OOC:
Courtest of C3PX2 for giving me the idea, I meant to catch you on IRC to talk about this, but I apologise for not being able to do so

Kanderin took another sip of coffee, his eyes fading in and out of focus upon the lines and lines of text emblazening his computer screen. A glance at the clock confirmed it was well past three in the morning, and everyone else in the immediate vicinity fell asleep long ago, lights from the other barracks going out one by one. Even the rogue troopers, who'd snuck off to the local taverns, had already gotten back and dozed off.

He'd forgotten what he was reading a few minutes back, so he was almost glad when a knock at the door interrupted him. He threw his coffee cup down to one side and urged this body to rise from its slumber. He was hesitant to open it, not only because he didn't really want company, but also because of the hour.

"Helena? What the hell are you doing up at this hour?" Kanderin said, trying to stifle a yawn. His ASL was stood there in nothing but her night gown, shivering from head to toe.

"I couldn't sleep" She chattered "Mind if I stay a while?"

"Sure thing, I'm only putting some reports together"

"Couldn't that wait until tomorrow? It's pretty late"

"I got a message through earlier, Darr's summoned me for a meeting in a few hours, so I figured I might as well stay up and get some work done" He smiled and shrugged "For once"

"Thanks" Helena nodded, dashing into the room as Kand locked the door behind her. He was about to say she was free to find her way into his blankets, but she did so before he had the chance.

"So what's up?" Kanderin asked, seating himself back at his desk and trying to look busy.

"I've just...got a really bad feeling about something" Helena replied, blushing.

"As in..."

"As in something bad is going to happen to one of us soon"

"With me in command?" Kanderin grinned. "You've got nothing to worry, if anyones going to die in this squads its because I've whipped them one too many times"

Helena tried to laugh, but it came out as little more than another shiver. "But still..."

Kanderin sighed and got up from his desk, moving across the room to sit on the bed with Helena, putting one arm around her.

"Everything's going to be fine, I promise you. I won't let anything go wrong, okay?" He soothed.

"Thankyou"

"Don't worry about it. You can stay here tonight if you want, sleep in my bed." He pointed over at his desk "I'll be right there until morning, anyone that want's to hurt you has to get past me, okay?"

Helena giggled for the first time in a while, before nodding and curling herself into a comfortable position. Kanderin went back to his position at the desk. Helena watched him typing line after line, her vision slowly going blacker and blacker, until it disappeared entirely.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"There's been a...problem... with one of our research platforms in the Vectra system, that needs our attention petty sharpishly" Darr began, pushing a heavy file towards Kanderin's end of the desk. He carried on explaining as Kanderin glanced through it.

"There was some sort of problem with one of their experiments, and something happened resulting in many deaths, and some sort of virus emerging"

"You don't know much about what you're asking, do you Darr?" Kanderin smiled.

"What made you guess that?"

"Well, the fact that this file is empty apart from a few satellite pictures, and that you're being far too general"

"Good spot" Darr shrugged "Anyway, High Command, for whatever reason want to blow the place into a million pieces, but first of all they've asked us to send a squad. Some of the experiment reports are very valuable, and we could do with at least recovering those before we blow it up. Or even better, you guys could confirm that it's safe again, and there's no need"

"So we're on a scavenging hunt?"

"Pretty much. Have your squad ready in the next three hours, your ship will be here in three and a half"

Helena lay warm and snug in Kanderin’s bed. It was the cosiest she’d felt in a long time. It was the best company she could have had at this moment in time. As she drifted off to sleep, the shivering began to stop, and she became deep in a dream like state.

She dreamt she was running, running from something huge, but she didn’t know what it was. It was something dark and tall, but unknown to her. Heavy breathing could be heard from the creature-like thing. It made Helena run for miles upon miles, until she finally woke up, sweaty and short for breath.

“Kand?!” She panted.

There was no reply.

Helena sat up, the blankets pulled up to her chin, trying to keep herself warm.

“I have a bad feeling about something”

Her vision was still blurred but she had to check the time. She emerged from the mountain of sheets and blankets and wandered off into Kand’s office. It was 0630, Helena was late, but since she was ASL, I’m sure they could wait.

Bare footed and in her nightdress, Helena made her way through the building, back to her room for a shower and a change of clothes.

RK had been walking aimlessly around the barracks since he had awoke at 0645. He couldn't really understand why he had really gotten up so early, it wasn't normal; but something in the pit of his stomach made him feel like something bad was going to happen, and real soon. Until then though, walking through the barracks kept those thoughts at bay.

The longer he walked though, the more his body ached. He hadn't realized how much damage that explosion had done to him from their last mission, until now; His whole body felt like it was going to shut down. Every step he took was like he was getting punched in the chest repeatedly. I should really get it checked out, but I probably won't.

“Excuse me, Sir?” A sound made it's way to RK's ears, but he ignored it. That is until he ran into the person who had just asked the question, which instantly made a shot of dull pain sere through his body.

“Owww, what you do----” RK paused when he realized who it was that he had just ran into, “---Leon?”

“That's the name.” the man replied, his face turning into a grin.

“I haven't seen you in forever, what are you doing on Wraiths barracks?”

“Wait, RK?” Leon asked, his face a confused mess.

“Yea, didn't think you remembered me, been a long time since basic training.”

“Yea it has.”

“So, what can I do for you?” RK asked, as he grabbed for his chest as another shot of pain made it's way through his body.

“Well, it be nice to find out what I do next, after all I am here.” Leon  said, handing RK a piece of a paper.

“Ah, alright, well then, follow me.” RK turned around and started walking, not realizing that he had developed a slight limp, but still it didn't bother him, right now he had to find Helena or Kand.

“How's life treating you RK? Everything good?” Asked Leon, reaching into his pocket for a cigarette.

“Yeah its alright, same old same old. We just got back from a mission,” RK paused for a second, grimacing in pain. “It was pretty intense.”

“I can tell, you look pretty beat up. Have you gone to the medical bay yet?”

“No but I plan on going.”

Finally finding a cigarette, Leon placed it between his lips. “Well I suggest you go today, you never know when we'll get sent off again. Damnit, wheres my lighter?” Leon asked aloud to no one in particular.

“Don't worry about it. I doubt they'd send us off on another mission so soon,” RK replied, trying not to let the pain show. “So what brings you to Wraith?”

Leon pulled out a small shiny object, bringing it up to the tip of his cigarette. He popped the lighters cap and let his thumb quickly slide across the flint stone. A small flame shot outwards, and he quickly lit his cigarette, taking a long and soothing drag. “Let's just say I did a couple of things I shouldn't have. They threw me in a prison cell back on Coruscant, and said I'd be there for five years. There was no way in hell I was staying in that bantha hole for five years, so I made a bargain...”

“And that was?”

“Serve the corps for an extra seven years.”

RK whistled in reply, his eyebrows arching up.

“I was supposed to get stripped of my rank and medals to, but thanks to some connections I got lucky. Besides, I don't mind serving the corps. No one else gets to blow crap up and not get in trouble for it,” replied Leon with a grin. “So how's the rest of the squad, they a good bunch?”

“Best I've ever been with.”

