Fallen was walking into the Lounge when he saw DarkHawk waving frantically at him. He grinned and joined his buddies over the counter. 'Hey guys! What's up these days? Oh yeah, hear of your promotion. Gratz Riel!' Fallen said. 'Yeah, thanks anyway. Grab a chair and sit down!' Fallen pulled a bar chair towards Riel and Darkhawk. ONce he sat down, Riel started speaking, 'Oh yeah, I need a good motto for my new squadron. It's so hard to think of mottos, but I want one that describes my visioned squadron perfectly.' Riel rambled. Fallen laughed. 'You've got yourself a job then. Well lemme see .... ' Fallen thought for a while and continued, 'How about ... sound lame though ..' Riel grinned.

Darkhawk stumbled out of Aegis's meeting room. Wow. Things had been really hectic tonight. He'd been called to an emergency meeting on the state of the Vast Empire's Navy. Piett and Riel had decided that, with the NHC inactive, the squadron commanders had to do something. With Admiral PJ's help they had been able to get the rosters updated and several things set straight. So ... Aegis Squadron was finally up and running. Darkhawk smiled to himself - he was now a LCRW and Flight Leader of Two Flight in Aegis. PJ, Piett, Riel, Tarkin, Kain, Sk8guy - and Darkhawk - all of them had been brave enough to step foward and issue a challenge to all of the VEN. Things were looking up. Things were HAPPENING. ... and things were going to change. All for the better. Darkhawk let out a long sigh as he entered his quarters. It had all been for the best. Now if they could only get the new recruits trained and active. But that's another story for another day.

The intercom on the Atrus pinged on.  "Hi, this is Riel Fury.  All members of Aegis get to the briefing room immediately, we have some matters to discuss."  In about five minutes the entire Aegis Squadron, minus the SC who sent the message, were sitting in the briefing room. The Squadron's droids were in the front of the room, turned off, and the little podium was empty.  Finally, after about five minutes, Riel walked through the doors of the briefing room.  "Hey everyone, it's about time you showed up.  I had to have sent the message ten minutes ago," he said with a grin.  A few isolated chuckles ran through the seven other members of the squadron.  Actually, no chuckles, it was a rather stupid joke.  Riel cleared his throat.  "Anyway, let's get down to business.  You've all been given your assignments, and so far you've done fairly well.  Keep it up.  Our Wing Commander has left, so a void is now in the Starfighter corps, but that'll be handled in time.  What I want to know, is what the heck are we gonna name these stupid droids..."

LoneWolf watched as sk8guy and darkhawk made their way out of the briefing room. LW thought about how long it had been scince hed flown too. he had only been in the VEN a month or so but he was happy there happier than he was being a mercinary. LW remembered when he meet Riel at a  customs station in the cafe that was there. LW was being chased my rebel policing forces for helping fuel a power struggle between the rebels and some pirate friends of his in a sector near the outer rim. the pirates turned on him and aloud the rebels to hunt him down for being a nonfriendly military target and consperecy of starting a internal conflict for the rebels. Riel offered LW a position and chance to turn around and fight the outnumbering rebels after him and work for a glory which LW liked. LW thought a little more about the droid names and if he could join the others who left for the hangar. LW raised his hand, Riel jumped on a opprotinity for droid names, "yes! LoneWolf, give me some names." "yeah" LW looked at the R6 then the 3PO bot, "I go it, name the R6 'Trashcan on wheels', and the 3Bot 'Flashlight'!" Riel looked at LoneWolf, "oh yeah can i join sk8guy and DarkHawk flying? Riel - I mean Sir!" Riel took a while, "ah, Go already! man! besides i dont want one of my newer pilots to get rusty so fast; and as for the rest of you." Riel turned to the others, "Names Think, Names not flying, give me some good names so we dont have to call these droids Trashcan, and Flashlight, then you you are free to go." LW was alrdy out the door by the time Riel finished his sentence. Kain walked towards the flight simulation room, as he entered the room the doors hissed open.  