The operation was now coming together easily.  The first few days Riqimo practically had a jigsaw puzzle dumped upon him, but now with a majority of the pieces in place, everything was going smoothly.  It has been three local days since the last actual operation at the sensor station, and since then only minor skirmishes took place as they tracked intel to the city of Rieus.

Riqimo was now in his mobile command base parked in some community college area.  He personally oversaw the fortifications of this area, as this city was apparently the base of operations for the Delta Ohms. Any presence of the Vast Imperial Stormtrooper Corps was most likely already out and the resistance group was preparing for some sort of attack to push out the people that “repressed” them.  Riq chuckled at the propaganda poster for Delta Ohm he had torn down off one of the community college bulletin boards.  He would certainly turn around the Delta Ohm image today with some tricky maneuvering.

To harm innocent civilians was not exactly a manner to consider conventional, and thus Riq frowned when he caught himself cheery at the thought.  Of all the tactics, blowing up a hospital was near unthinkable... or was for Riqimo.  It was a long leap from pacifism to total warfare, and somehow Riqimo was driven to it in this case.  It was a justifiable sacrifice, at least that's what everyone who actually knew about it told Riq.

In the end, the Empire will win, and none of the blame will fall to them.  Riqimo sighed, although he may blame himself, he won't be brought to trial over this in public at least.  His reputation would be intact.  His honor on the other hand had already taken a low blow from approving the operations, and he was going to have to make up for it somehow.

“What's the status of the squads?” Riqimo turned away from his makeshift desk of crates towards one of his support staff.

“Raiders is about to start out, they just geared up in their non-Imperial garb and layout.  Jester is halfway to Terval's location.  Blackjack and Wraiths just departed minutes ago.  Iron Horse are performing speeder checks before heading out.  Paladin just reported sewer entry.  All other support units are in position.”

“Excellent,” Riqimo nodded, “Keep me updated, I'm going to be up on the roof with my macrobinoculars, it's rather stuffy in here.”

"Status, Pallies!"

"Nothing here so far, you sure there are suppsoed to be people in here other than us?"

"Yes."

"Don't see anything yet"

"Keep an eye out for them. I know they're here somewhere."

She hated this place already, the stench was so bad she could barely breathe.

"Boy, what do those people eat?' asked Alan who was further up ahead on her right.

Laughing softly, she fell silent as they trudges on in the sewage, they were waist deep in the stuff, she wondered if it would flood someday and in how many years or months if they kept going like this.

Low sewer passageways lined the main duct as they advanced, she suddenly heard a rather loud splashing sound as  they kept going.

"Everyone, stop what you're doing."

The squad stopped moving but the splash was heard again, it sounded like someone was doing something off to her left. But there's only us and the Delta Ohms in here...

A blaster bolt suddenly shot in between Alan and herself and she quickly aimed her rifle which she was carrying in the direction where the firing came from, powering up the torch situated on top of the scope of her rifle.

there were five men aiming their weapons at them, without hesitation she fired a shot at the one closest to her and everyone else took care of their own target. A minute later, it was all over.

"Five down, twenty to go" she muttered to herself as they scanned the surrounding area meticulously before moving on slowly.

Giovanni sat by and watched his more able troopers perform checks on the speeders. Sure, he had some experience as a combat engineer, but he admitted that when it came to speeders or swoop bikes he wasn't exactly the most qualified person to run repairs or check for malfunctions.

His failed attempts at swoop bike modification back on Coruscant were still fresh on his mind.

He looked over at Hayes, who was diligently running through the check-list on his datapad. He seemed at least a little more comfortable in his task.

"How are the troops?" The Iron Horse squad leader asked his assistant gingerly. Hayes had, at times, become the eyes and ears of his squad when Giovanni was busy. He depended on his feedback and used it to better run his squad. "Anxious as always. They're ready to fight. Especially the new guy...Sratchet i think is his name."

Ahh yes, Sratchet, Giovanni thought. He had heard the name. Apparently the young man had garnered much attention on his quick trip through the Academy. He came highly recommended by Rizzit Blackheart, and Giovanni took the man's word quite seriously.

"Well, that's good to hear. We have intel on the location of the weapons cache. Make sure the men are ready to roll out in 30 standard minutes."

With that, Giovanni and Hayes exchanged salutes and the two men hurried to check their equipment and steel themselves for the task at hand.

Entering the sewers, Alan immediately wrinkled his nose.  Why on earth did Paladin get stuck with this shit assignment thought Alan as he dropped into the sewers, wading through, well he didn’t even want to know what it was he was wading through.  He chuckled inwardly to himself as he thought of what was going through his head shit being the word of the word.

“Boy, what do these people eat?” asked Alan.  He smiled as he heard Lucky chucking softly behind him.  He hadn’t intended for it to be funny but was glad to have lightened the mood.

“Everyone, stop what you’re doing” called out Lucky.

Alan immediately halted and brought his trusty DL-44 heavy blaster pistol out.  He couldn’t see anything ahead of him but he trusted Lucky’s keen instincts as it had never let the squad down yet.  Her instincts were bang on when a blaster bolt arched towards Alan, barely missing him.  Son on a bitch he cursed inwardly as he immediately sought cover.

Soon Alan could make out five men advancing towards them.  Lucky had already dropped one of the enemies.  Bringing his blaster to bear, he took careful aim and fired.  His shot cut through the forehead of the nearest enemy and a large splatter of blood was splashed over the wall as the man dropped into the sewage, his body floating as the sewage around him started turning a reddish colour.

Alan glanced around and was slightly disappointed to find that the rest of the enemy were dead.  This squad is certainly a good squad he thought to himself.

Alan heard Lucky muttering to herself and Alan wondered what was going through her mind.  He holstered his weapon and started to advance once more, his hand never leaving his side as he was ready to bring it to bear should anyone else approach them.

