Ke nu'jurkadir sha Mando'ade. – Don’t mess with the Mandalorians.
Background Born into the nomadic warrior society of the infamous Mandolorians, the early life of Kas Teroch befitted a son of a Mando mercenary. His father, Buy’ce Teroch, was a debt enforcer for various illicit loanshark rings run by Hutt criminal syndicates in the last days of the Republic. Teroch senior delivered notices of late payment for debts in arrears the impolite way; with the barrel of a heavy blaster. Young Kas was schooled in rudimentary arms handling and basic tactical concepts, showing particular adeptness and keenness in learning small-unit tactics. Tough physical training regimes his father put him through, in the expectation that he will follow him in his gun-for-hire footsteps, further honed his skills and instinct.
Desiring more order, structure and discipline than the life of a mercenary could afford, Teroch broke family tradition by deciding to enlist in the Stormtrooper Corps. He believed it was better to serve institutions that preached order than to prostitute hard-won martial skills to the criminal underworld. It was a decision that did not go down too well with his family and extended clan due to how Mandalorian society strictly held itself above political affiliations and how individuals preferred to offer their services for the highest bidder instead. Ignoring the vehement objections, he found himself bound for Tadath and the Stormtrooper Academy of the Vast Empire Imperial faction shortly after Grand Admiral Thrawn’s victory at the Battle of Obroa-Skai.
Personality and TraitsThe bitter estrangement from his family did not cause him to divorce himself from his birth roots. Teroch strictly adheres himself to his warrior culture and very much sees himself as a son of Mandalore. Honour, loyalty, justice and a low threshold for
osik, i.e.
shit in his native tongue, are the principles that drive his life. A gruff exterior hides his achingly strong ideals that reside in his educated but naïve young mind. He has yet to develop the complexity and duality of men exposed repeatedly to the stresses of extended combat.
A noteworthy physical feature of Teroch is a solitary tattoo etched on the inside of his right forearm inscribing the word ‘Manda’, dedicated to the significance of his cultural identity. The
Manda is best described as a conscious awareness of one’s identity as a Mandalorian, an oversoul that emphasizes the essence of being one. The tattoo epitomizes the strength of belief in such tenets to a degree that perhaps could qualify as pseudo-religious.
Despite the extensive training he had under his father, Teroch is very much a novice in the world of killing, with only a handful of vicious but brief bar-brawls under his belt. Nonetheless, he has developed a personal combat style that reflects an ingrained cynicism to be expected of men of mercenary bloodlines; he holds that blasters are deemed superior to vibroblades and other assorted melee weapons; and that men who live by the sword die by the gun.
Finally, it should be noted that the young man has a particular fondness for
Tihaar, a strong clear alcoholic spirit from his native homeworld.
