Liquid climbed out of his simulator, as the rest of Aegis was doing the same. It was time for a good night's sleep, and maybe even some pool with JMac. He headed for the lounge, hoping to catch his friend, but JMac wasn't at his usual spot at the bar, nor anywhere in the lounge. Liquid ran back to his bunk, expecting JMac to be there, using the refresher or something. All he found was a message on his datapad, Liquid pushed the button and opened the message. "Liquid, it was great having you as a bunk-mate, and even better as a friend, I'm off to the Naval High Council position now, I'll see you next time I stop by the lounge...or not...but, I'll never forget what you've taught me about computers, or flying, even though I always beat you in that department. Cya! JMac" Liquid put his datapad down, remembering the good times with JMac from previous missions and such. Liquid smiled as he saw the adult diaper that was laying on JMac's former bunk. He remembered JMac going around the lounge in it saying "Oh what a pretty girl I am." "Oh Well," thought Liquid, "He's now with higher command, he might be back later, but he'll never be forgotten in Aegis." Liquid let out a sigh after that thought. He knew he'd have to find a new bunkmate. Liquid went out in search of the newest member of Aegis, Rusty, and found him sitting in the lounge. He was sitting down to a glass of his favorite drink, Correllian Whiskey. "This guy's gonna be perfect for my bunk, he likes my favorite drink!" Liquid thought, sitting down next to Rusty. "You got a bunk yet?" Liquid asked, ordering a Correllian Whiskey for himself. "Not quite yet," Rusty replied, downing the tall glass in a gulp. "You wanna be in mine?" Liquid asked, hoping that Rusty would join him. "Sure, let me grab my stuff," Rusty said, picking up his bags. "I'll show you the way," Liquid said, downing his whiskey and jogging to keep up with the large ewok. =========================================== Back in the sims =========================================== Liquid pulled his helmet on after a good night's rest. It was time for the next mission, he brought up the outline on his datapad. =========================================== You are to be flying in your standard T/A in this mission. You will be escorting an Imperial Corvette, the Runner to Lopen to pick up supplies, then you will be escorting it to Bluepoint 5. You will meet 2 squadrons of X-wings, and 1 squadron of A-wings, expect these pilots to be very difficult to kill. =========================================== Liquid gritted his teeth, for the past 2 days, he had been flying different craft, and now, he was finally gonna be back in his nice, familiar Tie Advanced. He jumped into the simulator and started up the mission. He commed into Sk8, and waited for instruction. "Ok, everyone, you are to form into flights, flight one, you will be flying point for the Runner, flight 2, you shall be flying on the port side of the Runner, and flight 3, you'll be flying on the starboard side. Got it?" Sk8 asked, expecting nothing but the best from his Elite squadron. "Yes sir," Lonewolf commed in, informing his Flight members of their positions. "Yes sir," Liquid commed in, also telling his Flight members of their positions. Aegis formed up and flew to their positions, ready for anything that the simulator decided to throw at them.   ----------------------- ADJ:NTO/IA/EFL/WO1 Liquid/Aegis 3-1 (Aegis Nine)/Phoenix Wing/mSSD Atrus/DEF/VEN/VE/(=A=)(=SA=) TRN/JRN Liquid/TBA/TBA/VEDJ/(VP) I am the TO's Adjutant, and the FS's instructor's assistant. Aegis five slipped out of the Atrus the sleek, and agile fighter began to form on the arriving ship, the Runner. Flight two took up the left side as planed out before. "OK boys be ready for anything its expected we’ll run into a few fighter squads along the way." The Tie Advanced squadron began to download hyperspace coordinates, and in a few seconds they were all pulling levers. Normally the flight to lopen from their location would take a couple of hours or more. However with the sims, they would arrive at the planet in a few clicks.  "OK Aegis lets break formation, and make planetary patrol," LoneWolf barked. Each flight broke up into a different orbit, flight two moved directly over the poles. Things seemed quiet until a group of X-Wings emerged from hyperspace. "There’s our first group!" Liquid shouted, LoneWolf worked the comm, "Runner this is Aegis 5! Stay docked on the planet and begin to calculate an escape route to the first rondevou! Give us a few minutes to take the opposition out!" "Roger Aegis 5 Runner will remained docked until further instructed, good hunting! Get some for our crew!" LoneWolf checked his radar, "Aegis form up! keep ‘em away from the planet and the Runner at All cost!" a series of chatter replied all agreeing to the orders, as Aegis began to assault the enemy.

Falling into position with the rest of his flight, PJ checked his systems one more time as they moved in to engage the nearest enemy starfighters. "Flight 2, this is Five...engage the nearest fighter and let 'em have it." Lonewolf ordered over the comm. "Copy that," came the responces from his squadron. Targeting the X-Wing on the left of the rebel formation, PJ cranked up his shields and lasers..letting it come to him. Linking his fire, the sensors showed it at 2.5 kliks and closing fast. "Five, this is Eight...enemy in range." Breaking off from the rest of his flight with a quick drop and roll, PJ sat ready as his target slipped in and out of his sights. Shifting his vector to get it back, he pulled up and linked his lasers. PJ quickly rolled to avoid colliding with his target as it zipped past underneath him. As the X-Wing continued to fly in a straight line, PJ cut his throttle to 1/3 and banked, putting him in hot pursuit of the rebel starfighter. Readjusting his shields, he began to slowly cut the distance between them. As he closed in PJ tried hard to keep the rocking fighter in his sights and every now and then got a hit on the X-Wing only to see them disperse in it's shield. Suddenly, PJ's TIE shook as he noticed he had picked up another fighter somewhere along the way. "Need some help with over here," he called...hoping some would be free enough to aid him.