RK stopped in front of a large building, the typical squad barracks. As they approached the door to the building, Leon flicked his cigarette to the floor and stamped it out. Above the entrance, in bold lettering were the words:

“Wraith PRIDE”

He smirked at the words and followed RK inside. Just like any other barracks he had been in, the very first room was the living area. A holo-projector lay in the center of the living area, surrounded by a couple of couches. The two troopers walked to the end of the large living area and into a narrow hallway, with doorways on either side which probably were the troopers rooms.

“You're gonna be bunking with me. The rooms pretty large, so personal space shouldn't be an issue,” Said RK casually, making a left into one of the doorways.

The room before Leon was pretty decent sized, and there were two separate beds on either side of the room. Walking over to what he guessed was his bed, Leon unslung his army issued ruck-sack and let it drop to the ground, a loud thump resounding on impact. He couldn't wait to get some rest, the trip from Coruscant was a long one and he needed sleep badly, but first he needed to meet his squad leader.

“So are we gonna meet the man in charge now?” Leon asked, turning to see another man in the door way.

“That, would be me,” replied Kanderin with a smile.

Leon quickly stood to attention and saluted his squad leader, who in return let off a salute of his own. “Senior Sergeant Leon Chase reporting as ordered, sir.”

“Glad to have you, Sergeant Chase. Get yourself comfortable and we'll talk later, I have some things to take care of that require my attention,” Kanderin replied, turning to RK. “Show him around, and do me a favor, go get yourself checked out, you look pretty bad.”

“Will do,” replied RK, leaning on a desk for support.

“I'll see both of you later then,” Kanderin said before leaving the two of them alone.

“Well isn't he the cool guy?” Joked Leon.

“Yeah, he's not to strict or anything, I'm pretty sure you're gonna fit in just fine.”

“Yup, now if you excuse me, I'm gonna go for a quick smoke.” And with that, Leon walked out of the room, a smug smile settled on his face.

To bad it wouldn't last long....

"You're leaving?"

The noise from the lounge had already gathered quite a bit of attention, Leon already dragging RK through to see what was up.

"I've got no choice Kand, there's some things I have to do" Jennabelle nodded, looking down at the floor.

"Cant you do them here?"

"I wish I could. It's not forever, I'll be back soon. Besides, Leon is taking my place, he's a good kid"

"That's not the point" Kanderin sighed, looking around the room. The squad still only contained less than half of their full capacity, which probably explained why they were sent on some lame scavenger mission. They couldn't be trusted to start blowing things up again just yet.

"You were a good trooper Jenn, you'll be missed" He smiled, eventually "I'll call you a cab, gives you time to say goodbye to the rest"

"Thanks, Kand" She called after Kand, who was already leaving the room "For everything"

"Don't mention it" Kanderin replied, passing the wraith signature cheesy thumbs up back.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Someone told me we lost Jenn?" Helena shouted, running in and collapsing in a sweat in the middle of the lounge.

"Yeah, we did. Personal issues" Kand replied, going through his bags and checking everything was there.

"So I'm the only girl now?"

"Pretty much" RK nodded, dismantling some sort of weapon and packing it away.

"Woohoo!" She shouted

"Someone's feisty" Leon responded smiling, juggling a pack of cigarettes in his fingers "I like that"

"Excuse me? Who the hell is this guy!?" Helena blurted out, running to Kanderin's side.

"Senior Sergeant Leon, Wraith's newest member" Kand replied.

"And it's a pleasure to meet you" Leon winked back.

"Oh and Leon, I would quit flirting with her. That's Sergeant Helena Leucine, my ASL. You don't want to meet the last guy that did that"

"Why, what happened to him?" Leon smiled, almost nervously.

"Wanna find out?" Helena smirked, cracking her knuckles.

RK just grinned as he saw the scene that was unfolding; Helena wasn't going to do anything, but just to see the look on Leon's face as she cracked her knuckle was almost hilarious; but he wasn't about to laugh, even laughing hurt.

You should go get checked out, whatever happened to you could be fatal, stop being so stubborn. He knew the risks if he went anywhere that meant he could end up worse than he was at this moment, but for some reason he was afraid that if he did go he would be held back from any further activity.

“Hey, RK did you get checked out yet?” Kand asked.

Lie, tell him ye---- “No, I haven't, I will do that as soon as I'm done here.” RK replied, slapping himself mentally. You really don't under stand the concept of lying.

“No, I want you to go now. Understood?” Kand scolded, realizing that if he didn't order RK to go, then he wouldn't go.

“Yes, Sir.” RK replied. He immediately put his stuff down and headed for the door, his limp getting considerably worse the more he moved on it. If he would have just stopped being so stubborn, this would have never happened; but that was how he had been acting lately.

“And don't come back until you have a diagnoses.”

-_--_-_-_-

RK had been setting down on top of the cold metal bed for what seemed like hours. Every minute felt like another problem was being added onto what he knew was already a long list; it was probably his imagination though, so what did he really have to worry about.

“The results are in.” The good doctor had finally returned, his head kept down as he stared at the clipboard; he flipped through pages of flimsi rapidly, which just added to RK's nerves.

“Alright, Doc, let's just cut to the chase, what's wrong?” RK's voice gave away everything, including how close he was on the edge of insanity.

“Well, everything checks out. You do have a couple broken ribs, and your leg is badly sprained, but other than that you fine, just some cuts and bruises.” The doctor finally looked up at RK, as if he knew it was safe to do so.

this guy has got to be joking, I felt like I was thrown out of a speeder on Coruscant. “Umm, are you sure you have the right clipboard, or whatever?”

“That's what I thought at first too, but yes I have the right clip board...” The doctor paused to set the clipboard down, then continued his speech, “... it's miraculous, after I heard what happened, but for Wraith members, this isn't unusual, I will tell you that everyone on that squad has luck, lot's of it too.”

I could have told you that, I should be dead now, but I'm not. “Yea, that's for sure.”

“Anyway, I have worse patients to attend to, so I'm letting you go. And just be careful.” the doctor left the room; RK was relieved that he did, he hated listening to Doctor's, but that one he could get used to.

Looks like I better head back to getting ready to go, wherever it is we are going.

Leon was still winking at Helena; she had a death stare across her face.

“What?” She said with attitude, placing her hand lightly on her hip.

“Oh, nothing” Leon replied, smirking to himself.

Helena shrugged him off and sat down. She pulled out a book and began reading, only to find Kand and Leon overlooking on her shoulders.

“What now?” She seemed to be getting annoyed at this point.

“Oh nothing. Just, you never read. Must be something important.”

Leon grabbed the book and ran to the other side of the room. He flipped it over to find the name of the novel. ‘Love Blossoms’. Both Leon and Kand began to laugh uncontrollably.

“What?” She said, her pale complexion turning rosy at her cheekbones.

They both threw the book at her and ran out giggling.

“Men…”

------------ Few minutes later --------------------

“Kand, May I come in?” She whispered, hoping no one could hear her as she stepped into his office.

“Of course, I always have time for my ASL. What’s up?” He patted the seat besides him.

“It’s Leon, is he here permanently?” her voice slightly quivering.

“Yes, why Kiddo?”

