holding in the ships air, he waggled his wings and dropped off, figuring to hide unter the Atrus until he could find a wing.
As he snapped back into a normal orientation relative to the battle he saw a lone fighter dart past on his starboard side. Rolling around to look he realized that it was the ugliness that could only be the TIE Horror. G5 made a call on the Raptor frequency, asking Daishi to fly his wing.
Rather than wait for a reply however, he darted around the Atrus and into the battle. As soon as the massive ship's shadow was cleared he was taking fire. Checking his radar, g5 began designating targets. His first was to be the A-wing attempting to strafe the gunship just to the port side of the Atrus.

[OOC: Dai, it's in your hands now as to whether or not you want a wing.]

"Madness..."  Shazam thought to himself as fighters rolled and dodged laser bolts.  The dark skies turned into a spectacular light show of mass proportions.
"Well, madness as it is..." he began, and pushed his throttle forward.
Just as the engines began to ignite, a blast shook the tie, and Shazam began to spin.  The world spun around and left him holding on to his seat.  He heard a voice over the intercom.  "You alright!"
As if someone had suddenly jolted him awake, he started pushin buttons.  "I've got a minor bolt injury on one of my left solar panels."  Shazam reported into the intercom.
Shazam tryed to level out the fighter, messing with the stabilizer switchs he managed to stop his downward spin.
Using whatever leverage he could, he managed the fighter into the battle.  Lasers flashed by him as lights went off on his monitors everywhere.  His radar lit up like a christmas tree, and Shazam started shooting.
He hadn't realized the bolts were his own until he manage to strike an A-wing.  The A-wing swing itself into a fine loop while barrelrolling Shazams fire.  "Oh yer good..." grinned Shazam.
"But not good enough" and with that, he jumped the throttle to full position.  The A-wing spun into veiw, it continued to loop going at medium throtle.  Shazam opposed his pattern and met him halfway through his form.  He blasted into the front of the A-wing, it spun into the madness of space.  Shazam grinned widely, but as the A-wing was to explode it colided with a nearby tie.  A master explosion erupted into the clear dark void.  Voices came over the intercom, and the void became a series of worried chatter and targeting info.  As all the chatter erupted another tie next to him became instant debris.  Shazam barreled out of the way as a few bolts passed his right solar panels.

"Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha!"

Up ahead, a squadron of Y-Wings dove towards the Atrus, firing Heavy Rockets as they went.  Now that wouldn't do.

"Ajax, Burst, deal with that," the Corellian ordered quickly.  "I'll take out the rockets."

His wingmen flying in to distract the wishbones, JMac was left free to take the rockets out.  Wraith dove down after the rockets, spewing forth deadly green splinters as soon as it acquired a targeting lock.  Typically it was fairly difficult to take out warheads, but rockets traded speed for power, so they weren't that hard, and were soon nothing but rapidly expanding atoms.

"Sir, we need some help back here," Ajax's strained voice came over the comm.

The Dark Jedi's radar showed that that was the understatement of the year.  The two rookies had managed to scatter the Y-Wing formation beautifully, but rather then break off and run, like he had told them to, they had decided to play at being heroes and take on the whole squadron by themselves.  JMac shook his head ruefully.  Y-Wings weren't the best ships the rebels ever made, but they could still hurt, a fact that his wing-mates were now finding out.

The Wraith spun around and came at the dogfight from underneath.  His lasers slammed into the Y-Wing's undefended belly, pounding at its shields and knocking it off course.  He kept going at full throttle, flying through the surprised squadron like a Dagobagian Flying Leech out of the Hells of the Sith, and out the other side before the slower craft could react.

"Burst, where's Ajax," JMac queried, seeing Burst break away from the squad.

"He got hit by an ion cannon, knocked him out of commission.  His ship is heading out of system."

"Not much we can do about that at the moment.  Form up on me, there are still plenty of bogies left to deal with."

Japheth stood silently on the bridge of the Atrus near the fore observation window. His eyes were closed, his face a mask of concentration. Japheth was known for being a largely hands-off tactician. He was leaving the large scale strategy where it belonged, with the Commander in Chief. He was dealing only with his ship and his wings, and only within the confines of the orders he was issued.

His senses were stretched to the limit of his abilities. He was not beyond utilizing his inborn affinity for using the Force for tactical advantage. Indeed a good leader used all of the resources at his disposal.