Kain juked to the right to avoid another X-Wing as it flew by. He looked down at his targeting computer and located his target. Pulling up on the joystick the TIE Advanced made a tight u-turn. Now the target was in his sight, he lined the X-Wing up with the targeting cursor and fired bursts of green lasers. The X-Wing juked and rolled, trying to avoid the laser blasts. Kain was able to reduce the X-Wing's shields down to 45%, then he felt his fighter rock. Somebody was on his tail, it was two X-Wings. "Damn it, we're outnumbered." Kain muttered under his breath. "Hey Rusty can you get these guys off my tail?" "Sorry Kain, I'm busy fending off a X-wing that on my tail." Rusty replied. "Hey Kain, we're all outnumbered by two to one, and the A-Wings haven't even showed up yet. Shit even I'm tied up with these X-Wings on my tail. We gotta think up of a plan to get these punks off our asses." Lonewolf said over the comlink. Another red laser bolt slammed into Kain's TIE A/D. "Well we better think up something quick cause my shields are dropping below 50%." Kain juked to the left trying to avoid the red laser bolts coming from the X-Wings behind him. "Damn these guys are good, I can't even shake 'em off for a second." Kain rolled his TIE A/D downward to avoid another salvo of blasts. Lonewolf reached out with the Force trying to find a strategy to compensate the situation that they are in. He felt something coming to him, using the Force he stretched out farther, then it hit him. "Hold on Kain, I've just got an idea. Aegis listen up, this might sound crazy but its the only option we got..."

Rusty was the last to enter his sim. He pulled the harness over his head, and it felt cold on his bushy fur. He was glad that they had not failed on the last mission when they had their second crack at it. He felt a little drunk though…too much damned Corellian Whiskey. He formed up with the rest of the group. Soon a swarm of X-Wings flew into the scene. He already had one on his tail, being drunk helped him, he tried more crazy maneuvers to shake these people. He didn’t really care what happened, all that alcohol was making it feel easy and care-free. So he pulled a few stunts, and lost one of them. He hit the brakes and left the other hurtling into space. Rusty got on his tail, and let a few blasts escape. He couldn’t seem to hit his target, but at least he was keeping one of them occupied. He held the trigger and just let the blasts fly. He wasn’t too worried about accuracy, c’mon he’s drunk…So he just let the green rain fly. Finally he started hitting the ship. He was slowly lowering the rebel bastard’s shields. He heard constant complaints of being out numbered and such over the com. Rusty drunkingly replied “meh, just do your damn job.” And he resumed to lowering the X-Wing’s shields.

Liquid grinned evilly as he watched the X-wing that was tailing him get bold enough to increase his speed past that of Liquid's ship. Liquid pulled back on his throttle to 1/3, and watched X-wing fly over him. He lighted him up with a stream of green laser, and watched the pilot's ship blow up in a fiery ball of metal and debri. Liquid pulled back on his controls, avoiding the mass that was in front of him. Liquid pushed this way and that on his controls, avoiding the second X-wing that had his ship targeted. He pulled up suddenly, released a flare, and reduced his speed down to 1/3, pulling a strong bank in the oposite direction of the X-wing, Liquid hadn't noticed he was going the wrong way until he noticed the enemy pilot back on his tail again, slowly eating away his shields with his innacurate laser fire. Liquid pushed forward on the throttle this time, completely stalling the engines and performing a somersault in mid-flight, completely confusing the computer, and giving Liquid the edge, Liquid opened up with some more of the green lasers, and quickly exterminated the rebel ugly with quad laser fire. He then flew off in Rusty's direction to help the newer member out.

PJ tried to keep on target with the X-Wing in font of them, while being careful to avoid the attacks coming behind him. A third X-Wing had joined the party and PJ was beginning to feel a little too popular. Juking, weaving and rolling away from the enemy fire as the X-Wings advanced. The distance between them decreased to .25 of a klik. Taking one last shot at his target, rolled and cut his throttle. The two rebel pilots shot past...one of which right into PJ's sights. Two quad laser blast later it was on the verge of being disabled as more and more of it's systems malfunctioned. Scanning his radar for the other two combatants, the Aegis pilot found that both had turned and were now flying in formation towards him. Once again PJ was dodging red laser fire as they closed in on him. Bobbing and weaving, he targeted the fighter he had previously been chasing. It’s shields were slowly recharging as it advanced, but one good shot by the T/A and they would be out again if not worse. Opening fire on the damaged X-Wing, it quickly exploded into a ball of fire. Meanwhile, the second X-Wing had closed a ton of ground, weaving once more PJ’s cockpit shook from a slight impact. Being much quicker to recover and turn around he was soon in pursuit of the rebel pilot, though it was far more skilled than the other two he had faced. No matter what he did the X-Wing was able to stay out of his laser’s sights. Switching to his warheads, PJ slowly found a lock on the rebel and launched. As he had guessed, it attempted to roll out of the way of the incoming explosive. Unfortunately for it, it’s roll put him directly into PJ’s sights and he opened fire. As the warhead clipped the wing of the X-Wing, PJ put one more quad shot into it’s engines causing it to explode.