“Oh, nothing” She face palmed before heading out of the door.

The ship that arrived for them was, clunky, to say the least. Pretty much all of the army were out doing a mission somewhere, which meant most of the good ships had gone with them. Wraith, being rushed out of the door, were obviously left with the crappy one.  Nor were they that impressed with the drive, who turned the boosters the wrong way upon entry and managed to blow several of their bags two hundred metre's across the landing strip.

"Damn, I was that close to getting a strike!" A man shouted from the cockpit, emerging a few seconds later displaying the stupidest helmet they had ever seen. it wasn't as much a helmet as what appeared to be a modified fish bowl, a few little pieces of tape covering cracks in the glass. Kand didn't like it's odds of surviving a simple punch, or at least he hoped so if his attitude continued.

"You mean you did that on purpose?" Kand growled.

"Course, I've got to have some sort of fun flying you army airheads about, haven't I?" The man replied, adding a 'hic' onto the end.

"Airhead!? Who the hell you calling airhead you stupid dirty little tr.."

"Kand!" Helena butted in, nudging him hard in the side

"You should listen to your girlie captain, if you know what's good for you" The man winked, pressing a button from his cockpit which caused the large doors at the back of the ship to open.

"Girlie!? Who the hell you callin...."

"Helena!" Kand shouted, grabbing Helena's shoulder ready to pull her back.

"What's your name Pilot?" Kand shouted up "The superiors will be hearing about this"

"Me? Oh I'm not one of you stupid navy flyboys, I'm freelance. None of your cowardly pilots will go anywhere near where you're going"

"And what's that supposed to mean?"

"You mean you haven't heard the rumors?" The man looked Kand in the eye's for the very first time, a very worried expression stretching across his face.

"No...What rumors?" Kand responded, trying not to stutter.

"Oh you haven't? Ah don't worry about it then, you'll be fine" The man's face turned into a wild grin, turning away and shutting the door to the cockpit after him.

"Sure we can trust this guy?" RK whispered, having just gotten back from collecting the rest of the bags.

"We don't really have a choice" Kand sighed, trying to resist the urge to pull the man back out of the cockpit.

“Jeez, and just like that we're off on another mission,” Leon said aloud, lighting up a cigarette.

RK had went to the Medical Bay to get checked out, so Leon decided to make the trip on his own to their transport. He had doubts on RK's condition, and for him to be going off on a mission so soon wouldn't really be the smartest thing. One squad mate could jeopardize the squad as a whole, and that could lead to some unwanted casualties. As squad medic, it was Leon's responsibility to look after the squads condition and their ability to perform. He needed to see how everyone was doing physically and mentally, and he took this responsibility very seriously.

Leon had to admit though, he was feeling quite nervous. He had never administered any kind of medical care on the battle field, except for simulations. Even the simulations shook Leon up, and he had a success rate of 50%, which wasn't something to be proud of. Someone had to do it though, and Leon took the responsibility upon himself to pursue such a specialty.

“Hey new guy, what took you so long?” Asked a menacing Helena.

Leon approached the transport, taking one last drag on his cigarette before flicking it away. “Did you miss me?” He asked with a cocky grin.

“Shut up and board the shuttle before I'm forced to make things painful.”

“Whatever you say miss,” replied Leon with a wink as he walked up the boarding ramp.

A few minutes later RK showed up, looking pretty stiff. “Well the Doctor said I have a few broken ribs and a sprained leg. Nothing to serious I guess,” RK said, staring at Leon bleakly.

“Well if you need anything just lemme know, I am the squad medic after all,” replied Leon reassuringly.

Helena walked over towards the two of them with a smug grin on her face. “What was that you said new guy?”

“You can call me Leon doll face. And I said 'I am the squad medic after all.'”

“Well, Leon, it just so happens you have some competition,” she replied, that cute confident grin still placed on her face.

“And who would that be?”

“That would be me.”

“Interesting,” Leon mused. “We have something in common, lets mate.”

Helena glared at Leon, who in return stared back at her with a wide grin. The two of them held the gaze for a couple seconds longer before she stormed off to the front of the ship.

“I suggest you stop hitting on her Leon. I don't think its working,” RK said, plopping down on a seat.

“Don't worry, I just like messing around, its nothing serious. She's a little fire cracker though,” chuckled Leon.

“Yeah, well, watch your back when we're out there today. I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to shoot you.”

“Don't worry about it, every things gonna be fine.”

Most of the squad were finding it difficult to hold onto the contents of their bowels, what with their pilots need to ‘test out what the ship could do’. Kanderin had never asked a pilot, but he was pretty sure even they didn’t meet this sort of G-Force. Clinging to the small panels bordering the ship, he made his way step by step through into the pilots quarters.

“How close are we?” He began, shortly before diving out of the way of a coffee cup freefalling back towards him.

“Not long now, you could see if you opened your god damn eyes” The man grunted back.

He was about to shout an insult back, until he saw the little white speck began to form on the screen in front of him. They were gaining on it quite rapidly, it’s form becoming more and more clear to them. It was quite a big place, he assumed a ten minute walk from end to end. At each of its four corners lay a sphere like dome with various measuring instruments sticking out of it. Painted a strong white, the black windows couldn’t be more eerie looking. Although he was assured the place still had power and thus would have it’s gravity and lighting intact, it still looked as if they were approaching complete darkness. As if to confirm that, someone then turned the lights out on their own ship.

“What the hell did you touch!?” The pilot screamed, jumping up from his panel and spinning around to face Kanderin.

“The hell you’re blaming this in me, I didn’t touch a thing!” Kanderin shouted back.

“Well someone did, the whole ship just lost power!”

“Maybe you forgot to charge it?” Kanderin grinned.

“Oh be quiet…”

Kanderin went to step backwards out of the cockpit to check the power terminals, only to find his foot leave the ground and not return. His whole body began to float up into the air, and not long after cause him to crash into the ceiling.

“Great, so we have no gravity either now?” He sighed.

“Really? I thought you were just playing Superman” The man growled back.

“Oh just shut up and get the power back on”

Something definitely wasn't right; RK was slowly floating towards the ceiling, along with Leon who was frantically trying to grab the pistol that had been getting away from him. Helena on the other hand seemed to be prepared, she was clinging onto the closest thing, trying to keep herself from getting to far away from the ground.

“Okay, who turned off the gravity?” Leon said, finally getting close enough to his pistol in order to get a hold on it.

“Huh, that reminds me, what did you say about people flying on our last mission?” Helena's face turned into a slow grin.

“This doesn't count, were actually suspended in Mid-air. But while we are up here.....” RK's voice trailed off, his mind was going extremely fast as a whole bunch of ideas flowed through his mind; most of them involving bounding off walls.

“Leon, grab my hand.” RK said, extending his hand, which moved him through the space slightly.

“Dude, no.” Leon said, a hint of hostility in his voice.

“Trust me, sides if it make you feel any better I don't go that way.” RK said, his hand still extended.

“Fine.” Leon let out a low sigh before grabbing RK's hand. RK pulled himself closer, and then proceeded to let go of Leon's hand using the momentum he mustered toe propel himself of Leon's back. Thank you no gravity. The propulsion sent him flying towards the nearest wall, which he promptly shifted his body so that he was able to hit the wall with his feet to keep himself moving. “YAY!!!”

