Windows Index Experience?

I have a Windows Index Experience base score of 5.2. These are my specs:

Processor: 5.5
RAM: 5.9
Graphics: 5.9
Gaming Graphics: 5.8
Primary hard disk: 5.2

I know that "bigger is better", but I have no idea what these numbers mean (what's the max? - and is my rating relatively good?)

That assessment has a history of unreliability, though.

I'm basically at the highest stage. The only true thing holding me back is my 250GB hard drive and my CPU (however, I doubt that it calculates my overclock, so I'm probably a 5.9 there as well since I overclocked it from a 2.0GHz to a 2.8GHz). I overclocked the RAM from a DDR2-800 to 934 as well.

Try a 3dmark. the results are much more reliable. And it will give your rig a really nice stress test.

It's 2GB. Looks OK to me. It could be a little slow, who knows.

I wish my Processor and Primary Hard Disk was up there :P

Well, it probably is (except for the Hard Disk - which is a 250GB Samsung 7500 RPM).

I don't think the Windows Experience Index takes overclocking into consideration. When I go to System, it only states that my CPU is 2.0GHz, so it just states the manufacturing speed. I bet if that Base Index took into consideration/calculation that my processor was overclocked from 2.0 to 2.8GHz, it'd be in the 5.9 range.

The next thing I want to do is get a new graphics card (later on, because I'd like to have that DX10)

Not considering overclocking eh? It's Microsoft's first steps, what do you expect?

Do you have a specific graphics card in mind?

If anything, I'll probably look at one of the NVIDIA 8800 models. Not really into the 9800's due to the reviews its been getting (title is 9800, but has an 8800 chip/processor).

I'm not really wanting to fork out big bucks, so I probably won't be getting any of the new cards that are coming out. I'm thinking maybe in the rank of $130-$150, so it'll be one of the 8800 models if I go NVIDIA - or I just may stick with ATI Radeon.

Yeah, who would spend $650 for a single graphics card anyway? But a 8800 is pretty good, there are nice reviews for it