Ah, he thought, There it is. He had been looking for the group of Rebel bombers that would undoubtedly be trying to outmaneuver his fighter screen to gain a clear and unmolested path to a productive bombing run on the Atrus.

Japheth merely leaned down and spoke in a low tone to one of his flight control officers, "Mr. Jarx, there's a small Y-Wing group trying to outflank the fighter screen from below the plane of the ecliptic. See that they're dealt with."

Jarx would know what to do now. He was one of the best flight controllers in the Vast Empire, or he would not be stationed on the Atrus.

Resuming his position at the front of the bridge Japheth watched the forces move and attempted to predict, either through tactical thinking or through the Force, the next move of his opponent.

"MONEY!" Shazam said as he dived from under an exploding X-wing.
Shazam finally decided to look down at his control panel.  He shook his head at the trouble lights; he turned on the work lights.  Golden light lit the room, and Shazam reset himself in his seat.  Then he simply turned of the light again.
"I'm coming back to work guys...  Where's the bad guys?"
"Come help us with the Atrus.  There's bomber's everywhere.  Looks like we've got it handled but we probably shouldn't take any chances."
Shazam spun the fighter around and headed towards the Atrus at full speed.  Shazam loved to fly fast; he wasn't the best pilot, but he could get some speed out of his ships.
His targeting computer started to glow.  He looked down at the fighters.  Those arn't rebel...  He said to himself.

JMac flew in low behind another squadron of Y-Wings, getting lined up to fire.  His targeting computer was off, he didn't want them to know that he was there just yet.

"Burst, what are you going to do on my signal," JMac queried, pulling power from his lasers into is engines, just about ready.

"Sir, I'll launch two missles on the central Y-Wing while you take out the leader.  I'll then fire at a randon target as I fly up and through the debris.

"Show me," JMac ordered, kicking his engines up to full, locking onto the front Y-Wing, and firing.  His engines flared as he moved to his next target, firing as his first burst of missiles slammed into the leader.

"One down, plenty more to go."

His second target was aware of him by then, so he dodged out of formation, leaving a perfect hole to shoot through, adding even more confusion to the shattered flight.  This was fun.  So long as the Wraith's paint job wasn't scratched, which it wasn't so far, so it was still fun.

"Anyone out there?  I could really use some help out here."

What the *(&^, the sounded like Daishi.  A quick glance at his radar screen showed that it was indeed Daishi, apparently tangling with half a squadron near the planet.

"Burst, on me.  Hang on Dai, we'll be there soon."

"Sithspawn, no time.  My weapons are shot, engines are down.  I'm coming in for a hard splashdown on planet.  Send my coordinates to Japheth."

JMac relayed the information through Liquid back to Japheth.  The reply was not long in coming.

"We've got a problem on our hands.  Sensors are showing that Daishi went down in an area that has been showing a lot of enemy troop movement.  We can not let him be interrogated, he knows too much.  We're going too land on site with Polaris, Viper and Raptor are going to give us close air support.  Venom and the others will have to hold without us for awhile.  No time for a big plan, so we'll make it up as we go.  may the Force be with you."

Daishi silently cursed to himself as his fighter broke through the atmospheric interface and came in way too fast.

He'd barely had time to warn the forces on scene let alone punch a communication through to his otherself or his wife.

Daishi was glad he was at least able to wear his familliar Varneck Marine Combat Armor but this would be a major hinderance as well.

It was too easily recognized.

Since he and his otherself had racked up quite a few warcrimes to thier names this meant that he could be in a lot of trouble very quickly.  It also meant that any rescue attempts could find him easily.

Daishi was nearly out of time to think when he had no choice but to crash land.

The TIE Horror would not be easily replaced.

Pulling every trick he knew out of the book Daishi managed to slow the craft by turning perpindicular to the wind then turning back into the wind.

The modular warhead launchers also were not designed very aerodynamicly.  He'd lost two on reentry.

With his last moment before impact Daishi saw a forest in his path and quickly triggered every warhead dumbfired into the forest and prayed that it would make enough of a clear path for him to crash without killing himself.

The impact shook Daishi and he hit his head on some solid instrument and despite wearing armor was loosing conciousness fast.

With his last effort Daishi mashed the emergency shut off for all systems.

