My main computer crashed the other day. I was doing some updates and apparently it didn't like me updating the RAID driver because after I did that my RAID 0 drive disappeared.
So, now I'm in the process of reconstructing the RAID 0 drive so I can get the data off of it and reinstall winblows.
I should hopefully be back up and running here in a few days.  Grand Moff Kadann, Dark Lord

So hopefully this will be one of my last noob questions, though I doubt it.
Why does a ComNet Apprentice have more than 6500 posts when the ComNet Emperor has only 2000? Does this mean that I get to be a ComNet God? -Paladin-

RAIDs do not blow, I should know, I support them for a living. The problem with RAID0, as I'm sure Kad's aware, is that they're not redundant. A RAID0 is purely a performance enhancer. Granted, mostly what I see are hardware RAID1 and RAID5s, but thats the name of the game in the server space, which is mostly what I support.

I like the performance the RAID 0 gives me. But I just hadn't done a full backup in awhile. So it sucks if you lose the RAID 0 array. RAID 1 wouldn't matter since both drives would be exactly the same.
If I had 2 more drives, I could setup the RAID0+1; which would give me redundancy as well. Grand Moff Kadann, Dark Lord

Some RAIDs increase stability, some increase performance. Almost none of them do both (at least, not for both read and write functions). Fleet Admiral Japheth Cappadocious, Krath Templar