“RK you going to get---”Helena barely got the words out before a familiar sound was heard; a low hum spread throughout the cabin and the ears of those inside it.

Without a second though RK kept going, but his fun was promptly halted. Just when he was about to hit the wall and propel off of it he felt gravity take hold. His whole body ran into the wall, hard; bouncing off that he fell to the floor, face first. Again, he felt like he had just been through another explosion minus the burning, except for that of his lungs, which were burning from shortnes sof breath

“Nobody. Say. a. word......oooooohhhh.” RK knew everyone was also hurting from the landing, how he was able to say anything at all; was beyond him.

“Is everyone okay?” Kand's voice filled everyone's ears over the humming.

For over a two seconds time period nobody responded, until Leon began to get back up on his feet. “Yea, I think so.”

“I'm fine.” Helena's voice cued in.

“RK?”

“Ummm, I think I'm just going to lay here a little longer, it's quit comfortable.” RK replied, still not feeling up to even moving at all.

“I will take that as a yes.”

OOC:
Hey, guys, I apologise about being unable to post but I've been tied down in exams and revision. However, the only person I actually know has a reasonable excuse is Leon. So, let's see some posts, alright? Maybe I'll help out that 'too many sergeants' argument and hand out some demotions? :P

"It just cut out. No error's, no failures, no nothing. It just went dead"

"A ship cant just go dead, something must of happened" Kanderin replied, opening a box near to the controls and checking all the electronics inside were still working.

"This one just got serviced, everything was working fine"  The pilot replied.

"Eh, whatever you say. Just hurry up and dock us already"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The station grew larger and larger the closer they got to it, until upon landing on the narrow hanger bay it got to the point of infinity. Not the good kind either, the kind of infinity where you feel the only thing living is yourself. This entire complex was empty, and it made everyone on board the ship feel incredibly lonely.

"You all got everything you need?" The pilot shouted out the window.

Kanderin glanced back at the rest of the squad, gathered around him with rifles slung over their shoulders, full uniform supplying a fresh air supply to their lungs, and a small bag containing water supplies and medical kits.

"Seem's it. We'll call you when we need a pick-up" Kanderin nodded back.

"Whatever, I'll be in a tavern somewhere. I hate this stinking place, gives me the creeps"

He barely gave the Wraith's enough time to run back before he stated up the thrusters again, blowing various pieces of debris at them. He delivered a handsign that was either a wave or a finger through one of the windows, before turning the ship around and disappearing out of sight.

"Boy am I glad to get off that ship. He was going to make me hurl" Ror cried out, kissing the ground below him.

"I think you're not the only one that thinks that. Let's make our way inside"

The hanger closed down into a single door leading into the main complex, albeit reasonably large. It had a retina scanner entryway, but someone had already taken the courtesy of breaking it so only brute force would get them through. it give way surprisingly easily however, needing only three of them to successfully get the doors moving. The moment one of them moved a millimetre, a light came on above it and the motor whirred into action, opening the doors fully, so that Wraith could admire the red carpets awaiting them.

This red carpet however was half way up the walls, and splattered across the ceiling. To either side lay bodies, at least four or five but probably many more. They were all ripped and torn to pieces to beyond recognition, their faces were completely destroyed. An arm and the occasional leg was still seeping blood onto the floors, although whether they belonged to one of those bodies or another was hard to tell.

"Make sure you've all got a full cartridge, and have weapons ready." Kanderin gulped, before calling Leon over to one of the more intact bodies. "This sounds like a stupid question, but have you noticed anything odd about these bodies?"

"Apart from the fact they've been ripped to shreds?" He replied.

"Well yeah, but take a look into the chest"

"Oh right, the fact all the organs are missing?"

"You're getting there" Kand responded, opening up one of the med packs.

"Are those what I think they are?" Leon gasped.

"Bite marks" Kanderin nodded, running a scalpel down one of the large jagged wounds in the torso.

"So these guys were eaten?"

"Looks like it. Let's try and keep it a secret though, I dont want to be spooking these guys even more than they are right now. Just keep your guard up"

OOC:
Alright, we're inside. Go crazy on what you find, more bodies, more mangled rooms, whatever. I just dont want any monsters or the like popping up just yet, that's coming a little later.

Oh and, if anyone has any problems with what I'm asking them to do, get in touch with me. Im experimenting with a slightly different writing style to what I normally use, for the sake of improvement. Any comments on it would be welcome

Helena tip toed carefully around the building, and kept her arms stuck to her body, making sure she didn’t touch anything. The occasional ‘eww’ would escape her lips if she touched a wall accidently or put her whole foot on the ground. As she looked around, the horrific sight of bodies lay overlapping each other in heaps. Blood was splattered onto the walls and drips of something oozy looking hung from the ceiling.

“Eww eww eww!” She shrieked.

“What now, Helena?” Kand spun round on one foot, holding the scalpel behind his back, hoping she didn’t see anything.

“Nothing, just, did we have to come here? I mean, this places is gross” she scrunched her nose up in disgust.

Leon managed to quietly sneak behind her and grab her by the waist. Helena’s body almost went into shut down mode, it took her by surprise.

“Leon you fucking idiot, do you seriously want my foot up your ass?!” She breathed heavily.

“No, I’d like something else” He winked back cheekily.

Helena grunted and pushed past him violently, making her way into another room.

The room was just like a murder scene. Desks had been upturned, chairs flung and broken against the floor, ornaments shattered against walls, and glass everywhere. The most shocking of all were the bodies just lying there, lifeless and cold.

Helena’s mind went into flashback mode and she thought about the coffee shop. The bodies that were being collected by family members…

She shuddered at the thought and then froze.

A cold chill went down the back of RK’s spine as his foot went through the hole in the center of the nearest body’s chest. What was left of it made a splat, followed by a quick pop sound as he lifted his foot; making him quickly turn around and fire a few shots into the body, just to make sure it was actually dead, even if he knew it was.

“I don’t think it’s going to fight back, RK” Leon said, shaking his head.

RK just grinned sheepishly, he knew that the thing was dead, but paranoia had taken over at that very moment; making the situation worse than it already was. Why he was on the edge he would never know, but something inside of him told him to turn around and get as far away from this place as possible.

“So you think there could be something else here with us?” Ror asked, a shudder in his voice.

“If you’re talking ghosts or vampires, I might have to slap you. Honestly, I don’t know what could have done this, but just keep your eyes peeled.” Kand ordered over the comm.

“There could be a better explanation, maybe this is just a dream, and maybe we are all sleeping right now. It’s around that holiday where all that spooky crap supposedly happens, so maybe our sub-conscious is making us have night mares.” RK spat the words out faster than he could think, which is probably why he got the dead stares like he did; even if he was being serious.

“Ummm, yea, that’s it.” Helena said; shaking the facial expression away.

Kand followed up with a sigh, and then began his walk towards the exit of the room. “Well, if your not crazy, scared or paranoid, follow me.” Without looking back Kand began his walk. Everyone followed promptly, raising their guns up to shoulder height, not knowing what they were going to run into.

