The room was silent except for the occasional sound of a page being flipped, or the soft annoyed sigh from someone who was having an issue with one of the questions. Joamer had his head propped on his hand and was trying not to fall asleep. Kanderin, the newest member of the Academy Staff was pacing slowly through the room. No matter how many times Joamer had told him to sit down and let them find their own answers, he still continued to pace. It was very odd giving orders to someone who used to be your Squad Leader.
Joamer sighed softly and yawned. This group of recruits happened to be very close to their first live training op. This test would let those who passed handle real life situations. A few minutes later his com clicked softly, picking it off the table he placed it to his ear and said quietly "Yes."
"Riot reported in Sianat. Too small to call in the cavalry, thought this might make a good training op." Riqimos voice said quietly.
"Plus it will keep me from killing someone today. Alright, we will take them out and handle it." Joamer said, a second later he clicked off the comm. He looked up at Kand and nodded him over, he waited for friend to step beside him, a puzzled look on his face.
"Stand up and move out. Report to the armory in full battle gear, you have seven minutes to assemble. MOVE IT!" Joamer shouted suddenly. The room seemed to hold its breath for an instant before the sounds of running feet could be heard. Every one of the thirty recruits was out of the door in seconds.
Kand turned to bolt for the door but Joamer stopped him by saying "Don't bother, just a minor riot reported in Sianat. Grab your armor just in case though."
Kand and Joamer walked out of the classroom and down the short hallway. They could hear recruits shouting and things being thrown around. He checked his chrono, they had five minutes left. Stepping into the Academy Armory they both walked up to twin racks and quickly began slipping on armor pieces. Neither of them bothered with the black body suit. Within seconds of each other both had clicked the last piece into place. They walked to the far end of the room and began unlocking weapons lockers.
Joamer heard the sounds of running footsteps and checked his chrono, the first recruit skidded into the room with a second to spare. Motioning with his hand Joamer began handing out standard issue E-11 blaster rifles. He checked them against a scanner before passing them to Kand.
After everyone had been issued one he turned around and grabbed two small triggers and slipped one into his belt, the other he handed to Kand. They were triggers to turn off the default stun setting on the rifles, just in case things turned out to be worse then what was thought. He would only give recruits access to live rounds if he really had to.
"Move out to the transport outside, combat seating. GO GO GO!" Kand shouted a second later. Joamer held back a laugh and checked the load on his R-1A Particle Magnum before holstering it. Kand slipped a DT-57 pistol into it's holster and grabbed a A280 Rifle off the wall before stepping out of the room.
Walking quickly through the deathly silent building Joamer and Kand passed the rooms of newer recruits. All of them were starring as the two men in stealth black body armor passed, they had seen the thirty recruits running through the halls in full combat gear a few seconds early.
Slipping out of the door, they both began jogging. After a few seconds they boarded the small transport and slapped the door switch. Joamer grabbed hold of one of the railings and said "Lift off, Sianat city. Location of the riot should be on your screen." The pilot did not bother to acknowledge as he took the transport away from the Academy.
"Listen up. We don't know how many there are, last reports were of five hundred. All heavily armed and heavily armored. The local police force, and the emergency dispatch of Troopers were out flanked, we think some may still be alive, but we are not sure." Joamer said after a few seconds. He could see the recruits look at each other, a few took a deep breath and continued to look at him. He memorized their faces for his reports.
After a few seconds one of the recruits spoke up and said "Sirs, why do you both have black armor?"
Kand and Joamer shared a brief glance, Kand said after a second "We were both in Wraith." Murmuring began in the transport. The recruits by now had a pretty good idea of what squad they wanted to be in. Wraith still was one of the best, RAIDERS was still better though.
The transport landed a short minute later and Joamer slapped the door control. The hatch slid open and both Instructors stepped out. The recruits followed a few seconds behind them. They had their weapons out and looked extremely nervous. Joamer and Kand slowly walked to the front of the transport to see a group of ten men all angrily shouting. No weapons were seen at all. The local police force was holding back a growing group of pedestrians.
Walking closer Joamer could hear what they were saying, it was about a recent holomovie that had been canceled while in the middle of the first showing. Both Instructors started laughing, the recruits behind them had odd expressions on their faces.
Drawing his Particle Magnum Joamer set it for low stun and shot the ground near one of the rioters feet. The group seemed to freeze for an instant before they ran away screaming. Holstering the weapon Joamer turned around and looked over the recruits. Their faces made it clear they had no idea what was going on.
"Go back to the Academy and get changed. You can have the rest of the day off." Joamer said a few seconds later. He watched them board the transport slowly, and watched it fly off towards the Academy grounds. He tapped a button on his wristpad.
A few seconds later another ship landed. Joamer and Kand quickly stripped out of their armor and placed it into bins in the back. They both kept their pistols but Kand placed the A280 into the back with his armor. Joamer kept the uniform pants on but slipped a white shirt after he pulled off his Academy uniform top.
He looked up to see Havock walking up, scowling in his directions. After a second she said "I was out and I heard the commotion. Thought I could be of help, but the bloody police over there ignored me."
Joamer smiled as he finished putting his armor away. Kand stepped to the side of the ship to finish changing. "Well, Kand and I have the day off. I figure with the three of us we can find some more trouble, shouldn't take too long."
Kand looked up and grinned wolfishly. He ducked back down and went back to placing his armor in the small cargo vehicle.
