Keeping the theme of some VE wide open discussion on various topics I thought I'd bring up chapter 9.

Now most of you will never have seen a VE wide chapter, but basically we used to constantly push forward the VE story line in big VE wide campaigns called chapters.


Something I'd be interested in is some cross divisional work. It was touched upon in Doc's IOC 2.0, but with the isolated nature of the campaign it never really came off. We could for example:

Have a convoy of troop carriers of some kind with army members at the guns and navy members escorting.

A squad of army troopers led into battle by a DJK with the aim of killing a Jedi of the NJO (big maybe there)

The DJO hasn't flexed any piloting muscles for a looong time. We could have a few DJO navy members in specific fighters joining in with a navy squadron.


Anyways don't just keep to the topic I've started with and don't be afraid to voice your thoughts!

most imperial campaigns consisted of several regiments of stormies and their gear being ferried/escorted to the locale by the navy. the navy would then bombard the surface/gain space/air superiority and the landings would begin. 

i, for one, would like to see more co-operation and co-ordination on those lines. the imperial war machine was one unstoppable force when it wanted to be, individually the services had their flaws, together they were mighty.

Bam. That is my wish. I'd also like to see DJO members in general participating in battles. I know only DJKs and up are fit to lead, but some of us in the lower ranks could at least fight.

The NJO are in fact going to be further along than in the books. Given the lack of reborn emporer the praxeum was founded earlier and several Jedi Masters from the old days came out of hiding quicker.

It is possible that because of this the DJO will have a more public face in character. This is something that will be decided at some point in the next few months, but Jedi may get to appear on the field in armor and protecting The Empire. No promises though.

Obviously we're not going to come out and say "Hi guys, we're the really evil Jedi"

ok...now, not looking for definitive answers at this moment, just opening a line of speculation.

would the DJO have an equivalent STC/VEN rank or would they just be automatically in command. if that's the case, does that not lead to a potential for rising hostility tween them and the officer corps?

if it's the equivalent rank case, how do we resolve the issues for those that are now of higher rank, but not DJO?

The simple answer is to treat them as advisors.

You could argue the Clone Wars went on longer than they did because someone arbitrarily became a General because they could use the Force.

Didn't make sense to me then and makes even worse sense now with the galaxy spending decades learning to hate Force users.

I mean, hell, there's gonna be blowback with Imperials realizing we even have Force users on the payroll.

So, a couple problems. Are the Force users second to authority, kind of like alternate squad/squadron leaders? Will they have their own units and be like shock troops in a pinch? Will they be - imperfect example - kind of like old Soviet commissars with no defined role but with significant veto power over orders?

All are plausible options. And all could be used. No need to limit ourselves here. Play around with them.

Dear Fury, for this summer I want what Decembrist is getting: Chapter 9!

In short, the overall thing I most want to see has already been voiced: more mission-stories involving multiple divisions working together.

Taking that line of thought to an extreme, it might be fun for characters of one division to find themselves having to "do the job" members in their sister division usually do.  Examples could include pilots shot down and picked up by trooper squads, and forced to fight their way back to the line on the ground, or troopers "along for the ride" when a Navy ship gets crippled, who must help out with damage control, or act as the "hands" for an injured Navy crewer... there are plenty of dramatic scenarios which would let members really interact, cooperate, and bond with folks from the "other" divisions.

here's something idk has ever been addressed...

for all intents and purposes the VE is a military dictatorship. we are an Empire w/o an Emperor.

that being said, have we ever contemplated opening a POLITICAL line of the narrative. the throne may be empty, but Kad could appoint a Regent, or take the title himself. we'd have a PM or Grand Vizir, a rump Imperial Senate, Planetary/Sector Moffs that are not military alligned, etc.

could make for a very, very robust writing environment.

Methinks there's plenty of politics already without inventing fictional ones.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure that would work out well. I think we'd find that it would drift off into inactivity after a bit, much like the various incarnations of VENI.

As an NPC function of the plot, on the other hand, it might be quite useful. Perhaps even a good platform for Fury to run things from within the story itself.

There may be some issues including Osk though...particularly now that most of its active members are in the DJO. We can't be in two places at once.