“Well it looks like someone had fun,” Leon said aloud to Kanderin's remark about the bites.

“I'm not sure anything they could have told us in briefing could prepare us for this,” replied RK grimly.

Leon had to agree with RK, feeling slightly disgusted himself. Throughout his whole career in the Army, Leon had seen plenty of gruesome things, but this by far topped the charts. Who could have done such a thing? Or the better question was... What could have done such a thing? Whatever it was, Leon didn't think a couple of troopers with E-11's could handle it.

“So what now?” Leon asked.

Kanderin shrugged his shoulders. “We keep moving. Be on the lookout for any survivors. If you see anything suspicious, let me know.”

The squad quickly shuffled into a single file line, Leon taking the rear. He flicked his E-11's safety off, his finger running over the thin trigger frame, ready to blast anything that moved. Wraith squad slowly made their way to the end of the large reception room, being careful not to step on any bodies. They eventually found themselves in a narrow corridor, and even here there were trails of blood and mutilated corpses.

“They didn't tell me I'd be seeing this kind of shit when I re-enlisted,” Leon said, breaking the eerie silence.

“I don't think they told anyone we'd be seeing this. I'm gonna have so many nightmares after this...” replied RK, sounding non to enthusiastic. “What do you think could have done this?”

Leon decided to toy with his friend. “I might have a feint clue actually. Not to long ago, a patrol ship discovered a stranded vessel. The only source of life was its emergency beacon. The patrol ships crew were ordered to board the vessel and rescue anyone that was on board. They found a scene similar to this, only --”

“Can you stop it Leon? I don't think scary stories are appropriate right now,” Helena demanded.

Leon dismissed her and kept going. “So they kept exploring the vessel, and eventually found themselves at the command center of the ship. Upon entering the command center, a ghostly blue image emitted from the holoprojector. It was the ships captain.”

“Kanderin tell him to stop.” Helena cried.

“No no, I want to hear what happens.”

“The captain's clothes were torn to shreds, and he looked as if he'd been mauled by a rancor and spit back out... And then he spoke: 'Please, if you're listening to this message, get out now,' the captain cried. 'Everyone on this ship is dead, and I fear its also to late for me. It all happened so fast... These things came out of nowhere!!! At first we didn't know what was happening. Every day a crew member would go missing... Just disappear. My crew members started panicking, thinking it was one of our own.... Until that one day. We were having a meeting discussing the situation at hand, and then the alarm went off signaling something was wrong in the mess hall. We ran as fast as we could, hoping we could catch the culprit, and then they attacked...' The captain broke out in tears, his voice shaking madly. 'I don't know what they were but there were plenty of them! They had huge claws that could tear a man to shreds, and razor sharp teeth that could pierce through the thickest of metals. At that point it was every man for himself, and now I find myself here, all alone with those things waiting outside.' Spat the captain. He paused for a second, regaining his composure, wiping at the tears running down his face. 'Whoever you are, listening to this message, get out. Those things are still alive, somewhere on this ship. Hopefully its not to late for you, because I know it is for me. Farewell.' And then the captains image disappeared.”

“Oh I've got the creeps,” RK said.

“So the patrol crew kept exploring the vessel, and the they heard a shri--”

Wraith squad stopped as a loud piercing shriek broke Leon in mid sentence, causing the hair on all of their necks to stand up.

Kanderin gulped. “Please tell me you weren't going to say shriek.”

“Sorry Kanderin, but thats exactly what I was going to say.”

There were so many doorways open on either side of the hallway, it was virtually impossible to tell which one the cry had emerged from. Wraith simply sprinted through, hurdling the bodies littering the floors in a vain attempt to realise where they were going. A door with the number '206A' was broken off one of it's hinges, barely clinging onto it's metal frame. Typically, a loud thud emerged from the creepiest looking door they'd met.

"Weapons loaded Wraith" Kanderin whispered. "Myself and RK will sit on both sides of the door, and on my call Leon will break the door down. I'll be first in, RK back me up. Everyone else follow"

He looked back briefly to confirm the nod's, and crouched against the metal hinge of the door. There was a trail of blood working it's way down from the top, although it was getting to the point where he had already predicted something like it would happen. RK sat at the other side of the door and gave him a thumb's up, which Kand relayed to Leon. He took a large gasp of air and lunged forward, planting a solid kick on the remaining hinge of the door and sending it hurling through the room, landing on the ground two or three feet forward of it's frame. Kand was inside the room before it hit the ground, RK a few milliseconds later. A blaster round bounced off the shoulder plate of Kanderin from somewhere behind him, but he managed to dive away quick enough to avoid fatal damage.

Helena had already taken control when Kand got back to his feet, having already had the man with the blaster subdued on the ground. She had to nearly break his arm before he dropped the blaster, and was pressing her knee down hard into his spine.

"Please...get off..me" The man struggled.

"You just tried to kill one of us! What the hell makes you think I'm going to let you go anytime soon!" She shouted into his ear.

"I thought you were one of them, I'm sorry!"

Helena paused, looking up at Kand for a decision on what to do. He nodded and she rolled off of the man, but made sure to take the blaster away from him.

"I'm Platoon Sergeant Kanderin Draken, Squad Leader of Wraith Squad, Army of the Vast Empire. We're on a reconnaissance mission to collect some things..what happened here?"

"Oh thank god, you're here to save us?" The man sighed, getting to his feet and running over to him.

"Not quite, we have some things to get first. So, want to tell me what happened?"

"You mean you don't know? The place is crawling with them.."

"With what?" Kanderin asked, somewhat sternly.

"The staff! They were killed...but then they got back up and started killing. I hid in here to avoid the massacre..." The man sobbed, collapsing to the ground.

"You mean we're dealing with zombies?" Leon asked, trying not to laugh.

"Now's not the time to be a smartass Leon" Helena snapped at him.

"We've seen the staff, but they're all dead. Littering the floor's outside" RK nodded, before turning and whispering in Kand's ear "The man's a psycho, sure we can trust him?"

"About those bodies Kand..." Helena stammered, backing away from the door. Kanderin sighed to himself and walked over to her, growing rapidly tired of the state they were in. He didn't believe in any of this crap. It was possible some drugs in testing had driven someone on a mass murdering rampage, they had some records of the drugs on trial and that was one of the side effects. But zombies eating the staff and running wild around the place, it was getting a little bit ridiculous.

Blood still sat in puddles all over the hallway, the same way they had left it. The problem was, the bodies had gone missing.

OOC:
There, we're into the main bulk of the story. Apologies for the slowness of the story as of late, but me and Helena will both aim to post once a day, that should speed thing's up a little. Feel free to meet rampaging hordes of zombies from now on

The medical ward on which the incident first broke out is currently under lockdown, this is the suburbs of the complex. We'll be heading into the main area soon, where thing's are planned to get far, far worse.

Helena at this point was hyperventilating; her body had gone into a shut down mode as she backed herself into the wall closest to her. She noticed the wall was damp and sticky. The substance seemed to have a slight green tinge to it. As noticing this, Helena leaped forward, shaking herself and spinning round, making sure she hadn’t touched it.