Liquid pulled hard, lining up with the fighters that were on Rusty's tail, he picked one of them, and decided to have a little fun before he started to kill him. "Time for some Aegis dancing lessons!" Liquid shouted, flying in front of the craft and distracting him enough to make him follow him. Liquid pulled this way and that, making sure the rebel pilot couldn't get a lock, but giving him the faint hope of achieving one. Liquid pulled back on his controls and went into an unexpectedly tight loop, almost ramming his ship into the top of the X-wing. Luckily, Liquid had fact reactions and was able to reduce throttle and pull the controls to the left, narrowly avoiding the rebel scum. "Feej! That was close," Liquid shouted to no one inparticular. "Liquid, I could use a little help here!!!" Rusty shouted, having trouble with his new found friend. "I'm kinda busy, gimme a minute," Liquid said, letting off 2 advanced missles and targeting another one of the tails Rusty had acquired. Liquid pushed forward on his throttle, transferred some energy from his shields to his engines, and flew past the X-wing, pulling it off of Rusty's tail, and letting his shields take a break. Just as the X-wing started to follow him, Liquid reduced throttle to 1/3, put the needed energy back in his shields, and started wailing away with quad linked laser fury. It wasn't long before the X-wing's shields were nearing 0%, but out of nowhere, another X-wing locked onto Liquid's tail, and started eating away at his now fully-recharged shields. Liquid just smiled as he loved getting a 2-for-1 special, and let go a flare into the path of the unsuspecting rebel. The rebel dodged it, and Liquid had no idea how to shake this one while still being able to get the other one before it got him....

Turning his TIE towards the now fully crippled X-Wing, PJ put two shots into it's hull...watching it break apart. As he flew through the debris he looked at his radar, scanning for another target. The numbers were once again beginning to even out. So far, nine of the X-Wings had been destroyed and at the moment, Aegis squadron had yet to suffer a casuality. Having no fighters on himself just meant that somewhere his fellow pilots were being outnumbered two, three and even four to one. Seeing Rusty and Liquid trying to handle six fighters, PJ sped off into their direction. Being a few kliks away, he took the time to check out how the others were faring...most of them seemed to be doing well holding their own against the increased rebel force. One of the newer additions to the squadron...Rusty...seemed to be swerving a little, and not on purpose. Perhaps he did not yet understand just what this job required. To make matters worse he was trying to take four fighters at once and PJ watched the newer pilot's shields slowly diminish...he just hoped he could get there before it was too late. By now, PJ had advanced to within firing range of Rusty and his pursuers. Careful not to accidently hit his squadronmate's already heavily damaged craft he continued to move in on his chosen target...flying headlong towards Rusty...at the last minute PJ rolled and shot a pair of missiles at one of the pursuers watching it veer off course and took the shots in the side...breaking apart before his eyes...one down and three to go.

LoneWolf dodged another line of fire, he was still trying to think of a tactic to use against them however he was too occupied to heavily consider the results of each one. "At least more than half these fighters are gone." With that being said he slowly dismissed the idea for a tactic he had just calculated, "Lets hurry up and fry the rest of these rebels! I’m calling the Runner back up here!" as his words became orders another two X-Wings were destroyed, "Runner this is Aegis five we cleared a flight path for you, look out for a few bogies on your way out though." "Affirmative Aegis five! We’ll be on our way out in a few clicks." The last fighter was put to flames as the Runner returned to space, once again Aegis took up formation on the Corellian Block Runner. It took a few minutes for the hyperspace coordinates once again, this time they would arrive at blue point five, and most likely be attacked at there. "Be on your toes boys, you never know what this sim can throw at you." once again they entered the famous blue tunnel, "So far so good" all the shields recharged a bit and LoneWolf could only hope the Runner could give good fire support.

As the mottled blue view of hyperspace turned into white streaks and those in turn becoming still dots in space, Aegis Squadron arrived and the Correllian Blockade Runner arrived at Bluepoint 5. "Sir, I can see no sign of the platform on my scanners." PJ commented over the comm. "Copy that Eight....I don't see anything either." Suddenly 24 more dots blinked onto their scanners. From 5 kliks away, two full squadrons of A-Wings advanced. "This could be trouble...All pilots break up into flights...Flight 1 engage the first squadron...Two take the second...Three, engage anything that gets to close to the Runner." A series of acknowledgements filled the comm. This was going to be difficult...already several of Aegis Squadron had suffered damage to their systems and some's shields had not even finished restoring themselves. Moving to engage the nearest fighter from his designated squadron, PJ raised his shields and linked his lasers. This was going to become very crazy, very soon. As the A-Wings advanced close to firing range, Aegis Squadron broke off towards their respective targets. 2.5,...2...1.5...red laser blasts erupted from the enemy fighters...attempting to dodge one, many Aegis pilots were met with another lowering their shields slightly. "FIRE!" LoneWolf ordered over the comm. Pretty soon, red and green flashes were everywhere PJ looked. Boobing and weaving, he attempted to avoid fire...but to no avail as some hit their target. The Runner had already taken some damage and was the situation was only getting worse.

