Aboard the Adjudicator

A medic’s work was never done. The Mon Calamari had just finished a particularly gruesome bone marrow transplant. He felt sorry for the human he had been operating on; these transplants were never easy, but in this case, it was particularly hard. The human had a severe case of myeloma, a cancer in the marrow itself, in the bones of his ribcage.

As he was finishing his report on the operation, his holopad beeped. It seemed that his Commanding Officer needed to speak with him.

The Chief Petty Officer made his way to the Falleen’s office. He entered upon arrival and addressed the Falleen. “Dr. Kaj? You needed to see me, sir?”

“Ah, yes, Mr. Aaaiser. As you know, our supplies have been almost depleted in our Navy’s previous campaign, and we have not had the time to resupply. As such, Dr. Habend has allowed each of our departments to independently order in new supplies, with a very generous budget, I might add. As it stands currently, I do not have time to order in new supplies, with all of the meetings our Ithorian friend is holding, along with decisions regarding our medical staff in general. So to get this done in a timely manner, I need someone to order in supplies in lieu of my inability currently.”

“Sir?”

“As such, you are the highest ranking officer under my command, and you have proven to be quite an asset as a surgeon. It is time that your administrative capabilities are put to the test. Therefore, I am appointing you to a temporary position as the logistics officer for the surgical teams aboard this ship.”

"Understood, sir.”

“I have left you a list of companies that we typically order our supplies from, in addition to the supplies that are provided to us. I have also had clearance given to you for purchases from the Medical Department’s current funding. I warn you not to abuse this power. There will be extremely severe repercussions if you break my trust.” He eyed the Mon Calamari very critically. “Dismissed.”

Fishhead made his way back to his office, mentally noting the supplies that were most desperately needed. Bacta, general anesthetic, catheters, curettes, mouth props, syringes, needles, suture kits, and surgical sponges. These supplies were almost completely gone. He knew the medicinal chemists were working on renewing the supplies for the specialized drugs and chemicals used throughout the department, so there was no need to order any chemicals save anesthetic.

Sitting down at his desk, he began perusing the list of companies he was provided with. Most of the companies on this list had quite a large production time. Large production times would not suffice; the supplies would not last much longer at all, with the number of patients that they were still treating. He noticed three companies with relatively small production times.

This delivery was far too important to be incorrect. He sent Dr. Kaj a short message explaining his thought processes and asked for authorization to personally pick up the supplies to ensure the order was correct. A few minutes later, he received approval for his request. Now time to find who to buy from. Thinking about his options, he decided to eliminate the options from Abrae, due to their current location in the Belgaroth Shipyards. That left one possible option: Belgaroth Medical. The company was found on the surface and provided service to all of the supplies the Adjudicator needed currently. Encouraged by this stroke of luck, he went ahead and began to place the order:

30 units of boxes of catheters (50 to a box)
10 units of packages of curettes (10 to a package)
60 units of boxes of mouth props (100 to a box)
200 units of boxes of syringes (100 to a box)
200 units of boxes of needles (100 to a box)
100 units of boxes of suture kits (100 to a box)
200 units of boxes of surgical sponges (50 to a box)

With the order in place and his shift officially over, he decided to get some much needed rest.

The next day

The Mon Calamari made his way back to his office to pick up his patients’ files for the day and to check on the status of the order. He saw that he had a new message from Belgaroth Medical:

Subject: Order Received
From: Belgaroth Medical Orders Department

Thank you for your recent purchase. Due to the large quantity of your order, it will require a week to prepare the order. Our records also indicate that you wish to pick up the order. This can be done the following day, after receiving our notification that the order has been completed.

With this news in place, he began to assemble a pickup team to accompany him. Things were all going well.

Eight days later

The shuttles had landed outside Belgaroth Medical and the teams were unloading the transports for loading the shuttles. Fishhead entered the building and announced their arrival. He was then directed towards their order.

The Mon Calamari then commed his teams and had them meet at the location of the order. “Time to begin making sure everything is here…” He muttered under his breath. 

A painful two hours later, they had accounted for the entire order and had loaded up the shuttles with the supplies. They then headed back to the Adjudicator, with supplies and a very content Mon Calamari.

With the shuttles unloaded, it was time to appropriate the supplies to each surgical room. They started by splitting each supply evenly among the ten rooms. The Chief Petty Officer then had the teams transport the supplies to each of the rooms.

Three hours later

The resupplying had gone smoothly. He was about to make his full report to Dr. Kaj. “Sir, our resupplying has officially been completed. I made sure the supplies made it to each of the surgical rooms and were being unpacked. Here are the transcripts of the purchases and a detailed report of the operation.”

“Thank you, Mr. Aaaiser. Good work. Dismissed.”