Now that he got transferred to the third flight group of Aegis squadron he now has to start practicing flying the TIE Bomber.  Kain jumped into the seat of the simulator and programmed it for basic training for a TIE Bomber. Three TIE Fighters flew in tight formation. Two of them were still bare, while the third still bore the marks of Kaph Squadron. That one had nine X's on it, represeting the pilot's kills. None of the Aegis TIEs had yet to been painted. Darkhawk made a mental note of that as he looked over at Lonewolf's fighter. As Darkhawk reached for his comm unit to hail the two Carracks, his cockpit warning light suddenly went off. Glancing to his radar, he noticed several new blips on the screen. And they didn't look friendly. "Aegis Squadron Fighters, this is the crusier Incarcerator. Unidentified fighters just appeared to our aft. Request that you check it out..." "I noticed that, Incarcerator," Darkhawk answered. "We're on our way. Two, Six, form up on me." "Yes sir," his two wingmen answered. "Atrus, we may need some assistance," Darkhawk radioed back to the super star destroyer looming in the background. "Understood," Riel called back from the bridge. "The rest of us will launch if there's trouble. I'll send TwinFury right now to go pull Kain out of the simulators." "We may not need the bombers," Lonewolf replied. "My sensors are showing two squadrons of Z-95s and three assault shuttles." "Better get everyone out there just in case," Riel said. "Headhunters against Imperial TIE Fighters?" Sk8guy questioned. "Do these guys have a death wish?" Darkhawk laughed. "Does it really matter if they want to die or not? Let's rock and roll, Aegis. Two, Six, take out the nearest Z-95s. I'm going to inspect those shuttles." "Roger that, Aegis Five," Lonewolf answered. The two TIEs on either side of Darkhawk's fighter lanced outwards towards the incoming fighters. As Darkhawk neared the shuttles, dodging laser blasts, he decided to attempt to make contact. "This is Petty Officer Darkhawk of the Vast Empire Navy. Why are you attacking our craft?" "This is Ramos Kalamed. We've been hired to take you guys out." "Well, you might want to try harder than this," Darkhawk replied. His initial scans of the shuttles showed that they were filled with Zero-G troopers. He turned his comm back to the Atrus. "Riel, you might want to get out here soon. We could have a situation on our hands soon." "Gotcha. We're on our way." "Incarcerator, those shuttles have Zero-Gravity troops on board. Be prepared for anything." "Roger that, Aegis Five. I'll put us on red alert." Darkhawk turned his attention back to his wingmen. So far the two pilots had managed to knock out seven of the Headhunters. These mercenaries must be green. Darkhawk decided to get in on the fun. Linking his lasers together, Darkhawk sent his TIE roaring into the middle of the second Z-95 formation. Eight bursts from his twin laser cannons eliminated three of the enemy snubfighters and sent several more diving for cover. Lonewolf swept in behind and picked off another. "Nice shooting," Lonewolf said. "You ain't doing too bad yourself," Darkhawk answered. He rolled his TIE starboard, bringing himself face to face with another Z-95. The other, inexperienced pilot, was startled by the sudden maneuver and didn't even have time to fire back before Darkhawk's lasers shredded his craft. "Aegis Five, those shuttles have begun to launch troops. Some of them appear to be armed with warhead launchers. They're heading our way..." came the voice of the Incarcerator's comm officer. "Understood. Try to give us some cover fire if you can, and we'll take them out." "We'll do our best." The three members of Aegis broke away from the Headhunters and dove towards the floating troops. The zero-G soldiers didn't stand a chance against TIE Fighters. Turbolasers and ions from the two Carracks guarded the pilots' backs as they picked off their small, floating targets. Riel's voice came on over the comnet. "Aegis One, Three, Four here. Three Flight is on hold. We're on our way, guys." As Riel was speaking, another ship dropped out of hyperspace. "Oh, crap!" Sk8guy shouted. A Liberator cruiser had just appeared right in the midst of the battle.