When they were told they would be moving in the strikebreaker an air of excitement hung around the squad. When they came up to the vehicle they practically ran to the climb inside like excited children. Orobos couldn't blame them. It did have a fair amount of fire power and didn't sacrifice and maneuverability for it.

Flying now relatively low they sped through the city. Most of the inhabitants seemed to have fled for the safety of indoors when they saw the stormtroopers bearing down on their city. Probably the thoughts of what had happened when the empire had been under the rule of the emperor. Anybody they did see walking in the street moved in groups and quickly as thought frightened to be caught alone.

They couldn't see anybody who looked like they might be carrying a weapon. They sped around towards the center of the city. There were a few stragglers but not many. They scattered as the strikbreaker moved over them. They came back around for another pass just to make sure. There was nothing. Not even any birds.

"Alright, can't see anything here. Might as well go and check out the outpost," Tanus informed them and the speeder took a long loop around to the right and of down a wide road.

The place gave a more run down, sub-urban feel the further they flew out of the city centre. The building here were more dis-sheveled and the inhabitants more aggressive, those they saw anyway. They made rude gestures up towards the imperial vehicle, some of them even through stones not that it would have any effect but the fact that the citizens here had been turned so far against the Imperials showed there was definitely some sort of Delta Ohm presence here.

"Here we go," Tanus said bringing the strikbreaker around a block of abandoned apartments which stood higher then any other one of the surrounding buildings.

"Lights on lets see if anybody's home."

They could see on the far side of the building there were several windows with faint traces of light shone out of. Shadows could be seen on the walls as people inside walked passed the source of light. The strikbreaker moved in.

After his squad leader left Liam bent over his speeder, absently tightening a bolt that really didn’t need to be tightened. Liam told himself that he had to do a mechanical check on the speeder to make sure the mechanics hadn’t screwed anything up, but in all honesty it was a useless gesture. The Vast Empire mechanics didn’t screw up, and the bike was in perfect condition. Still, Liam felt the need to continue through with the ritual of vehicle examination, and so he went through the motions, pretending to check all the bolts, exposed wires, moving parts, the computer systems, the power and fuel levels….everything Liam could check with his mediocre mechanical ability got checked. As expected, he found nothing.

When Liam was done he sat back, watching the other squad members check there own equipment. It was obvious to him who was new and who wasn’t. The newbies went over their bikes carefully with a fine-tooth comb, making sure nothing was wrong and that the bike would function at 100%. They hadn’t yet learned to trust the mechanics.

Yet even those soldiers who did trust the mechanics went through the motions, at the very least. Liam figured this behavior was more for the soldiers’ own piece of mind than any real mechanical reason, but he wasn’t about to argue. Every soldier had his or her own rituals before battle. Who was he to interrupt such things?

Shaking his head and clearing his thoughts Hayes patted his speeder before moving off to find some ammunition for his SH9 silenced slugthrower. He was running a tad low, and for this operation in an urban environment he figured the weapon would come in handy. It was short, easy to handle, had good accuracy and stopping power, and an impressive rate of fire. It fired medium caliber rounds reinforced with a cortosis tip to maximize armor penetration. It was expensive to fire, but well worth it. There was no better weapon for close quarters combat.

As Liam quickly walked off to find a quartermaster, he couldn’t help but wonder at the ease of the mission so far. Something was bound to go terribly wrong. He just knew it.

Anival marveled at the speeder, he loved machines, better than live mounts. They couldn’t be trusted as much as machines. Anival wasn’t blind though he knew the advantages of a live mount, they actually cared for a rider, but they weren’t protected against blaster bolts, and the slightest thing could set them off.

Anival just looked at his speeder, and felt the thrill of taking the speeder for a test run, but Anival remembered the situation. He then went to ready his gear.

He checked his gear, he had his A280-armpr piercing heavy blaster,  and his T-6 heavy blaster.
Anival was careful to take extra clips.

He thought about taking more weapons but thought better of it. In a very likely case he might be running from someone trying to tear him apart, and he could definitely run faster with fewer weapons

Anival was full of adrenaline as the thought of what laid ahead  crept into his mind.

As Hayes walked into the room Anival nodded in acknowledgment. Then he leaned against a wall.  “How long till we move out?” asked Anival. “Bout 10 minutes” answered Hayes. “You ready?” asked Hayes with a toothy grin. “More than ready” answered Anival with an  equally flashy grin.

The smoke billowed out of Squall mouth as he exhaled, a cigarette tightly pressed within the crease of his lips.  The squad of six were still within the transport as the turbulence rocked the craft back and forth.  Each of them were eager to get on with the mission, but eagerness could get them killed.  This was a very serious hostage situation, which only meant that the squad needed to be at the top of their game to make the mission a success.

Squall glanced over towards Angel to see that he was resting easy towards the front of the Hover Van.  Almost simultaneously as Squall thought about it, Angel reached over to the pilot to ask him something.

"Whats our ETA?" asked Angel.

The pilot noted some things before responding. "Fifteen minutes, possibly a bit more.  This old piece of junk doesn't run like she used to."

The man adjusted the throttle and yoke as they began to round a building towards one of the main roads in the city.  Squall hadn't been working with the Vast Empire Stormtrooper Corps in some time, and he could tell that things were very different.  He had been placed in a squad that had never been active during his time, and also with troopers that he barely even knew.  Angel was the only member he had any real history with; being his first Squad Leader and companion throughout his time in the Corps.

If only I would have stayed around...I'd still probably be with the Dragoons blasting everything up in an AT-ST with Gio... Those were the days!

Brightstar sat beside Angel at the front of the transport, while Jori and Jager were sitting to the right of them, bickering about something completely off topic from the mission.  Squall could tell that they were still somewhat new to the corps, and that meant a possibility for struggle within the squad.  Squall hadn't worked with new recruits in some time, especially ones that seemed as though mindless to their priorities during such a critical mission.  Verkur sat across from Squall, having said nothing the entire time.

This should be interesting...