Slowly after some unkown amount of time Daishi began to come to.  Daishi with his limited knowladge of Emergency Feild Medicine knew he had a concussion.  His first job was to salvage what he could to survive then wait for rescue or capture, at this point it didn't much matter as neccessary medical treatmeant would be forth comming shorttly thereafter.

Liquid came in low towards the atmospheric layer, pushing the limits of his craft by bouncing off the atmosphere like a rock skipping off a pond. Sure, it was hard on him, but he could take it. He shut off his engines and turned his skanners downward to get an accurate position on Daishi's crash site.

"JMac, I have the coordinates, transmitting to the squadron now."

"Roger that, I got 'em. Awaiting further command."

"We'll head in from the east and land in the clearing that is about 2 Kilometers away. No doubt the Rebels will be all over the crash site by the time we land though, so have everyone prepared. I have a small weapons stash in my Tie. It should be enough for half the squadron, do you have any?"

"Yeah, I have a stash that oughtta arm the rest of us."

"Alright, you got your saber too, I presume."

"Of course I do."

"Good, I have a feeling we'll be needing them." Liquid's voice trailed off as he entered the atmosphere.

Daishi tried to stand and quickly fell back into his seat.  He wasn't sure if his sense of balance was that out of sorts of something was broken.  Either way he knew he wasn't going anywhere under his own power.

Daishi knew the kind of attention crash sites often drew and being a proper marine always kept a blaster rifle in the confined space of the TIE Horror's cockpit.

Daishi kept himself mentally busy be going over the status of the TIE Horror.  Thanks to what was left of the shields it didn't break up, though the port wing was gone.

All in all it was salvageble, but Daishi doubted that they'd have the opportunity.

Daishi could do nothing more then sit and wait and try and keep himself from falling asleep.

JMac dove low , skipping across the atmosphere like a rock, making several heat signatures for the Rebels to worry about  instead of just one.  When he was satisfied with the bit of misdirection, he slingshot around the planet to rejoin his squad and enter.

"Nice job keeping up with me, Burst."

"No problem.  The day I can't keep up with an old man like you is the day I trade in my commission for a job as a Huttese massuse."

The Corellian couldn't help but grin.  He couldn't be more then 5 years Burst's senior.  OH well, time to think of that later.  Right now he had the entry to deal with.  He eased down on his stick, dipping down into the atmosphere slowly, moving in synch with the other flaming comets that his squadron had become.  As soon as the entry friction had come, it was gone, and the TIE bombers began to yaw wildly as they were buffeted by wind.  In space they could dance.  In atmosphere, the large solar panels were more then a slight hinderance.  Still, they were well trained, and in a few STUs had managed to make the landing site.  JMac shut down his systems and opened the hatch to the planet's sweltering atmosphere.

Shazam managed to tear his eyes away from the figher's before him to listen to the voice on the com.
He quickly reported in and headed towards planet as several other fighters entered the atmosphere.
A few of the rebel fighters from earlier detached from their groups and followed closely.  A warning beep went off, and Shazam looked around for the cause.
"I've got a tail, somebody watch my spot" he said.  Somebody quickly gave him a return com and took his cover co-ords.
Shazam smiled maliciously as the fighter closest to him sped up.  He laughed and said," Let's play a little game off cat and mouse..."
A burst of canon fire went off and Shazam twirled; a little bit slower than usual because of his damaged solar panel.  Instead of matching his speed,  the fighter behind him slowed down and let the second speed  up.  Shazam quickly distingiused the second fighter as an b-wing.  As the s-foils unfolded out into the attack position, Shazam looked around for another dog fight.
On the far right hand side of the his fighter a battle raged between two  Tie's and an X-wing.

Daishi reached over to a computer panel and started up a diagnostic routine to mostly keep himself busy and awake.

What he had figured for himself from what he could see from his control chair was confirmed.

The port solar panal had broken off, the starboard solar panal was a couple meters under the surface.  The engines were shot.  The weapons systems were completely out.  The hull was severly damaged.  The shield generators were fried.  The SLAM system was a solid hunk of metel.  At least there wasn't any radiation leekage anywhere.

Daishi's head was too muddied from the concussion to do a self examination but he knew if he sat here much longer he'd either be captured or any rescue attempt had met resistance and he'd be on his own.