Flight three was going crazy, swirving, rolling, and dodging shots.  They had to protect the Runner from get shot at.  But too many fighters were keeping them busy from doing that. "Shit this tough... I hate being outnumbered. Damn it my shields are failing me!  I need some help here!" Kain yelled over the comlink The responses he received were all the same, they were busy trying to get the A-Wings off their tails. Kain tried manuevering his way around the A-Wings but these pilots were seasoned veterans. It was going to hard to shake them off. Kain's TIE A/D took another hit from the A-Wings, his shields were down to 12%. Damn I'm not going to make. Kain thought to himself. As a last ditch attempt Kain fired all his flares out to spin the fighters out of control. Then he pulled up hard and cut his throttle out, making a sharp arc and ending up behind his pursuers.  Kain locked onto one of the A-Wings and fired relentlessly at it with his laser cannons. The A-Wing still trying to recover his spin was unable to dodge any of the shots and blew up by Kains lasers blasts.  Kain locked onto the other A-Wing, it had just recovered from its spin but it was still disoriented, so Kain still had the uphand.  He fired at the A-Wing until is was completely destroyed. "Yes I got'em...what the? I got another fighter on my tail! Shi....." Kain's voice was cut short as the A-Wing destroyed the TIE A/D. "Damn it...ah screw it, I need a drink." Kain said as he got out of the simulator and headed towards the lounge

LoneWolf took out the fighter that had shot Kain down. His shields were already fried, by now a sight he was already used to. Seeing twenty plus enemy fighters though wasn’t an normal sight, once before was the only time Aegis had been outnumber four-to-one. "That wasn’t easy  either, and we had Tie Defenders!" he realized he picked up his share of fighters on his tail. "Bring it on you Schmucks!" driving into a dive the G’s pulled desperately on his body, "I can handle it can you!" a couple of the A’s broke off into an uncontrolled spin, and LoneWolf helped them by firing a flare, or two. Adrenaline pumped through him, and so did the crimson bolts. He kept on moving the dive into different directions to get them dizzy. He then pulled into an even more insane pull up, he quickly sent a couple of torps seeing the glory of splash damage sending a fighter into debris, and others into his same shieldless condition. He realized he picked up Kain’s reaming share, and a few others who weren’t supposed to be on him. They swarmed him, relentlessly driving the hull down. Alarms broke off and the sim shut off, "Shit! You-" he refrained from saying any more harsh words then went quickly to get a shot of Corellin Ale.

‘Good thing I didn't use all my warheads back when we fought the X-Wings,' PJ thought to himself now going head on with two more A-Wings. As the enemy neared, PJ began to open fire on the one A-Wing...knocking out it's shields and heavily damaging it, though in the process saw his shields become all but eaten away. Just as the three fighters were about to converge and pass eachother, PJ swerved...changed to his warheads and fired a pair of missiles into the "less damaged" A-Wing's cockpit, watching it split apart before his eyes. "Woo, another kill," PJ cheered over the comm...though it seemed to fall on a lot fewer ears than he'd hoped. Aegis Squadron had done well in taking out over half of the enemy A-Wings, but in doing so had lost several pilots themselves...including LoneWolf and Kain. Half of his flightmates were now gone and the numbers were once again favouring the agile fighters of the rebels. Turning back to engage the second A-Wing and found it had long since turned and faced him. Opening fire on it, he realized he was too late. Laser fire penetrated his shields and as his cockpit rocked he was soon back in complete darkness. Pulling off his helmet, PJ called up the mission logs and took a few minutes to review them before emerging from his sim. “You too, eh?”

Rusty was a bit intimidated by the two squads of A-Wings that had arrived. He had done a fairly good job at keeping his shield percentage up, and the drunkeness was wearing off. He still had the three X’s on his tail, but he didn’t care as long as he took two of them down with him, if those measures were needed. Rusty just locked onto an A-Wing that thought he was home free and took a shot at the Runner. Pissing off a half drunken wookie wasn’t too smart. Rusty blew his A-Wing hull to pieces. Rusty figured that he could try a few maneuvers to shake these X’s. He cut his throttle and did a sharp U turn to find himself behind the X-Wings. Rusty fired away at the unsuspecting rebel scum, taking out two of them with ease. The other one was a bit of trouble as Rusty followed him. But the inevitable happened, Rusty locked on and sat back to watch the fire works. Rusty decided to seek out some more A-Wings to see if any more thought that they could take a shot at Ol’ Runner. Rusty saw a pair of them take a run at the ship. Rusty blasted one, but that alerted the other to his presence. Rusty was on another chase. Soon he picked up an X on his tail. But Rusty was confident that he would get help or he would take the bastard out himself. He fired his cannons, missing the A-Wing. Liquid came out of nowhere and took the X-Wing out from the side, and flew up beside the A-Wing to knock the rebel out. The couldn’t seem to get any shots in. Liquid: “Rusty, this dude’s a veteran, we may be chasin’ him for a while!” Rusty: “I know, but we have the upper hand with two TIE Advanced fighters, he’s got his little A-Wing. I’m not afraid of an A-Wing, rookie OR veteran.” The two chased the A-Wing as it bobbed and wove through the green fire. This is gonna be a tough mission… Rusty thought to himself as he let his cannon fire. Finally he got a shot in, but it wasn’t enough to take the ace pilot of the A-Wing out of the picture. Liquid and Rusty were in for a good chase…