Kain Rennok smiled in the cockpit of his TIE Bomber. He and his fellow pilots HAD had their work cut out for them. Things didn't look too bad now, though. The Incarcerator slammed into the side of the Rebel Liberator cruiser, jetting huge flames out into the vastness of space. Rebel fighters and shuttles began to stream out of the crippled cruiser, trying to get away before it blew. "Nice thinking, Lonewolf," Riel said. "Three Flight, finish those assault shuttles. One and Two Flight will take the Rebels that flee down onto the planet. Additional forces are launching from the Atrus to mop up the leftover headhunters." "Understood, One. We're on it," Kain replied. He double-checked his weapons systems and then set his target for the closest assault shuttle. Gravin and Fallen flew in tight formation on either side of him. __________________________________________________________ "Sir, I've got a question..." Sk8guy said. "Go ahead, Six," Riel replied. "How are six TIE Fighters going to take out a marauder corvette and two corellian gunships?" "With style," Riel said. "Aw, geez," Darkhawk muttered. Sk8guy checked his radar screens. With that Liberator out of the picture, things weren't looking to bad. The second carrack cruiser was finishing off the crippled Rebel ship and Three Flight had begun its torpedo attack on the assault shuttles. The last zero-g trooper had been taken out by Darkhawk as the six Aegis TIE Fighters dove toward the surface of the planet Joiol. "What're are we going to do about the starfighters and escape craft from that cruiser, One?" Ypod called out. "We're too far away to be in any danger. Leave that up to the calvary." "Calvary?" TwinFury wondered. "You got that right," came an unfamiliar voice over Sk8guy's comm. Who the heck was that? "Nice to have you in the fight, Kaph Squadron," Darkhawk said, answering his question. "How's it going, Corran?" "Not too bad, Darkhawk, not too bad. We're proceeding to engage a squadron of X-Wings." "Don't take all the credit for yourself, junior," another voice interrupted. That was Tarkin. "The elite squadron is out here now, Aegis. You guys might as well turn around and come on home." "Funny, Tarkin," Ypod answered. "We'll handle these guys," Piett said. "You worry about that pirate's ships, Riel." "We're on it, don't worry." __________________________________________________________ Lieutenant Commander Bear watched the battle being raged outside the Atrus. Things were going very well for Wing 1 out there. Aegis had done a nice job at the start, and now Kaph and Viper were mopping up the rest of the Rebels. Losing the Incarcerator hurt, but at least the crew had made it off safely on that YT-2000. "Officer Rennok, your flight can head on home. Nice job with those assault shuttles," Bear said. "Sir, if you wouldn't mind, we'd like to join the dogfight." "In TIE Bombers?" Bear questioned. "Are you sure?" "Just watch," Fallen answered. The three bombers raced off towards a group of Y-Wings. __________________________________________________________ "Really, Lead, what's your plan? We're outgunned ten to one here," Darkhawk asked. The six TIE Fighters were right on top of the pirate's small capital ships now. "Before we left the hangar, I had the techs hook on a couple of space bombs to One Flight's fighters," Riel answered. "If you, Two, and Six would give us some cover, this can be pretty easy." "Nice thinking," Darkhawk replied. "Two, on One. Six, watch Four. I'll escort Three." "Gotcha," Lonewolf said. Darkhawk drifted over to TwinFury's side as they headed toward the Marauder Corvette. Dodging turbolaser blasts, they zig-zagged their way in close to the hull. TwinFury released both of his bombs at the same time. As close as they were, the pirate gunners had no chance to react. The two warheads slammed into the corvette's shields, completely knocking them out. The hull took some slight damage too. Darkhawk took some pot shots as they pulled out of their bombing run, and managed to take out three guns and the ship's sensor array. "Nice job, guys," Riel said. "Let's from up, and head in for the kills. We'll pick them off one by one now that they're weak." Darkhawk smiled as the six starfighters formed up in a V formation. This kind of stuff was always so much fun.

"This is Petty Officer Kain Rennok from flight 3 of Aegis.  Requesting the deployment CUV Omicron for warhead reloading." "Request granted, deploying CUV Omicron." "CUV Omicron this is Kain Rennok, we want you guys to stay at least 5 km behind us, we'll be engaging the Y-Wings first then you guys can reload us.  You got that?" "Roger that." "Fallen get on my right wing and Gravin get on my left wing.  Stay in a close formation.  Fallen I want you to break left and Gravin you break right when we get close enough to them.  OK guys lets rock!" "Roger that, Kain.", Fallen Said. "Aight, lets kick some ass!", Gravin shouted over the com. Gravin and Fallen fly in a tight formation with Kain.  They were only 2 km from the Y-Wings. "Break now!" While Fallen and Gravin broke off in opposite directions Kain fired at the incoming Y-Wings while doing barrel rolls.  Two of the Y-Wings were shot and destroyed, the rest of the Y-Wings despersed.  Fallen and Gravin picked off the Y-Wings as they were breaking off the main flight.  Kain came around back and shot the remaining Y-Wings from behind. Riel was right on an light transport's tail.  