Wraith always seemed to get pushed to the side. Why everyone else was inside the city, blowing up buildings, they were stuck taking on some crummy resistance outside. Maybe it was because he was the new SL, they didn't know how well he could handle a large scale operation. Or maybe it was because Riqimo didn't like him. Kanderin sighed, it was probably the latter.

He grabbed his reins from the temporary paddock door and made his way around to Gizmo, who strangely enough seemed to be in an equally annoyed mood. Regardless, twenty minutes later,Kanderin emerged, battered and bruised but clutching the reins of Gizmo with pride.

"That'll teach the basterd not to mess with me" He snarled.

Helena, who was busy giving her Dewback a bath, simply shrugged and carried on with what she was doing.

Once everyone was ready, Kanderin led the Dewback's out towards the encampment. He had only been working with the mounts for a few weeks now, but already juggling the reins and far too many maps had become quite a simple task.

"We'll be leaving the mounts a half mile short of the encampment, and walking the rest of the way. This kind of battle wont suit them too good, so best to keep them out of harms way" He called back.

"On foot combat? Don't you think we'll a little out of practice?" Helena asked.

"Eh, we're about to find out" RK smiled, his Dewback actually behaving for the first time since training.

"Yeah but what if..."

"Helena, there's only thirty or so people there, that puts the ratio at less than four to one" Kand replied, stuffing the maps back into a side pocket.

"Your point is?" Helena called.

"That Wraith are well accustomed with dealing with ratios twice as dangerous"

They set the strikebreaker down on the street just outside the building complex to inspect the movement inside better. They dismounted with some grumbling from the squad all round having to leave the strikbreaker behind. Moving out on foot they crossed over to the shoulder hight wall the squad leaned up against it. They moved quickly in single file around the corner and up to the door. Alater shouldered through the thick wooden doors with ease.

They were in the dark building. A dank, slippery set of stairs led upwards around the walls of the building. Doors lined the stairs, most of the broken in a few still intact. A pile of broken doors rubbish and other assortment of items lay in a heap in the middle of the ground floor having been thrown down from above.

As they moved in spread out across the floor a bottle hurtled down and crashed on top of the pile. They moved forward and looked up but couldn't see anybody in the balconies above them. They moved towards the stairs and started to climb. The building was easily twenty stories high. The light spilling out of the shattered door above them lay somewhere on the twelfth floor.

They clacked as silently as they could up the stairwell weapons raised. Orobos had taken an electrified baton from the armoury when he heard they might be facing crowds. This had been before he'd known they'd be taking the strikebreaker. The baton now swung in it's loose holster hitting the shocktrooper armour rhythmically.

They finally came to the right floor. The doorway still had bits of wood hanging on the hinges. From inside they heard some drunken laughter and shambling around. They moved in quickly. There were some cries and yells but no real force came to meet them.

There were homeless men and women. Wrapped in rags and in almost every available space where there wasn't piles of rubbish. In the middle of the room. They moved in lowering their weapons. They fanned out. The people in the room still looked on in fear though something felt wrong. Hatred was in their eyes too.

"Alright seems that this report of a so called Delta Ohm outpost is a mistake. Let's get back to the strikbreaker."

"Really?" Orobos said standing over a tattered blanket,"Then what's this?" he said pulling back the rubbish and blanket in one sweep. A crate sat there with the words 'Danger: Explosives'.

The squad raised there weapons as several of the 'homeless" raised weapons ranging from lead pipes to slugthrowers. Orobos wiped out his baton switching it on he brought it swing around to smack one of his assailants in the jaw and sending him flying the other battered his armour with his wooden bat.

"Crap!"

Helena sighed, looking at Flora in the eye.

“Can’t work with them, can’t work without them eh lovely?” She gave Flora a quick heart warming smile before grabbing the reins and jumping on.

“Everyone all accounted for?” She didn’t even bother turning her head back to check.

She automatically assumed they were there and carried on checking maps and equipment. She placed her hand in her leg pocket, fiddling around for various items including a water pack, food pouch and flashlight. She was all set. She turned around to see the other squad members doing the same.

“Right! Onwards and upwards as they say!” She shouted.

“Who says that anymore?!” The whole squad replied in a fit of laughter.

“Oh pipe down will you?” She smirked, holding her hand to her face so nobody noticed.

“Ooo! A bit touchy are we today Helena?” Kand winked. Helena automatically ignored him, although she did giggle a bit.

Helena made her way to the front of the pack, reaching down to open the heavy paddock gates to head out. Flora seemed to be a bit on the frisky side, she charged out the gate. Helena only just managed to pull her up in time before hitting a tree. Helena knew she’d be in for some trouble on this mission.

Gates, on the other hand, never was a very good planner. He had no baton, just his E-11, pistol, and DC in fire support set-up. None of the weapons were great at point-blank.

Gates fired anyway, the brilliant blue stun bolts smashing into a tall man waving a slugthrower.

Then he smashed his fist into the chest of another, breaking a few ribs and hearing the crack muffled by the rags.

Two more of the 'homeless' jumped onto Gates' back, trying to rip something off, be it his helmet or his arm. One also had a knife, and the blade pinged off the toughened plastoid shock trooper armor.

He swung a vicious elbow at the one hanging off of his neck, and then stomped on the other one's hand. The audible crack of broken bones, the first's nose and the others three middle fingers, could be heard over the melee.

Gates swung a quick look around; Orobos and Alater, two huge soldiers, were taking on three or four apiece and smashing them to pieces.

Gates ducked to pick up his E-11, then abruptly stood, as he heard a door slam open.

"Ahh, hell!"

More people in rags poured in, trying to bury the highly-trained soldiers in bodies.

Zeshaun entered the sewers and his nose was filled with the smell similar to that of the lowest levels of Coruscant. Zeshaun had been there often enough to be used to the smell but it still wasn't pleasant.

"Boy what do these people eat?" Alan snorted. Zeshaun chuckled.