LoneWolf took a sip from the cup of coffee he had, molded to his hands. The warm steam loosened the mucus in his nose, letting him breathe freely. He saw everyone else struggle with the mission, and slowly realized that the mission was about to become a failure. He took another sip, to ease his thoughts, hoping they would be washed away. with each drink he let the force slip in too for an insight, memories flashed back to his past, where pirates, and fallen Jedi Knights still lay. "I think I have an idea to take out the first wave at Lopen." He stated flatly to himself more than anyone else in the room. Kain came up and asked almost scaring LW, "How do you suggest that?" LoneWolf took another sip still staring at the screen witch showed the mission, "An atmosphere burn. If we set an ambush we can burn their shields on a intense drop down, before then we would of slipped a group of our boys down on the planet to intercept, once they arrive out. We’d lure ‘em in with the rest of Aegis, leading them into the atmosphere on an intense drop." "What if they go on a more shallow drop?" then we ditch ‘em behind and have the Runner pull out before they can get back out. We’d have the trap group fly out and escort her out then have the decoys pull up and fallow behind." Kain mused at the idea, "Not bad. We’ll just see if we all use it the next time around. Shouldn’t we pull ‘em out?" Kain said pointing at the screen. LoneWolf calmly replied, "nah let ‘em get the practice worse things that could happen is them getting us more points, however I don’t wanna stay here forever." LW realized he finished his cup then moved to get a refill.

Rusty wasn’t too afraid that they would fail this mission, he had heard Liquid being unsure. But confidence is the key to success in missions where your squad is dwindling. I mean they still had Dark Hawk somewhere around here…Rusty and Liquid fired simultaneously to shoot down the Vet A-Wing. Rustichituk caught up with the last two X-Wings, Dark Hawk flew up and got one tailing him, making easy pickin’s for Rusty. Rusty ate away at the X’s shields and Dark Hawk finished him off with a flare. They ganged up on the last X-Wing to finish off that squad. Dark Hawk and Rusty caught up with Liquid who was in a bit of trouble, he had 3 A-Wings on his tail. DH and Rusty took out one each, which alerted the last. He took a few erratic movements, but they shot him down. The three TIE star fighters stayed together. Rusty finally faced the fact that they weren’t going to complete this mission, but he figured that if this was gonna give him practice, that he mind as well stay in. They took a run at a pair of A-Wings that didn’t know they were there and took them out. But they started being pursued by a gang of A-Wings. Rusty knew that his shield was at 5%, and he wasn’t going down without taking at least one of those A-Wings with him. So he cut his engine and took out two of the A-Wings as his ship careened into the rebel scum. Rusty’s sim shut down and he went to discuss the mission with the other downed Aegis members…

Rogue lay in his bunk in his room. Since he had joined Aegis as a transfer in, he had gotten a single occupancy room. The rest of the squadron was supposed to be in the simulators still or they should be. He was in his bunk due to, first off, colliding with an A-wing, and second due to almost passing out after climbing out the simulator. So he had been rushed to the med bay by the officers monitoring the simulations and checked over by a 21-B. The report said he was suffering from dehydration and exhaustion. So he was sent to his quarters to rest after being injected with fluids.  He hadn’t gotten very much sleep though, despite being in his quarters for over 8 hours. Every time he tried to sleep, he always ended up dreaming about that stupid A-wing mark III that he collided with. He knew it was a mark 3 A-wing because it had rotated its lasers to fire rearward and Rogue had flown one with a unit called the Black Lightnings, a special operations NR fighter squadron, right before he left the NR. He kept trying to kill it, but it kept on rotating its lasers to burn down his forward shields enough to make him break off. So he dumped almost all his laser power to his engines, only saving enough for to fire exactly four linked quad shots.  He closed in very close as fast as he could get the T/a he was in to go and fired. He had found a way to defeat the rotating lasers because the shots got through and the A-wing exploded into shrapnel. Rogue turned hard to avoid the fragments but he forgot about the A-wing’s wingman. Rogue’s T/A got speared broadside by the oncoming A-wing. Both disappeared in a good sized explosion. And all this had taken place before any of the others from his squadron had been killed. As for the exhaustion, he swore when he “died” and climbed out of the simulator. He got his helmet off after getting out without a problem. He threw it back into the simulator cockpit and started to leave the sim room when he suddenly stopped and leaned against a bulkhead. Next thing that he knew, he was in the med bay, getting looked over by 21-B. And now he was supposed to be sleeping but so much for that.