With that Daishi was convinced either his particular brand of luck held true or that he was hallucinating.

Several shapes were moving around the periphial field of view that his cockpit afforded.

All Daishi could do was grab his rifle and pray that he didn't have to blast the first poor fool that opened the hatch.

Shazam piled into the dog fight before him, drawing the fire off of himself as he sped up.
"Ha. Three to three." he grinned.
As if reading his mind, one of the ties barreled off to the side just as Shazam started firing at the X-wing.  The X-wing, alarmed by his sudden attacker, pulled up and around.  Now the other tie seemed to motion off in an odd loop.
Shazam throttled after the escaping X-wing and started firing.  His two other buddies had gone off and formed up on Shazam tail attackers.
Shazam got a quick glance at the battles below.  The Atrus seemed to be in fine shape as it manouvered against a cruiser.
An explosion went off as one of the ties burst fire through a following X-wing.  The other X-wing seemed to find that he no longer had a team to work with and tried to escape.  The two ties made a wide turn and took their time.
Shazam turned his attention back to the X-wing infront of him.  It seemed to follow an odd looping pattern.  It would loop and slowly barrel at the same time, then choose a random dive.  Shazam followed suit, going the opposite direction, all the while slowing down to keep the X-wing in his sights at all times.
Some voice was trying to get through on his com, but Shazam was to caught up in the fighter he had not heard a word.
Shazam focused on an acute angle, waiting for a random dive from the fighter.  Right, left, twirl, loop, barrel....  Shazam was becoming impatient when finally the X-wing dived for the area he had been waiting for.
He let out a burst of fire, obviously hitting something, because the X-wing started to twirl madly.  Apparently, his shields had been knocked out ahead of time.
In a brilliant flash, the Shazam's fire reached the fuel cells and destroyed the X-wing.
Shazam smiled for a moment, then pushed the com button.  "Shazam of Polaris reporting in.  Anyone still out there?"
He heard a few muffled reports, and some one saying that they were supposed to head down to the planet.
"Guys, we've got a cruiser that just jumped in.  Not a rebel one though.  I don't beleive so.  No insigna or anything.  Not a model I recognize either.  Group up and fly over there."
"Alrighty..." Shazam replied.  " I'm ganna stay here and guard the planet...  So...  We need four of five people to head out to that cruiser."  Again he heard some muffled sounds that sounded like volenteers.  Shazam shrugged and returned to the planet.
It glowed menacingly in the dark space.  All around Shazam, bolts lit the sky.  He loved it.
BOOM-  An explosion rocked his ship, throwing Shazam into his control panel.  Another couple of blast sounded off before he even sat up.
The cruiser they had just been talking about, was now instant oatmeal.  The com was flooded with questions.
"We've got seven ties down.  Somebody else just crashed into the Atrus.  Two other ties seem to have gotten a bit of a shockwave and currently have something busted on a panel."
"Who hit that thing?" Shazam looked around bewilderd as TIE debris filtered trhough the atmosphere of the nearby planet.
"We don't know, it just exploded.  Quite a blast range as well.  Not normal for such a small cruiser."
"Report in guys." Shazam called into the com.  This tie he got one or two jittery voices.  His team had just been cut in half.  Ice went up his veins.
"What the hell!" he nailed his fist against against the control board.
"I need a drink."  Shazam said.  He turned his craft around and headed towards the nearest allied cruiser.  "I need to dock, and rest up a bit.  Comin' in..."

Chippy was not fond of atmospherical flying, so he had been one of the volunteers to watch the new cruiser. Pulling back out of the planet's atmosphere, he just had enough time to see the cruiser self-destruct. It had been running full throttle for the Atrus, apparently trying to kammikazee, when the handful of TIE's had started coming towards it. One Kaph pilot had been so damaged by the explosion, he had lost control and slammed into the Atrus. Things were no longer going so well.
"Damn! Two cannons out!" Chippy's starboard solar pannel was damaged, and both cannons on that side were now beyond firing. The TIE Interceptor was listing and pulling starboard, and Chip had a helluva time keeping her steady. Keying his comm, he called "Can anybody gimmee cover till I get to the hanger? This TIE's not gonna last long..."