"Everyone, stop what you're doing" Lucky shouted. Zeshaun quickly flicked the safety switch on his standard issue rifle and aimed it toward where Lucky was looking.

A sudden bolt of energy nearly caught Alan and everyone ducked for cover. Lucky already had a kill and Alan was right behind her.

Zeshaun peeked around his cover and took aim at one of the 3 men standing there, one of his shots hit a man right in the stomach.

He ducked and barely dodged a blaster bolt. When he peeked back out he saw all the men were dead. He counted 5 total.

Zeshaun slung his rifle over his shoulder and put a grip on his vibroblade that he always carried with him.

The squad slowly advanced everyone ready for anyone to jump them form any direction.

He remembered from the briefing that they needed to clear the place of the 25 known unfriendlies plus any other unfriendlies that appear.

"That's 5 down only twenty more to go." Zeshaun took his hand off of his vibrobalde and back onto the grip of his blaster. He thought he feel some kind of energy coming from within the sewers.

The squad walked through the gunk and waste that was flowing through and followed the path. Zeshaun couldn't really remember if they told him where they were headed but he just followed the squad at the moment.

They had traveled a good distance from the starting point when they turned a corner and nearly ran into a group of men all carrying blaster carbines. Both groups were startled but Lucky recovered first.

"Move back! Take cover behind anything!" The squad quickly ran back behind the corner but was still peppered with shots.

The men came around the corner blasting away, not particularly aiming at anything. The squad quickly took care of them.

Lucky and Hassar hit one of the men simultaneously in the chest and he went flying back.

Alan snapped off a couple shots which hit one in the neck, the man collapsed grabbing at his neck.

Zeshaun stepped out and sprayed the tunnel with fire, he saw one man go down and the remaining one returned fire. Zeshaun dove for cover

His leg got caught up on something and he fell. Nova followed up on Zeshaun's shots and took the last man in the knee.

In total three men were dead and another very badly wounded. Zeshaun got up and looked down, his armor was covered in waste it was disgusting. that's nine down 16 more to go

OOC:
This was mostly typed Friday night and Saturday.  Comp issues prevented me from posting yesterday.  For continuity purposes this first part is prior to Orobos' 1st post; the latter half(+) is scrapped/rewritten to fit with my Squad's posts.

*then*

Tank drove the Strikebreaker down the street, approaching the 'vacant' business park.  According to intel, the abandoned office building was being used as a rebel outpost approximately 35 men strong.  Tanus didn't like it and most of the squad had learned to trust the Sergeant's instincts.  Command has a way of making things sound easy; truth is usually hard more often than not.

A muffled thud and a slight bump announced an antivehicle mine detonating under the Strikebreaker.  Although the weapon had failed to harm the heavily armored craft, it did alert the enemy to the Strikebreaker's presence.  Rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire erupted from several windows at once.  Tanus responded by giving the medium laser cannon a workout.  Gates chimed in with the grenade mortar turret as Tank returned fire with the repeating blaster turrets.  Sergeant Alater, Senior Sergeant Orobos and Lance Corporal Tnepres joined Tanus in the symphony of destruction, each manning a medium laser cannon.

Much sooner than the squad had expected, the building collapsed, falling in on itself it buried the extremists alive; if any survived.  Tanus took Alater and Orobos to circle east around the pile of rubble as Tank circled around on the west with Gates and Tnepres in the Strikebreaker.

Tank was glad he had a chance to work on the Strikebreaker since their last outing.  Tank had overhauled the engines to bring the vehicle's cruising speed up from 28kph to 30kph.  This also had the added benefit that the all-out maximum speed as upgraded from 80kph to 90kph.  Soon Tanus met up with and reentered the Strikebreaker.  Neither party found any survivors.

"On to the secondary outpost and stay sharp!" Tanus ordered.  Tank accelerated to 60kph as he navigated the city streets.  before long it was apparent to all the troopers they were in an economically struggling neighborhood....

*now*

Tank fought like a demon, alternating shots from his E-11/H rifle with bludgeoning and slashing foes as he fought his way to Garryll.  Skewering one of the 'bums' on his XV-7 vibrobayonet, he lifted the thug off Gates' back and sending him ballistically onto some of his buddies.  Not giving them a chance to recover Tank chucked a grenade into the pile before returning to Gates.  As Tank and Garryll fished clearing the way back to the Strikebreaker many thugs were ripped apart by the grenade's blast and shrapnel.

As Tank took the vehicle's controls Garryl dashed to the mortar's station; Gates enjoyed blasting their would-be assassins as the rest of his squadmates reboarded the Strikebreaker.  As they entered each manned a laser cannon.  The last man in, Tanus sealed the hatch before taking the blaster cannons' controls.

The Delta Ohm extremists were no match for the Strikebreaker as fire-linked lasers and grenades rained down upon them.  With no more live targets Tanus gave the order to move out; they still had to reach their main objective...

Angel did one last weapons check as the hover-van slammed to a halt a block from their destination. Having a bit more time to prepare this time around, he had managed to retrieve his sidearms from a supply shuttle which came down from the Dominion, and replenish the energy packs in his E-11/m. "Ok Jester, lets rock!" Angel called out, motioning for Verk to open the doors on the van.

The squad spilled out in standard cover formation, Brightstar taking the lead, followed by Jori, Jager, Squall and Verk, with Angel covering the rear. Jester made its way across the street from the office building in which their objective lay under heavy guard. As Angel reached the squad, he resumed his position at the head. "Ok people, lets do this right. The building is 40 stories tall, and we need to clear it floor by floor until we reach 36, which is where Terval is located. There are two stairwells on the east and west ends. We will split up into two fire teams: Bright will take Jori and Verk up the east stairwell, I will take Squall and Jager up the west."

Pulling the micro-bincos from his belt, Angel scanned the lobby of the building. "Assume there are civilians mixed in with Delta Ohm Forces. Remember, we are trying to keep stability on this planet, killing innocents will just cause more groups like Delta Ohm to form. Let's move out."

