Nick was born in a family whose core members (mother and father) were part of a Guild of  explorers known as the "Intergalactic Cartographic Expedition" (I.C.E.). Although the parents were caring and gave all their love to their only child, an inexplicable-yet tragical-event separated them from him. While he was 6 years old, the I.C.E. manned a mission of 56 explorers to a planet far beyond the Outer Rim. A few months after the landing, some of the explorers experienced mild headaches that begun to build up the past weeks. After a month everyone had this same headache but the expeditions' Medical Treatment team could not find evidence of this disturbance. Nick who was near to celebration of his 7th birthday annivrsary did NOT experience any of this. Suddenly one day (exact date unknown), all of the explorers that had landed on that planet died in an instant, except for Nick. The Medical Wing of the Starship Equistis reported that the victims had no physical damage in any part of their bodies or any other indication of what has caused their deaths. Nick was examined thoroughly but as expected nothing was found on him either. The ship log also contained the infants description of the events and the most disturbing fact was that Nick said "mom and daddy fell down...like they went to sleep all of a sudden". The infant was found in a near-death situation due to famine, at an estimated time of 3 days after the tragic event. Most strange fact is that both the infant and the atmosphere were found clean of any hazardous micro-organism and toxic chemical agent.

Another fact, as strange as that, also caused the concern of the captain : although he marked the new planet on his starmap, he was unable to find it 4 years later that he sought it out (seeking information about the death of the I.C.E. personnel and a possible connection to an alien species). It was as though the planet never existed. Nevertheless, the captain was a caring man and took under his wing the youngster Nick, gave him his family name Elgreko and brought him up in Antar, within the concept of the Empire.

At his 17th birthday anniversary Nick expressed his wish to join the Stormtroopers. After he finished his studies in Combat Droid Software Development and got hold of his digree, at the age of 20 he joined and served till today, for 2 years, at pre-training.

== Character's Personality ==

Nick did not realise early in his life what happened to his real parents. When he was 16 years old his stepfather and retiree Captain of the Equistis, Marcus Elgreko, told him the events in every detail he knew. That had a radical impact on Nick's personality and it did not allow the events to come too hard on him. He early developed a thirst for sience and computer knowledge that led him to join the Combat Droid Software Development Academy of Antar. He became open minded and rational while keeping a low profile and calmly paying a lot of attention to everything in his surrounding environment.

Nick suspects Force powers may be responsible for his parents deaths, but he keeps this to himself. He never told anybody about these thoughts though