I sat down in the Aegis lounge, looking out at the downed members of my squadron. Apparently this mission wasn't an easy one. So far it looked bad. I sipped at my coffee, which was cold now. As the nasty liquid squeezed down my throat, I grimaced and decided it was time to get a new cup. I went over to the coffee put and started to brew a fresh pot. I turned around and watched as the group of pilots around stared at the ground, dissappointed and full of dispare. I cleared my throat and said, "So how was it?" Lonewolf stared at me and said, "It wasn't too bad, we just didn't expect those types of numbers. I mean if we would have known from the start what we were up against, it would have went better." After he finished he took a sip of his drink and stared back down at the floor. "Anyone else?" I said as the coffee finished and I poured myself a new cup. I put in some cream and sugar and walked back to my chair. I looked around the room and gave everyone a chance to speak, but no one did. Finally I decided I would have to take charge. "Ok, tell me what you think you yourself did wrong, and be honesty. Maybe this can help us complete the mission successfully. Let's start with you Lonewolf." I said asLonewolf drew attention to him himself by standing up to refill his cup. He froze and stared at me. I smiled and he filled his cup up. All the pilots in the room watched as he stirred the contents of his cup and sat back down."Well?" I said one last time before he began to tell the tale of simulator exprience. One by one I got an account from my pilots of thier heroics in the sims. I learned from each one and began formulatng a new tactic for our next run. This time we would be victorious. Every now and then a new member would file and get some coffee. I could see the look of defeat upon their faces. They too gave their accounts, although they were abbrievated for convience. ------ tally to here   ----------------------- ESCM/1LT Michael "sk8guy" Rose/Aegis 1/mSSD Artus/DEF/VEN/VE      (=A=)(=MA=)(=JCPA=)(=SCPA=)(=UCPA=)[-BRC-][-VC|E-] TRN/ADT sk8guy/VEDJ/m/SSD Atrus      "Unleash the power of the Dragon!" - Michael "sk8guy" Rose

After Sk8 was finished formulation the new tactic for the next run, he gathered every Aegis member in the lounge to his table.  Sk8 spoke to each individual member and told them what their job was once they reran the sim again.  After Sk8  had spoken to every one of them, everybody took a last sip of their drinks and started to walk back towards the simulator room together. After they reached the simulator room, each member was about to strapped themselves in the sim until Sk8guy noticed that there was still one more person who was still in the simulator from the previous sim.  Sk8 walked over to the control panel and pused a button checked out who this person was.  It was Liquid, he was still in the sim and hasn't given up on the fight yet.  Sk8 pushed another button to check out the mission status.  Liquid was the only remaining Aegis pilot in the sim.  His TIE Advanced was badly damaged, his shields were down to 8% and his hull down to 51%.  The Runner was in bad shape too, it's shields was knocked out and its hull is down to 38%.  Two flights of X-wings remained and four flights of A-Wngs. "Hey guys don't enter the sim yet, we're gonna wait for Liquid to get shot down.  Shouldn't take more than a minute with all those fighters on his tail.  Once he gets out of his sim I'll tell him our new tactic, after that we'll enter the sim and win this time." Sk8 said to everybody in the room. "Ah good...Liquid just got blasted by an A-Wing, he should be coming out soon."

He pushed his head up out of the simulator's cockpit, slamming his helmet down, and becoming more and more angry. "Where was my support???" he shouted, looking to his flight members for an answer. "We were ordered to fail the mission by Sk8, sir," Kain continued, "So, we left you alone to die." "Well, thanks," Liquid said, picking up the second broken helmet and handing it to his r2 droid that accompanied him today, "You know, we could've made it, had you not all given up and gotten some drinks. I understand Rogue's situation, and he should even have been here right now, but, I feel that he is acceptable to fly, and since this is just a sim, he has my go for it." Liquid pulled a third helmet off the shelf, and put it on as Sk8 told him the plan of attack for their next go. He jumped into his simulator, and powered up, ready for anything. Liquid watched as the darkness absorbed into the simulated cockpit of a Tie Advanced, putting his hands on the familiar controls, and going through his preflight as he went over the mission in his head once more. The pilots would still be at the same level, and he knew that the X-wing corps were one of the harder ones, because they had 2 squadrons. The A-wings have only 1 squadron. Therefore, he knew that he would have to take out at least 4 X-wings, making up for the lax in performance that he had been seeing as of late.

Everybody in the room picked out their sim and jumped into the cockpit, strapping themselves in and getting ready for the sim to start.  Kain made a mental check list and went through the list what he had to do in the sim. "Popping out the simulator's cockpit Sk8 asked, "Is everybody ready?" Everybody either nodded or yelled out some form of 'yes' to the question.  "Alright guys lets get this do this!" Sk8 shouted, then he sat down in the cockpit, strapped himself in, and waited for the sim to begin. Kain prepared for the sim to launch.  The screen lit up with white lines that shrank into dots.  Kain's TIE A/D had just exited hyperspace and so did the other Aegis members. "Okay guys theirs the Imperial Corvette Runner.  Alright get into postion and form up in front of  the Corvette." Sk8 ordered over the comm.  The three flights of Aegis formed a tight circle in front of the Corvette.  "Keep alert, those X-Wings should be coming in any minute now."  Aegis flew farther and farther away from the Corvette and closer to where the X-Wings drop out point would be.  The first part of their plan was to get close enough to the drop out point and fire at them before they can get any chance to react, this way they'll be confused, disoriented, and scattered around. "There they are, they're dropping out of hyperspace now.  Fire on my mark...NOW!" As soon as Sk8 shouted 'now' the entire squadron sprayed their green laser bolts in the direction of the X-Wings.  Almost instantly they were able to knock out four X-Wings and badly damaging several others.  The X-Wings broke off from its formation and scattered everywhere. "Alright Aegis, break up in pairs and take out those X-Wings quickly before the other squadron of X-Wings get here!" Sk8 shot down a X-Wing as he yelled over the comm.