The squad split into its fireteams, and jogged low across the street. They were not even halfway across when blaster fire erupted from the floors above. Glass shards rained down on them from above as windows were shattered from the shots. Without hesitating, Angel kept his team moving forward until they were safely under cover of the buildings recessed lobby. Signalling Squall, they moved inside the building, finding two very attractive receptionists huddling in a corner.

"Any other day..." Angel heard Jager say behind him, "Any other day..."

TX, I dont care whether your computer is crashing or not, NO PLACEHOLDERS

About a mile short of their destination, was where their backup arrived. He remembered something mentioned in the meeting report about them showing up, but either his mood or his fatigue had caused him to forget. The mood however didn't last long, four squad leaders gathering around him, saluting and calling him 'Sir' did wonders for his ego.

"Hey" Kanderin asked, using his finger to aid his counting of the troopers. "Isn't your squad one member too many?"

"Yeah, we have a special delivery for you boss" The squad's leader replied, as the extra woman made her way through, pausing and saluting at Kanderin.

"Private Kyie reporting for duty Sir, fresh from Hellgate"

"Pleasure to have you trooper" Kanderin smiled. "Unfortunately this is a surprise, so I didn't bring you a Dewback. Just clamber on board mine, we're leaving them soon anyway"

Kyie nodded and took Kanderin's hand, allowing her to jump up onto the Dewback's back. As Kanderin looked back to see if he was safe to proceed, he saw Helena staring daggers towards them.

"Something wrong Hel?"

"Huh?" Helena looked up, suddenly looking embarrassed "Nothing. Let's move".

"Aye aye captain" Kanderin smiled. "Okay, one squad is to come with us, the others are to make their way towards the front of the encampment. We'll strike from the back exactly on the hour, we will be expecting you to strike five minutes later. Check your maps, I'll explain more via radio once we're close"

[ooc]Kand, give the guy  a  break.[/i[

Dante might have hated the storm commando armour, but he was actually starting to miss the infliltration gear now that he'd been forced into some kind of Delta Ohm bodysuit. The disguse came with a light chest plate, arm coverings, and a pathetic excuse for a helmet, but it wouldn't stand up to anywhere near the amount of abuse the RAIDERS rig could. The armour had obviously been designed with a smaller snetient in mind, and it chafed where it should have been loose and cut away circulation elswhere.

The discomfort almost was enough to make him forget about what he was about to do. When Snipes had given them the mission outline, he'd thought it was a joke until he'd taken a good look at his SL's helmetless face, which was deadly serious. Dante had thought about how many rules of engagement they were going to break, and had been about to protest before he thought better of it.

Dante knew that the days of honourable fighting, of "clean" warfare, had been over for a while. He just somehow hadn't expected to be pressed to take part in it himself. Whoever had said that enlightenment was the sweetest drug needed a few rounds pumped through their temple.

Dante pondered this as he made his way through the undergrowth. Up ahead was a large, blocky structure that had been identified as the hospital. Dante had to look down as he pushed towards it, not from an obstruction but from shame. As Snipes gave the order to advance, Dante wondered what his fate would be if he was caught, and if he would even resist it.

Helena eyes kept glaring back to the new kid. She hated the fact there was another girl on the squad. Helena loved being centre of attention, like she always was. She didn’t like being pushed aside. She was no longer the new member, this ‘kid’ was.

Helena snorted, scrunching her nose up at her, trying to not make it obvious to Kand.

“Right guys, let’s keep this moving please”

Helena rode up close behind Gizmo and touched Kyie on the back. The new recruit smiled at her, Helena smiled back.

“Just so you know I’m Sergeant Helena Leucine, the assistant leader of the squad. I’m very nice once you get to know me, but be warned, stay away from Kanderin, or you will see my nasty side” Helena whispered in her ear.

Helena shot her a quick smile before checking on the others.

Ror seemed to be having trouble with his Dewback, it seemed it missed its breakfast this morning and decided it wanted to chomp on the trees.

“Sit up and drive it forward for god’s sake!” Helena cried out behind her.

“I’m trying!”

“Don’t lie to me, your reins are like washing lines, now keep up. How’s it going RK, you keeping up okay?”

“Yeah! I think I’ve got the hang of this riding crap”

Helena giggled to herself, still glaring at Kyie, who now seemed to be a bit on the nervous side.

Ror fought with his dewback to keep it under control, to little success as his dewback was not liking this deal of missing breakfast. "Well its not my fault you missed eating this morning!" Ror whispered into the dewback's ear.

Ror looked over as Kand and the new girl meet, another new soldier huh. Wow this is going to be boring were going to destroy this encampment in a second, what is it like 50 to 40 in a surprise attack?

They rode on at a much slower pace so the already jogging regulars could keep up with them. Soon they were at the back and Kand got on the radio and started checking in on the other three squads to see if they were in position to attack. Once this was done we all dismounted our Dewbacks and moved into positions ourselves.

Ror was leading 2 men like the others into the encampment. Ror and his group were taking the extreme left flank and were to fight around the tents and link up with the extreme right flank of the regulars on the other side and push towards the center of the camp from there.

Ror took a deep breath as the Kand called for the charge and 50 men on both sides of the encampment sprung from their hiding spots and started firing wildly into the camp as they got closer.

Ror ran faster then the men he was with and quickly pulled a head of them as he fired his shots more accurately as well. Laughing Ror rolled as a burst of shots came his way and ended up behind a tent. "Get over here guys," he yelled looking for his two regulars. When he turned his head he stopped talking as one of the two laid on the ground with their face blown out and blood seeping everywhere.

Ror frowned and reloaded his gun with a fury of passion sweeping over him as he sprung out of the corner and shot a couple of bursts into a trio of men that had been shooting at them. Two of the men fell to the ground, dead or alive Ror didn't know.