Looking over the motley crew, JMac couldn't help but mutter a curse.  Few of the Kaph pilots had any real groundside experience, and thos ethat did had not fared very well.  They certainly couldn't count on superior numbers with half their squad lost and Polaris apparently neglecting orders and staying space-side.  Their armament was unorthodox at best.  Yes, this would be an interesting rescue.

"All right," Liquid began, "here is what is going to happen.  We are going in quietly, even with Viper giving us air support we don't have the firepower to last long in a straight out fight.  We are going to move fast and hit them before they know what is going on.  JMac, you scout ahead and find out what is goping on.  The rest of you, on me."

With that the Corellian Jedi sped off, moving at the speed of sound, but at the same time being quiet as the dead.  He might lose in a straight up fight, but there were few, if any, sentients in  the galaxy who had as good a mastery over the art of stealth.

After a few moments, the woods that they had landed in had thinned out, giving way to gently rolling hills.  As JMac came up over the next ridge, JMac bit back a curse and dropped to his belly.  SPread out through the valley was what appeared to be a squad of hovertanks, and at the rate they were moving the way wouldn't be clear for some time.

Pulling his comlink out of his pocket, JMac murmered softly: "Warmaker, I need a strike at the following coordinates..."

A warm breeze filtered throught the vent above Shazam and Chipmunk's head.  They sat across from another at a bright white table in the lunch room of one of the allied cruisers.
Foods and drinks lined the walls, with a small serving center where customer's ordered.
"Certainly smells good doesn't it," Chipmunk said.  Shazam turned his head.
"You saw it didn't you?" Shazam staggered.  Chipmunk chuckled and nodded his head.
"Yup.  Quite a nasty little explosion it was too.  You get any dammage to your fighter?"  Shazam made a "kinda" sign with his hand and told about the dogfights he encountered.
"I've had a couple of those nasty little two on one fights myself." Chipmunk said as the conversation ended.
"Well, I'm ganna go to the bridge and find out when I take off.  See if I can fix up a bit in the hanger as well.  Good luck, and god speed.  Heh."
Chipmunk made a little 'later' gesture as Shazam walked out the door with crumbs falling from his mouth.
The bridge was a dark fury of noise.  Scamatics littered the screens with an eerie light as Shazam walked.
Shazam found the nearest hanger supervisor on deck and found his take off times.  "Your solar panels have been repaired.  No big deal.  Get er done."  With that, the officer slapped Shazam on the back and he headed off some where into the shadows.
Shazam smiled.  I'm going back into god know's what, he said to himself.  Goody...

This sucked. Everyone else was out pulling their weight, and Chippy was stuck in the hanger with a busted TIE. He knew it wasn't pretty out there, and many times he had wished he was back in the hanger. But he HATED to be grounded while everyone else was in danger. Finally he couldn't take it any longer. Walking up to the deck officer, he requested to be allowed to return to the fight in a different TIE.
"Just got this other Interceptor ready, I know you fly them usually, so you should be fine."
"Thank you, sir. You have no idea how much I appreciate it." He spotted Shazam powering up his own TIE, and commed him. "Shazam, I need a wingman. You up for the job? The rescue party is gonna need all the fire support they can get. I normally hate atmospheric flying, and with a passion, but today I'll make an exception for it."
The green pilot still had that glow, the kind of joy held by raw recruits who didn't realize just how awful war was. "You got it. I'm going back into God knows what.... Goody!"
They pulled out of the hangar as a pair of Y-wings began setting up for a attack run. Chip figured the Atrus could hold it's own, but figured the least he could do was break up their formation. He lined up, leaving his HUD targeting reticule slightly infront of the lead Y-wing. "Shazam, take the second Y-wing. Don't worry about killing it, just force them to break off their attack. We don't have much time to waste here." Silently cursing himself, he didn't add "I still have to get back and prove to the rest of Viper that I'm still worth something..."
He let a burst of cannon fire arc just infront of the lead Rebel, a pair of shoots catching the craft on the nose. The were dissipated by the shields, but they had the effect that was needed. Both Y-wings broke off their flight path and retreated. "Alright, let's go help out the guys."
What Chippy didn't realize was that the pair of Rebels had retreated, circled arround, and fallen in behind Shazam and himself. Red bolts came at the two Imperials from the rear, taking them by suprise. His fighter was rocked by an explosion, and warning lights went off all over the cockpit. Damn, not two TIE's in one day! At this rate, he'd be demoted! "Mayday, mayday, I am SO going down!"

