Whooka Vindari: A Hero In the Making......
Whooka Vindari was born unto Felicia Vindari aboard the rebellion FFG Shrike.(His mother served as weapons senior officer aboard this ship and due to the war was unable to make it off ship for maternal leave) Whooka was sent to a small planet by his mother with a dear friend for safe keeping. Whooka grew up happily there. He participated in many local sports and games. He was very athletic and had the talent for just about any sport but his heart was someplace else... He loved machines, anything to do with them, computers, engines they all spoke his language. He didn't understand why but he just had a natural talent, unparalleled among his peers, to fix machines. Whooka at the age of ten started his own droid repair shop. It wasn't hard for him the droids seemed to go out as fast as they came in. Whooka frequently found himself at the scrapyard finding seemingly unusable machinery, only to have it running in a few days with very little work. Then at about 12 Whooka started to have nightmares, some woman was haunting them... A ship exploding.... Only to wake up in a cold sweat. He didn't know why but he had a feeling... So he asked his uncle (or whom he'd always known as uncle) about his real parents. His uncle told him of his mother and how he never could bring himself to tell Whooka that his real mother had died at the Battle Of Endor aboard the Shrike. This infuriated Whooka. He stopped caring. How could the only man he'd ever trusted betray him so? He did the only thing he knew how. He broke into the spaceport and sliced the security console. Next he stole a small YT-2300 and proceeded to take off. As he did the auto-turrets enabled and fired. The ship around him rocked to and fro and still he flew, determined to be free of the betrayal. He was free. However due to the laser batteries the hyperdrive was fried. He was adrift with nowhere to go. And no supplies or tools to fix the drive. So Whooka survived for 4 months aboard that ship off of the cargo which was food for the people on the planet he came from. Who cares? He thought. They won't need it. After 4 months had passed Whooka was hailed by a vessel. The vessel was commanded by a pirate. Whooka surrendered the vessel and the pirate seeing Whooka as a child took him under his wing. Little did he know at the time how much money he would save on maintenance costs. After training with the man and furthering his talents with machinery Whooka wanted more. But he had nowhere to go. The captain wouldn't let him leave, he was too valuable a commodity. (the captain's own words) So he smothered in the ship in his own misery.. And then opportunity struck. They were pulled out of hyperspace by an Imperial Interdictor Cruiser. They wanted an ID number and to know the contents of his cargo, no big deal.. Except Whooka had other plans. He gave them a rebellion ID and sent them a transmission stating they carried illegal munitions for a bounty hunter. Whooka hid in a smuggling compartment. They were caught in a tractor beam, only minutes before they would be boarded.... BLAM! The blast doors shot open and a squad of stormtroopers filed into the door. They were amazing who were these troopers? They weren't normal they acted like....... he couldn't place it.... They acted like a well-oiled machine. They were the epitome of teamwork and power. Power. Power. It called to him. Power. He could feel the call. He wanted to be a part of this. No he HAD to be. He ran from his hiding place to his escape pod. He programmed a jamming signal into its ID signature. And he set course for the nearest planet. Only time he thought. Only time separated him from the power. As he landed and headed to the local recruitment office two things crossed his mind. Machines and Power. | |