“I didn’t do it, ok? I was never near you.” Jori said while trying not to take a swing, mainly because it would end badly for him if it connected.

They had been arguing for about ten minutes about something that had happened just prior to boarding the transport. Jager had bent over to pick up something and somebody had kicked him and knocked him over, causing him to hit his head on the floor hard. Later, someone had “mentioned” Jori being near Jager when it happened and Jager immediately jumped on Jori about it.

“If it wasn’t you, then who was it, huh? No one else was closer than you.” Jager argued.

“I’ve had enough. Just shut up.” Bright suddenly said, catching both of them by surprise.

Jori nodded, as did Jager, and stood up. He walked over to where Squall was and sat down.

“What’s up?” Jori asked.

“Nothing. I’m just sitting here as we all have for the past twenty minutes.” Squall said sarcastically.

Jori ignored it and continued.

“So, I gather you’ve been in the Army for a while.” Jori asked.

“Yeah. I… left for a while, but now I’m back. I gather you’re a relatively new trooper?” Squall replied.

“Yeah. I haven’t been here that long, so I guess you could say that.” Jori said, nodding.

Jori sat up and looked around at his other squad mates.

Angel looks like he is sleeping and Bright seems a bit too calm. Jager is probably still mad at me, judging by the way he keeps glancing over here. I wonder who told him that I did it. If I did do it, it wasn’t on purpose. Hmm… Verk hasn’t said a word, though that’s not unusual, and Squall is acting a little like Verk now, but not too much like Verk because we can still tell he is alive.

Jori grinned as Verk straightened up with a dazed look.

I guess he was asleep.

“Did you have a good nap?” Bright said with a smile.

“Yeah. As a matter of fact, I did.” Verk said, stretching.

Bright leaned over and asked the pilot the ETA.

“About two minutes. Its more or less a straight shot to your destination from here.” the pilot said.

Bright nodded and Jori started stretching in preparation for the departure. As the transport touched down, Verk opened the door and Jori shoot out after Bright. After making sure they were in a good spot, Angel split them up into two fire teams. As Angel and his two moved out, Jori followed Bright to a stairwell. One by one, they ascended.

His squad had all gathered in a circle around him. Giovanni felt his chest swell with pride at the sight of his men, all clad in white, all anxiously clutching the grips of their guns, all ready to end the lives of anyone who threatened the Empire.

"The bikes are ready for service, sir." The base technician looked around and OK'd the work done by the Iron Horse troopers.

"Good job guys. Unfortunately we wont be using these babies just yet..." He heard a few groans but ignored them and continued to brief his squad.

"We have received intel recovered earlier about the location of a Delta Ohm weapons cache in our vicinity. It is imperative that we capture this cache and sever the supply line to this part of the city. We have a chance to cripple Delta Ohm's operations in this sector. Let's show them what the Vast Empire is known for." The sound of his soldiers all patting their chest plates with their fists in unison let Giovanni know they were ready.

"The cache is in one of the basement floors of a now abandoned and dilapidated office building. We're expecting heavier resistance than usual, so we're being assisted by three other squads." Giovanni stood up and slung his rifle across his back.

"The building is less than 10 clicks away, but due to the urgency of the situation we'll be hitching a ride on an armored troop transport." Giovanni motioned to the old transport behind him. It was peppered with scorch marks and looked like it had seen a lot of action.

"Let's roll out."

The clank of boots on durasteel echoed as the squad made it's way up the stairs, rifles trained on the entrance. Somehow, Dante had ended up near the front along with Vox and Battlemont. Normally, it would have been a position he'd relish. This was a far from normal mission in many ways, though, and he would have given anything to have been reassigned. It wasn't the killing in general that upset Dante: he'd seen a lot of that both in and outside the Corps. It was the idea of killing innocents, loyal Vast  Imperial innocents, that grated in his throat and made him want to vomit more with each step he took.

After what seemed like an eternity, they reached the top of the stairs. Sniping 101 made a gesture, and Dante slowly stepped forwards with a roll of det tape. Before he could reach the gleaming portals, however, they slid open on the own. A thin, beak-nosed man wearing a tattered lab coat took in the group, and his eyes widened with surprise.

Choking back his nausea, Dante was raising his rifle to firing position when the man spoke. What the doctor said changed everything.

Grabbing Dante by the arm, he began to address the group.

"What took you so long?  Get inside ,you fools, before someone spots you!"

Dante found himself dragged into the building, and was aware of the other RAIDERS shuffling inside, confused into inaction.

"What happened to the other guys, anyway?'

It was a good thing the Doctor was facing away from the group, or he'd have seen their reaction. Dante almost gasped, but clenched his jaw. Thinking quickly, Sniping 101 intervened.

"They couldn't make it, but I think we'll do."

"Very well."

As the Doctor  prattled on about bonuses and medical bays, Dante hazarded a glance at Snipes. No words needed to be said.

After their initial skirmish, the squad had moved further into the sewer tunnels.  They had come across another group of men by surprise and had dealt with them swiftly.  Three of the men were dead and another seriously wounded.  Alan looked down at the wounded man.  He still had his blaster in his hand.  He pointed and fired at the man, a smouldering hole clearly evident in the centre of the man’s forehead and the sewage water around him stained red.

Hassar looked on slightly shocked and asked “was that really necessary”.

“Yes” stated Alan.  Alan was going to leave it like that but decided to say more.  “First off he is an enemy and if an enemy is alive then he can kill you, secondly the wound that he had was life threatening and there is no way he would have survived”.

“Let’s keep moving” ordered Lucky, obviously eager to keep the squad focused on their task.

Hassar took one last look at the dead man before moving onward.  Alan had holstered his blaster pistol and took one last look at his surroundings before following the squad.