Chipmunks muffled cry went out across the com as Shazam swervered from the Explosion.  Shazam quickly looped sideways attempting to get behind the Y-wings, but one had quickly broken off.
"Chipmunk, you ganna make it?" said Shazam into the com.  He got a return com that sounded something like a very cocky yes...
Shazam grinned and barreled behind the first Y-wing.  As expected the second filed in behind him and began random fire at Shazam's fighter.
The Tie easilly avoided the slow shots and continued to follow smoothly behind the first Y-wing.  Shazam pushed the throttle a little bit, being careful not to get to close to the first Y-wing.
The second Y-wing's accuracy was becoming poor do to the distance appart they had suddenly become; it tried to correct only with error after error.  Every time the bomber tried to catch Shazam, he'd simply speed up, but stay far enough away from the first one.
It looked as if the two Y-wings were two points.  A and B.  Shazam was simply a vertice who seemed to be bending the path a bit.
When it became apparent his partner hadn't been accomplishing his goal, the first Y-wing started giving some very sudden jerks and dives.  Careful to keep the Y-wing in his view, Shazam sped up even more; he noticed he was at nearly full throttle.  A very dangerous speed to be following so closely.
His finger layed upon the trigger, ready at any second for it to pop up.  Suddenly, as if on cue, the fighter rolled up and was nailed by Shazam's fire.
Shazam could see the sheild weaken under his fire, and the ship vibrate and rattle with un-ease.
The second fighter broke off from behind Shazam and began an escape towards no-where.
"I think I'll be able to carry on," came Chipmunks muffled voice.
"Nice flying, keep it up.  Now follow me, stay on my wing.  Atmospheric flying give's me the willies, so don't get to close..."  With that, Shazam fell in line with Chipmunks battered ship as they drifted towards the glowing orb.

One flight of TIE Interceptors flashed overhead, taking potshots at the 8 tanks as they went.  Their lasers managed to cook the few ground troops that were scattered about, but the tank's sheild's held.  As the Corellian watched helplessly, one of the tanks managed to react in time, cooking one of the Imperial Craft before it could get away.

Warmakers voice came over the comm, "Sithspawn JMac, we don't have the firepower to seriously hurt something like that."

"All right, so we do something else.  Are any of the Atrus's guns free at the moment."

The Dark Jedi could almost hear the laughter in his Wing Commander's voice.  "I think they could manage for a second.  You'd better get clear though, our gunners hjaven't done anything like that for awhile."

"I'm already gone," JMac replied, already sprinting away.  After clearing maybe a quarter-klick, he ran into the rest of the team, making their way towards the crashed fighter.

"I'd get down, if I were you," JMac said to the startled pointman whom hadn't noticed his approach.  As the confused pilot stammered out a question, the sky lit up and the groud bucked.

The Atrus was firing at the planet! What in Hell was going on? Chippy had just barely managed to regain flight control, and with Shazam on his wing, was now headed for the planet. Annoyed, Chippy flipped a few toggle switches, with no response. Dang it, some of the electrical systems were down. They weren't anything terriblly important, but it did piss Chip off. "This just isn't my day..." he thought to himself.
Careful to avoid whatever it was that the Atrus had decided to drill through, Chipppy commed Warmaker. "Sir, I've managed to get a new TIE, but now this one's near fried, too. I have CRW Shazam, of Polaris, on my wing. Where do you want me, sir?"

Daishi chuckled to himself before he realized what the sudden bolt from the sky meant.

His rescuers had met opposition and the shadoy figures outside were not friendly.  Daishi was reasonably sure his injuries weren't messing with his vision since it appeared that they were green troops trying to sneak up on a downed pilot.

Daishi looked up at the hatch as he heard someone starting to open it.

Daishi gripped his rifle even tighter and waited for the first figure to pop into view.

A few moments later Daishi's patience was rewarded.