“Kand! Have I got anything on me?!” She panicked.

“Don’t be so stupid” he sternly replied, yanking her round close to him.

“Now shut up” he held his hand up to her mouth, making sure her heavy breathing didn’t disturb anything.

The group decided to move themselves, making sure they weren’t to be found in one place. With moving, Leon froze. His eyes lit up and he began shaking.

He had caught a glimpse of one; it seemed to be sniffing some clothes on the floor before travelling at light speed to the edge of the corridor. It had a pale blue tint to its skin, and from what Leon could see, its eyes would glow a red, and when it was charging it would change to the brightest green you have ever seen. Its facial features seemed to be deformed into its face. As if it was burnt into the skin. The teeth were pointed and sharp, designed to pierce and slice the top layer of someone’s skin. The most disturbing of all was the fact it had a huge hole in its chest, so big and airy that you could still see the heart beating.

Helena gulped quite loudly accidently. Along with that, came the highest pitched shriek you had ever heard. Funny thing was it didn’t come from any of the squad members. The next one did however, as what ever caused the first, knocked Ror to the ground. Helena spun around, just in time to see Kanderin fire thee rounds into the female staff member trying to claw at Ror’s face. It shrieked again as it collapsed against one of the walls, where the rest of the squad also began shooting it, collapsing it into a helpless bloody pulp.

“What the hell was that!” Ror shouted, jumping to his feet and slapping his clothes.

“Look’s like you got an admirer” Leon smirked.

“Not funny”

RK's breathing had slowed considerably, and his heart had begun to pound beyond what seemed physically possible, which in turn made his whole body feel warm and tingle at the same time. Never had he been one to believe in the superstitions of ghosts, or the living dead; he was one to believe in what he could see. Now, though, he wasn't so sure even seeing was believing. But RK couldn't deny the facts, even if he wanted to. After all they had just encountered one, so there was no way he should have doubts.

Clank. Ror was the first one to jump, followed by the rest of the squad. Something was beating on the walls, either that or something had fallen from the ceiling. Whatever happened they all were crouched down ready for what was to come.

“W-what was that?” Ror slowly asked, his voice not doing a good job at hiding his fears.

“Don't know, but I have a feeling something co—---ARGGGHH!” The scream came from Leon. Nobody even saw it coming, but it was there; beating Leon's head off the wall. RK was the nearest one to Leon's position, meaning he was the only one who was able to react fast enough. He started firing blindly, hoping that he wouldn't hit his squadmate. Luckily, the monster scampered off with blinding speed and dropped Leon before doing any more damage.

“Leon you alright?” Helena asked, who was already kneeling down to aid him.

“I'm fine, my head is buzzing a little bit though, luckily RK didn't hit me and that god forsaken thing wasn't able to bust open my helmet.”

“Alright, this place is infested, everyone keep your eyes open, and shoot first, just be careful. You know as well as I do this is just the calm before the storm.” Kanderin said, already heading forward.

Nobody replied for a while, that is until a smart Remark formed in RK's head: “Gun: one hundred imperial credits, armor: one-thousand imperial credits, getting eaten by a disgruntled mechanic, priceless. For everything else there is Wraiths squad.” Hope that what he had just said would shed some light on the situation; sadly, only a slight nervous laugh could be heard from a few of his squad mates. Still that was good enough for him.

The comlinks being dead could now be added to their list of problems. Kand had every member of the squad desperately trying to get some sort of link with command, or anyone outside the complex, but they couldn't get a thing. He was hoping they would get the confirmation to scrap the mission and run for their lives, however there was no such luck. He had to make the decision on his own shoulders.

"We're leaving everyone, right now" Kand shouted, marching back down the hallways. "I'm not risking our lives for some stupid documents, no matter how important"

"Here here!" RK gasped, running after Kand.

"Oh thankyou, thankyou!" The technician cried, collapsing to his knees in joy.

"On your feet stupid, we still have to make it out alive" Helena laughed, slapping him on the back as she walked past.

High Command might take him to the cleaners for the decision, but he would rather that than being eaten alive. The complexes medical facilities, where the 'incident' had happened was on the opposite side from where they were. And logically the densities of the infected people was decreasing the further away you got, to the point that the entrance corridors were virtually clear. The occasional infected individual would appear in front, but they were no match for the combined firepower of the Wraiths. Especially since they were now watching all sides, expecting to be crept up on.

The airlock leading them back out to the hanger eventually came into view. There was probably no ship on the other side waiting for them, but they were hoping they would get a better signal there and be able to hail their pilot. That and the fact they knew the hanger area was clear, making them feel a lot safer even if they were stranded.

They couldn't help thinking something was wrong with the door however, but it didn't stop Kand from punching information into the control panel. It however refused to respond, everytime demanding a password. He attempted three different entries, before it became clear to him - He hadn't don't this on the way in. The door was broken, and they had opened it by brute force. The door had been fixed, and password locked. They were trapped.

Kand was throwing punches and kicking at the door, seeing if there was a weak spot so he could open it that way. After a few brutal kicks, he decided there in fact was no weak spot in the door, which was odd. The squad were busy chatting to themselves and getting hyped up about leaving the eerie place. Helena noticed Kand having some trouble and quietly snuck away from the rest and placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to reassure him.

“Is everything okay Kand?” she responded calmly, trying not to show concern.

“Y-Yeah, everything’s fine, we’re just… Locked in” he panted.

The whole squad spun round and a moment of silence swept across them before panic soon kicked into their bodies.

“You said that a bit loud Kand, well done” Helena face palmed.

RK and Leon were bickering at each other, grabbing at each others throats and shouting in each other’s faces.

“It’s your bloody fault!”

“How is it my fault?!”

“It just is!”

“Calm down the pair of you!” Helena counter argued, throwing Leon to the floor.

“I’m sure Kand is going to get us out of here. I’m sure he has a plan up his sleeve, just give him some time, or is that too hard for your little brains and do I have to throw one you to the ground again?” Helena’s face was going redder and redder as she carried on shouting at them. She hated showing her angry side, but if it had to be done, it had to be done.

“Ooo, Helena’s got her knickers in a twist” Leon replied, peeling himself up from the ground.

“Don’t EVER say that again Leon…” RK replied, giggling.

“Guy’s, I hate to break up this amusing argument but uh…” Kand stuttered.

The three turned round very slowly to face whatever Kand was pointing at. Kanderin’s complexion turned white.

“Oh my god…” Helena breathed.

The zombies had caught someone. One of the surviving science staff had made a break to join up with the Wraiths, but a little too much noise had caused him to attract the attention of four of five of his old friends. He'd gotten less than five paces before he was pounced on, having a large section of his neck bitten away before he hit the ground. A few seconds later another one of them managed to rip through his ribcage and started to eat away at the organs inside, at which point Kanderin stopped watching.

"Let's get out of here before they spot us" Kanderin called, as quietly as possible. Everyone around him nodded, until a shrill cry from somewhere behind them caught everyone's attention. it caused the feasting creatures to also look up, admiring Wraith Squad for only milliseconds before charging towards them.