I whipped my stick forward and took up my position on D_Cos's wing. I could tell he was anxious for some kills. As of right now he had very few and we needed more practice, and I was more than happy to oblige. He pulled around onto the tail of an X-wing and fired. The quad linked burst grazed the upper-right wing and sent it shearing off. The X-wing compensated by pulling his wings together and racing around the battle field with his wings locked. I smiled cause I knew he couldn't manuever good and his lasers wouldn't work in that position. He had to a rookie."Finish him off D_Cos." I shouted over the comm. I wathced as two quick bursts of green laser fire connected with the X-Wing, exploding it into a giant fireball. D_Cos yelled over the comm, but was quickly silenced as the next squadron of X-Wings exited hyperspace. 5 of the original X-wings remained, not too bad. I took the lead over D_Cos and armed my missles. The new wave of X-wings was still out pretty far so I knew I had a chance with missles. D_Cos followed my lead. I picked a nice group of the X shaped fighters and waited for a tone. I linked my missiles together for dual fire and fired off two quick barrages. The missiles streaked intowards their target, exploding the X-Wing and then the second missiles hit, making the inferno even larger and consuming three more of the surrounding X-Wings. I wathced as two X-wings exited the firey ball, obvisously badly damaged. I throttled up and prepared to engage them with lasers. D_Cos's missiles didn't have the effect mine did, but he locked onto two different fighters and got them. The same results with a different tactic. The two remaining X-wings from my assualt tired to flee, but their fighters flew straight. It was safe to assume they had lost their manuevering engines and stablizers. I swung my advanced around behind them and finished each one off with a quad linked burst, dead center into their fuselages.

(OOC: Read the starter post guys...we're not encountering all of those X-wings at one time. and Sk8, who the heck is D_Cos?) Liquid pulled his craft around, bobbing, yelling, and weaving in and out, firing when needed, but ultimately, getting rid of the single squadron of X-wings that opposed their trip. He pulled his ship's controls back hard, making it go into a tight loop, and ultimately confusing the newbie of a pilot that was tailing him. "HA!" Liquid shouted, releasing a flare and watching it make contact with the rebel's cockpit. "Don't mess with Aegis!!!" Liquid pushed hard on the controls, dodging and weaving the red lasers that seemed to all be coming at him. He reduced his speed to 1/3 and turned his craft sharply, aiming at one of the X-wings and throttling up to meet it in head to head combat. Liquid smiled as the computer's simulation got scared and made the pilot turn away from him, pushing it's engines hard, trying to get away from the far more manueverable Tie Advanced that Liquid was piloting. Liquid targeted the X-wing with his missles, and waited for the targeting computer to confirm a lock. Liquid heard the affirmative set of beeps, and let loose 2 missles, and watched them hit home. "Damn," Liquid said, pulling up to get away from the rebel scum that was coming up behind him, and eating away at his shields, "It feels good to be in a Tie Advanced."

PJ slid in behind of one of the few remaining X-Wings...so far Aegis' new tactic had proved very effective. Many of the enemy had now been destroyed and the rest were slowly taking damage as well. Meanwhile, Aegis in general had taken very little damage from the X-Wings...no permanent damage had yet to be done. The small beeping became a constant tone as PJ obtained a missle lock. Pulling the trigger, he watched as the X-Wing was ripped apart by the point-blank missile shot. Scanning his radar for another target, PJ found Rusty trying to shake another X-Wing off his tail. Swinging his fighter around to help his fellow pilot. Targeting the attack rebel, banked and intercepted the enemy just as Rusty zipped past. With a fury of fire, PJ had taken out the X-Wings shields and as they passed eachother. Watched on his scanners as Rusty turned and wasted the rebel pilot. "Nice going Rusty," PJ congragualted over the comm. "Thanks for the help Peej," he heard Rusty respond. So far so good as a good number of their pilots had already returned to full power. By now, the rest of the X-Wing squadron had been eliminated and Aegis began to form up around the Runner as they continued on their journey to Lopen.

Darkhawk landed his TIE Phantom Apocalypse in the Atrus's hangar and strecthed his weary body. He had been in hyperspace for twelve straight hours, after a scouting mission deep in the Unknown Regions that was Dark Jedi related. Now, however, he was back on board the Atrus. It had been a long time since he had been aboard the Super Star Destroyer as a mere pilot ... too long.   The Commodore was looking foward to talking with JMac, his new boss, but there were more important things to handle first. Aegis was in the midst of an Elite Squadron Competition, and Darkhawk meant to help them win. Again. Only this time, he was going to stick around to reap the rewards of being Elite. Whatever those were.   After a brief pause to unload his personal belongings into his new quarters, he hit the showers. Coming back out, he turned on his LOM droid. He hadn't had the droid online and active since becoming the Training Officer, and he was looking foward to talking to Seven again.   The droid's eyes lit up and blinked with recognition at the sight of Darkhawk. "Warrant Officer Darkhawk!" the droid excalimed. "How are you doing today, sir?"   Darkhawk laughed and shook his head. "I need to get you down to the Droid Control Center for some databank updates, Seven."