Shazam shrugged in his pilot chair as Chipmunk gave him some coordinates.
The two of them had entered through the atmosphere, Chipmunk a little rougher than Shazams, and were now drifting towards a wooded area.
"That entry could've gone better," Chipmunk started," My entire body was vibrating..."  Shazam grinned at this...
The area below was becoming thicker as the two of them drifted lower and farther.
"Let's not drift to low, we might get caught be fire from the canopy.  And don't fly straight..." came Chipmunks voice.
"I heard that a thousand times at the academy," chuckled Shazam.
"You're ganna here it a thousand more times from me," replied Chipmunk with a bit more athority this time.
This was only the beginning of Chipmunk's irratation.  Shazam started to hum some jazz song, un-aware of doing so...
"Shazam shut-up.  We're searching the tree tops bud.  And if your ganna hum as my wingman, make sure it's something other than communal jazz you here on the side of a street at the bottom of Coruscant!"  Shazam shut up.  Next time he'd bring cards.
As he was thinking about the last time he'd ever seen a decent ground fight, he was interupted by an annoying hum.
What the hell, Shazam thought.  The sound was registered somewhere in his brain, but at the moment it was not coming to him.
"Z-95's incoming from the west!" came Chipmunk's voice over the com.  Missle Lock!
"Shit," he said as he suddenly remembered what that soft hum meant.
Chipmunk was already flying higher, as a clearing appeared ahead.  "I'm ganna fly low man.  See if you can get behind 'em er somethin." Shazam said.
"We won't have much of a chance against those bud.  We're not worthy of a dog fight right now.  Not this type anyways."
Shazam sped low as he closed on the clearing.  The tree tops suddenly became grasses of all sorts.  He heard Chipmunk report their coordinates over the com.  A muffled voice replied.
"We some one on the way, hold on..." Chipmunk's voice rang out in the small cabin.
As he sped up, Shazam could here the tall grass passing 17 meters below.  The Z-95's sped up cautiously, apparently, they decided not to waste their missles upon Shazam's one hit kill fighter.  Shazam's face became darker as Chipmunks lowered his altitude to half what it had been earlier.
Thirty meter tall trees appeared at the top of the hill, widely spread.  Shazam swerved in and out of them to avoid the z-95's fire.  Chipmunk stayed above the tree line, trying to get an open shot at one of the two Z-95's.
They were so quick, Shazam thought to himself.  "We're manuverable but those guys'll catch us before we exit the area." Shazam commented into the com.
    Chipmunk said nothing.
Shazam continued to dodge in and out until one of the Z-95's backed off, and pulled above the tree line to retreat.  The second one followed suit.
"What the hell.  Some luck, eh?" Shazam said into the com.
"Doubtful...  Somethin scared 'em off, they wern't called back.  They'd of had us before we reached the next clearing.  Keep your eyes open.  They can see something we can't."  Chipmunk said suspiciouly.  Shazam flew above the tree line, trying to keep cautious.  I wonder what could scare them off when there were only two of us, thought Shazam...

(OOC: i post once and you guys go crazy! sheesh, ill try to catch up...)

The alien fighter which was LoneWolf's remained perched in the upper atmosphere reluctant to enter the fray in the skies. Normally the skillful pilot would spare no thought entering a fray in his very aerodynamic fighter however the battle in space had been costly. It seemed as if he held no recollection of what had happened all he knew was that he was still alive.
His voiced eased his hard breathing with a sharp curse and he double checked his systems.
The rare fighter managed to have a fry most of it's systems after a close encounter with an X-wing. To add to the disabilities on his list, shards of one wing now floated beside him like blood from a soldier. It was clear that LoneWolf would remain present in the cold endless grasp of space for the time being.

It wasn't like he needed a good wing to fly, thought LoneWolf. He eased up the throttle which had been switched off for a few minutes. He had watched the battle progress and saw the damage of war. He now jolted forward in his fullest speed, like a mad missile heading for doom.
If he was a rational pilot he would avoid the course he was taking, however the imperial hadn't been that person for a long time.
His fighter left a gray wispy trail of damage as he began to pierce the atmosphere. The fighter shook and rumbled as the light sky filled his vision. The heated tips and curves of his ship faded away to the color it normally was, and the imperial could spot the ground far below him as he teasingly performed a barrel roll. His fighter limped on one side, flying uneven and even turning slightly towards the damaged wing.

He checked his sensors and found rebels sprawled out over the surface. The chatter on his radio seemed to stop and the imperial was about to check when he found a lone X-wing.
The muscles on his limbs tensed up as did his grip on the controls. It appeared that the enemy hadn't spotted him for whatever reason.
The cross hairs symbolizing his targeting computer locked on and blinked lock confirmation. The expert released the warhead but was bewildered when nothing happened. Green text shot across the screen simply stating: "Warhead Malfunction." LoneWolf cursed as he saw the expected repair time, he toggled a few switches then prepared to engage with laser cannons.