Helena unsurprisingly was the first one off the mark, nearly leaving her weapon behind in the dash for the nearest safe hallway. The rest of the squad were quick to follow suit, hurdling the dead bodies as quickly as possible.

Four corners past by without anyone really knowing where they were going, the flesh eating humans behind them were putting too much pressure on them to actually to stop and think. What was worse was the fact they were actually being caught, the lack of any sort of brain power apart from simply wanting to catch their prey meant they could make progress far quicker.

The scream sounded off again, but this time supported by a round of blaster fire.

"Helena, someone needs our help over there" Kanderin called back.

"We aren't exactly comfortable here ourselves, if you haven't noticed!" She panted.

"Exactly, so I'll play decoy. At the next junction you take the squad right, I'll go solo left. Im hoping they'll see me as the easier prey then and focus on me. You guys go help whatever the hell is over there"

"Christ you have balls!" Kand heard Leon shout from somewhere behind him.

"Just shut up and do as you're told" Helena shouted back.

"Aye aye captain"

RK wanted to know whether or not this whole experience had messed with Kand's decision making, after all suicide was never something he had suggested, but now he was doing just that. He couldn't blame him though, they were trapped and they needed time.

“Alright, we are almost at the pass, get ready.” Kand said, his voice confident.

“Understood, are you sure you want to do this Kand?” Helena asked.

Kand didn't reply though, they were already at the pass. The rest of wraith's had already broken off from Kand, and were running towards whatever the screaming voice was; RK though didn't want to go towards it, he had a feeling that it was a trap.

“Guys, I don't like this idea, it's probably a trap.” RK bluntly said, realizing his mistake.

“that's a risk were going to have to take; if we go back, and god forbid, Kand dies, his sacrifice would be in vein. So we're going to pre.... Raise your rifles, the scream stopped.” Helena said. RK noticed it as well, raising his rifle before Helena had even ordered it.

They continued their trek, not knowing what they were going to run into, but t whatever it was it couldn't be good; and the room that they kept getting closer to wasn't welcoming them as much as they had probably hoped.

“I think, the scream was coming from in there.” Leon said, not know how he knew.

“Well, only one way to find out.” RK said, pushing forward and pressing a few numbers into the keypad. The door opened with a hiss.

The room was like a horror movie. Helena closed her eyes tight. She didn’t want to open them, she of all people to be leading the squad towards the scream was the worst decision Kand had made. Apart from the whole suicide route he had just taken. Helena was the most scared of them all. Her heart was racing and every beat it took, she felt it as if the ground were shaking. She prayed in her head that when she opened her eyes Kand would be there, reassuring her everything would be okay, but her heart knew that that would never happen.

The room was covered in blood from the ceiling to the skirting boards. Every now and then, a drop of blood would drip to the floor from the ceiling. Bodies of staff members were arranged in a heap in the centre of the room. It was as if someone carefully placed them there. It wasn’t the work of zombies, it was far too neat.

“Leon, close the door please?”

“Yes boss” He nodded.

A quiet whispering between two people could be heard. Helena scrunched her face up; it wasn’t one of her squad members. If it was, it sounded like their balls had either dropped, or they had none.

Helena raised her rifle.

“Who’s there?!”

Not a sound was heard after that. Helena ordered Leon and RK to search the room. She wasn’t taking any chances. It was a fairly big room, a room that would have been used as a meeting room, it had a long table, but a blood soaked cloth was covering it.

“RK, take the cloth off please, but be careful”

RK was shaking; Helena could see that as he slowly uncovered the table. Both Helena and Leon had their rifles locked on the table; they were taking no chances for zombies to attack.

Under the table were two men, both quivering and huddled together for safety.

“Please don’t shoot!”

“Yeah, we’re one of you!”

“Names! The pair of you!” Helena ordered.

They both clambered to their feet nervously and stood to attention, saluting in unison.

“I’m Private First Class Antos, and this here is Corporal Anival. We got trapped here after being sent here to find a Squad. What were their names again?”

“Wraith I think or something along those lines. The boss sent us to join you, but we kind of got locked into this room after we got chased” Anival stuttered.

“Papers both of you?” Helena sighed.

They both dug around their pockets before pulling out tattered old pieces of paper containing all their details. Helena read them then sternly nodded.

“You’re clean. Right now I don’t have time for meet and greets. We need to find help urgently. One of our beloved members has sacrificed themselves for us and I don’t think he has much time left” She wiped a tear from her eye as Leon placed a hand on her shoulder.

Helena’s stomach turned, she had a bad feeling about something that was going to happen in the VERY near future…

“You’re clean. Right now I don’t have time for meet and greets. We need to find help urgently. One of our beloved members has sacrificed themselves for us and I don’t think he has much time left”  She wiped something  from her eye, Anival noticed as Leon placed a hand on her shoulder.

Weird thought Anival this squad seemed chummy, the most affection Iron Horse had shown each other was a pat on the back, or maybe a nod of encouragement, but the strain on the situation might have something to do with it.

Anival got up and helped the other guy with him up, they had already gotten to close, which Anival had let happen, he was a little scared to, the closest thing to zombies he had ever gotten to was the super soldiers, back when Alan had been SL.  He brushed him self off and said “Ready, mam.”

They had all exited the room when Anival spotted something from the corner of his eye, it seemed like a Vornskr, but only bipedal, he quickly turned around  to see who it was, it wasn’t who it was, as much as what it was. He recognized it as he and  Antos had been running away from them for quite some time.

He leveled hi rifle but not fast enough the creature pounced and would have taken a chunk out of him if it hadn’t hit his rifle, the rifle somehow was lodged in the zombies chest the zombie just tried to claw at him, he took out a vibro blade and lodged it underneath the zombies eye.

It still went on for a while then stopped, Anival took the weapon out of the body, as he took it out, it started shaking, Anival shot at it until it was barely  recognizable. He looked at the squad and they just stared at him. “Now lets go see about Kand” said Helena  as they leveled their rifles, and moved out”

“Has anyone else noticed that the lighting is starting to deteriorate?” Anival asked; holding his rifle up, blood from the zombie he had just killed still dripping off of it slightly.

“I think your just seeing things or.....” Leon paused, his face turning into a slow dead panned stare, “...... or we are about to go into a Jet black hallway.” His voice trembling with a slight touch of fear; after all if it wasn't for their past experiences it would have just been another hall.

“I'm guessing there is no way around it, like somewhere we can see what's going to grab us.” Antos asked.

RK wasn't even paying attention to their rants, he was already digging into right pocket for an object he didn't think he was going to have to use; his flashlight. He pulled it out and attached it to the side of his helmet that he had upgraded for this very type of situation. After he checked to make sure it was in place; he grabbed for a thin tube from his utility belt and attached it to the end of his CR-2, as soon as he turned it on a thin red line sprayed out of the tube, creating a fine dot where ever it was pointed. “So are we just going to stand their and delay the inevitable?” He finally spoke, after getting his preparations done.

“RK's right, but we don't have much time, if you have a flashlight turn it on, if not get behind someone who does, and keep alert. Let's move.” Helena said, her rifle aimed up and the light on it turned up as bright as it would go.