His sights went read and he squeezed on the trigger.  His TIE blazed through the super-heated rubble of the now extinct light transport.  "Now this is what being a fighter pilot is all about.  Bear, you don't know what you're missing out here!" "Just do your job, Riel.  Brag when you're finished," the answer came back.  Riel grinned and went back to work.  All of a sudden, alarms sounded throughout the cockpit.  "DAMN, got a missle lock.  Going evasive.  Lonewolf, get it off my back if you can!" He knew Lonewolf wouldn't be able to do anything, so he quickly belayed that order.  "Never mind that, go after that... Corvette!!!"  Riel changed his course and drained the power from his lasers to his engines.  "Lonewolf, keep all the fighters off my back, that missle is closing in, so I need speed."  Riel flew directly toward the Corvette. "Enough chatting, Lusthawk Six,"  Riel said over the com.  "You know what would happen if you get killed.  Nice to see you here, Viper and Kaph.  Now let's finish these schmucks up."  The rest of the battle was almost a breeze.  The TIE's then landed in the bay of the Atrus.  "Nice flying guys," Riel said to the pilots.  He walked over to Piett and Malik, who were standing to the side arguing over some new recruit, probably.  Which was funny, since all the recruits always seem to seek Riel out and get placed in Aegis.  "I'd like to thank both of you.  We could've done it without you, but it would have taken a few minutes longer," he said with a grin. Piett grinned back.  "You're welcome, Riel." Malik said the same and then stalked off to the bar. "Okay Aegis Pilots, to the briefing room,"  Riel said. ______________ Riel walked up to the brandnew Mixmaster droid.  "Well, say hello to the newest, and in my opinion, second most important member of Aegis after me." <>Mrrr said. "He says that that is very rude," 42 said.  Then Mrrr rolled up to the Mixmaster and shocked it.  42 then proceeded to slap the droid.  "Really Mrrr, that's rude." Riel just rolled his eyes.  "Where's Talon, I need him to reprogram these schmucks."

The droids were running around zapping, slapping each other silly.  Riel let them run wildly and he continued his speech. Riel started off saying, "Probably non of you have heard it yet, I have been promoted to Wing Commander." Everybody applauded to their new wing commander. "Lets throw a partay for Riel!" Ypod yelled out. Kain said, "I'll make the drinks!" Everybody was yelling in the room, then Riel shouted out, "Hold on everybody, we're not having a partay, even though I wouldn't mind having one .  But we got business to discuss..." Before Riel couldn't finish his sentence, everybody attentions was directed towards the droids. Sk8guy, decided to hit the sims. He was a bit rusty in his rebel starfighters, and could use the pratice as a refresher course.As He made his way to the sims, Lonewolf joined him and said, "You hitting the sims?" "Yeah. I figured I could use some pratice at the sluggish rebel ships." "Mind if I join you?" "No problem with me." Both pilots entered the sims and headed toward the old and barely used Rebel sims. Other pilots in the room stared as they made their way over to them, but what did they know. They had no clue why they were going to the Rebel sims. The first ship they flow was the typical Rebel starfighter the X-Wing. They reasoned that was the craft they would mostly likely be flying. After a couple flights, sk8guy decided to get some sleep. "You gonna be in here again?" asked Lonewolf. "Probably hit them one more time before we fly and once we know what ship we'll be flying." "Well call me up next time, I'll be your wing, unless you get Darkhawk to join you." "I'll think about it. Later man, and don't stay here too long, you might get beat by the other squads, if they see you in here awhile." he said as he looked around at the other pilots staring in their direction. "Alright later sk8." Sk8guy made his way toward his quarters and thought about the upcoming mission. He was going to love to see the look in those scums eyes when they see the surprise they had in store for they. Oh yeah, it was going to be fun.He was beaming now, and doubted he could sleep, but he knew he needed it.Finally he reached his quarters, and prepared for a long night.

Kalebb walked into the lounge and sat down next to Zed and Riel. He took two drinks from one of the serving droids walking by and handed one to Riel while taking the other one for himself. "How's it going, commander? Thanks for getting me placed so quickly," he said. "Well, Kalebb, it's nice to have you with Aegis," Riel replied. "Have you seen your brother lately?" "Yeah, Gravin's holed up in his room working on some project." "Okay then, Just wanted to make sure he was still alive." The three men carried on a conversation for a while, topics ranging from ball games to weapons training to marijuana. Suddenly, Kalebb stood up out of his chair and threw his glass to the ground. "I don't appreciate that tone of voice, Riel," he growled. "Whatcha gonna do about it?" Fury asked. "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry..." Kalebb started. "You - want - to - fight . . . . me?" Riel questioned. Answering him, Kalebb punched Riel square in the jaw. Zed leaped up from the table, yelling. "Hey, Kain! We got a fight here!!!"