Alan decided to catch up with Lucky who was at point.  He wasn’t sure whether or not she had a map of this sewage system.  He moved through the squad quickly and arrived by the side of Lucky.  He was just about to speak when Lucky suddenly held up her hand.  Alan quickly brought out his blaster pistol and the rest of the squad knelt down, blasters at the ready.  Wondering what was up ahead, Alan was surprised when he heard a strange plopping noise.

“Move!” shouted Lucky.

Oh hell thought Alan as he suddenly realised that the plopping noise must be a grenade.  The squad started running back the way they had come when suddenly an explosion rocked the tunnel and for the first time in his life, Alan knew what it was like to fly.

Zeshaun watched as Alan moved up and shot the wounded man. Zeshaun winced at the pure brutality of the action but didn't say anything. Hassar and Alan exchanged words and they started up again.

Zeshaun watched as Alan moved up toward the front of the squad and saw Lucky hold up a hand.

"MOVE!" Lucky shouted and everyone started running backwards. The initial explosion was more like a silent holo to Zeshaun.

He landed hard on his hand possibly breaking it but the adrenaline was keeping his brain from comprehending the pain.

Zeshaun propped himself up but found it hard to stand, the whole sewer was shaking. He saw the rest of his squad also on the ground some moving other not.

Zeshaun put his back up against the wall and propped up his rifle with his good hand and prepared for anyone coming flying around the corner.

"Whoe the hell thinks it's a good idea to throw a grenade in a sewer, that's like committing suicide." Zeshaun noticed the voice as Alan's who seemed to be doing okay at the moemnt.

four men came running out from the corner blasters at the ready. "Everyone stay on the ground and no one gets hurt." the leader of the group shouted.

"How about not." Alan started firing his blaster at the four men. They were obviously caught off guard. They were expecting paladin squad to surrender? Zeshaun rolled his eyes.

"Take this!" Zeshaun started spraying them with blaster bolts as well, Alan's initial volley took out one guy and hit another in the arm, Zeshaun's volley caught another man in the chest but failed to hit anyone else.

By now Lucky and the others were recovering and Zeshaun heard Lucky shout "Open fire!"

Lucky fired shots and others followed suit. Zeshaun couldn't tell if their shots hit or not. By now the adrenaline was fading and he could feel the pain in his wrist.

He saw Alan get up and start to limp over to Zeshaun, "You alright kid? Hello?"

Zeshaun let out a grunt of pain and held up his hand as best as he could, he was in so much pain that he couldn't talk.

"Alright we'll get you some help when we get out of here can you walk?" Alan asked.

Zeshaun nodded, slowly trying to get up, but couldn't, Alan came over and helped him up.

"Thanks." Zeshaun winced as he hit his hand on the wall.

"Don't worry we'll get you out of here soon enogh." Alan helped Zeshaun get over to the rest of the squad treating their own wounds.

RK ducked down behind the nearest makeshift cover that he could find. He hated the fact they couldn't just charge in and stomp on the bastards, but he understood Kand's concern in the matter. Maybe if they would have gotten better experience before this mission, then maybe they would have been able to do such a maneuver, but they hadn't; still being on foot felt more natural, which brought back memories that RK never though he would have again.

Instantly, RK was snapped back to the timezone he was meant to be in by the sound of fire whizzing past his position. He promptly stood up and fired in the same direction the fire had come from; watching as his fire hit it's target. He didn't even get a chance to check to see if it was dead instead he got back down and moved  Kyie's position behind a tree; covering himself with clumsy fire.

“Hey, you doing alright?” RK asked, after he got positioned next to her jsut enough that he was covered.

The new recruit just nodded, she didn't seem nervous, but then again she had just been thrown into wraiths, with barely any time to train. She was holding her own, firing off three shots every time she popped out of her cover. “Just fine.”

RK didn't hear her last words though, he was already moving to some more makeshift cover, rolling as he went, then coming up into a crouch behind a tree. He didn't have much time before a volley of lasers  passed by him. now He popped out and fired off a couple round, disappearing back behind the tree, not even checking to see if the guy was dead.

“This is getting to repetitive, let's just light them on fire and be done with it.”

“I don't think it's that easy RK.” Kyie replied.

“And that is why they hire us.” RK replied, after firing off another round of lasers.

Liam was glad he had gone off in search of ammo for his SH9. Assaulting a supply depot in the basement of a building held by enemy troops was just the kind of situation the SH9 was designed to handle. With that in mind he left the Whisper sniper rifle with the bikes and boarded the armored personnel carrier armed only with his M-4 Bullstopper and the SH9 slugthrower.

Iron Horse wasn’t alone. Three other armored transports followed them out of the garage, each one loaded with a regular army squad of nine troopers. While not as deadly or highly trained, the regular troopers of the Vast Empire were well disciplined and skilled in their own way. They would be a welcome addition to the assault, especially since it was so vital to VE operations in the city. If they could take out the supply depot, then the Delta Ohms would soon run low on basic supplies such as weapons, ammunition, even food and water, all of which were vital to any kind of war effort.

Liam had to grin at the thought of the upcoming mission. His nerves were gone, replaced by adrenaline and the anticipation of battle. Unlike many of his squad mates, Liam actually enjoyed the life-and-death situations that arose in a heated conflict. He enjoyed pitting his skill and willpower against those of the enemy. And most of all, he enjoyed besting the enemy, especially on operations like this when the battle was fought in enemy territory. It gave Liam a sense of superiority that nothing else could. For better or worse, Liam found his job fun.

As the transport took some light fire the heavy turret on top responded in kind, letting loose powerful lasers that could easily destroy light vehicles such as trucks and supply transports. The armored carrier jerked slightly as the gun fired, answering the light pattering of small arms fire that could be heard splashing the outside of the transport. Abruptly the small arms fire came to an end, and the big guns stopped firing. Liam had to let out a small grin. It seemed as the Delta Ohms weren’t quite as well prepared as they thought they were.