The droid cocked its head to one side. "Sir? I don't understand."   "You will. In fact, why don't you head on down there yourself? We'll talk more later."   "Of course." With that, the black droid turned and exited the room.     Darkhawk took a few minutes to unpack his things. He was living in a solitary cabin for now, until Aegis's One Flight gained a new member. If he pulled a few strings, he might keep his personal quarters. After all, he was a Commodore. He wasn't too big on staying with a newbie ... or was he? After all, he had worked with rookies the past sixth months as the TO. Maybe having a new guy in the room wouldn't be too horrible after all.   Either way, he could worry about that later. The young Commodore stopped briefly at his Holopad to relay some orders to his ex-liason officer over on the Devastator. He still had some personal belongings over on that ship that needed to be brought over to the Atrus. Like, his Navy uniform for one thing. Darkhawk smiled as he saw the box on his bed that contained his old Aegis Squadron insignia, ranging from the Squadron Patch to his old Flight Member pin. It sure would be fun to get those back on the old uny.   Changing into some fresh clothes, a tan jumpsuit, he headed for the simulators. There had been some changes in Aegis Squadron, or so he had read on the ComNet, and he was looking foward to seeing Kain again. But if he didn't get into the Sim quick, he was sure Lonewolf would kill him.

Aegis formed up around the Corvette.  Now that the X-Wings were taken care of, all Aegis had to do for the time being is follow the Corvette to its destination to pick up supplies.  After the Corvette had reached the hyperspace point, Aegis and the Corvette entered hyperspace to Lopen. Seconds later Aegis and the Corvette exited hyperspace and reentered realspace, they had reached Lopen. "Alright guys follow me, we're gonna use the same tactics we used on the X-Wings." Sk8 said over the comm as he broke off from the Corvette and headed towards the coordinates of the A-Wing's drop out point. The rest of Aegis followed Sk8's lead and formed up around him.  Aegis was now closing in on the drop out point. "They should be dropping out of hyperspace soon, so get ready.  They should be here right about now...what the hell?!? Sk8 shouted over the comm. "Shit these coordinates are wrong! The A-Wings are 3 km from our portside ...new plan, pick your targets and destroy them." The three flights broke off from their formation flew towards their targets.   ----------------------- 2nd Lieutenant Kain "Fire Bomber" Rennok FM/2LT Kain Rennok/Aegis 3-2/mSSD Atrus/VE/VEN [=A=] [=SA=] [=MA=] [=JCPA=] [=SCPA=] [=FOCE=] [VC:ST] [BRC] YF-19 AVF "Black Rain"

On his way to the simulators, at a brisk trod, Darkhawk ran into Captain Bear. "Bear!" he shouted out, halting the other officer in his tracks. "What are you doing on the Atrus?" Bear shook Darkhawk's outstretched hand and replied, "Oh, nothing. Just checking on a few things with Riel. How have you been? I never really expected you to step down as Training Officer so soon. It came as a bit of a shock." "Well, you know how that can be," Darkhawk replied. "You should know more than anyone." Bear nodded. "I'm sure you had your own reasons, and good ones at that. How does it feel to be back with Aegis?" "Well, actually," the Commodore responded, "I don't know. I've been on leave and just now am reporting for duty." Bear smiled. "Damn, I still remember the first day you walked into the Kaph Squadron war room." "It's been awhile." "Tell me about it. Those were the good old days, DH." Darkhawk patted his friend on the shoulder. "Maybe you should join Aegis in a few months, shuffle out of a command position. You know, kick back and relax with PJ and me." "I don't know about that. But ... maybe you should get your butt on over to the Simulator?" Darkhawk's eyes lit up. "Ah! You're right! I'll see you around, all right?" "Of course. Good luck!" "Thanks, Bear. Don't work yourself too hard."

The Trail of green bolts trailed out fast, leaving a trail of sparks launching from the haul of the A-Wing. LoneWolf had been laxing a bit, but now he was certain to kick some arse. The A broke hard to his left, almost as if he would trail behind, he never got past the left crosshair on LW’s screen.  The satisfying look of a burning A-Wing was always pleasure. Moving quick, LoneWolf began a lock on another one while dodged fire, hoping he would go the direction he wanted, but he didn’t. LoneWolf switched to laser cannons and pumped shots at the shields. The A-Wing burst by taking a good trade with hits on LoneWolf. He would of trailed back for it but he had a better idea. He let him pick up a six then danced narrowly around the fire. He kept up the dance, his shields buckled under each hit that skimmed through. Through the entire ordeal though he had been knocking his speed down, it wasn’t until he was in the narrowest of fire that he hit his throttle to full and pulled a loop before the other pilot could realize it. he took the enemy out of his scopes then began to find another target. The maneuver had cost him some shields, and distance from the battle; but not too far, and not too much. "We’ll have this done real soon… I hope."