LoneWolf woke up the next morning onboard the Artrus in his new replosorlift chair he went to his door and looked down when he opened it to see an orange uniform/flightsuit, and a rebel helmet lying there. He picke dit up and took it inside ignoring it as he went to the refresher to change into his Imperial flight suit. In a few minutes LW was out of his room in is fairly new imperial flight suit While carring his rebel uniform heading to the hanger bay. he meet Sk8guy on the way, "Hey Sk8guy whatz up?" Sk8 replied obviously ready and excited about the mission, "Great can't wait to trick those rebel scum today!" "Yeah, its going go bye a little fast though right after were done with the capture part of the mission were going straigt in to engage the rebels. then the espianoge." "Oh well" Sk8guy replied, "It's the few things in life the you got to enjoy!" Just as he finished his statment the 2 pilots finally entered the briefing room for final details. A few minutes after all the pilots entered the room Riel started his briefing with all of teh squadrons there. "ok ill make it simple and as fast as i can" Riel started, "Ok all of the navy will depart from the artrus escorting the modified research vessel Observer, the strike cruiser Stinger, and the escort carrier Gardian. Aegis will be assigned to Observer; Kaph, and Viper will be assigned to Gardian. After we dock on these ships and enter hyperspace to rondevue with the rebel shipment, It'll be up to all of the bombers, and guns to disable the Carrier. The rest of the fighters will protect the bomber from any fighter interference. once the carrier is disabled well force them to dump the fighters once they do that itll be up to the Observer and her tug boats to pick up the fighters and prep them for Aegis's final mission for the day. Which ill go into greater detail with later. Do all of you understand this? once were done with the capture Kaph, And Viper will need to return to the Artrus imidiatly so its not completly defenseless. If there are any Questiosn ask them now if not then goto your fighters and the best of luck to you all." All of the pilots went to the hanger bays and preped their fighters up. The next morning, as Aegis Squadron prepared for its mission, Wing 1 was called to the War Room for an emergency meeting. Darkhawk and Sk8guy entered the room together and took their proper seats. Looking around the room, they noticed some people missing. "Where's Sythspawn?" Sk8guy asked. PJ stepped foward with a solemn look on his face. "Sythspawn has resigned from his position. I am now in charge of the Navy." Several of the pilots in the room gasped. Bear, Riel, Piett, and Malik were all setting up at the head of the round table with PJ. Riel rose from his seat to speak. "But this is the least of our worries at the moments, pilots," he began. "I'm afraid all missions any squadron was planning are postponed ... indefinitely. The Dark Jedi returned today, early." PJ nodded. "They bring word of a new threat, near Ord Mantell." As Riel finished speaking, a map of Ord Mantell and the surrounding systems appeared on the holoscreen. By now the last of the Aegis and Viper pilots had made their way into the room and taken their places. Several icons began to appear on the holoscreen, indicating the estimated forces massed there. "Thank you Wing Commander, I'll take over from here," PJ said. Riel saluted and took his chair. "We are planning a direct and deliberate assault on these forces before they can grow anymore and destroy us. The Navy will be assisting the Army in any way possible. And our Dark Jedi will be fighting right along side us in this one." By now all of the pilots could not believe their ears. They had no idea an attack like this had been planned against the VE ... or that they were about to be faced with so great a challenege. Piett glanced over at PJ and rose from his seat. "Viper will be leading the way, but we need everyone for this mission - and I mean EVERYONE. No one will be left out in this one. This is a mission to protect everything we fight for - a mission to defend the Vast Empire itself, in all its glory." The war room erupted into applause. PJ waved his hand to quiet the now-eager pilots. "We will split up into our four separate briefing rooms for further briefing. Kaph first, then Aegis, then Viper ... Raptor Squadron will remain here. Any questions?" No one said anything. "Then you are all dismissed. Good luck!" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Rebel leaders cursed and cursed. The Vast Empire hadn't shown up yet. Had they been alerted to the trap that was waiting for them? Oh well ... there would be more chances down the road to strike at the Empire. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- As Darkhawk and Sk8guy walked down the Atrus's corridors toward their briefing room, Darkhawk's hand continued to seem to want to drift to his right side. He let out a long sigh, suddenly feeling weak. "You okay man?" Sk8guy asked, laying a hand on his wingman's shoulder. "Yeah," Darkhawk replied, running his fingers through his hair and shaking his head back and forth a couple of times. "I just have a real bad feeling about this..." Kain came jogging up beside them as Darkhawk was speaking. "It'll be okay, Darkhawk. Let's hurry up and get to the meeting. This might just be fun," he said, laughing. All three men broke out into a brisk trot toward their planning room, where Riel would be waiting with their orders.