The rebel craft wasn't even poised in attack mode, if LoneWolf struck fast he could take it out of the sky in a clean pass.
His fighter fired it's engines to full and the VF-4 spun at it's target.
It seemed as if the sleepy pilot finally noticed the unfriendly, and opened his S-foils. The Republic fighter vainly shifted to attack position as a stream of green streaks ripped through it.
LoneWolf laughed mechanically as his craft zipped by, a glimpse of a burning man in an orange suit bringing pleasure to his wicked ways.
Celebration was short lived as the imperial pilot noticed the rest of the squadron emerge from the clouds. The Imperial shot his fighter away from them as fast as his ship could go. He checked his sensors to find a few groups of friendly signals in the sky. "I suppose I should meet up with someone before this scum catches up to me." As he gained distance however it seemed like no pursuit fallowed. All the Dark Jedi could assume was that his fighter was faster then he remembered. He checked his sensors and decided to find someone who needed his help.

The origanal plan was to meet the rest of the team half way...  However, it seemed Shazam and Chipmunk's trouble had been scared off by something.
Shazam kept his eye's peeled as he flew above the canapies.  He could feel the warm air from the outside, waft into his ship.  So comfortable, Shazam thought to himself.  But he noticed he was day dreaming and ripped his eye's back to the forest below.
Chipmunk was simply sitting there flying around.  That's all there was to it.  All though he really wanted to find whoever was lost, and help out those in need...  He was just flying around.  It brought a bit of an odd smile to Shazam.
The two battered cruiser's continued on, until they saw a clearing, then pulled up, and sped into the clouds.
The suns appeared to be setting...  Beautiful site...  If you were on the ground...
"My god.  Ever seen somethin that bright?" Shazam said over the com, trying to sheild his eyes.
"We gotta find a way around that sun.  Maybe we should get low again."
Before they did anything, turbo-lasers ripped from the forest canopy and nearly destoyed Shazam.

With a nod to Liquid and all of his squadmates who weren't able to use to force for balance, JMac sped off again, pulling the force around himself like a cloak to speed his movements and deaden his noise. Before long, he came to the valley that used to hold the small squad of tanks that blocked their path.  The blackened crater that remained brought a smile to the dark man's lips, but he kept moving on, thinking that Daishi had been down far too long already.

Off in the distance, the Corellian saw bright flashes of turbolaser fire.  It wasn't directly in his path, but still, something to consider, just in case.

See anything, Liquid's voice queried in his mind.

No major resistance so far.

Good, let's keep it that way.

As he got within a few hundred meters of the downed TIE, the trees started to thicken, and the Corellian could start tohear blaster fire.  It's funny how they managed to get here so quickly, JMac thought.  After all, there shouldn't be...stang!

Rising out of the trees just a little to his left was a Rebel Garrison, with large duracrete walls, and probably hundreds of troops.

Well, that explains it, he muttered, rapidly trying to come up with some kind of plan.

OK, now this was not a good thing. Darting away from the turbolaser turrets, Chippy realised that Shazam and he had made the extremely stupid mistake of flying over a Rebel barracks. "HOLY CRAP! Shazam, pull up now! We gotta get oughta here, NOW!" The battered TIE Interceptor yanked skyward as Chip scrambled out of the way. A face flashed before Chippy's eyes, and it actually took a moment for him to recognize that he was seeing his sweetheart back on Corellia. "Please God, just let me see her one more time..."
Chip managed to pull a U turn back to the treeline, out of site of the Rebel gunners. Shazam hadn't been so lucky. Flying straight over the base, he caught multiple shots on his solar panels and underside. Thank God Polaris squadron had been given the old TIE Advanced fighters from Aegis, as the small shields were the only thing that saved the young pilot's life.
"Dang it Shazam, don't fly straight! You're gonna get yourself killed! They don't teach you that stuff in the Academy just to hear themselves talk! Circle arround the base WIDE, out of view, and meet me on our original course. I want to continue that heading, I saw some burned up trees that way. Might be Daishi. You still have scanners? Mine are acting a little funky, I don't quite trust my electrical systems right now."