The traitorous doctor strode briskly down the corridor, a smile on his face and Dante at his side. They came to a desk where a young Bothan was filling out a form. The doctor, who seemed to be called Gashin, stopped to chat with her, giving the RAIDERS time to communicate with each other. Sniping 101 had discretely left a Private just inside the entrance in case the real Deltas showd up. So far, the COM was quiet. Quietly, Cursed pointed at Gashin's back, his intent clear. Both Vox and Snipes shook their heads. The RAIDERS needed to gain a few more details from the traitor before they greased him. The doctor wound up his conversation with the typist, giving her a wave before turning back to the RAIDERS.

"Well, Squad Leader?"

Dante inwardly groaned. Due to the Delta's lack of visible rank symbols, the doctor had somehow mistaken him for a squad leader. There was no way for Dante to correct him without raising suspicion, so he continued to play along.

"Can we get on with it?" Dante rasped. He glanced at the once-more typing Bothan and felt a pang of what was suspiciously like worry.

"Doctor, I take it the shift knows about our...arrangement?"

The Doctor didn't seem baffled, just annoyed.

"Do you think I'd be dragging you all over this place if they didn't?"

Part of Dante's guilt went away. There was still the question of civilians. The HC might not care, but he certainly did.

"And we don't have to worry about any regular patients bursting in on something they shouldn't have, yes? The fewer stiffs the better."

"Of course." the Doctor replied smoothly. His voice and expression ,though, had suddenly become a lot more wary. His eyes were darting from RAIDER to RAIDER. "Shouldn't you know that?" It was definitely quavering on that last bit. Out of the corner of his vision, Dante saw Snipes gesture subtly for him to grab Gashin. The good Doctor seemed to have outlived his usefulness.

“All right then. We're in hostile territory as you all know, and be aware that it’s possible for any number of snipers to be aiming at us when we get out.” Gio warned the squad as the transport moved down the street.

They were moving fast down the city street. The small blasts outside made each squad member thirst for action, keeping their rifles close. For Sratchet, this was a big thing, his first time in his black polished armour. Now I get to kick it up a notch, he grinned.

“We just passed the quarter mark point!” The driver yelled back to the squad.

Giovanni turned back to his squad and said, “Lock and load people, not much longer.”

Sratchet pulled out his precision modified E-11 and kept it close, while running his hand over the other items to check that they were okay. After Sratchet loaded a clip into his rifle and clicked it on high power, he felt like he was ready for anything.

“Halfway mar-” The driver was cut off at a sudden boom as the transport’s front crashed to the ground, sparking on the street.

Trying to figure out what had happened; the squad got out of their seats and looked around.

“Land mines!” Gio shouted, “Get out of the vehicle!”

Alan had never flown before, at least not without the aid of a ship.  It was a strange and pleasant experience that was until you landed.  Landed he did and landed hard.  Son of a bitch cursed Alan as he stood up slowly.  His head was ringing and his legs didn’t want to work properly.

"Who the hell thinks it's a good idea to throw a grenade in a sewer, that's like committing suicide” said Alan.  He wasn’t saying it to anyone in the squad, more to himself as he cursed the idiot or idiots that threw the grenade in the first place.  Alan never had time to check on the rest of the squad as he soon came up against the idiots.

"Everyone stay on the ground and no one gets hurt" the leader of the group shouted.

Alan couldn’t believe what he was hearing.  First of all, these idiots try and take out a specialised Imperial stormtrooper squad with a grenade which was a stupid act and now this.  This was the last straw for Alan.

"How about not” replied Alan as he fired his blaster, happy to see one of the men fall down instantly.  The rest of the squad opened fire and the men were soon dead or dying.  Alan noticed Hassar getting up slowly.  Hassar looked at one of the wounded men and fired, killing him instantly.  Hassar nodded to Alan, grimacing slightly in pain.  Good work kid thought Alan as he looked around for Zeshaun.

Alan finally spotted Zeshaun and immediately his heart sank.  The kid had only been transferred to Paladin and now Alan feared the worst.

“You alright kid? Hello?" asked Alan as he limped over to Zeshaun.

Alan was happy to see that he was still alive, even though it looked like he was in a lot of pain.  Alan helped him up and brought him over to where the rest of the squad were assembling.  Lucky was already applying bacta patches and pain meds to the squad members that needed it.  She applied a pain med to Zeshaun and Alan was happy to see him breathing easier.

“Thanks” said Zeshaun, obviously in a lot less pain.

“Let’s find the rest of these bastards and get out of here” said Alan.

“Agreed” replied Lucky.

With that the squad got up slowly and started to advance further into the sewers.  Whilst battered, bruised and hurt, the squad was still a force to be reckoned with.

They were closing in faster and fast, soon every single able bodied enemy would be on top of them, shooting without mercy; realizing that if that happened RK's worst nightmare would come true. Even with that thought they were keeping them back pretty well, but if any of there enemies were smarter than they looked, then they would figure out a way to beat them down.

“Guys, I don't like the odds here, specially since we keep getting pushed back.” RK heard Kyie say, she was just off from the right still doing here, fire three shots then cover method, which was quite affective.

“Oh, yea almost forgot, welcome to wraiths, where normally the odds are against us.” RK replied, his face growing a small grin as  he dashed off to the nearest tree to his right.

“Yea, but most of the time it ends up that we do better with the odds stacked against us.” Kand said as he moved out of sight back into the forest as he fired.

RK just shook his head as he reloaded, letting the clip drop to the ground and throwing another one into his gun before the first one even hit the ground, then firing in one swift moment. It was a blur to even him. Still he had taken down a couple of close advancing troops.

“Grenade!!” the sound of Helena's voice came faster than lightning; RK got down more out of being startled then out of the fact there was a grenade coming their way. He didn't even hear the explosion, maybe it was the adrenaline or the pumping of his heart and his nerves, but he knew it had gone off.

“Alright, I want everyone attempting to force them back. Be careful, keep going from cover to cover.” Kand ordered as he move closer knocking out a stray enemy, downing him in one blow.