RK was the first one into the abyss, but it didn't bother him after all he was once a bounty hunter, this was just one of those things that didn't bother him; even if the thought of the living dead still scared him.

After a while they were completely surrounded by the darkness, the only form of seeing was white patches here and there from the three flashlights they had available. Which even then didn't do much justice.

“does nayone else get the feeling this is a really bad idea?” Anival asked.

“Yea, but it's our only option at the moment.”

“Hey does anyone else notice this?” RK asked, pointing at the broken light hanging from the ceiling.

“What?” Leon asked, sounding annoyed.

“It was punched open, there's blood around the edge's of the bulb and the glass protecting it.”

“So this was... set up?” Antos asked.

“No time to worry, we have to keep moving.” Helena said.

Something wasn't right though, why was it this hall was the only one that was darkened. Something didn't sit well in RK's mind, and the restless thoughts began.

“does anyone else get the feeling this is a really bad idea?” Anival asked, he felt a chill go down his spine.

“Yea, but it's our only option at the moment.”

“What?” Leon asked.

“It was punched open, there's blood around the edge's of the bulb and the glass protecting it.”  Anival looked up and noticed the same thing.

“So this was... set up?” Antos asked, Anival was thinking the same thing, he was about to say something when Helena spoke. “No time to worry, we have to keep moving.”

They made their way forward through the dark corridor, something flashed in front of one of their light beams, and disappeared, Anival was about to say something , but held his tongue it could be his eyes were playing tricks on him. They moved in silence for what seemed like eternity, Anival constantly expected an attack, he was always poised and ready to react.

“Relax” said RK as Anival jumped, the squad gave a stretched laugh. “Anival, just because there are zombies out their doesn’t mean they only want to eat YOU”

“Yea” said Anival “sorry for being so selfish” the squad laughed, and there were sighs as they saw light, all be it a little bit of light a ways off, there hopes were heightened.

“Up ahead” said Anival as he leveled his rifle, he wasn’t taking any chances. Anival gave Antos a little nod, and they moved on, they were about ten meters from the end of the corridor where the light could be seen, when a single zombie jumped up and attacked them, it was quickly shredded by the squads bolts.

“Just one?” asked RK skeptically.

“Appears so” said Leon

Anival wasn’t convinced RK had been right something was off, and this smelled of a trap, either the zombies were really smart, or they were really stupid, It seemed it might have been a bit of both.

Antos continued to follow them with a fast pace. Antos felt a tap on his back and he turned around aiming at the air. He noticed something move around in a few piles of crates. He took his flashlight from his holster and attached it to his helmant. He observed the area where he saw the "thing" moved. He walked back to his squad when Helena called him back. Antos looked around everywhere while they were walking. He was very nervous about all the zombies. He saw another thing past by them and tapped Helena on her back.

"Did you see that?"

"See what?" Helena Said.

"That thing that passed by us." Antos said nervously

"You must be imaging things Antos." RK said

"Your right."

Antos had his rifle up high aiming at anything that would move. Antos felt a tap on his back. He turned and aimed at the air that tapped him. He took a few seconds to look around the area and then caught up with the squad.

The whole station was a living trap, every corner was just another trip wire; and they were going to have to either get off the thing, or fight back. However, if they set off the wrong trap, it would all be over, and RK knew that the trap was waiting for them at any corner.

“Alright, a whole patch of darkness, then light, doesn't make much sense if they were planning a surprise attack.” Antos said.

“Maybe they were planning something but they didn't get the chance to finish it.” Leon said.

“Still I can't help but feel we just started the beginning of a complex spring loaded trap.” RK said, his pistol raised high, the laser light turned off.

“All we can do is keep our eyes peeled, like we should be doing instead of talking about the fact the zombies might have a high IQ.” Anival said, trying to act professional.

“Yea, but if we can figure out what's the hell went on here, and what the hell is going on, maybe we can out think them.” RK snapped, trying to keep himself in control.

“Let's all just keep our cool, remember our first objective is to find Kand.” Helena interrupted, realizing if she hadn't then her squad would have gotten into an internal quarrel, and if that happened their chances of survival would have dropped.

The walk through the rest of the corridor was silent, save the few sounds of metal being beat upon, or the shrill cry of one of the creatures that they were trying to avoid. A silent thought crept into RK's mind as another cry came; how many were there?, Were their any survivors other than those they had run into?. The answers were beyond his reach, but they didn't matter, but at the same time it's all he could think about.

“How much farther till we find Kand's estimated location?” Leon piped up, breaking RK's thoughts and the silence.

“A few more corridors and maybe.... What the?!” Helena said screaming out, only Leon's quick thinking did he muffle her voice from anyone hearing them.

The scene before them was an impossible site, something that could only be dreamed, or for that matter only happen in a nightmare; five of the zombies were picking away at two bodies, blood dripping from their mouths; red spots blotching their pale blue skin. Hearts clutched in their hands, along with other various internal organs of the bodies. Whoever the former people were, they had met an untimely death.

“Walk away slowly, they are too interested in their prey.” RK said, taking one step backwards. but before he knew it he was on the ground and a vortex of deafening sound had filled the hallway from his impact; instantly getting the attention of the former cannibals. Now their crimson orange eyes glared them down, then without warning they struck.

OOC:
just to let you know, I didn't know how to describe in detail red/orange eyes, so I jsut said crimson orange, if anyone thinks that is weird. Talk to my lawyer.

Antos starred at the cannibals through his helmant. One of the cannibals lunged at Antos managing to bite his shoulder. Antos pulled off the cannibal and fired at it. He successfully killed it and held onto his wound that started to bleed.

"Gah! This isn't what I signed up for!"

"Shut up and shoot!" RK said quickly and started to fire his weapon

The squad started to fire at the cannibals that tried to attack them. Helena bumped into a door and signaled them to come. They took their last shots before they ran into the door and they barricaded it.

"Are you gonna be alright?" Anival asked

"Yea, I'll live."

Leon stood pale skinned signaling for the squad to look. They all looked at what Leon was pointing to. The wall was smeared with blood saying: "HELP ME!"

The worry filling Helena’s head was unbearable. She was physically shaking and her skin had turned blotchy. In her head the words of ‘Please don’t let it be Kand’ spun round and round, spiralling, almost so much so she felt dizzy. She shook her head out of the state and ordered the squad to stop fooling around.

She quickly scouted the room and ordered Leon to close the door. She then rummaged into her med pack and pulled out bacta wipes and pads, along with anti bacterial liquid. She ripped part of her shirt and plunged some liquid onto it. She then began to rub it into Antos’ arm. After hearing him squirm like a girl, she placed the bacta wipes and pads on it. She then tied the cloth to it to hold them in place.

“Stop being a girl and toughen up” she sympathised.

He nodded as a tear of agony dripped from his tear duct and RK giggled quietly to him.

“RK, you know you’re the ‘big trooper’ of the group, go out the door and keep watch”

The shock on his face made the squad smirk.

“Me? Are you sure now?”

“No, the other RK in the corner…” Helena sighed.

“Well that’s okay then, for a minute there I thought you meant m-“

“Of course I meant you! Now get the hell out there!” She snapped.

The pressure was obviously getting to her and the squad could tell.
